Wow! Amazing exhibits! Friendly staff! Excellent food court! This is a one stop shop for fun, excitement, education, and great food! From the mask wearing dinos out front to the mask wearing BumbleBee on the inside, the museum had so much to do and see! Sanitation stations and excellent accessibility for the disabled and stuff to do INSIDE and OUTSIDE! Make sure you plan for 3-4 hours and wear good shoes! (Please LIKE my review)
What a great place to visit. Sure, they didnt have everything open due to COVID. Doesnt matter. You can spend all day at this museum. So much to look at and plenty of entertainment. Also, Check out the Sports Legends Park just outside the museum. If you get the chance please go. Free parking in their parking garage.
We come to the Childrens Museum as often as we can, at least 6 times a year. We always see the plays and the kids love that there are always new exhibits! It never gets old!
According to the website some exhibits are closed due to covid. I didnt realize all but like 3. My 5yr old didnt enjoy it as much as a child should. So was it worth paying almost $65 to go? Absolutely not. If youre wanting to go, wait until the pandemic is over. I was so disappointed. And their food is outrageously priced. Feed 4 for just under $85... We chose not to get any snacks til after we left. So dont go thinking you can grab something there unless you dont care about money like that. I will try again once the hands on stuff comes back, but until then, its not worth going.
This place is awesome I normally speed to the 4th floor for some mirror maze & house fun, but due to Covid I decided to peep the appealing knowledge from the dinosaurs to the Egyptian history. Very amused, never mislead here. Although we couldnt play in the sand box or wall climb, my niece and I still had fun. I respect them for keeping us safe and closing off close-contact activity.
Great for kids and young folks. Excellent sanitation stations and staff is very mindful.
Wonderful place to bring the family no matter what age! Always have fantastic displays and events going on.
Very nice museum. Very big. A lot of restrooms to use. Facilities were clean. Staff was helpful and kind. I Saw staff sanitatzing the areas. The science area was closed when we visited due to the virus. Food court was open. We Choose to eat lunch outside of the museum. The outside mini golf and other outdoor activities was open.
This is an amazing place for kids and adults of all ages. 99% of all activities were free. They even have free parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. The paleontologists that were working there were very nice and explained what they were doing in a way our 4 year old understood. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you to everyone who works here
Amazing place, my 3 year old had a blast! Super friendly staff, and theyre doing a great job keeping things clean and safe.
Took my 10 and 7 year old and they were running between exhibits. We had a lot of fun.
Always a good time for the family. Good measures in place for COVID mitigation.
The staff was super nice and interactive with us thru the entire visit! The dinosaurs exhibit was spectacular well exceeded our expectations! Also they where continuously cleaning exhibits and have sanitizers thru out each area!!! My family had a great day and made unforgettable memories!!!
I absolutely LOVE this place. It is EXTREMELY educational, and two of my favorite parts to go in there are 1)The China town thing. 2)The outer space part. I think you should visit, there is also a part where you can go look at Dino fossils!!
Yes, there are some things closed because of the current situation but dont let that stop you. We took our 14 year old and he agreed that it was a lot of fun and worth the time. We were there about 4 hours including playing the sports outside.
It looks like it would have been a lot of fun but right now practically everything is shut down or blocked off. The employees were still nice, though a bit scarce. We spent $75 to get in, only to be restricted at every point. Two adults and two kids, 4 and 1 year old. Luckily they didnt really know any better. Well try again another time and re-review.
Great place even for adults! We went with no kids just to scope it out. Did not regret it! Also, they had a nice selection of food in the food court, not just concession food. They even had a salad bar. The China and Egypt exhibits were well done. Go see the planetarium show about how science fiction becomes fact, it was great and free with admission. The Greece exhibit has a lot of neat cultural facts that I didnt know. Very interesting!
