What a wonderful place. Lovely museum with running model trains, literature, handouts, displays. Ride the train around lakes park, super fun! Would give this more than 5 stars!

The museum is small but it’s very inexpensive. It’s only $5 dollars for adults and kids above 5 years old. Under five years old is free. The price includes a 15 minute ride on a mini train around the park. The museum is a part of the lakes park which offers many outdoor activities like walking, water bicycling, bike riding, wildlife viewing, picking, barbecuing, playing on the playgrounds, etc. This is why I gave it a five star rating because it one of the nicest parks I have ever been to. The railroad museum has different operating hours than the park. The park closes at dusk.

Right now the museum is closed but you can see a some of it thru thewindow. my boys love going to see the big train outside (they are 2) and walking along the little train tracks thru the park. They also like the little village they have along the tracks. Had hoped it would of opened this year but due to covid guess its not happening. Will change my review once it opens and we can check it out more.

Enjoy a lot the ride on the little train and the magnificent views around the lakes. The little museum shows a lot of history about the railroad on the area. Splendid place!

Great place for kids and yes, I enjoyed the train ride too. I found it relaxing. But this a great place to learn more about trains and experience the train.

That was really fun! The train ride is better than expected, and the museum is full of cool train stuff. Theres even a snack bar to eat lunch at. I wish we had this park near me!

Just beautiful and so much to see and do! A huge train that once travel the East Coast a train museum Surrey bike rides and little boat rides in the lake. A nice gift shop and snack bar. Beautiful picnicking area bicycling and walking and a lovely little train ride throughout the grounds. The whole family will love it!

Fun place. Small but enjoyable. Free which is nice and there are lots of other things to do as well. The train simulator is fun!

Wooohooo this place was amazing, higley reccommend this place, it was so cool and alot of fun. Perfect for the family or even just a break. Its inside the park and what a enjoyment this was. I will return here every time I go back to Florida. The little trains that you ride on amd the museum that they have where you can use a lil train simulator its so neat and a learning experience as well. We went down here for vacation to a home we own in the cape and this will be a place I take them every time and will never get old. They drop you off at the end of the ride at a snack shop which is perfect. And the ride is like $3 its such a smart idea, you will not regret this decision.

This is so cute to take kids on and its not too pricey. Love the lights and all the details on the houses and models. Definitely recommend this for an afternoon with the family.

The Railroad Museum is fun for the family. There is a nice Museum, park, playground and train ride. My Family and I had a lot of fun.

Nice place to visit, even off season there were many people enjoying the miniature railway. Go visit Im sure you will be happy you did.

Small footprint, but excellent museum of railroads in SWFL and elsewhere. Scale railroad display with local scenes, many artifacts and displays. Virtual railroad allows a child (or adult!) to interact with an authentic engine control panel and guide their train down the track. Film and self-guided tour, as well. Knowledgeable and friendly docents eager to share their expertise.

VERY informative!! Has a simulator where you can experience what it feels like to drive a train. Lots of fun!! Also has an outside train ride that is fun!!

It is nice but it is very small. I wouldnt really call it much of a museum. However, it is nice to pop in for a minute just to check it out while you are at the park. Lakes Park itself is one of the best parks I have ever been to. If you arent there for the park, however, dont go expecting it to be a legit museum.

This train museum is located within Lakes Park. There is also a large outdoor playscape for kids that is train themed. There is a mini train ride around the park for touring purposes as well as surreys and kyacks to rent. A food stand is located close to parking lot 3 near the bridges entrance. Highly recommend.

Our toddler loved watching the model trains go around. However it would have been nice to have just a small step so he could see better. His daddy and I got tired of holding him up to watch. But the park is nice. Wouldve been nice if we couldve rode the train too but the tracks were down because of mowers.

Its a lot of fun for kids especially on the holidays you can ride the train is awesome

Travelling with kids? Then visit this place. It is situated in the Lakeland park. A small museum with toy trains, a train simulator and elderly volunteers who runs this place. Our kids loved it. Then there is the mini train outside the museum. A ride takes about 15 minute along parts of the park with miniature buildings along the ride. The kids went crazy about it.There is a playground next to the museum.

We took our son here since he LOVES trains and we had a great time. Watching the mini trains inside the museum go round and round and the details in each stop is just perfect. We were able to purchase him a little train as well. Then we took a 15 min train ride which was icing on the cake.

Amazing place for kids and those who still have that spirit. Place close by 3:30.. so better rush. There is ample parking and enough picnic spots. They do have bike rental as well.

Great place to take your kids. They have a simulated engine. The kids can actually operate it. There are tracks set up with running trains. They have videos and memorabilia. Its great history.

So fun and the train ride is so neat. We loved this park. The volunteers who run it were wonderful. 4 year old nephew and 1 year old daughter loved it.Also the surrounding park is great. This would be a half day of fun for the whole family, especially those with young children.

Its a great place for everyone. They have beautiful walking trails. A place for little ones to play & a cute train ride for the family.

This was a great stop for our kids....theyre younger but still had a blast!!! We rode the train, then saw turtles swimming in the large lake!!! The splash pad was a perfect finish to the trip!!! If youre looking for a place to just let your kids run definitely make this a stop!!!!

Fun train experience for kids and adults! Recommended

Kids loved the playground but it was the only thing open. They closed the train and the museum due to changing the onramp which didnt make sense that the museum would be closed too. Very disappointed as the website didnt mention only said they could close at any time. Closing till September just for this.

Great museum, kids loved it.

Really great for kids! Not fancy, but there are interactive exhibits for the kids and you can ride the train around the entire park. We had a super time with our grandkids, ages 3 and 2.

Cute park with lots of swings and play areas. They offer fun bike rides for the family with a little ice cream shop to top it off!

This is such a fun place to visit. The train ride is fun for all ages. My kids love coming here. The little museum is pretty small but definitely entertaining for the little ones. My boys love see the train models.

It was amazing. I begged my nephew & this was the 1st time my nephew had been there & hes had 14 Birthday parties there. He Loved it & Im so glad I begged him to take a walk away from his party.

Lots and lots of fun for the kids. The train ride is awesome and the museum has a amazing display. Its a great place to get into the AC for a break while walking the trails. If you have a train fanatic in the family, this is a must see.

Only go around the holidays but really enjoy the lighted train ride. Seems odd to pay to park but it is worth it.

Great for children with the 1.5 miles mini train ride around the lake. Also you can rent bike cars for 4 persons to drive around the lake and watch alligators. Also there is the last real oldtimer steam locomotive with waggons from the swamp wood business.

The museum is open only on weekends during the summer of 2019! The train ride is closed due to construction.

If you are interested in learning about history and rail roads this is the place to be. There is also a train set there that you can ride through a section of the park. A lot of interesting items on show here.The museum is inside lakes park, so it is a stop in an all-day visit to the park.

Nice small museum.As far as exposition its quite dire, but since the places is at reconstruction and attendance is free you wouldnt loose too much. But if you want something more interesting Lionel museum in more interesting.But the jewel of this place is train ride - its fun for the whole family.So if youre near by it definitely worth visiting. But not as specific destination. Except if you plan to use the park grounds as well.

So fun...something everyone should do at least once.
