Dont even know where to start. Made a reservation for ocean view room in this hotel. Yes, there was ocean view... but with duct taped air conditioner to the window Interior was horrible, looked like it came straight from the dumpster! I couldnt be there for a full 5 minutes, forget about of sleeping entire night! A hallway reminded me of a horror movie, it was dark and stinky! I stuck in closed elevator for couple of minutes till it started to move. There a pen hand written floor numbers on the each floor, so you cant miss your stop. The cost was $200 per night and I did managed to get full refund. The sad story is, this hotel located in front of beautiful Hollywood beach. Bottom line, let pictures to speak for themselves!

We came all the way from Wisconsin for a mini ladies get away, very very disappointed!!!!! The front desk people were all very rude and inconsiderate, security was also rude except for one man. Room was poorly lit, toilets barely worked, the room had a portable air unit which barely kept the room cool, the bedroom barely was cool because the air couldnt reach that far. The only good thing was the pool area which didnt open till 10 am and closed at 4. The security guard lady was almost bipolar, one minute she was rude and nasty, then she would be nice as pie... I wouldnt recommend this hotel unless you are looking for something cheap and not expecting much!!!!

Location was excellent! The pool is huge and never felt crowded. Obviously renovations in the guest rooms. The elevators worked about 75% of the time, (the service elevator always worked). Off site reservation was confusing after a late night flight. Parking is expensive.Excellent oceanfront pub on site.

Elevators barely worked, the entire building smelled horrible, like mold. People fighting all night in several rooms next to mine, people fighting with reception in the lobby and no response from any staff. Two girls in reception were the only staff I saw over my 3 days there. Air conditioner was stuck on full blast with no way to turn it down. No safe in my room. There was a fire somewhere in the roof in the lobby with very little care or attention. Extremely old bathroom, rusting and barely working faucet with zero water pressure. And roach traps all over that probably hadnt been changed in years as they were overflowing with dead bugs. Would never stay there again.

Let me start off by saying that my experience at Hollywood Beach Resort has been the worst by far. I booked a privately own room on booking.com, the price wasnt bad. So, I guess its true what they say you get what you pay for. Once I was booked, I contacted the owner to ask some questions. He seemed very nice actually so, I was pretty excited for my memorial weekend get away. I arrived at the resort at 2:30 PM but no one was in the front desk. I happen to see a worker pass by, I introduce myself and tell her I had a reservation she immediately brushes me off by telling be that she doesnt deal with reservations and that the front desk was closed until 4PM, she then turns around and leaves. Customer service definitely isnt the best! After finally being able to check in, We then go to our room (322) to find a room which was descried to us as oceanfront only to find a 5% view of the ocean and a 95% of a rooftop. The room didnt have house keeping which I personally do not mind, I could perfectly clean up after myself. What I was not okay with was having to go buy toilet paper and trash bags because apparently these are not provided. The kitchen sink faucet has no pressure, stove doesnt work, A/C takes for ever to cool and when it does is not even to the temperature you had set it to. My youngest daughter wasnt let in to the pool at the age of 3 simply because the security assumed that she uses diaper. I explained that she was fully potty trained but I did put a suimmers diaper as a precaution. I guess that was my bad for trying to do the right thing. To top things off, the smoke detector battery was running low and kept on beeping the whole time I was there, I wouldve taken it off but it was to high to reach. The hallways smell like mold. The shower pressure was okay but the temperature was not. Parking is $28 dollars a DAY! I highly recommend to anyone looking into staying at this place to try to find a better deal some where else. Also, please listen to the reviews which was my mistake. I did read them but I thought people were exaggerating, turns out they werent!

Hello, I was at the hotel for 7 days, as a customer I was expecting at least to get the room clean, but not even Once! Whoever rent the room, don’t care about the guest at all !!! They just want to run the hotel without the minimum services, but asking for full money amount Hotel services!!! What kind of business protocols are they following? I going to ask to the Department of Business Regulations in Florida to see how legal is to take advantage of people without any accountability.

