The National Park Service has a beautiful exhibit here. The movie was very moving and taught me a lot about the Acadian story. It is a history that needs to be remembered and understood. I have a new appreciation for my wife and her ancestors. The Ranger (William) was very helpful and made our visit special. The exhibits are colorful and speak to a rich history where family is one of the most important things. Check this place out!
We watched two very informative movies. The exhibit was very helpful in helping us understand Acadian culture. Our NP ranger added to our knowledge & was super helpful.
This is a great place to start your visit to Cajun country. There are a lot of exhibits about the history and culture of the Cajun people and there’s a film about the history of the Cajun shown every hour on the hour until 3pm. The film and the exhibits could use some updating, but they still provide a lot of useful information even if they are a bit dated. The rangers are a great source of information about the local area and culture as well. There’s a ranger talk most days at 2:45. The gift shop has lots of cool books, cds and gifts related to the local culture. There’s bathrooms and water fountains as well. Walk along the bayou on the other side of the parking lot for some pretty views.
Since I was a child, this center was a place I returned to every few years to renew my understanding of what it means to be a Cajun, through its documentary. I was happy to return as an adult to introduce my children to that aspect of their heritage.
Great place to get a background on how this area became Cajun country.
Very nice museum about the Cajun culture ! Staff is very helpful.
Very informative and interesting visit. Highly recommend!
Very nice museum. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.
Immersion into the cultures of LA. Enjoyed the Junior Ranger workbook. Ranger nice helpful & knows the answers & more.
Wonderful and beautiful place to visit and learn about my culture.
Very interesting exhibits. Good movie.
Learned a lot of history that I had no clue about our French Canadian neighbors and how they became an integral part of Louisiana culture.
Great place. Fantastic film about Acadian history. Good museum. Very informative park rangers.
Really enjoyed the museum - lots of good information. They have a 35-40 minute film, but that was disappointing to me
Great place to view the Acadian culture. About 10 years dated. Needs an update and a little refirb.
We enjoyed this place and learned things we never knew about history of the US and the cajun people
Immediately greeted once we came in and given a rundown of the Cajun history, so thumbs up for that. Also the guide gave us all the information to everything we were curious about. Great little store and I loved the video that they had about Acadia. Good place to go to learn Lousianas history.
Awesome experience, great staff, great history
Its free and run by the NPS (national park service). Theres a wealth of information and a corny video you can watch on the plight of the Acadians. Being that I am a native of the area, I can say that a great deal of other cultural influences are diminished or simply omitted altogether. Still worth a stop nonetheless.
Lots of good info about the Acadian people. We stopped on our way from New Orleans to Lake Charles.
Interesting place and history of how the Acadians made it to Louisiana. They have a nice museum and a Jr. Ranger Program for the kids. This is just one of three places in the area where they teach about the Acadians, and three others are part of the same park. The movie was a bit dark, but it is part of their story. Still I would have liked it to focus more on how they lived in Louisiana more than what happened to them in Canada.
Interesting history information and artifacts
Excellent information about the Acadian history. Highly recommended
Very informative.
Great documentary.
Wish there was more culture stuff outside
Great place to go to learn about the local culture.
So very neat, lovely, educational. I felt like I wemt back in time. I loved taking my young boys here to visit.
Nice place for Cajun history and culture. Learnt a lot.
Good place to learn about Louisiana history and the great deportation of 1755. A must, and its free!
Nicely done. Great staff
Free admission to displays and short film about Acadian migration from Navy Scotia and life in south Louisiana. Welcoming staff members are eager to provide answers to questions and advice about the displays.
Always a Cultural Delight
What a beautiful museum
Excellent cultural center!
Good historical stop, including info on the history of what brought the Cajuns to the area.
Great history!
Wonderfully informative
Good movie.
The film that plays every hour on the hour is the main draw. It gives you all the background on how the Cajun people got to Louisiana.