There is so much to do here for so many different ages. From Dino to super heroes, they really have it all! One of my favorite things is the family restrooms. So much easier for a newly potty-trained toddler. My kiddos (3 yrs and 18 mos) particularly loved the toddler play place. They had a nice little water area, a construction area, physics lessons (age appropriate obviously), a climbing jungle gym thing that is pretty awesome, a music room, an art room, two huge sand tables, and even an area for the smaller crowd (babies) to get away from the larger toddlers. It was great! We also ate lunch at their cafeteria and was somewhat surprised by the selection. You wouldn’t think a museum would have such a variety but it was impressive. We all enjoyed our meals as well. Prices for most things were reasonable.Overall a great place to visit for kids of any age. A little on the higher side for pricing but you can save a good chunk by buying your tickets ahead of time online. They also do offer a military discount. If we lived in the area, we would definitely buy the season pass!
We have fun each time we go. Kids love the dinosaur exhibit and pop culture exhibit. The outdoor sport area looks cool but it closes in the winter so we didnt see it this time. There is an indoor sports exhibit too. Good food court with a lot of options. About 30.00 per adult. 20.00 for kids. Ample free parking in their connected garage. Great for all age children. Easy to get to. Very clean and updated. Certain exhibits change often.
The $5 Thursday deal on the first Thursday of the month isn’t a bad deal. Thrown in an additional $2 to visit the sports place. Good fun. Just watch out for the scheduled exhibit closings. Looking forward to visiting again when more exhibits are hopefully open. Park for free on Illinois St. Visit before it gets too cold to enjoy the many outdoor activities the museum offers.
Educational and fun experience. My first time here was on an elementary school field trip.. now nearly 20 years later I brought my own kiddies
Fun as always, even though it is a little different with the activities available because of Covid. New Barbie temporary exhibit is really neat. Lots of wipes and hand sanitizer throughout the museum. I felt very safe traveling there, they are trying very hard to balance safety and fun.
The concept is cool. The dinosaur exhibit was probably the best part. The national geographic was cool as well. The other exhibits were pretty so-so. My children werent terribly impressed and I have a range of children, so my littlest (2 years) likes the water table obviously, but my 7 and 6 year olds, who are extremely intelligent, didnt find much interest in quite a few exhibits. So Im glad they change them out.
Very nice museum. Well organized and laid out. Friendly employees. I really enjoyed the tour guides, they seemed to really love their jobs. Did the archaeology tour ( very informative and engaging) and the water clock (he was silly and fun). Free parking was a super bonus! The sports interactive area is an amazing idea! Dont forget Payton played for Denver too My only complaint, is this is with all museums, is the extra charge for the limited exhibit. I am a believer in offer one price for everything, that way some kids and parents arent left out. I wouldnt have notice of I had paid say $1 extra and got to see the Greece exhibit (they charged $7pp and if everyone had paid a dollar extra they would have probably increases their revenue than charging extra).Idea: you should have featured Greek food at the cafeteria!!We had a great time.
My 5, 3, and 2 year old love the Childrens Museum. With all the interactive toys that needed to be put away due to Covid I dont recommend paying to go to the museum if you are not a member. The outdoor sports stuff was still great with the needed restrictions, only had the warm weather to contend with. If you want to visit and dont have a membership do the outdoor sports experience. Inside is nice but missing a lot of the toys my kids love.
Theres so much for kids to explore and learn. Theres also some for adults. The sports experience is great too! I wish it was more guided fun instead of just a free for all in the areas for toddlers. Purchase your tickets two weeks in advance, otherwise the day of is pretty pricey.
Great museum for all ages and loads of endless fun.... your senses and wallet will be glad you came here. Love thg is great learning place! Check it out!
Me and my best friend came a couple of weeks ago. Even though some of the activities were shut down, we still had a great time! Michaela made the trip even better, her passion for the Dinosphere exhibit was exceptional! They knowledge she shared was awesome! Hope to return soon.
Lots of fun things! This museum is huge and has a variety of things. They did a wonderful job on their Greece exhibit (it is temproary). A must do in Indianapolis if you have kids or if youre an adult check out the adult only nights. So many cool things to check out and the parking structure is great.
