Had ana amazing time taking Christmas photos with my family, the money goes to an amazing cause and the village is always decorated beautifully. They do take cards as well as cash for the food, but its cash only for the tickets for the rides so make sure you have a little on hand!!!!
The Acadian Village is a historical site that has preserved the original houses of the Acadians who had settled in this region in the 1760s.The Acadians were originally from France and had settled in Canada, but were eventually driven out. A bit of US history I hadnt known anything about. We took the audio tour and got to visit many of the family homes, the stores that existed in their villages, the blacksmith shop, the church, the schoolhouse, the doctors office and so on.There was a distinct village feel to all of the buildings that we get only when we read old books or watch old movies. And the site itself was just so incredibly beautiful. The buildings are laid out on either side of a pond which have at least a dozen small wooden bridges. The trees and the pond create a beautiful blue and green and even the algae looks beautiful, giving it a fairyland feel. This location is an event venue and hosts weddings, and I can certainly see why!
This was coolio. Some good, different historical view points and a nice little place to check out. Small enuff for a 2-3 hours max. Good views. The dugout canoes were on it!! Another 15 years without some restoration may lose a few displays. Hope not, Id go back.
This has some amazing recreations as well as original items. Theres a nice gift shop. Its relatively out of the way so when youre there you kind of feel like youre back in time. The only negatives are that it is fairly hard to find and needs some maintenance, otherwise it would be a 5 star location.
Very cool and interesting little place and the money goes to help the nearby school. Beautiful place and modern tech. Great hidden little gem to stretch your legs!
Good prices, beautiful, went during Christmas had pretty light, good place to spend family time, very welcoming, I volunteered here and everyone her is just wonderful and very respectful
The workers are very nice and it was a very lovely village! It was beautiful and full of history!
The lights were beautiful kinda expensive to ride the carnival rides 1.00 a ticket but the kids had a good time. The live singing in the church was really nice. Would definitely go back next year
A walk back through time in the Acadian life that was traditional Cajun agricultural communities. So many pieces explained from Grandmas kitchen and barn.Love the way the LARC has preserved the traditional Cajun architecture homes as well as the farm house and smithy in a small authentic feeling village.*plenty of parking and gift shop on site with locals to help guide if wanted.
The lights are nice. parking is pretty well organized. Could use some new additions, there may have been but it does seem that its the same every year.
Awesome place for family fun. Very clean and well kept. Even through the holiday festivities it was a calm atmosphere. Will be visiting again with family.
Fun step back in time & history! Tour at your own pace following literature provided.
So beautiful and always much to learn!
Quaint little spot with friendly staff. If you like history, its definitely worth a visit. The only complaint is that their was some really cool stuff that had no description or info.
We had a great time. Enjoyed the lights and all the other fun they had. Photos with Santa were a little pricey, but it was a pretty setting and Santa looked good. My two year old had a blast and wasnt wanting to leave
Fun place to spend an hour or two looking at the lights
Neat little village decorated with Christmas lights. A bit over priced for carnival rides and concession stand food. The best part was the church which is covered in white lights. When you step inside youre greeted by a nice lady who will read you a story about Santa Kroupee. My children loved it.The walking paths are brick which is pretty, but a bit uneven and will trip you up. Plus theyre very narrow which makes it hard to walk around and look at the lights when its crowded. We definitely enjoyed the lights but suggest going during the week to avoid the crowds.
Very great day trip! Be sure to use the dial in self guided tour.
We love the acadian village ligths
I love this place. Its very interesting..this was my second trip. I want to come during Christmas to see it all lit up. I bet its beautiful.
The lights and the decorations was fantastic....There were rides that catered to both young and old at heart... Snacks and food was available to satisfy those hunger pangs. Overall it was a lovely experience to add and put you in the Christmas mood.
Lights were wonderful, they had rides and food. Great time for picts
Family friendly event...beautiful light displays and carnival fun for the kids
Gorgeous village with self guided tour.
