A very nice place for a stroll through nature, passing along the way various unique sculptures. The lap around the lake is nice with side paths down to both the lake and the river. There are many picnic tables scattered throughout to find a nice secluded spot for a picnic lunch or dinner. The reason for the loss of a star is that there was one area where someone had definitely been smoking something illegal.
Lets say hypothetically for the sake of the argument that you are an avid fisherman and every spot that you go to has been a bust, if this describes you then all you need to do is catch some live bluegill and take them to the white river on the NW side of the nature preserve. You will be pulling out flathead catfish and massive channel catfish all day long. This place is like a sanctuary for those who have been searching for new places to fish and have come up empty handed. I recommend this place to Pokemon Go players as well. It has numerous poke stops, and gyms that have raids on them all day long. The spawns there are amazing to. I think everyone should go to this nature preserve at least once in there life if you enjoy fishing or playing Pokemon Go.
Great place to hike with kids. Can take your dog too. Website not very clear about access. You do NOT need to purchase tickets to do only the park area.
Such a beautiful piece of land.Peaceful, well keep.If you appreciate nature, this is a place to start
This park is absolutely beautiful! The small lake has a walking path around it. There are other paths through the trees. The park is a pleasant mix of nature and art.
Harvest Festival (November) was family fun and just spooky enough not to be scary! Great Job! I cant wait for Winterlights festival in December!
Lovely park with interesting outside art and sculptures. Very nice woodsy trail around the lake and running along White River. Picture is of new alley being created with view to and from the Lily House at Newfields.
Wonderful grounds for walking. The path is dirt, but easy enough to walk on. Although this winter the conditions dont allow for a full lake loop, I enjoyed what I could. The art installations throughout are neat and creative. Come and see for yourself!
Had a great time at the Halloween light show. The house was awesome. They did a great job putting this together.
Love this place. The Christmas lights was outstanding
Being a lifetime Indianapolis and suburbs resident, I feel so fortunate to have this great art museum at my fingertips. Ive been to a lot of art museums in the US, and the IMA/Newfields is still my favorite. In addition theres also the 100 Acres and all the amazing events like the Heartland Film Festival, Friday Night Movies, and other special exhibits. My only complaint is the somewhat stagnant top floor modern exhibit.
Most beautiful park in indy easy access trails and very clean.
A beautiful art museum and garden that anyone is sure to enjoy. The Samurai sword exhibit was the highlight of my trip and my step daughter loved walking through the garden and Lily House. There were even umbrellas for use while going for a stroll in the rain. Its the little things like that which made my day!Highly recommended.
This places is always good to enjoy with your kids and have fun with then cause that may be the last time
Great place to walk, trails and facilities are well upkept. Parking can be a pain on a nice weekend.
We been here several times and always find something new to explore. Bring drinks, dress comfortable, wear good walking shoes, theres so much to see and explore! This area is so beautiful!!
A fantastic fall experience-totally immersive. The ghost train is fun for young kids but no one should miss the show at Mischeif Manor. Disney has NOTHING on Newfields!!
This park has some visually interesting play structures that are fun for both adults and children. The playful lip into the parking lot takes you to a pair of basketball hoops surrounded by arches.A trail leads into the main area where there are fun, yellow multipurpose benches, settings, and a lake with some shoreline to explore. This was a lot of fun, and it was completely free.
Went here on Friday and it was absolutely beautiful! This park is big enough so you dont feel crowded and have plenty of space to wander. My kids keep begging to go back.
More to see and do then you can imagine. Plan on a whole day, pack a lunch you wont be disappointed.
Part of Newfield winter lights. Look forward to going back to visit in the summer
Ny grandson learned a lot as they interacted with nature and was excited about being outside walking the trail and near the lake looking for fish and insects. The leaves on the trees were beautiful. They got their exercise without realizing it. What a great day for me!
Easy hike with lots of little hidden gems along the way. You can walk near the water, picnic and see a few art pieces around the grounds.
Newfields was great! Loved making buttons for MLK Day! The photo booth was so cool! Loved the singer we heard Allison Victoria...phenomenal!
I love love love this park! Its so cute and artsy and its one of my favorite places to take pictures. Doesnt really have much of a playground for kids, but its the art that matters
This is a wonderful place to just breathe and take in some of the most beautiful flowers that God created. I will be going back every spring!