Wow! This place was the best! Our 6yo still asks every few weeks when we will return and he’s been to NUMEROUS Children’s museums. Every exhibit was extremely detailed and filled with fun! We spent the entire day here (open to close and additional evening time outdoors at the sports complex ) and could have easily spent another FULL day enjoying it all! Price wasn’t overly expensive considering how much fun we all had. The sports complex is amazing and super well-done! Incredible facility overall and we would love to come back every weekend! If you live close to this place you should totally have a membership!
Definitely geared toward older kids. Not all that many exhibits. At least the food at the food court is pretty good.
The staff is top notch, they are taking every precaution and doing outstanding during this entire covid 19 pandemic. The exhibits are so nice too!! Smithsonian worthy!!!
Weve been to childrens museums all over the country and this is without a doubt the best one. We spent eight strait hours there, and then five more hours the next week, and we have barely seen over half of what they have to enjoy.I imagine they would be a blast away any time of the year, but I highly recommend visiting when you can enjoy the outside portion as well because it was amazing for the older kids. And if youre wondering, theres tons to do for kids as young as one, so bring the whole family!
My family and I literally spent our entire day here until it closed! There is so much to do for everyone, this is my second visit and I was in just as much awe as the first time. We came from Ohio and it was well worth the drive. Concessions is not overly priced, everyone was so friendly and there is so much to do and learn. Im looking forward to out next visit!
Kids would definitely love it, so much to see and learn. All kind of entertainment and non stop fun activities. We spent about 4 hour walking around the museum and we still feel like we didn’t check out everything lol it’s big and very organized.
They did the best they could considering todays environment. So many things were closed due to Covid. I feel like they should list them on the website prior to having to purchase tickets or discount them.
I love the Indianapolis childrens museum! Oh yeah, my kids do too (but I think I like it more lol)!
We went her a few years ago and it was so much fun. Now that our daughter is older we thought it would be fun to go again especially with the Barbie exhibit. It was okay. A lot of thing were closed down because of covid. Our daughter is 3 so she had to wear a mask and since most of the hands on stuff was closed, she sat in the stroller and complained .
Always a great place to bring my grandchildren. Great friendly staff ready to answer questions from the children. Fresh exhibits as well as regular standard exhibits ensure new curiosities and comforts of familiar sights. Never a dull moment.
This place will keep your kids busy the ENTIRE day. We were there from open to close and we could have come back the next day. Every exhibit offered educational interaction for the kids and most were also very interesting for us! It is the winter and we would love to come back when the outdoor sports stuff is open. Buy your tickets 2 weeks ahead to save money.
This place is awesome! My 7 year old son loved it! The only thing that was lacking was that alot of the exhibits are shut down due to COVID and so there isnt much hands on stuff right now. The things that are available are great, though.
It’s called a children’s museum, but there’s something fascinating to learn for everyone in there! We had an absolutely great time there.Upon arriving your greeted with a free parking garage with a walkway right into the museum, making it a perfect get away during inclement weather. The massive atrium greets you to the ticket counter, past which you find the option to explore the dinosaur world or a number of other engulfing sections of the museum.Kids and adults alike are encouraged to actively engage many of the displays.Though bearing the typical museum priciness, the food court presented great options and everything we ate was delicious. The only thing keeping me from a full five stars was the admission price. I felt they could come down a bit—though I’ll be the first to admit you have a great many opportunities in the museum for that price.I highly recommend and am looking forward to taking the kids again soon!
Awesome but covid kinda takes some fun stuff away. Still nice though. Food was expensive not surprising but $15 for 2 slices of pizza, a chocolate milk and 20 Diet Mountain dew was a little steep after paying almost forty dollars for one adult and one child.
This was sheer joy to walk through and see what we could see. The exhibits are well done and very interactive! I definitely want to spend the whole day next time because there were about 4 exhibits that we didnt get to see. But, we will definitely be back soon!
