Very cool museum to learn New Braunfels history. I really like that in the beginning they gave my son a paper for a scavenger hunt so it helped him stay on task and actually learn a few things in a fun manner.
Oh my goodness I cant say enough about one of the staff members Susan. She is the friendliest and kindest last ever! I love the Saturdays for the kids. You cant beat this outing for the kiddos and adults as well. And its free! Dont forget to ring the bell on the big black engine!
Great little museum, full size locomotive and railroad cars including a dining car and caboose. The men running the museum were very friendly and joyful. A very detailed miniature train exhibit. Souvenirs and train memerobilia for sale. Best of its free, with a $3 suggested donation for adults. They had a room with kids shows on TV with a wooden railway table and kids coloring station. Its located right by actual train tracks so kids can watch the trains go by. Our 5 & 7 year old boys really liked it.
Nice older depot with good displays and artifacts. Model train layouts in several locations and scales including HO, N and garden. Excellent Dinning car and caboose. Close to tracks so when the trains go by you can feel the ground shake. Had a pleasant visit with several friendly docents and modelers.
Great place, trains of all sizes for everyone to enjoy. Great history site for Rail Service.
My kids range in age from 11 to 6, but all of them love the train museum. They have special events there once a month to introduce families to the model railroads they have. There are real full size train cars you. An walk through, and even rent for events. The staff is all volunteer and very knowledgeable about trains and their history.
I brought my 2 sons here & they loved it! The staff was very friendly & there was a lot to see. My boys especially liked walking through the different train cars. Were excited to come back for Kids Run The Trains event on the 1st Saturday of the month!
What a fun place. Great for kids. They get a certificate to take home. The staff were alotbof fun to interact with.
HAD A GREAT TIME, A GOOD INTRODUCTION TO RAILROADING FOR MY GRNDCHILD. FREINDLY PEOPLE RUNNING THE STATION AS WELL.
Small museum with a few trains, with history and model trains inside. Office person will run toy trains and discuss history of the rail line. Admission is free, but small donations make places like this continue to exist. Keep history alive and provide a small donation for your visit.
Nice little museum. Good for kids. 3 areas with model rail roads.
That was a neat place. Had 4 cars you could walk through, including a steam engine and a caboose!
Very interesting ... Love everything about this area of Texas ️
My kid loved it. Well preserved train. And the best part is the real train rail next to the museum so you will have the experience to watch it when it runs through the town.
Great for small children. Shows a lot of old railroad history
A great little place to go if you like trains and informative
Great exhibit and Free
Nice layout and display. Very nice people. Had a good time!
Lots of trains, well preserved railroad equipment, a decent model railroad inside and several great volunteers.
Very cool, kid friendly museum for your train/railroad lover. The large train table was a hit with my son who just wanted to stair as the replicas went around and around. The old train cars were exciting for him to see and he even got to ring the steam engine bell!
The trains were soooooo cool! The museum had so many cool artifacts, or in other words memorabilia from the trains. Also, there is a HUGE model train set that can be turned on by one of their super kind staff. There is the caboose, dining car, and engine of an old train at the back of the museum. By the way, after asking a staff member for permission, you can even ring the bell in the engine car! It is an AMAZING museum and is a fun place to visit while your driving through New Braunfels AND it is 3 dollars per adult and free for kids! Have fun!
Cute museum and model trains with landscapes. My mom loves trains and she was delighted. The staff was so friendly too!
Great historical place in the heart of downtown. Kids loved to see the inside of the old train and watch the train models GI around the track.
This was our second visit & it was even better than the first time!!! Love it!!!
My toddler enjoyed being able to go inside a train it was exciting for him especially seeing the display remote setup it was neat
We had an awesome time. Lady in charge made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend it. A train went by while we were in the dining car. My daughter video taped it. Looked like we were moving
Good history of the all important railroads of New Braunfels. Impressive electric train display and very well cared for exhibits
Free admission and great history presentation. Something for everybody.
Great information and many pieces of history. Our guide Larry Johnson was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Its a small place, but its pretty neat, and they have things for kids to do, too. There is one engine, a caboose, and a dining car you can go through. Its free but the request a donation of three dollars a person. Worth it.
Kool! Awesome show cases. Several miniature train models. Little ones can run Thomas train model on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 - 2. My granddaughter had a blast.
Go check this place out if you like history or not, its just plain fun to see all they have there. The staff are very well knowledgeable about what the station and trains are all about. The childern will most likely have a good time there as well.
It was a nice couple of hours. The kids loved the model trains and being able to go in all the train cars. There was some pretty interesting history and Larry who worked there was very knowledgeable and nice. I recommend it if you need something to do on an afternoon.
Nice to travel back in time.would go again
Server was very oblivious to menu, would not recommend chicken fried steak, was mushy. As almost was heated up. Mash potatoes are fake, and gravy has horrible taste. Salad had no green leaves. And ranch came in a BOTTLE . Very cheap place. They have okay breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend the food here.
Fantastic. Very cool model railroad
Times were not correctly posted on Google . very disappointed. I think calendar has since been changed
My 3 1/2 year old grandson loves going here. The volunteers are always patient and helpful. They interact w him n run the model trains as much as he wants. He also likes walking thru the real cars...engine, dining car n caboose.
This place is great for train lovers and all children.
Really neat, you can walk into old dining car, caboose, engine and a museum with mini trains (Including Thomas)
Awesome! Exactly what my nephew ordered. Hope to get him back to run the trains!
Winter hours not posted. Showed up based on Google map hours which was incorrect. It was closed. Gave 2 stars for incorrect hours posted.
Really enjoyed the static display of the antique steam engine and rolling stock.
Kid friendly and educational for all ages
Cool little sight seeing for the kids and adults alike!
Great place to check out history of trains.
My two year old loved it. The kid in me had fun too. The owners/operators are very friendly. Its free so definitely leave a donation!
So cool to see how part of history brought New Braunfels to life! Really enjoyed their train models on display...train signals for communication, and symbols for those that traveled by foot... from station to station! People and children of all ages would really enjoy this meseum! Check it out!
Loved visiting this place; will definitely be back next time we are in town!
Really sweet and fun for the little ones. The admission was suggested and miniscule. It was a little piece if nostalgia to share with your kids.
Awesome! We drive from Corpus at the kids request die this place
Had a fun time there
This place is pretty awesome, especially if you love trains. It is free admission. They have mini replica trains to watch go around the tracks. It is very detail oriented. You can even go inside a real train towards the back. Oh and its also located right next to the train tracks l. So you have that full effect experience. Great work!
Place is great. Best train museum around!
Its a friendly little place. The people we all nice and well informed. You could tell they enjoyed the topic. That said, the place needs a biy of upkeep, and I am not sure why they warrant not allowing conceal carry.
So fun to explore inside REAL rail cars!
Very interesting place to visit. Its not a large place, but there is plenty to see. A great place to bring the kids, and best of all, you can visit for free.
Wonderful, donation-based, kid friendly museum. Walk through train cars. Extensive hobby train set. Special events with (& for) enthusiasts. In an old train depot along a track thats still in operation!
Three dollar donation suggested for entry into building