In December, the little cajun homes here are decorated in Christmas lights. For a 10 fee per person over 4 and free for those under, you can experience this shining gem while helping persevere some cajun culture. As you meander through the village, lights glitter the pathways. In the middle is a small fair with a handful of rides which you need to buy tickets to ride. A dance hall is placed at the pavillion with a cajun kitchen for food on the left and pictures with Santa on the right. It ends at the country store where you can find things made by local crafters and businesses.
Nice 1 time $10 person to enter after it takes about an hr in car line to park. Takes about an he to walk through and see the lights. Festival rides are extra. Bring your credit card if riding rides. $1 per ticket takes 3 or more per ride.
Pretty Christmas lights, some music, carnival foods, and pics with Santa.
This place is a must for Christmas. Best light display in the area.
Very nice preservation of the way it once was. We need another visit.
Excellent Christmas experience. Beautiful lights and midway activities.
A tiny village which is built to replicate the Acadian homes. There is a chapel and a blacksmith there too.
Very nice place. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff!
We went to Acadian Village for Christmas, the lights were beautiful, staff was pleseant, great event for friends and family alike. The village itself is a wonderful place and Larc is a great organization, I gladly go ever year and offer support when I can.
One of the best pleaces to visit on Chrismas
We went to this place during Christmas time .. lights were good and themes were good too .. kids get to have their own good time with rides that was set up . Well maintained and can be visited during festive season ..
WAY out there, but very beautiful scenery! Very friendly and helpful, this was my 1st visit here. I will be going back!
Beautifully done! Line is long but worth the wait!
The bellydancers of Oasis Studio always have a blast dancing for Acadian Village. I love walking after our show to see the lights with my family. This place is clean and the staff is friendly. If you are in town for Christmas, you have to go!
Great place for families! All the money goes to any awesome cause!
It $10.00 to get in for everyone 4 and up just to see christmas lights becouse everything else cost additional MONEY. The gift shop is so over price and alot of stuff in there has been in there for some time. The prettiest thing in the whole village was the chapel. Alot of village only had 1 to 2 strings of lights. Make this some special and nice either cut the price down to get in or leave the price and let food and rides be include in the prices. MERRY CHRISTMAS
Quaint village - step back in time!
The Christmas Village was beautiful and enjoyable. Rides for older children, funnel cakes, Santa and story time.
Great history of life of the Early Acadians!
Best visit during Christmas for Acadiana Village light display
Wonderful Night. Thank you all!
It is a wonderful replica of a Cajun village. The Christmas lights are a joy to see. This is a major fund raiser for LARC. We will be visiting again, and hopefully you will also.
Loaded with attractions and Christmas lights. Live entertainment right now.
I visited for the 1st time and it was nice. Theres a variety of lights and activities to do and see. The food wa good. You get big portions. I do recommend waiting a while before going when they 1st open. It was crowded and everyone was trying to take pictures slowing the line down or bumping into each other.
The entrance for the Noel event is hard to find if you are not familiar with area. Parking was well organized. Lights were good, not great.
Great place for family time specially for Xmas time.
Nice place. You get to walk around an old-time village looking at Xmas lights and there is a fair at xmastime but its good to see during the day also if youve never been.
Nice, clean walking tour. Everything is well laid out and the audio tour was great. One star deducted for a lack of handicap accessibility. Ramps need to be added for folks with mobility issues.
Very educational. I enjoyed it alot. All the preceeds go to give jobs to the disabled.
Noel Acadien is fabulous!
Nice but the rides were smaller than expected. Great job with lights and set up
Had a really nice time looking at all the lights. There were quite a few differences fr rom the previous years and it was really nice.
Super fun, and the admission is cheap (8 dollar per adult). It actually opens on weekday and is a quiet and neat historical living museum to see. Highly recommended.
Nice self guided tour. Would be nice to have someone to ask questions and tell more of how the people lived. The carved wooden pictures in the church made me cry.
Beautiful nite...hot chocolate was delicious as always. Could have been hotter but still good...hopin they get roasted peanuts again. Beautiful place still
Attended the meeting Spooktacular Event. Had an amazing time with friends and family.
Loved everything about this place. Even got to feed all the turtles an ducks.