Went here with 3 other adults, no kids, and it kept us all completely enthused! This museum was so cool! The engineering, dinosaur, archeology, and science exhibits were especially good. The cafeteria serves, actually, really good food. As of now theres also an exhibit on ancient Greece that was phenomenal. Its definitely worth a visit!
Very disappointed! During Covid they are still charging the regular rate! But, why? You dont get to utilize all of the amenities! Due to Covid! The food made me want to.The exhibits are the best! They still charged me even though, I was doing a Supervised Visit! Why!!! I was doing my job and nothing else $29 for nothing! Doing Gods work! Very upset! I will be talking to Corporate about this!
Great place for the family & kids. The only down side was that some of the hands on exhibits for kids were open and others were not. But still a great place to go. My kids loved it. Definitely recommend taking your family there.
Absolutely amazing place to go, both as a kid, and an adult. Theyre just an incredible amount of stuff to see and do here. From highly informative educational displays, to sheer fun interactive activities, to outdoor physical games. Also, a giant gift shop that is actually fairly priced, unlike some other similar places Ive gone to. If you plan to go, get as much time set aside for it as possible, the place is absolutely gigantic. Its going to take a whole day to see everything.
This place offers a number of neat experiences for kids, but it comes at a cost. From admission to the food to the gift shop, this place is focused on making a profit. But the exhibits are usually a fine blend of informative and interactive, and the outdoor sports experience area is amazing. Definitely go when the weather is nice to make the most of your visit.
My kids didnt enjoy it as much since all interactive exhibits are hands off but we still hD fun
We had a great time at the Childrens Museum of Indianapolis. We took our 4 year old, 3 year old and 1.5 year old to see the Paw Patrol exhibit this summer. We enjoyed our time we bought a membership and plan to go back soon. We only saw 2 of the floors with exhibits. Highly recommend!
Tons of hands on exibits for the little ones. My 4 year old daughter loved every second of excitement. The little play area for kids 5 and under on the 3rd floor was absolutely amazing. We even got on the amazing carousel. I cant wait to go back!
I advise if you have children around 4 and under do not go to the museum during this Covid time. Everything hands on is closed and off limits and the play place for the younger kids is closed. Its hard going through with a younger one and they cant touch anything and all there is to do is look at stuff. The dinosaur part was the best part and really the only place we have fun.. I dont think for the money they are charging its worth it if you have younger children. Id even call it a rip off although the store was nice. It was really the only place we had a lot of fun with our two year old and thats just paying more money after buying tickets. I wouldnt go again until everything is open again!
There was never a dull moment! From the wonderful displays of Ruby Bridges, Ryan White and Anne Frank to the STEM lesson, it was hands on learning! We especially loved the farming and agricultural displays, seeing layers of the earth, the dinosaur displays, over sized games such as tic-tac-toe and checkers, the tree house, and the Chocolate Slide, just to name a few!!! Two of my students tried their hand at being television newscasters. All of our students left the museum exhausted after a fun-filled day of exploring, discovering, and learning! Thank you Childrens Museum!
Lots of fun for my 5, 8 & 9 year olds. The outdoor sports experience is great! The staff adhere to strict covid protocols and sanitizer and wipes are easily accessible throughout the museum.
Oh my goodness. Best museum you can visit. Adults and children alike have a blast. I’ve visited since I was a little girl. It was fun then but they’ve made huge leaps since then. So much to see that you will need the entire day to see all of the wonderful exhibits. We go a couple times a year, especially when presented with the new seasonal exhibits. This place will wear your kids out and when they hit the car-nap guaranteed. My son has autism and this is the first place he recently rode the merry-go-round without protest. In the lunch pic, it was the first time he ate lettuce in his sandwich(or any vegetable) because his energy was depleted. You absolutely must visit if you come to Indy, even if you don’t have kids!!
Ive been visiting the childrens museum since I was young. When friends visit from out of state I still enjoy taking them here. New exhibits regularly, but still love there are things there from my youth! Lots of fun interactive displays. Best childrens museum Ive been to, hands down!
