Due to COVID, we were unable to enter any buildings. But the outside grounds are well kept. Parking is $2 an hour. If youre smart, unlike us, youll see there is free 30 min parking at the visitors center (closed) if youre just trying to do a picture run.The sun-dial and library were nice to see. Other than that, its basically everything youd expect from government buildings.
Had a really excellent experience checking out this place. There was so much beauty everywhere, and the architecture was amazing. The immense size of the main building blew me away. There is lots of room to sit down on all the grass lawns, and there is a beautiful fountain. I highly recommend checking out this place if youre visiting the area, you wont regret it! Super fascinating.
Beautiful campus with wonderful history and architecture. Due to the democrats wasting our money, they dont have enough to always maintain the grounds the way it used to look, but Im hopeful that will change one day.
The sidewalk was nice & smooth, so I didnt trip over any bumpy or crooked pavement I didnt really visit either one. I walked a little on the outer sidewalk while having a Dial-A-Lift Evaluation for functionality. So, they can determine if I am disabled enough to receive rides on special vans designated for Seniors & Disabled bus customers.
Fun and historic. Great place to take little ones on a capital tour.
Oh man this was a perfect little stop for my wife’s and I. On our way way from Portland to Seattle, we said hey let’s stop here and it turned out to be perfect. The free tour was great and the tour guide very very knowledgeable! And of course the architecture inside the building was beautiful. A must see if you’re around the area!
Beautiful campus! It was so strange seeing it in person. Its such a massive structure that it just doesnt feel real.
Its my place of work, so yeah its great.
What a beautiful day in the neighborhood... such a beautiful place to come meditate and educate yourself
Capitol was closed, but the building and grounds are still a nice place to chill and use as a background for pictures.
Beautiful gounds, great for a family visit. Plan a tour or talk with a representative. Theres an information center here. Free parking. Its a short walk or drive to downtown. Definitely worth taking some time, to learn & or participate about washington history or political history, or just get involved in changes that need made.
Love the facility, just not the occupants
It is beautiful...went inside the capitol...WOW!!! the photos seen are pictures that my husband painted and are now hanging in the house of representatives in the speakers office
A great historic building for Washington StateHappy Veterans Day 2019
Came here for a 4th grade field trip and all of us parent volunteers really enjoyed the whole thing! The kids did too. They actually let them act out a litigation on a 1994 case that the supreme court took. They let the kids give their own arguments as attorneys and let the kid judges determine the verdict. It was so cool to watch and really stuck with the kids.
Thank you, for giving me hope! Beyond the untruths and slanderous guessing, I have met you. Up close and personal I have learned about character that earned you stay in this place. The love of America, strength in a united family, and humility endures. Faithfulness to our higher power also makes you my neighbor. Thank you, for helping build a future for us all.+ The benefits from time in a conservatory greenhouse helps!
Went here with my daughter and her class last year on a field trip. So much history. If you have the chance, take a guided tour through the building. Just simply visiting it does not suffice.
Wonderful historical building. Lots of info on Washington state. Very well managed, maintained. Leave at least 1-2 hours.
A very cool building! Went on a great tour where I got to see both chambers. Stand outside to see a beautiful view of the South Sound.
The Capitol building is a short walk from the visitor center parking lot. Very welcoming personnel and docents enhanced the visit. The extensive use of marble from five countries is astounding. Our docent was a former educator and extremely knowledgeable. Although there weren’t any sessions underway, we enjoyed seeing the areas and learning more about government processes. The rotunda and the unique Tiffany chandeliers are exquisite. Even if you don’t “need to go”, go into one of the restrooms for more marble craftsmanship. If you’re able, take the stairs for even more. There is a small cafeteria where you can get a beverage and food, but it is also used by employees. We went in late morning for a beverage before our tour but decided to pass due to the wait and our approaching tour time. I can imagine that during lunch, you might have a wait because many menu items are prepared as they are ordered. Fortunate for us, we visited on Potato Day. Staff and visitors were treated in the rotunda to complementary baked potatoes with numerous toppings to choose from plus beverages. We were told that the following day would be Ice Cream Day. Although there were four adults and no children on my guided tour, I did see materials designed for children and got a sense that the tour could easily be adapted to interest them
Very solemn and historic buildings!! Children like the tour and study here.

An absolutely beautiful and historic building building full of people dedicated to the citizens of Washington.
Good place to visit. They have scheduled guided tours. This building is a copy paste of Capitol building in DC
My mom and I made a stop here a couple of years ago and took a couple of tours there, since the first time, we didnt put enough change, so we went a second time. The capitol building is very interesting to look at and its very educational for the students, as well as the adults. Definitely recommended to check out when you are in Olympia.
I love coming here. The flowers are spectacular!
People not as friendly as one would think. Beautiful city.
I would love to visit this place again. So impressive! Beautiful campus. Friendly people. The tour is interesting and short. We visited on Friday. The parking was not free. We parked at the visitor parking next to information center. Visit the information center. There are tons of brochures about Washington and Oregon and nice gentleman will guide you through all that. And there is WC too ))
So I was able to have a platform to speak out when nobody else would Lewis County...
