Nice small place with exotic animals. They have many varieties of slithering reptiles and exotic cats, birds, lemurs, and otters. The petty zoo was a hit with the teenagers. The lion was sure to show off his roar for the crowd. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

With all the stuff going on with Covid-19 we needed to be able to have some fun safely with the kiddos. We we decided to visit The Snake Farm and I am really happy we did. The majority of the place is outdoors and open to exploring. Social distancing was easy with so much to see. Even during the educational shows the animal care staff did we were able to stay apart from others. The animals appear to be well taken care of and they were building new enclosures both inside and outside.

We always enjoy our days @ this place. My daughter LOVES coming here so we visit 2-3x per year. It’s great to be able to see every animal at pretty close safe distance. Feeding time presentation and info is great! We just went today and the grey wolf caught my daughters attention even seemed to be playing with her. Wish I could share the video here but only able upload pics... we definitely recommend this place!

We were on our way out of San Antonio when we saw a sign about the Snake Zoo Farm and decided to stop by and see what it was all about. This ended up being the highlight of the trip! Theres an entire area dedicated to some of the worlds most deadliest snakes plus other non venomous ones. The other side of the zoo had other exotic animals such as Lions, birds, tortoises, monkeys and otters. And for the kids theres a petting zoo area with Goats, sheep and a Alpaca that you can feed! All around great prices and family fun!

Great alternative to the San Antonio zoo. Not as big, but still has a nice assortment of animals. We had a really fun time here getting lucky enough to see the care takers feed the lions. Gets really busy here on the weekends so plan accordingly especially as COVID continues. I believe they were in the process of expansion the last time we were there, so hopefully, this is still the case for our next visit.

Great place to take the kids.Glad they finally were able to reopen. You now are able to schedule a time slot and every effort is made to allow you to maintain social distancing while there. They also have several hand sanitizer stations. We really enjoyed being able to watch them feed the alligators, hyenas, lions, wolves, and mountain lions. They have the largest display of snakes that I have seen here in Texas.Staff is friendly and provide a lot of information about the animals housed here .Kids enjoyed feeding the chickens, roosters, goats, peacocks, pigs, sheep, and llamas.

A true Texas treasure... My 10-year-old and I had a blast here. The place doesnt look like much from outside but there is so much to see. We loved the chickens and peacocks roaming free, the gem mining activity (reasonably priced) and feeding the animals at the petting zoo. There were way more animals to see than I expected, I dont think I saw one empty cage. The several super venomous snakes were awesome to see (behind glass), also. The staff were very friendly and the animals appeared cared for and content in their living areas.

Had an amazing time here! May be a little biased because snakes are awesome, but the extra animals/exhibits here make it even better. Honestly liked this more than the downtown San Antonio Zoo even though its smaller. I would say this place is like a short but sweet version of the San Antonio Zoo but that doesnt even give it justice. Also the short walk makes it a lot easier on your legs and in the heat as its indoor and outdoor.

We loved this place. We were here about 3 hrs. You could definitely go thru it in a shorter time but we ate lunch and stayed for the alligator show which is when they talk about the alligators and educate the public. I really like that its a small place not too crowded and more personal. They have roosters, hens/chickens, baby chicks and peacocks roaming around freely. We had a blast at the petting zoo area. They had a llama, sheep, 2 pot belly pigs so many cute goats. Beware of the goats if they think you have food they will heard around you and even chew on your shirt/shorts or stand up on you which can be intimidating for younger children but all the animals there are super sweet otherwise they wouldnt put them in the petting zoo. We fed the huge tortoise. They have white lions, mountain lions and wolves. They only sell ice cream, they do not sell any other food and you can bring your own cooler with food and drinks.

Looking from the outside you wouldnt expect much from this place. As you enter, youll discover many live species of snakes. Some were asleep and some were slithering around which made it more fun to watch and observe. We got to watch the worker feed the alligators and very large lizzards dead mice. As we stepped outside, we were amazed to see so many animals. Wolves, leopards, lions, ostriches, monkeys, sea otters,, zebras, etc... the animals were very lively! And their areas kept in clean conditions. Good memories made here. We will definitely be back.