We had a great walk, but didnt realize that the trail got pretty rugged. Thought it would be gravel or paved but it became narrow and a bit muddy. We were still able to get through with a stroller, so nothing too intense.
Free and Awesome! There is parking and restrooms too. Beautiful trails.
Love this place, the parking area Is due for some landscape work but other than that this place is great!
Beautiful path. Recommend it to all!!
It was a perfect night for Christmas lights, It was beautiful!
Very fun. Lots to do. Trail was super nice.
The garden was my favorite part of the mesuem. So many beautiful plants and trees. Must see in the spring. The inside artwork was also neat. Good place to take a stroll.
My prior memories of 100 acres before this renewal were of a quiet, peaceful, and secluded area to run and relax by the lake. It was my secret garden of sorts. Now Im a bit miffed by the renewal taking place. A large section of dense trees have been removed to open the view to the IMA mansion...Im not sure why. This takes away from the seclusion of, and my personal attraction to, 100 Acres. On especially hot days running under the canopy of trees through 100 Acres made it bearable. Also some of the trails have been closed off. Im unsure if theyll reopen. Maybe the finished product will help me to reconcile with my memories of what was but as of now my opinion is that this change is detracting from the serene beauty that was 100 Acres.
Great place to walk around with the doggos. Plenty of access to the river for aquatic activities.
It is a beautiful place to go to to catch a piece of Mind relaxation imagination fun in fresh vision when you look at how beautiful Earth can show you how peaceful part of your life can be nature is power
Great spot the family, significant other, meditation, fishing and enjoying the art of nature.
This is my favorite place in Indy — I can’t believe it’s free. I love to walk my dog there. It’s never too crowded since it’s so sprawling. I find something new to look at every time.
One of my favorite places to get away from it all, in the middle of the city. Never too crowded, with lots of great public art.
Nice park, very clean and well maintained. There is art along the week groomed trails.
Fantastic park. Lots of good things to do.
Truly a delight for the senses. If you are near, then this is must for Christmas.
Absolutely beautiful! Parking is a slight challenge though.
Winterlights at Newfields is beautiful. Smaller setting than a zoo experience. Wide sidewalks for strollers and drinks and smores setup for fun snacks.
This was such a nest experience. The only downfall was one of the staff who was quite rude but I think she was just having a bad night.
Clean. Unique art pieces. Nice wooded walking/biking trails.
Love this place! Such a great place for the community to get outdoors and enjoy a hike and nature.
The most PEACEFUL THING to DO
Good hiking trails for the family and pets!
Very well done walking tour. Dress warm but you can always stop for hot chocolate. It is an affordable date night, family outing or just a great experiential gift idea. Could also be considered to be a romantic experience.Start a tradition. Go.
A good place to walk. But pay attention to the signs about closed pathways. It’s not possible to go round the lake there now
Great way to experience art outdoors. Lots of trails & even a wherigo that takes you on a tour of some of the art pieces.
Beautiful park, neat installations, and free to the public! Great picnic pitstop with an Indy-area visit.
It was amazingly serene to be there just before dusk. Everything feels like youre out in the middle of the woods, not just outside of the city. Its almost mystical with the incorporation of art into nature.
Very beautiful place
Newfields is one of my favorite places. I love the exhibits. The employees are knowledgeable and well versed on the artwork. The section I love most was closed and will be remain closed for the rest of the year.
Great 100 acres and grounds to stroll. Depending on time of year, they have flower and other displays.
Awesome. This is a must for the holidays. Beautiful grounds
Quiet place to walk outside, art from local students. Free to visit
It was nice the parking was easy to find they have parking in of the building and garage parking which I believe are both free. Unless stated otherwise on their website every first thursday 4pm-8pm is free entrance which I think is fantastic just recently visited. Though they dont have many options for food I saw a pop up tea stand and the cafe which didnt offer a lot on variety.
This is great place for a nature walk. There was many areas to explore and see. We visited the guest center to cool off in the AC and watch the wildlife from the comfort of indoors, which helped us recharged to keep exploring out in the heat. We really enjoyed the trails. If this review was helpful please hit the thumbs up! Thanks!