We stopped by on our way back up from Portland. It was a Saturday so there wasnt too much going on but we walked around the ground and the inside of the Capitol building. It was great to see the architecture and talk briefly with someone who worked there. Id definitely recommend going by if you are in the area, admission is free and so is the parking (at least on the weekends).
I love our state capital.
Great history and an awesome place to spend the day
I visited the Washington State Capitol back in January 2017 and absolutely loved the building. Completed in 1928 as one of the last Capitol buildings to be constructed in the style of Classical Revival, this magnificent structure welcomes her constituents and visitors: foreign and domestic, with elegant marble corridors and staircases and the largest private collection of Tiffany lights. Upon entering the grand rotunda, the Capitol captives her visitors with four monumental Olympic cauldrons, beautifully crafted brass railings boasting the face of President George Washington, and a massive chandelier suspended from the dome. The Capitols interior is wonderfully decorated with 4 different varieties of marble from two different continents: the rotunda and corridors are decorated with Tokeen marble from Alaska, the State Room decorated in Italian marble, the House of Representatives Chamber in French marble, and the Senate Chamber in German marble. I strongly recommend visiting the Washington State Capitol, for she is a beautiful structure and magnificent symbol of the Evergreen State and American values and ideas.
I like the view and i wish i can go again.
Beautiful location! Met on the northwest side after the only Toy Run 2019!
Beautiful and well kept grounds. The capitol building itself is clean and architecture is interesting. The whole campus is fun to walk around.
Beautiful, cherry trees were in bloom. The whole campus was nicely taken care of and free to roam around.
The Washington State Capitol has so much to offer anyone looking to absorb themselves or eager minds in some of the local history. It has the Capital aka Legislative Building which encompasses the government of Washington. Youll find chambers for the State Legislature and offices for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and the State Treasurer. Youll notice that it is part of a campus consisting of several buildings, which is not uncommon. The Washington Supreme Court, executive agencies and the Washington Governors Mansion are some of the buildings that you will find are part of the capitol campus. On many days you will come across buses touring the Capital. Parking can be cumbersome at times when you dont want to pay to park. There are some transients in the area and not so much an issue till you venture out from the campus.
Beautifully maintained. Great views. Very safe area.
Very good place went to the 2019 YMCA Youth Legislature here thanks for the program it was fun.
Beautiful architecture
Beautiful architecture on well maintained grounds. Didn’t get a chance to go inside but enjoyed my stroll around the area.
Its an amazing historical location that is the only replica of the national capital. The grounds are beautiful all year around, great location for photo shoots
OK, its the state capitol building and grounds. So theres a lot of marble and monumental architecture in a Classical Greek theme. Its actually one of the more scenic state capitol complexes around, at least as far as Ive seen. Its especially nice to see it on an April day when its not raining (good luck...) and all the cherry trees that are planted there are in bloom.
One of my favorite place to shoot elopements - I absolutely love this gorgeous campus and the charm of the buildings!
Its a must see if you are in Olympia and its pretty hard to miss since the capital building and grounds dominate the city. The campus of the capital is set on higher elevation in the city and you can get some views views from there. The main Legislative Building is dominated by a 287-foot-high dome with a broad-shouldered edifice. The grounds and surrounding buildings of the campus are equally impressive. Its a free attraction and well worth the time to stop and view a period of American architecture where building grand style government buildings was a way of the century.
Lovely place to walk around! We went on the tour and had a very good time. There was some fascinating information about the Capitol that we didnt know!
Beautiful building and grounds. Very informative tour and tour guide. Excellent gift shop.
Its a beautiful capital campus, with the temple of justice to the north, the O,Brien building & Cherberg building to the southwest and southeast, the insurance building to the east, the governors mansion to the west next to capital lake, and the legislative building in the center. one thing I found cool looking is that the temple of justice & legislative building are facing eachother and have a roundabout in the middle.
It is worth visiting if youre near Olympia. The building looks incredible.
This stunning historical interior can easily be called The Marble Washington Capitol. Imported from France, Belgium and Alaska, in a variety of colors, marbel adorns almost every inch of the interior. An impressive, original Tiffany chandelier welcomes you as you enter. This building is a must to see when visiting Olympia.
Cool historic place. Lots to see and explore!
Cuz of Cheery blossoms and the arctecture of the legislative building and its located on a great spot.my kids loved it so did I.
Great place for a walk, many interesting landmarks and sights. Amazing view of Capital Lake and Budd Bay.
The architecture of the Capitol Building and the surrounding buildings is beautiful. It is an enjoyable place to take a long walk around and appreciate the workmanship that went into the building.
Beautiful state campus. As a state employee I am lucky to get to spend most of my breaks and free time walking and exploring the area. Frequently hosts peaceful demonstrations outside, offers tours and in some circumstances you can sit in and observe legislature sessions.
This is one very beautiful campus.
Fun building to visit.
Extremely beautiful campus. The Capitol itself is getting a little moldy (its Washington so its expected), but all of the buildings and the gardens are gorgeous.
A lovely walk with plenty of public facilities (restrooms, water fountains) and shade during the summer.
Had the chance to go inside today . They offer free tours as well
Working at getting the illegal and unconstitutional gun laws in WA state overturned.
A real living museum, it was interesting to observe all the processes taking place here)
Beautiful building. Interesting guide tour everyday and it is free.
