This is a historic park. Robert Kennedy was in town to speak. When he heard that Martin LutherKing had been killed, he asked the citizens of Indianapolis not todestroy property but instead to do as Dr. King would do and respond peacefully.Visit this quiet park downtown at 17th and College. Google the events that are personified therewith the statues of Dr.King andRobert Kennedy reaching across their differences to bring peace.
Fine park with an inspiring message that resonates today, particularly during these trying times. Kennedys speech should be broadcast on national tv. Perhaps folks would see that we all arent that much different, that destruction and violence is not the answer.

Read the placards and really tried to feel what the words meant. We all could better by listening to King and Kennedy when they talk about how to treat one another.
Attended the Freedom Walk in celebration of JUNETEENTH. Wonderful time. Historic site.
Great neighbors
A historical landmark in one place that did not erupt after the assination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. due to 1968 Presidential candidate Robert Kennedys empathic presence and calming words in Indianapolis.
This Makes me proud to be a Hoosier. Beautiful old park. Great tribute to Great Men.
Make sure you read up on your history of April 4, 1968 before you come here. It will bring more meaning to your experience. Besides the racetrack, this is about the only other remarkable thing about Indy. Couple words of advice: Its not in the best of neighborhoods of Indy. So, dont look like a tourist, lock your car, and keep valuables out of sight.
A very historical place in US history. Robert Kennedy gave a speech to the citizens of Indianapolis following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
Everyone should visit this memorial and learn the history behind this and Tobert Kennedys speech.
The park is a great tribute to two great men. Visiting reminds us of their values and the their loss. Its a good place to talk to your kids about civil rights and civility.
Its always clean!
Great place to walk and let little 1s be little 1s
I just saw the 2009 movie called The Ripple of Hope. I would suggest you watch that show and then go visit the memorial. It would be a important lesson in American history. Two of the finest humans and most important Americans have lived that stood for justice and human rights... Know history or be doomed to repeat it. Peace on earth and goodwill to all people.