We stayed in a privately owned unit (225) and had a good experience. Our unit was clean and had all the basics. The resort itself is very old and most of the commercial spaces are abandoned. The common areas are still originally furnished and the structure itself is badly in need of renovation, so if you are looking for fancy and modern this isn’t the place for you. That said, the facilities were clean and security did a fabulous job of keeping things quiet. The hotel front desk staff wasn’t the best but since we were renting from an owner, we didn’t have a lot of dealings with them. The one problem we experienced was that everything smelled like marijuana. Although a non-smoking facility, it was obvious people do smoke...probably in the private units. We didn’t smell cigarettes so there was at least that. The old elevators were particularly smelly and a bit scary at times. The location was nice. The ghost legends attached to the hotel are an interesting addition and overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Resort is a complete stretch for this place. It is built on top of an abandoned mall. I 100% did not feel safe here. The hallways were dirty, poorly lit, management was non existent. All the people we saw were very loud and either drunk or high. The police were there multiple times during our stay. The ONLY redeeming quality is the location on the boardwalk.

The elevator was a hit-or-miss with working/not. The gas was off the entire stay. Staff at the office are there just for keeping their seat warm purposes. Theres people running up and down in the elevator soliciting drugs. There is a Bellboy downstairs at pull up. But, I believe that only select rooms gets that option as well as room service. The entire building reeks of marijuana and mildew (depending on type of day). Im giving it 2 stars only because of the location and they do have decent music at night on the weekends downstairs that you can hear from your bedroom. I enjoyed the waves crashing, the breeze ain the evening and its only a few steps away from the ocean. If you have sensitivity to cold weather or are bringing an elderly person with you, bring your own heater and a walker or wheelchair. As, the room that 8 was in, the thermostat could not be controlled. Chances are, your room is 1/4 mile from the elevator and the parking lot is about a mile away from the front door. So, buy an old lady cart or if you have any luggage uber to the door from your car. Pay the $21.20 for the weekly parking with the city online, print before you get there, and park at the meter on the street. It is just as far as their $24 lot per day. Handicap IS NOT FREE AT YHE METERS! ONLY DESIGNATED BLUE HANDICAPPED PARKING ALLOWED FOR 4 HOURS FOR FREE. There is one HC spot on each block. You will get a $250 ticket ON THE STREET more than 4 hours AND A BOOT IN THE PUBLIC/PVT LOT for any unpaid time. Theres a humongous sign that says public parking as you enter but then there is a small sign that says private parking. So do not get a boot on your car like I did thinking that you were in a public parking lot when it is ACTUALLY private. The City of Hollywood and the management at the hotel are obviously In Cahoots together to rob the visitors. Keep your eyes open and always look over your shoulders. Also, dont be misled by the extra long hallways. They will only remind you of the movie The Shining. I do not believe that there are actual ghost in the building. Although at times, I often did wonder.

We checked in and they had no info on their computer that we booked our rooms until 10mins later. The fire department was leaving as we walked in. The hall way smelt like bad Afghan hash weed and bad oriental food. One security guard was nice. The pool guard was absolute worse. Pool is open 10-4pm. No food at pool. No drinks unless with lids at pool. Rooms are awful. Bathroom the toilet hardly works. Security is more worried about why your on the second floor than why people are smoking weed in their rooms. Place hasn’t been updated since probably 1994. We couldn’t get fresh towels and linens because we booked through Booking. The pictures on google of the rooms are not of this hotel. Ideally this would be the perfect resort. However, its very old and should be updated. I got stuck in the elevator, luckily I was able to pull the door open. The location is perfect and the staff is friendly & helpful.

The security staff is what makes this place enjoyable. There are no other services. Security mans the pool gate. Security mans the elevator lobby. Security walks the halls. Theyre the only staff Ive seen. They are all great conversationalists and were so friendly to my kids. The hot tub at the pool has been closed for who knows how long. The pool is supposed to be heated but its not. Its a little bit dirty. Havent seen anyone cleaning it and Ive been here for 4 days.No towel service. This isnt a resort. Its basically apartments. The outdoor restaurant is pretty good and fun with live music. That totally brings life to the place. This hotel makes me sad. It has so much potential with so much space to use but its just wasted space. If the price is that much better to stay here, I would do it again for savings. But its super depressing when you compare it to margaritaville just up the strip. Im staying on the 7th floor (no ghost sightings lol).I havent encountered any bugs or urine smells or odd people. But we do walk through an occasional cloud of pot smoke... but thats anywhere we walk in this area.

