I was about to take my 7-year-old daughter & her 10-year-old friend the a water park when I realized time had slipped up on us so I took them to Lake Murray Public Park since we were only 10 minutes away after picking up her friend. They both loved it & had a great time playing in the sand on their beach & cooling off in the water creating splashes just for fun. Make sure you bring food & drinks (especially on Sundays because the concession stand is closed on Sunday) with plenty of sunscreen. Only $3.00 to enter with picnic tables covered & under covered. Enjoy

Beautiful park to enjoy Lake Murray! Our church uses the park every year for our Sunrise Service on Easter and SCE&G is always so accommodating to us! Gorgeous to watch the sun rise by the lake.

Awesome experience! Kids had a blast, they slept all the way back home. We had to pay 3 bucks to park our car, so make sure you have cash to give the ranger!

Great little beach. It costs $3 to park, but once inside there are plenty of picnic spots, grills, and space on the beach area to spread out. The beach area was pretty rocky. I would recommend wearing water shoes if you or your kids have tender feet. The area was clean and there were bathrooms available. Im not sure if there were changing rooms or not. I would definitely recommend for kids. Definitely take or grill a picnic lunch and enjoy Lake Murray!

Great but they dont update their hours on Google so I went here with my boyfriend just to see theyre actually STILL closed for quarantine even though Google said otherwise. I submitted an edit. Only their website had the information and I didnt know until it was too late.

Lots of grilling areas and I love how you can see the water from all areas. It can be a bit overcrowded and the entrance can take forever to get in so be prepared to wait a bit especially on weekends. Good family area to spend the day.

Great place to hang out for the day. The beach is always clean and the water is always beautiful. If you stay long enough you can even see the amazing sunset.

May as well walk in the emergency lane on the interstate. Exactly the same thing...radiant heat and plenty of carbon monoxide.

Its a great place to take your children to cool down, although you better go early. It gets crowded quickly and parking can be an issue. I would have given it a higher rating had their security not been high school children.Theres also the issue of irresponsible parents not watching their very small (she was about 3 yrs. old) children and a complete stranger rescues them from drowning. Granted its not the fault of Lake Murray seeing as how signs are clearly posted that there are NO lifeguards. But, it can be stressful for those of us whom are responsible adults and realize that the mother wasnt even aware nor did she respond as though she was concerned that it happened. So please, if you go, help watch over the little ones. There are too many parents whom should not have ever given birth.

My family loves Lake Murray! We get to spend quality time together while being near or on this beautiful lake. Tons to experience and enjoy, plus its super affordable.

Great family friendly place with multiple parking & seats (benches) with overhangs so you can go on a heated day & enjoy some shade will sitting. Theres bbq pits by every bench area and a public bathroom in a pink building not too far away. It gives you a beach vibe moreso than a lake with all the sand! Lots of events like jet skiing can be done there & if youre worried about crowds being out of control dont, theres a decent police presence to monitor & assist. No alcohol/beer is permitted without being in a cup & tucked away in your cooler btw! Finally it costs only $3 to get in. Enjoy!!

Nice, clean beach and water with close parking and bathrooms. The small store on the beach was always closed when we were there. The fee is $3 per car, $5 per van.

Great use of property, providing access to all. Well developed beach area with classic state park amenities. Sometimes crowded in smaller swimming area during peak months, but enjoyable all summer long. Great sunset spot with wonderful views of the lake.

No rioting or looting here. Its a respected park and we the people keep it clean!

Super fun, inexpensive thing to do on a summer afternoon. Parking is only $3. Bring your own chairs, towels, toys, etc. Concession stand is convenient. Picnic shelters first come first serve. Would love to see them put in some slides or water features, but realize the cost would likely increase. Either way, always a good time.

This lake has become more family oriented. I like design where there is places where you can lay out, swim, fish, and do other outdoor activities. Plenty of grills and benches to sit and enjoy the sun.

Not bad for a little local swim area at the lake. Some areas shore is sand and some shore is rock. Was crowded today because of memorial day. Will return.

It only costs $3. We went a little after it opened up for the day and there were some people there already but it wasnt packed. I like that! They have multiple shaded tables to sit at, and grills to cook on. I loved it!

Nice, clean public park for swimming and gatherings. A lot of grills and picnic tables to choose from. The parking is great and the price is unbeatable. I would drive 2 hours any time to spend the day here again. Definitely worth the drive!!

Ad a great time with family today

The lake itself deserves 5 stars, the staff however deserves 1 star. We have been coming here for years and they have always made people follow rules until this year! The sign is posted saying no walk-ins until after 11, however the security cards just let them walk in so they could get the better tables and when we asked about it, he simply said we cant help they park in free parking and walk in. Then he said you can go park in the free parking and walk in. No, Ive been in line for 2 hours, I shouldnt have to wait until they find their tables. The lady before used to send them back to their cars. Step up your game!!!!

