The pond is obviously gone since the flooding took the dam out. Its in a bit of disrepair as it seems they await a dam fix. It has such great potential. The creek has a fascinating wetland basin now. I think a walkway would be interesting. Nice walk in the woods. The condom package in the parking lot was a reminder not to go after dark. The Blair witch worthy wooden thing in the creek might also be a caution.
Great place to rest walk trails and have a picnic at the lake.
We love to walk our dog here. cant wait till they fill it back up. that will be nice
It says it was open but when we got there there was a gate across the entrance looks like they are doing some kind of construction
Always a nice spot to relax, enjoy nature, and have a picnic. Its not quite the same since the great flood took away the pond, but still nice to visit!
We love waking our dogs here. Its usually quiet and relaxing.
Nice walk on a paved pathway. Makes a nice loop. Several swings so you can sit and relax at various places around the park.
Nice little park. Great picnic area, nice walking trail. Can go under the bridge and check out water, but best to wear some kind of footwear. There is glass in the water.. Nice pavilion to rent with large grill, sink with water and a fireplace
Pretty nice park with nice bathrooms. It would be very nice if the bridge was rebuilt and/or the pond existed.
Love this park! Its not a big park but it has a lot of nature. Theres a trail that is concrete poured so it makes it accessible for strollers. You can sit on benches along the little river and the pond for reading. Theres also a gazebo for events and swings for children.
No pond. Nice walk
Beautiful park...great place to walk and gather your thoughts
The walking path is nice and shady but they still havent fixed the dam. They should rename it Gibson Stream Park as there is no pond to be found. Also there is no swings for little ones, only older children.
The beauty of the dam was destroyed by the floods of 2015. They have not been fixed to this date. So theres no longer a pond. If it is not going to be fixed please rename the park. Citizens have waited over 4 years for this park to be fixed. What is the hold up? Im pretty sure the state recieved federal Grants to repair it. Soooo?
What a beautiful little place to take a deep breath!
Really nice park, but no pond. They should change the name. Or, better yet, fix the pond.
So nice! Green and peaceful with beautiful paths.
Great place because it allows dogs, they need to fix the dam though that was damaged in the hurricane in 2015 I believe. fishing would be fun there again. I love the pavillion and mini pavilions. they offer fans and electricity. the big pavillion offers a fireplace, and grilling pit. we love to spend time here as a family its usually quiet.
A nice cozy park with plenty of parking. There is a small creek that is very nice. There are also restrooms and covered sitting areas. Very nice place to relax. The trail is a small concrete paved loop with some nice place to sit and enjoy nature.
Nice shady area thats clean, has a place to grill with tables and shed with ceiling fans which is nice
Very nice. Upkeep very wel1l
Nice & peaceful but really miss the pond.
Small walking path, safe. Well lit restroom area.
Its very nice to be wish thay would rebuild the pond back overall its peaceful and beautiful scenery and a walk trail
Pretty park. Definitely needs to more kid friendly, only 4 swings!
Gibson Pond Park was/is and will be a beautiful, family oriented park. Unfortunately, with the flood of Oct 2015, its days of glory were interupted when the dam broke and the pond dumped into the 12 Mile Creek. Funds have now been allocated to rebuild the dam. Reasonably soon, hopefully, it will be restored to its former beauty. In the meantime there are beautiful covered and uncovered picnic areas, a lovely walking trail and some playground equipment. Soon, if all goes well, there will again be boating and fishing.
Kinda small BUT VERY nice
Even though the dam busted still has a creek running through. They have swings and a covered area with fireplace for get togethers
Nice park to sit and enjoy the view and walk the dog. Has nice covered areas for barbecues and/or Birthday parties, etc.
They havent fixed the dam and arent really keeping the grounds as well as they used to, but its still a good quiet place to go for a walk, read a book or have a picnic. Always ample parking.
I wish it had the steps going down to the rocks they way it used to be but still peaceful!
Its still a nice place to go but the dam is not fixed. If they would fix the dam it would bing life back there
A very nice place to picnic.