Too bad there is no -100 stars rating! Absolutely the worst experience in all of our vacations so far. First time we stayed at this hotel 2 years ago. We had an OK room, altough we had some issues with one of the beds, however we solved it.This year, well, this hotel would be a great foundation for Stephen Kings next horror book.We booked this hotel thru expedia. I assume that expedia has no idea what product it is selling.- There is no reception at the hotel. You have to walk to another building to check in/out.- The room was filthy and poorly maintained, see pictures- Parking is about $24 per night. However there is an option to purchase municipal parking for about $22/week, but you will have to find a spot on the curb beside the citys meter.- Out of 3 elevators only one us hardly working. When you are inside the elevator, the doors slam so hard, you would think the elevator takes you down to meet Freddy Krueger.- The management doesnt have enough resourses to print out a nice OUT OF SERVICE notice, it is done by handwriting.- We booked a room with a kitchen and stove. Well, the gas did not work and we coyld not cook any food for our kids, however we were charged for a room with kitchen.- On the second day we requested to change rooms because we could not stay in those anti-sanitary conditions. We were relocated from room 525 to room 321, and guess what ?! there is no much difference. Out of three light bulbs in the ceiling light, only one works. We called maintenance, and here I have to give 5 stars to the handyman because he showed up extremely fast. The handyman named Ralph was barely speaking english, only Spanish. Who would think that people in United States with official employment do not speak official language. Mr. Ralp looked at the light and told us that the hotel does not have money to fix it. That is what he was able to tell us in English. Then, he brought us a stand light with mold. Afterwards he came back twice to replace those two light bulbs.- The lobby in the hotel is like a scenario from postwar movie. Only two or thee shops are open and they look like thrift store. It looks like once upon a time there was a two storeys mall, however everything is closed- The hotel charges resort fees that should be excluded from the bill. The resort fee includes beach access, but the access is public. Anyone can go back and forth, without being a hotel guest.- We had to contact expedia to request hotel change. Luckily we were relocated to another hotel which will receive 5 stars rating by us- My wife spent several hours on the phone with expedia, trying to get refund for the difference of hotel room without the kitchen, since we were not able to use the kitchen.Since we booked thru expedia and paid at the hotel reception, it was a ping pong game over the phone. Finally we got our refund back, but it was a complete hassle. There is a lot to add, I will just finish off with posting the pictures and warning others:STAY AWAY FROM THIS RAT HOLE!

Great for a visit to see a ghost of a once great past. This Resort reflects the USA, it was built during a time when class and culture were part of Americana. It has fallen into disrepair and is borderline derelict. Truly sad.A once amazing place, that would still shine if it wasnt for the useless and terribly-placed off-ramp/bridge and lack of care, upkeep and attention. On every floor, there are pictures of its glorious history. The worst place to stay spend a little bit of more money and find yourself a better place this place has roaches the bathroom had what I thought was boogers, blood and other stuff stuck to the walls the headboard was on the floor there was a lot of dirt and trash under the bed when I opened the cabinet the first thing that fell out was a roach we were in the bathroom and the mirror randomly just cracked Im assuming from the steam and the hair dryer running from my wife doing her hair at the same time I went to the front desk and mentioned something and they said they would switch my room I passed on the offer and just stayed in the room and dealt with what I had expected for them to do something more for me like at least give me a discount but when I got home I was charged a security deposit which I assume was for the mirror I called the property and no one answers the phone had my booking agent call as well and no answer. They also have a scam going on with the parking lot the guy that sold me the parking space in front of the registration office said he was going to guarantee me a parking space for $20 a night or I can pay 25 and pay in the big parking lot and have to walk a distance so I did the $20 a night with him my second night I had a problem where a gentleman would just parking cars from an event that was going on in the hotel I told him I was going to come right back I need my parking space he says we do not guarantee parking spaces here so I went to the front desk to speak to the Spanish lady behind the counter and she said she does not know anything about the parking spaces being sold so as I was walking away the gentleman magically appeared at the front door and said is there a problem I said yes this gentleman said that wasnt going to have a parking space when I came back I did have my space but the lady at the front desk jumped in the car with him and what I assume was their child and drove off Im just puzzled at why she said she does not know whats going on in the parking lot when they obviously look like they were a couple how do you not know whats going on in your parking lot when this gentleman is there all day and he has a room on the side of the hotel which looks like a little storage area. The hotel is very old and tired I bet at the time the hotel was built this place was gorgeous but now its very tired a lot of abandoned stores inside. And there was also roaches coming out the trash can in front of the elevator and since were speaking of elevators there was only one working at the time and the one that was working felt and look dangerous the door just slams and closes if you get caught between it I think you would get hurt. But the beach was great and the Christmas candy cane parade was at the time of our stay and that was great they handed out candy canes and had the parade going down the boardwalk very nice. They had a couple of restaurants across the street but they were pricey and it looked like you needed a Mercedes-Benz just to pull up there they had a taco bar and the same parking area as the hotel which was great serve tacos had beer and live music had a great time there.