One of my favorite places!

The Lake was great! We had a blast! 20 people and it was so much fun! We swam, ate, and swam again! The most fun was when we had 5 minutes to get loaded up and get out the park! I think that was the most fun, when we had to load up 16 kids in 3 autos in the next 5 minutes to get out of there! The only complaint I have is the store was closed when we got there, and they need more bathrooms!!!!! Please have someone check the bathrooms more often!

Nice experience. Ample parking on most nights except for when events are held. Part of the park has a mini beach area which is nice. This park is very good for sunsets.

Great park to bring the kids to relax and cool off in the summer heat. Its $3 per vehicle for the entrance fee which is less than other parks in the local area. If you are coming on the weekend, plan on coming early to secure a good spot in the beach area or in the grassy area.

Only $3/car to get into beach area. Very nice beach/ picnic area. Clean bathrooms, several picnic tables, and water access is great. Very fun place for an inexpensive family outing.

Love this place, but cant believe its closed for the winter already. Temperatures in the mid 90s over the weekend, combined with no other public swimming areas on the lake, seem to be justification enough to keep this open later in the year.

We went on a Friday afternoon an it wasnt too crowded. The water is lovely and doesnt go too deep for the kids. Great experience!

Very cute little beach. Prices arent bad at all. The grounds are always clean, grills available, lots of parking and bathrooms on site. Good place to spend the day with the kids.

The lake is great. My kids could play without me having to be in the water with them. The signs about snakes scared us a bit but we did not see any the entire 6hours we were there.

Great for swimming and picnicing not much else there. It would be great if they had a playground.

Would be nice if they had an area where people can have their dogs with them. I agree with the leash law of no longer than 6ft. People should be able to swim safely with their dogs (fur babies) without having to swim where the boats are. People can not swim there because of the Hazzard of Boat Oil, Gass, Engines and who knows what else. But its fine for us to take our dogs over there to swim and drink the water.

Great place to walk over the damn. Parking is free on the south side. There is a fee at the picnic ground and boat ramp. Enjoy!

This is a fabulous public beach. It costs $3 CASH to get in and you can play all day long! There are picnic tables, pavilions, BBQ grills, the sand is soft and warm. A cool breeze blows off the lake all day long. Opens at 11, closes at 8. Wonderful family day!

Its amazing here its koo with the pickle juice water but its dope regardless its a fun place to swim at it definitely awesome to live so close to a large body of water like this to go and swim when you please!

Nice family place

The lake is very nice but people dont obey the rules. There are signs that are posted that clearly says no walkinsuntil 11 am. Here we see people coming out of their cars and walking and getting in before all the cars that have been sitting there since before 8am and the security guards do nothing about this. Very disrespectful and also cars jumping in front of you. There has to be something done about this. Like I said the lake is beautiful but it can be better if folks followed the rules.

$3 to get in for the whole day is pretty awesome. Plenty of shade, space and water to cool off in!

My friends daughters had such a great time when they came for a visit! Just surprised to learn they dont open in till 11AM.

Great spot for public access to the lake, with a beach area and grass for picnic tables and shade. $3 to park. There is also security monitoring the beach.

Beautyful sandy beach areas. Water clean, area well patrolled for litter. Wonderful park. Always clean. We have been able to find a shelter and table. Park Ranger always walking around so we feel secure.

First time and I took my mom and grandma. We had a great time and had no problems at all with other patrons. $3 parking was the only fee. The address for the beach entrance is 2101 N. Lake Dr. I definitely plan on going back soon.

Wonderful facility. The park was state of the art with a sink (hot and cold running water) and a 4 station grill. The enclosure was large and it had sockets for the teens to charge their phones. Lol. It was also a quick walk to the lake to play in the water.

Great place to throw your childs bday party. They close at 8 and will not let you stay one mintue past 8.

Lake Murray is a beautiful and relaxing lake for family, friends or couples. They have bathrooms with running water and food trucks. The picnic area has grills also. My only complaint is the fact that it opens late. 11am weekdays and 10am weekends in the summer. It is a park and therefore it should be open by 8am

Its nice but they really could have made the beach a lot bigger, it gets sooo crowded. Also the bathrooms need to be kept up with better.

I guess I went at a bad time. It was too crowded. I had my dog with me and they told me I couldnt bring him in. Other people had pitbulls and all kinds of dogs there but my shephard was denied access. Didnt think that was fair. It was my first attempt to enter the park so I have no other experiences to speak on.
