Great view. Worth a look. Honest Abe Lincoln was there in 1859, so it must be cool.

Beautiful historical marker commemorating a visit by Abraham Lincoln. From this spot, he designated Council Bluffs the Eastern terminus for the Union Pacific railroad. The Lincoln Monument is in a beautiful historic neighborhood and offers stunning views of the Missouri River Valley.

Was sad to see the flame torch was out but maintenance is tough.I truly enjoyed the view of the area and could picture what it was like to see that point from a time when no homes or trees may have obscured the vast amazing landscape. It sadden me to think of the real history we do not teach or reveal to ourselves and kids. The real tail of the rail is hidden in this small place with just a glimpse into the past.My kids had 6 years of so called advanced American history and the connection to financial and industrial knowledge still alludes them and there understanding of how wecame to be Americans. This decisions was the beginning of the end. To our Native cultures, societys, and lost forever spiritual knowledge and understanding of the real American frontier and the lessons they learned and how to flourish for 1000 generations and not destroy the environment or pollute the world. The buffalo anillation that take place soon after, shouldstand as just one example of the destructive nature of progress and capitalism. We really needed to slow the heck down and learn so much more before we let the greed of humanity take over and virally eat our way thru time.

This is an interesting Monument with beautiful views. It is smaller than I expected, but it is still worth a visit.

Besides the 3 male bums doing some sort of adult bedroom acts behind a grocery cart that was filled with black hefty bags it was quite a romantic setting. The free show we had a glimpse of set the passionate mood. Thanks CB. 2 pitched tents up is my score for this monument.

Rare is the opportunity to walk the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln, and he stood at this exact spot. From the monument you can see hundreds of miles of the Missouri river valley.