Terrific park. Has excellent facilities for a large outdoor event including a massive BBQ, several smaller BBQs, a medium-sized, covered, outdoor food prep area with running water, and large waste receptacles for garbage and recyclables. Swing sets are scattered about. The picnic shelters have electrical connections, fans, and lights. The fans and lights can be turned on using a timer system. The largest picnic shelter seats 80 at 10 picnic tables. All the picnic shelters I visited were clean and in excellent repair. The parking area is large and just a short walk to the picnic areas. Rules are clearly displayed at the entrance to the large parking area, but there should probably another set or several in the actual parking. The bathrooms are located next to the parking area and a short walk from the picnic shelters. I cant honestly say Ive ever seen a cleaner park bathroom. I only visited the mens room, so I cant comment on the womens restroom. The mens room has one stall and one urinal, a baby changing station, a wall hook for bags, a sink, and a mirror. There is an emergency phone on the side of the bathroom, which, while there is clear signage identifying the location of the emergency phone, wasnt immediately obvious because it isnt next to the sign. It isnt hard to see, however. There wasnt much of a pond when I visited in July, but I did not walk the trails. The website indicates fishing is available. There is a small boat ramp, but that just led to a heavily travelled path.Be aware, there are no play areas for children. I had a great time with my two year old swinging and exploring the park. We checked out the large pines, the boy/eagle scout projects (there were a couple we noticed), the unique marsh plants and animals, and the facilities. If your kids are the type that really like a play area and get bored just enjoying nature, this park may not offer what youre looking for.If you want to visit a great, clean park, enjoy a bit of Lexington history (check the plaque for some interesting background), walk the trails, enjoy nature, or even host an event, this is a great place for it.
Great place dog friendly has a little nature trail
The little dam broke here a couple of years ago during all the flooding... So there is no longer a pond. Theres still a nice pavilion & walkways. The powers that be may have a new dam built within the next year or so. Will cost 3 million.
Best secret in Lexington. This is a very secluded pretty park filled with trees, Creek, and walking trail. Plenty of bench swings for romantic time. Also has plenty of covered shelters with grills for large family celebrations. The only negative it use to have a large pond till the flood broke the dam, hope they fix that soon. Still a great place to go. Plenty of parking.
Very well kept up
Nicer small park when it contained a pond, but still nice facilities.
FIX THE DAMN!!!! USED TO BE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. TOTAL SHAME IT HAS COME TO THIS.
Great walking trails and picnic tables.
I wonder what the park was like before the dam broke. Must have been pretty.
Great view of the water view over rocks
Great spot for a picnic!
This is still my childrens favorite park. It is a mess from the flooding a few years back and not much to it at all, but there are a lot of animals that we have encountered and to them there is a lot to explore. Since the flooding a few years back the bridge is broken and not working and there is only a small stream of water there now, the lake part is dried up mostly and grown up with weeds, grass etc. There are still picnic tables, swings for the children and for the adults as well as the covered areas and the one for a big party. They have a nice trail to walk as well. To watch the steam of water is relaxing.
Unexpected facilities they got this one right good jobs guys
Nice park good for come w the family
Pretty park. Well maintained. Smaller size, yet a nice near town escape.
There is no pond anymore! When the dam broke. But still very nice area.
Beautiful place to be. Nice and peaceful.
This is a neat, little park. Nice picnic tables and grills, right on the water. Good place for kids, cook outs, reading...
There is no pond there. Took my son to go fishing but there is no pond
Nice walking trail but pond is dried up.
Not a bad place
Quaint small park with access to a pond to fish and playWalking trail and plenty of quite park space to reflect
Great place to stop and have a picnic. Tons of tables. It even has grills. There are a gopd bit of swings too. Little of the beaten path. It was nice to experience a part of the towns history. They are dog friendly too!
Nice, quiet park
Beautiful park. Great for walking, or just nature watching
Great place to walk picnic
Very pretty and quite
Nice family/dog friendly park...just wish they wouldnt the dam back together
The facilities are very nice, but there is no water in the pond.
Its a great park.
Wish Lexington would fill the pond again. This park was so beautiful and so run down now.
We were married there its special to us
I love being at Gibson Pond, its was very beautiful and serene.
There is no pond here. Just a skeleton of a stream
Great spot for a picnic!
Its a really pleasent park in a pond setting. The park is pretty small but very nice. Lexington has some pretty good small city parks but no real hiking esque parks.
Could use a little cleaning up, but its nice to see people back out there!
We love this place.
Very quiet and relaxed
Got married there yesterday, it was the perfect place!!
Wish they would fix the pond. Its been almost six years since the flood burst the dam
Seriously? Not fixed from the floods yet smh..go Lexington County
This place is Quiet and peacefulYou can have Family gathering, Or picnic for two. They have a play ground too.
Still a beautiful place even with the pond turning to a river
Great park for a picnic, walk, party, etc. I hope the pond fills up again soon as it will be gorgeous then.
Nice place to swing
Its a beautiful place with turtles! A great place for the whole family
Pretty place to be
Great place to take a walk.
This will be in better shape once they repair the dam.
This is a gorgeous park tucked away from Downtown Lexington, however, since the flood in 2015 they have not yet refilled the pond which adds greatly to the parks attractiveness.
Nice swing set
I wish they would hurry up and build the pond back up.
Great for picnic.
Sad it was damaged by the flood 2 yrs ago. Still has nice picnic shelter but the pond is grown up and no water.
Visited the park cause we were led to believe there was a lake with fishing access. Very disappointed. Apparently, the dam busted some time ago and now theres just a stream running thru there now.
Nice place for walks
Great place for walking your pets.