This place is amazing! Our family went from from 1-60 and there was something amazing for every single person! We spent all day there and still didnt get to everything! There food court is HUGE and their food was really good for very reasonable prices! We got a year membership... so worth it! We plan on visiting at least two more times this summer!
The Museum is very clean and well organized with enough experiences and revolving exhibits to make it worth buying a membership if you live close to the area. The food was decent and prices were not outrageous. There are water bottle filling stations, which are really helpful if youre on a budget or health conscious. We had a blast and cant wait to go back!
This is the best kids place you can ever imagine! Adults will learn new things after visiting the Museum, too! Absolutely worth driving few hours just to get in here...The only issue was finding parking spot. The City has something to do with it.
Great place to bring your kids! My fiance and I enjoyed it as well as our three-year-old and our one year old. Parking is free, which was a really nice surprise! They had a Paw Patrol Adventure area that the kids were super excited about. Staff is really friendly and helpful. We cant wait to go back!
Such a fun and family friendly childrens museum! They did a great job keeping everything clean!
The Worlds Biggest and Best!
Fun place to bring your kids. Ton to do. Wish it wasnt so expensive so we could come more often. The dining room is the only downside. They missed an opportunity to make it themed like the rest of the building.
A little over priced in my opinion. Yes, big, but weve been to others just as enjoyable for less money. We spent all day here with our 5 kids ages 16 down to 7 and we all had fun. Left to get pizza and came back, but they do have a large food court and you can bring your own food as well.
This museum was an outstanding experience for my family. The exhibits are very well organized and interactive all the way through. I live in Chicago I plan to travel to Indianapolis several more times just to go to this museum. There outdoor sporting facility is the best bonus that you can ever get with your museum entry fee. I highly recommend his place to any family looking for a full day of fun. They even allow you to bring in your own lunch for you in your family, and if not they have a food facilities there. They even had dairy and allergy free options. This is definitely a 5 star experience
This was my first visit to the Children’s Museum and a memorable one at that.Purchasing tickets online is definitely the way to go and parking on a Friday was plentiful and easy to access.I particularly enjoyed the dinosaur, pop culture, and science exhibits but there’s something for everyone on every level. There’s a new sports themed outdoor exhibit and looks to be every bit as interactive as the in-building ones.Prices at the museum store were reasonable and it’s easy to get immersed looking at the huge selection of merchandise.Traffic on Illinois St can get backed up so plan accordingly.
We had a really fun time at the museum. Its kind of a bummer that a lot of the hands on exhibits are closed, but I understand . It would probably be pretty hard to properly clean everything .
Fun time for all ages not just the children. I went on the first Thursday of the month and it was cheaper ($5 per ticket) from 4pm-8pm.
This museum has entertained me no matter what age I come. It is a great place for both children and adults alike. There are several floors of exhibits to explore, each one being very hands on. The dino dome recreates what it would be like to walk amongst the dinosaurs with sounds and simulated weather and lighting projected onto a planetarium dome. I come back time and time again! Science, technology, farming, the ecosystem, dinosaurs, creativity, pop culture, this place covers it all! Expect to spend all day there exploring!
Covid has really brought this place down. Anything interactive is closed. Playscape was completely closed. A real bummer for younger children. I do not reccomend going. Maybe when they lower the price based on whats available....
Fun place for kids to explore, and loads more than you can see in just one visit. I was also impressed with their level of cleaning all throughout the day to help protect us.
I appreciate that they are trying to keep everything safe, but really my child was bored with the entire thing. Hardly any hands on activities. Everyone was very nice and it was very clean, but it really shouldn’t even be open right now until they can open up more.
Made the most of the Pandemic here. Masks required. Normal stuff. But still had a blast with my girlfriend just roaming around!