The janitor showed me where they were. There are elevators and stairs that lead to the hotel rooms. Near the security desk. The elevators dont all work. One of them stops on every floor and you cant go by what the led number is. You have to go by the wall to see what floor your actually on.The rooms are okay. The rooms are not sound proof. Location is great! But the building appears post apocalyptic; the 1st and 2nd floors are derelict, missing ceilingtiles, driedup fountains, stained couches, and faded 1990s tiling. There are only a handful of low quality businesses still in operation with the vast majority of storefronts closed. The security guards do a pretty good job considering the dismal state of affairs, and keep most of the riffraff out. The front desk staff is extremely inefficient. Theyre friendly and helpful, but every task seems enormously burdensome, requiring long studies of computer screens, phone call, and visits to foreign offices well abroad. Its not uncommon to see the front desk manned simply with a sign that says Be back in 5 minutes. The rooms are not soundproof. If youre okay with the beauty of rundown and deteriorating places and are patient, this place will be fine. I enjoyed myself, but was shocked by the condition of the place.

Stayed 6/1/17-6/5/17. I normally take reviews with a grain of salt but I have to say I agree with most of it. Like most said, this hotel has huuggeee potential to be a 4 to 5 star resort but it completely misses the mark on so many levels. It is in desperate need of a serious makeover. The flooring is mismatched through out and the decor is stuck between the 1920s and the 1970s. Ceiling is either covered in some type of tin or stucco. When you walk into the reception area, it feels like you stepped into American Horror Story: Hotel, The Shining and the bates Motel. The lighting is very dull and dim giving off a creepy vibe making it feel haunted and deserted. The actual reception area is on the 2nd floor which is nice which honestly sticks out like a sore thumb to the lobby areas. I checked in at 1am and process was simple however the older gentleman was not very welcoming at all and seemingly did not want to be bothered. The hallways were creepy AF and the nasty carpeting looked as though it has not been changed since the 19th century. First room was 431 which was very dumpy and old. Honestly we thought of changing to another hotel the next morning however Fabia was very accommodating and we were given a new room 430, a design suite which was way better. This room is what should be standard for all rooms. It also faced the ocean, so make sure you get a even room number. There are 3 elevators but only 2 were working. There are no restaurants or bar on site which is a shame. No room service either. The place where you get breakfast just has tables to sit in front of a small counter. It is not a full kitchen and there is literally one person cooking in a tiny frying pot making the food. There used to be a food court but businesses left about 6 years ago and it does not seem like its coming back anytime soon. I was unable to see the gym but from what I hear its needs some TLC. There is a lot of unused space that really could be turned into a little entertainment area like a game room, night club etc. I also was not expecting to see a psychologist office next to the reception area on the 2nd floor.Apparently there a several owners that own various parts of the hotel and none are interested in renovating it. The hotel itself has about 200 rooms and the remaining 400 are condominiums where some owners reside in while others participate in the hotel program. There are talks of selling the property but all the owners cant agree on anything. Its a shame to have such a great piece of property that is in shambles. Also, valet and self parking is not operated by the hotel but you are given a discount if you stay there. The self park rate was $22/night which can be prepaid for however long you need it.Bottom line: Its a cheap option if your on a budget but I honestly would pay more for a more comfortable and enjoyable stay. So this is the first and last time that I would stay at this hotel. Would not recommend.