Winter Lights were beautiful. Kids did OK on that cold day. Would have been nice to go without kids and tour the buildings more thoroughly, but it was still a great family activity. Well try to return next year.
Beautiful park and funky art work
Love going there with family.
The Christmas lights are a one-of-a-kind experience! Professional arborists spent weeks decorating many of the large trees. The lights synchronized to the Nutcracker were also beautiful. Dont forget to stop by the Lily house. Its rooms are also beautifully decorated.
It makes me sad to write one star... We were here from out of town. Before we headed back, we wanted our kids to experience such a great interactive park, and the park was great! We arrived on a Sunday around 11:30 with several other visitors parked around us. Unfortunately, after only being away from our car for less than an hour, we came back to our drivers side window being busted out and my purse stolen. We reported it but from the response of the police and the museum “security” they were less than surprised. There is a camera very close but security wasn’t interested in digging any further. Thankfully the thieves didn’t get much but made many attempts at local gas stations with our credit cards. Too bad that such a great park has to be overshadowed by selfish people. Visitors beware!
Incredible light show, loved the Lily House and the Girl Scout Smore station was a great treat!
Beautiful peaceful quiet trails to walk. Family and dog friendly.
For 100 acres it didnt take long to hike around the property. But it was a pleasant hike.
Very nice collection, helpful staff and solid events and tours. Well worth regular visits if you live here or one visit if youre a tourist.
Please visit. This is a place where you can enjoy the quiet and the beautiful gardens. Just think, commercial free walks in an atmosphere of plants, trees, birds, and elegance,Each time you visit you can learn more about the museum and its grounds. Ask for a guided tour.Join the museum and attend opening day events in the galleries. Visit the greenhouse.Visit the Hundred Acre Woods. You will be rewarded with small and wondrous joys.
Overall beautiful place to take a walk.
The grounds and flowers were beautiful. When we went it was lightly raining but we still enjoyed looking at all the flowers. I think it would be better if on the signs for the plants it listed the common names as well as the scientific names. All the staff we came in contact with were courteous and helpful. The grounds are clean and very well kept. Our family will return for an afternoon of laid back enjoyment
Great place to walking around
Took the pup her she loved it, also went with my dad who enjoyed the hiking trails, and sister whose an art teacher she loved it as well. Something for everyone!
I love this place, lots of art and interesting traveling exhibits.
A place of peace and tranquility. Lovely gardens, trees, and very scenic.
Beautiful gardens. Lots of trails
Great family walk
First year to visit the Christmas light Display at Newfields and it was absolutely worth seeing. My wife, kids and I enjoyed the evening walking through the displays of awesome lights. It was actually very relaxing!
My 11 yo granddaughter and I went to Newfields Lights and throughly loved it. There was a lot of time and work put into getting the grounds ready for this event. I dont know how much time went into making the paper chains. The Lilly Mansion was decorated to the max. Go there. Its well worth the time.
This is a beautiful park with several creative benches and bits of artwork scattered throughout the trails to keep things interesting. The Funky Bones sculpture is featured in The Fault in Our Stars. There is also a good-sized lake with paths to walk around it and portions of beach. My dog had a blast splashing around between groups of fishers.
Lovely place to take a walk.
Love walking the garden area.
Wonderful place to spend a day enjoying nature and art.
Great space with a ton of art from all over the world. Also a great out door space and garden. Worth the trip in. A gem of the city.
Nice place to see some nature and enjoy being outside. The park was clean and well kept. The only issue I had was on the road out there was a MASSIVE pot hole. There wasnt much I could do to get around it so I went in it very slowly and it was so huge that I had to step on the gas to get out of it!
We went for the lights. The lines seemed a bit long and the food a bit bleh for the price. But it was still magical to see the lights at night.
Clean decent area n nice trails
LOVE this park. It is wonderful to explore and see unexpected sculptures and other such delights tucked away here and there.
This place was beautiful!!! Nice big, long trails with gorgeous art! I went in the winter and can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the summer. This park is an art park as well as a nature park and it is great. The best part, the 100 acres is completely free!!! Definitely worth the trip and would recommend to anyone.
Indianapolis has much to offerTry Newfields Winter Lights ...Christmas lights to music.. my family loved it
Worth a visit on its own separate from the museum - expansive and lovely especially in spring. I have really enjoyed the different gardens!
Great Halloween event
