Pleasant place to walk with nice ducks. Sad to see our local government can’t provide public housing for those in need on some parts of the lake. Great walk regardless just a reminder of how we need state income tax. Not to rain on anyone’s parade but had a great time walking around the lake.

Great place to have a low impact walk or run. Great place to view various wildlife like frogs, turtles, otters, ducks, geese and other birds. There is also a bat colony that has a flight path in the evenings. Always lock your cars and leave nothing of value in sight, there are a lot of car break ins in the area which is a downfall to the area. Be safe and have fun.

They were really busy on a weekend, but we were able to find everything we needed. I was impressed by the variety of cake options at the bakery. They had everything from a slice of cake to special ordering a big cake. It found a beautiful little chocolate covered chocolate cake that was perfectly decorated for our special occasion.

I love this park! Great views, great path all the way around the lake. It can be chilly, so bring a jacket. Its colder then the rest of the town because its open to the ocean. No kids playground, so its not best for those little ones. However, if you want to walk and enjoy the view-this is the place!

Its a nice big grassy park with a lovely trail that goes all the way around the lake. The only sad thing is you cant access the water at all due to some kind of invasive snail. So dont come here expecting to do anything in the water.

One of my favorite parts of downtown. Great loop trail around the lake. Plenty of spots to just sit and enjoy a beautiful day, on the grass or on a bench. Fall is the best, the trees lining the lake just burst with color. Great views of the capitol and some fresh air when you need to step out of downtown.

Good park on the edge of downtown. It is used by hundreds of walkers and joggers every day. There are public restrooms and parking on both sides of the lake. Street side parking is also regularly available. Virtually all of the trail is handicapped accessable.

Though it is called Capital Lake, there is no Capital Lake Park.Capital Lake Park does not exist. This is known as Marathon Park and the one across the lake on Deschutes Parkway is called Heritage Park. Capital Lake is gross, has sewage that has seeped intio it recently from both the old Olympia Brewery, and a development of homes up the Percival Creek that flows into the lake. There is an abundance of evasive snails and milfoil that has made the lake unusable and tioxic to indigenous wildlife for many years now. Marathon Park is pleasant in itself, and is well maintained by the City of Okympia Parks and Recreation. Which is the only reason I give it even 2 stars.

This is one of the best places in Olympia to hang out and just relax. It overlooks a number of boats in the marina, so there’s definitely a majestic feel when you’re crossing by the bridge or passing through. It most always a pleasure to visit whether for a stroll along the walkway, or to visit with our friends, family coworkers or even meet new people that share our Capital Lake Park. The people that share my enthusiasm for this scenic place of beauty know as I do more often than not it is a.pleasure to get out and take walk, jog, (Take your four legged family member with you they will enjoy it just as much if not more). Anyway it is certainly a beautiful asset to our communitys treasures, may we all continue to benefit from the fruit it offers. With all the local talk about homelessness and vagrancy I was actually pleased with Capitol lake park, it was clean and pleasant. Great park. Path around the the lake paved most of the way. There is also a shorter, inside path closer to the lake. Ducks, geese, seagulls, and other birds are plentiful. At certain times of the year there are otters, sea lions too. Benches line the inner path, but can get dirty after the rain. Never too crowded, but on nice days there are a number of of people walking or running around to lake. There are some picnic tables and open grassy areas to put picnic blankets down, but the grass is very soggy, except in summer and beginning of fall. Lake reflects the capitol nicely, especially at night. Love it.

Well, I disliked this place because my other half and I were going to see an orthopedic specialist when we were coming out of a roundabout and we were met with to yield signs and it was confusing since Id never been there. We had traffic coming behind and in front of us, all in all we ended up getting rear ended.... Took almost an hour before local pd showed up on scene... There should be a stop sign or stop lights somewhere involved.... Id honestly give it 0 stars but its Google maps..... And the city transit did not help with being in 2 lanes when one was occupied by us..... I dont ever want to go back to that area....

Literally, you can walk around the Capitol Lake which is a part of the Marathon Park location. it is about a 2 mile walk and for those who want a pleasant exercise option, this is among the best. the lake is scenic, there are always some folks walking the area and if you really want a work out, you can climb the trail up to the state capital campus. I like walking but you can jog the loop around the lake and take a break at the park or other places along the way. restroom facilities are at the park and so is parking. fresh air, green all around, and the ducks! try it.