If you ever watched the Tiger King and said to yourself, thats what i want to experience then the snake farm is for you. Ole Joe Exotic and Carol Baskins would be proud of this place. All joking aside this place is sooo super depressing. The animals look so sad and depressed to be there. All the big cats have a very sad disposition. Their cages are entirely to small with basically no room to run around. Very sad. The single wolf was very sad, these are very social animals and he was all by himself walking around with his tail between his legs. The exotic birds were also very sad, the intense blue parrots (unsure of what they are called) were in tremendous distress giving out an extremely loud heart breaking noise. Even some of the reptiles looked like they were in hell, one of the lizards kept pacing back and forth in its cage acting very peculiar and to me at least mentally damaged. This place is not a fun place. After we left we keep referring to it as the animal prison. I would not recommend going here and giving them your money. I dont want my money back but i also wish they didnt have it either. I would be happy if they took our admissions and lit it on fire. This is a very sad placeOn a side note i dont recommend taking someone here for a 1st date (i did) its a real mood killer, thankfully she was super cool and we pulled off having a great time despite this awful place.

Absolutely awesome place to experience some cool snakes, critters, and animals! This place is definitely kid-friendly, and its grown a lot over the past years. Theres also a gift shop and a great petting zoo! You can easily spend 2 hours here. You start off with a large number of snakes, some with venomous ratings, and they even mark which ones are their top deadliest. Alongside the snakes, youll see some other animals like turtles, bats, and lizards.Once you step outside, youll begin to see more mammals and larger animals. Theres plenty of shade outside for the animals and visitors, which is pretty nice. There are plenty of things to see like lions, jaguars, birds, otters, alligators, and other small mammals.Every hour or so they have a small demonstration where they give a quick lesson about the animals there, sometimes bringing out a few for you to pet and take pictures of.Theres a fairly large petting zoo where youll see plenty of goats, pigs, sheep, and even llamas. Theyll sell you some feed at the entrance where you can also buy some grubs to feed the chickens. The animals in the enclosure are real friendly and wont hesitate to bite your shirt to get your attention.Overall, this is a great place to come visit, definitely recommend!

This zoo was small yet it was completely amazing being so close to the animals. Since I live near Chicago Im used to going to Brookfield Zoo and Lincoln Park Zoo where the animals are set far back and usually hard to see... Having them so close was amazing. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals they care for. Roosters and Hens walk around freely (we were entertained by them in the parking lot before the zoo opened). We went to watch the alligator feeding, which only occurs Sunday at 3.. it gets really busy, so go early. I was just expecting them to throw a bucket of food in the enclosure and thats it. NOPE! the guy actually jumped in the cage with these enormous alligators and fed them by hand. Awesome experience. They have really awesome animals including many snakes, fennec foxes, lions, zebras, bison, goats, pigs and their piglets, ostriches, monkeys etc. They only bad thing I couldnt help but notice was the condition of their enclosures. The lions were in a small cage with no grass, just dirt.. nothing to play with. In fact most enclosures were too small with very little shade available to protect them from hot sun.. the larger animals need more space, and nicer surroundings. If it werent for that.. this would be 5 stars easy.

This place is always improving. I first visited in the mid 90s when it was mostly snakes and reptiles and gators in the back. That poor sheep didnt look like they maintenance him well. He looked dirty and his wool was overgrown. The animals looked sad idk maybe its just me. This place has come a long way and has big plans for expansion. The team working during my last visit was not only very knowledgeable but also very involved with the animals.Jesse was there working to show off leo one of the albino pythons the zoo helped to relocate from the wild. He was cool and calm with the snake which made it very easy for even the most timid of child (and adult) to come touch and feel a sense of awe at the strength and smoothness that is a young snake. For such a small zoo its efforts towards conservation of several animals and reptiles is going a long way. They are careing for 4 out of only 250 white lions, 2 of which are only 2 months old and were born there.I really cant express how very impressed i am with this group of workers. Several occasions i saw them working together and smiling, helping guests and encouraging little ones to seek out new things. Children were truly in awe.Cant wait for my next trip here and even thinking about bringing my scouts here as its very educational.

This place is great for small children and animal education! They dont make the animals do tricks for treats n such during shows just educate you about them and depending on the animal you get to touch and let the animal. We had our sons 2nd birthday party there he and the kids had a blast! Even the adults were entertained. The service was good but in terms of parties they need to assign someone to the party it was kind of just a check in and you have to do the rest yourself we had arranged to pay for all the children in the party and we were using some groupons to pay for grand parents but they didnt want to accept the groupons initially but finally took em.