In its hayday I am sure this place was a haven. Today however it is virtually a ghost town. It is run down, stinks of cigarettes, marijuana, and urine. The security isnt exactly friendly, but the custodians were.Lets start with the good. The bed was comfy in our room. I think that was more to do with our landlord than the hotel itself. The location is good. A bit in the ghetto but directly across from the beach and the pool was large, secure, and clean. Plenty of little shops, a convinience store, and a bar right there. If you dont mind walking a bit, quite a few restaurants to choose from (read reviews before choosing one). The bad - There are 3 elevators, two are out, and the one that is working was last inspected 2 years ago (see picture). I chose to take the stairs to & from the 5th floor all week. One ride in that death trap was plenty for me.The laundry facilities were quite lacking and we were afraid to use the washing machine & the dryers didnt work (see pictures). Instead we rode our rented bikes (from the bike shack) a couple miles into town to a laundromat (squishy I believe it was) and washed our clothes there. I recommend that place. The ice machine was non-existent.There are signs for recycling, but only one trash can.The ugly - If you value your life, Id stick to the stairs. But bring something to breathe through. The stench of fresh urine permeates every atom in the stairwell. There are candy wrappers scattered throughout, and the last flight is very slippery. All in all - if youre looking to save money, dont need to wash clothes, and dont mind walking up & down the stairs, this is a no frills, inexpensive way to stay on the beach. I would stay here again myself. But if youre not in the kind of shape to walk the stairs multiple times a day, need something fancy, and dont mind paying for location, go elsewhere.

Wow! Scary!! The room is clean and the beds appear to be new but wow, this place is scary! Wish I didnt book at this hotel. Parking is absolutely a nightmare, the garage was full and the streets were crawling with cars. We had to leave the area and drive inland for a late lunch just to escape the madness. Got back and was lucky to find a very tight parking spot in the garage. This isnt the best area either so I dont want to leave my kids alone. So yes, I made a huge mistake booking this hotel.

I spent 6 weeks here and it was great! Wasnt fond of the overnight staff but everyone else (front desk, security, maintenance) was great. The circuit made it easy to get around.

This is a beautiful beach with a really nice boardwalk. Not really a good place for shelling, but I loved walking along the shore and taking in the beautiful ocean views and having the waves break at my feet. Im a beach bum from the Jersey shore who now lives in the midwest, and this beach brought back happy memories. Along the boardwalk are places to eat and shop, both of which we did. The beach and boardwalk were very clean. Id come back here in a heart beat!

The room wasnt what I was expecting the hallway definitely need some renovation but the only positive about is that the room had a full kitchen (stove, sink, fridge) definitely a plus and the oceanview but compare to other small mom and Pop hotel they need to step they game up but the room for the purpose and really professional staff

Not my cup of tea at all. Old place, on the beach....pool closes at 7 pm, elevators not working, but one with a long wait time....etc....never again. And if your key happen to not work after the office closes prepare yourself for a whole nightmare getting into your room. Parking your car around would be $4-$5 / hour on the street, or in the public garage right next to the hotel.

So it’s definitely a run down place. When we were there two elevators were down out of three. The staircase was also quite sketchy but we often took it. It’s $10 to check in and to use the pool and parking around here is pricey. I’d advise getting the week guest pass if parking here for $21/ week but you have to park a few blocks away. The rooms are nice depending on who owns it. But the hallways and common spaces are a little grungy. The location and beach are great though. Some quite noisy guests though.

Really really needs a serious level of upgrading. No ice machines??? Really??? In a hotel, in FLORIDA??? Staff is very nice and they work with what they have but it was disappointing. This can TRULY be an amazing spot to stay at. Right on the end of the boardwalk and such a huge oiece of property. A shame it hasnt evolved into something better. Totally has the potential to be Margaritavilles competition.

The historic gives it away - a step back in time. At one time this mustve been the place to be seen (as the photos around the resort show). It needs some SERIOUS updating. As I checked in there were 2 new arrivals refusing to stay due to lack of cleanliness and broken furniture etc. There is only 1 out of 3 lifts which work - this seems to be the norm! An OK place to stay at a budget price. Great location and the reception staff were really helpful.