Was decorated very Nice for Christmas but that lures you in for the fair type activites. Rides, funnel cakes, and prize booths. Plan to bring your wallet cause everything is pricey plus the price of admission.
Had some good family fun at the Christmas amusement park.
Came here during the Christmas lights event. Absolutely wonderful yet passive experience.
Kids love it ! We sat in traffic longer to enter the place than visiting lol
Beautiful, festive and fun...only bummer is the roasted peanut stand wasnt there when we went this year.
Its good but I wish they do the updated every year so we dont see the same things every year .. good entertainment for the kids
Went for the Christmas light show. It was cute, great for little kids.
Nice place for preformances, food is very nice because the nachos and popcorn are delish! I came here for Christmas for a preformance, though the stage was small it went very well and smooth. It was a lot to learn about the past and history of Acadian Village. The lights were very nicely put on the houses. The old church was informative! The reason I take of a star was the traffic. My friend had to wait two hours in traffic and did not get to preform. ( in traffic I meant the lines) Would have gave a half star off. ( But there was only an option for 5 stars 4 3 2 or one star(s) Happy holidays!
If you love history, this little out of the way place is a great place to visit. It doesnt take much time, the admission is reasonable, and youll learn a little about the history of the Acadians while you are there. We started off in the gift shop where you pay for your admission. They have a telephone number where you can call in to listen to the guided tour. You can stop and start it as you need to. You are allowed to go as fast or as slowly as you would like. There are quite a few things to see so we took our time. If you are looking for an amusement park, this is not it, but if you want to learn about some history of the area, pay an admission that is reasonable, and that goes for a really great organization, this is the place!
My second going and I loved it and the beautiful lights cant wait for next year
A nice family event location. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Amazing place. We love this and will be a Tradition every year.
Definitely not what we expected. WAY over-rated...A one time visit only. Not worth over an hour drive for. Postive note: relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, good food.
Very enjoyable place to see how people lived in this area in the past. Really enjoyed Saras presentation at the blacksmiths barn.
Because there Mardi gras bead are chesp
Well done Christmas light display. Unfortunately an accident close by interrupted the traffic pattern. This delayed getting to the Village.
The place to learn about the Cahun culture. Buildings, artifacts and knowledgeable guides.
Went there for a wonderful baby shower. It was a great place to have an event and would recommend it as a venue to anyone.
One the best places to visit during the Christmas season.
Great Christmas family activity
Does Christmas the old fashion away. Great and very friendly staff.
I must say I was very disapointed how commercial acadian vilage has become. I took 4 children to go see the beautiful lights. Once they saw the rides they were not intrested in anything else. At 16$ a ride for 4 kids!! Really. Wont be returning
Interesting way to understand how lived Arcadian people. Places are well decorated. Maybe a little short..
Really loved it. Whole family had fun!
Great place loved all the scenery and my daughter had a blast on her birthday! We will be back!!!
Beautiful lights. Great place to take the family.
Always a great place to experience Christmas Cajun style!
Beautiful! The chicken and sausage gumbo was so yummy!
So beautiful. My daughter loved it
Attending a wedding event, and what a awesome place to have a wedding...
Went in December and the lights and attractions were amazing. The overall vibe and fair like atmosphere is good for people of all ages. I went with family friends and we all had a great time. The food and drink prices were really fair as well.
We had a great time..Everything was beautiful
The lights are beautiful!!! A must go see, you will surely love it.
We are on a work/vacation thought we would check it out.. the lights where nice they did a good job on that. The rides are overpriced and junk and the people working them are chain smoking in front of my kids. I was going to rate it 2 star but there was a really nice man at the chapple telling stories about the south. He also showed us some really cool nature pieces.
My students performed and had a blast. The staff was super friendly, especially the lady in the ticket booth. Great job and keep up the smiles!
It was beautiful. I really loved the lights it was amazing. I dont know how much it cost but I would love to take my kids there one day.
Great historic display of an Acadiana era village. Many homes to look in and around. Nice paths and cool little county store with gifts and snacks.