Its an excellent place to take the kids for the day. Theres so much to do and I believe you can bring in your own snacks idk but we did. The free day is always very busy and the exhibits change often. A year pass is like 200$ or so and its totally worth it. I took two toddlers and they were pooped by the end of our visit
We took our grandkids to the Childrens Museum today and WOW it was great! The museum had lots to offer for a 6 year old and 12 year old even with some of the more hands-on activities closed. We felt safe and well cared for. With only a couple of exceptions, all the guests wore masks. Social distancing was easy because there were well marked spots on the floors for places where people gathered or stood in line. Hand sanitizer and wipes for the items we touched were available everywhere. Staff were constantly cleaning. We were so glad to have fun while feeling safe!
Me and my grandchildren love this place cannot wait 2 come back love itif u have small children or grandchildren please take them great place
A bit pricey, but really great. Lots to do for all ages, including adults! Make sure to buy far in advance to get the best price, or do the math and see if a membership makes sense. For us coming twice made a membership less expensive than buying tickets.
Absolutely amazing! They had everything that you could thing of plus some! Extremely clean and well maintained. At first I was very put off by the price because it is high but it was well worth it with all of the activities that they offer. The outside area was pristine. May have been because it just opened but they again have miniature versions of every sport you can think of hockey, basketball, football, golf, racecars, baseball, cricket, etc... we were amazed and will be back despite the 3 hour drive
Great for all ages! Great mixture between fun and learning! They had a parade at the end of the day that made getting the kids out so much easier! And the riley outdoors sports is most definitely worth checking out!
This place is great. It was a good learning-based for field trips.
The kids had a great time despite the restrictions due to COVID-19. We had s wonderful experience!
Excellent place for kiddos dining area also too good ! So much fun activity included
We were here for over 4 hours and only got to 1/4 of what this amazing place has to offer! Clean, affordable, friendly and SO MUCH TO LEARN and do! It was so hard to leave! We can’t wait to go back
I try to take my daughter here whenever we can, usually once a month. The staff are always cheerful, which helps. It’s a great museum with plenty to do for kids of all ages. Whether you’re s local or just in town visiting, you should definitely check this out.
Always a favorite! A lot interactive things arent available due to the virus but they have a limited capacity so for the 1st time its not crowded at all!
I grew up coming here as a child and today I got to share it with my 8 year old daughter. She absolutely loved it, especially the dinosaur exhibit! It was so awesome to see her sense of wonder come out.
Family and my 2 and a half year daughter enjoyed all of it!
The kids had fun and got educated at the same time. Love this place. We cant wait to go back!
Best visit. Lots to see. And do.
Kids loved this place....go during weekday so it wont be super busy...can rent strollers, wagons and lockers. Went Friday morning no waiting. Was very nice, staff friendly
Fun, educational, gorgeous, full of great photo ops, lots of interactive activities for kids but most of them are closed currently for social distancing.
We were there yesterday and with a 9, 8 and 5 year old and what a disappointment! Nothing to do...80% of everything they wanted to do was can’t touch due to C-19, closed due to C-19. How can you call yourself OPEN??? There is absolutely no break on the price which is shameful for as much is shut down! Stay home and save your money...
We had so much fun. Fun for all ages. We bought a season pass so well be back for sure.
The museum was awesome will definitely come back when the weather gets warmer.
One of the best indoor places to go with kids. Plus the outdoor sports areas is amazing and like nothing else. We go all the time. Many exhibits change which gives plenty of variety. Fun for the whole family.... kids and adults. If you have ne or been its a must go.
Took my daughter on MLKJr day and the place was packed and traffic was excessively heavy but was well worth it. It was a free day so that explains the traffic. but the exhibits were very interesting and surprisingly not to difficult to navigate with the influx of people.
Very disappointed, nothing to do that you couldn’t be done on your computer at home. Spent $50 couldn’t wait to treat my grandson and it was nothing like it was when I took my kids when they were little.
BUY ONLINE IN ADVANCE TO SAVE. Holy smokes, One day is not enough... Just barely to see it all, if you get your walking shoes on This place is amazing!!!! It was pretty expensive for our family of 7... Around 25+ per person. Well done. You can bring your own food and also can buy it there.