Do NOT stay here! It is NOT as nice as the pictures. The parking is VERY expensive. The local drug dealers seem to live there. My room had roaches, and I had to sleep with the lights on and my belongings in plastic bags. The bathroom was gross and the kitchen had dirty pots and such. If I could have gotten a refund, I would have. So I slept in my clothes and put a towel down in the shower. It reminded me of the hotel in the movie The Shining. Book elsewhere.

Do not stay here! Sketchy is the perfect definition of this place. Did not feel safe at all. Only stayed 3 hours and most of that was on the beach.

We rented a unit thru Airbnb. I love the location and historic value of the building. The architecture was amazing. Its sad how empty the retail spaces are. At one time this had to be THE place to stay.I wont comment on the room here since its not managed by the hotel. We were on the 3rd floor and every trip down the hall was like walking thru a smoke joint. They definitely dont enforce the no smoking policy. I didnt feel unsafe, but I can see how many people would feel that way.Onsite parking was something like $25 a day, so I got a week long parking permit with the city for $20 and parked at a meter on the street.

I found parts of the property looking nice other parts not. If you are an Orbitz member you had a separate office to get your room. It was hard to find off the highway. It is located immed North on A!A and 820. The hotel has the name Hollywood Resort Hotel on it not Florida Destination. Great location a block away from the beach.

Didnt get murdered.Im giving it two stars because I didnt get murdered or bed bugs. The staff I did see were friendly. The hotel is in a state of despair. Historic in the place seems more like in ruins than old school glamor. You can easily see where in the 1980s this place could have been awesome. It looks like the hotel group who owns it just does not care to renovate and the staff is doing the best they can with limited resources.

THE HOTEL IS IN A NICE LOCATION AND THE ROOMS ARE OK.. BUT THE PRICE IS A NOOOO FOR ME.. I MEAN. I PAID $275 FOR 6 DAYS(NOT BAD). BUT WHEN I CAN THERE TO CHECK IN.. OMG. THE PRICE WENT UP TO $515. THEY CHARGE HOTEL FEE, CLEANING FEE FOR WHEN U CHECKOUT, BUT IF U NEED IT WHILE THERE. ITS ADDITIONAL CHARGES PER SHEET CHANGE AND CLEAN TOWELS, TAXES(NO PROBLEM) THEN THEY HIT WILL ALL THAT ADDED UP WITHOUT THE DEPOSIT OF A $100.. THATS CRAZY. AND IF YOU IS STAYING OVER A WEEK AND HAVE TO CHECKOUT AND BACK IN, U HAVE TO DO THE SAME CHECK IN STUFF ALL OVER AGAIN INSTEAD OF THEM ADDING IT TO THE ROOM YOU ALREADY IN.. NO ICE MACHINES. OTHER THAN THAT.. NICE PLACE TO BE ON THE BEACH

This hotel is the worst of the worst. The rooms are not bad but the service is ridiculous. “House Keeping” doesn’t exist here, if you want fresh towels $10 extra, if you want your room cleaned $35 extra. You need toilet paper? You better bring your own because that’s another item they don’t supply. Went to go wash my clothes, machine ate the money, and it doesn’t work. Went to the front desk to let them know... the response I got back was “we are not fixing that, it isn’t our problem”. The young Russian at the front desk is extra rude.

Definitely has that faded glory feel to it, but its still in many ways a special place. You can almost here the echos of the past chatter in the lobby. They have a commercial feel in the lobby as well with a few businesses based on convenience. The bike rental location is right in the lobby area as well. #hollywood #hollywoodbeach #boardwalk

Be forewarned. This hotel is also a partly transient boarding place. All sorts of undesirables are roaming the halls and there is absolutely no security. Room was disgusting. I will post pics. Couldnt use the bathroom which was revolting. . Stains of indeterminate nature on walls. Also they lost my reservation and made me wait four hours to sort it out. Also the charge for the shuttle to the port is $9 but they charge double!! if you are single. So I had to pay $18 while couples in the van paid $9 each. This place is absolutely NOT where you want to stay. Be forewarned!
