Great hikes here. Its kind of desolate this time of year but I see wildlife of some sort on most hikes. Coyotes, blacktail, snakes and quails among others. There are great views of San Pablo Bay and Benicia strait from the peaks. There is a lot to explore, varied terrain and microclimates within the park keep it consistently interesting. The most interesting things to see do require hiking at least a few miles on hilly trails. There are a few stretches that go through cattle grazing areas and the trail can get covered in cow pies, but there are many trails to choose from. Its a huge area so it very rarely gets crowded. Most hikers here follow good trail etiquette and the trails are usually clean and well maintained. Many of the trails do not offer shade, however.
So this is how the other side lives!! Lol. We hiked from the pine tree area to the Bear Creek parking lot. Beautiful sights loving creation. Birds singing and tons of butterflies. Toilets on bear Creek so clean and not a nauseating experience as opposed to pine tree. Enjoy hiking this trail about three times per week.
Scenic hike through rolling mountainous pastures. Views of the delta, pockets of native forest and beautiful bird song in spring. Watch out for surly cows and their copious splat. That cow pie may look dry...
Really great place to take a walk and get some rest. You can meet a herd of grazing cows and their poops?, lizards, salamander and horses. The road is a bit bumpy due to cows footprints. And if youre lucky, you can find the secret place for washing your hands when youre walking along the valley trail. It will look like the picture below~!
Went to see the comet, enjoyed the trails more!
Start of a great walk to the top of the hill in Brione Country Park. What a view.
Beautiful trails, adorable salamanders (Batrachoseps attenuatus), and lovely vistas
4.3 balloon loop up to and back from the picnic bench on Briones Crest Trail, then down Black Oak, after a section of Mott. Great views. Steep coming down Black Oak.
Hide open Away from little towns and building omg such a great place to explorer
For a jogger it is very nice and walk a dog or horse back ride
Lots of parking and picnic tables both in sun and shade. Beautiful views around. Great place to start or finish your hike. Small fee to access park. Dogs allowed.
Good place to take your mt bike
It is magical
Nice place to hike or get a run in. You have your choice of killer hills or gradual hills. The trails are maintained and in pretty good shape. Theres some trees for shade, but it goes away when you hit the pastures. Yup. You get to run with cows around you. Dont worry, the ignore you. You mostly just have watch for their patties scattered throughout the trail. Overall I like this park. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the lack of decent bathrooms. Theres porta potties and outhouses. Thats it.
Another gem of the EBRPD. A lovely out of the way parking area to access a quiet park. Generally few hikers bikers and horses. Hella hot in summer. Perfect in winter.
We love taking our dog on big hikes in tjis area. Many great trails where he can be off leash. Wear hiking shoes and bring water, especially for the dog.
Love this location for family photo shoots. Lots of space and various nooks and crannies to explore.
Nice place
Nice and kept up. Close to parking
Beautiful however remote.
Easy to get to. Dog friendly.
Hidden treasure and very nice park.
Cool place to hang out!!
Great for dog walks.
Amazing trails and views!
Great place for a day hike!!
This would be a 5 star if it wasnt for the darned cows! They were trying to block us in a few places on our attempted loop. When we got to the top of the crest there was a small herd blocking the cattle gate for us to go through. Waited a while - they werent budging. Wasnt worth the confrontation. Turned around. Still got in 4 miles. (Darn cows!)
A great starting place for the trails in Briones and the Bear Creek reservoir. Although Briones reserves the right to charge for parking, the kiosk is rarely manned and parking is free when it is not manned.
Reasonable staging area for hiking
My favorite park in the bay area. Open spaces, challenging hills, great views.
Gorgeous hiking and almost all of it to ourselves on a Friday afternoon
Great hikes. Can be muddy. Watch out for cow pies!!!
Good place for hiking..
Peaceful scenery.
Amazing
Nice hiking
