I love the black angel. She is so majestic and very photogenic. I would definitely recommend her if you are sightseeing in Council Bluffs.
It was a long time since the last time I was here but felt the need to check it out. The cemetery has a lot of cool history.
I remember when I was a teenager we would go up there and park and get busy. The black angel I remember if her eyes followed you as you walked around the area you would be dead in the morning.
It has a sidewalk of small pebbles, which were really slippery when wet. It is a nice quiet place to sit and reflect on life and death. It was nice to visit, then we walked around the grave yard, viewing the various grave and tombstones. Some of the graves face down hill into various valleys, I thought it might be a nice place for a final rest. Not that Im in a rush!
I love the black angel statue! She is just beautiful and has a wonderful aura to her.
A friend showed me the statue and told me the story...I shared this beautiful peaceful place and its story with my granddaughters, perfect !!!
Went here with my family. Very beautiful and the neighborhood always was very unique.
Cool statue, off the beaten path .
The story behind the angel is real and genuine. If you go there, drive through this cemetery. This is one of the most well kept cemeteries that I have seen.It is amazing how large it is and how old some of the gravestones are.
Just off the road 2 miles from I80 and well worth the visit.
She has been here before, shell be here long after...all of us.
The Black Angel Statue in Council Bluffs is a must-see attraction. Erected by the children of Ruth Anne Dodge as a tribute to their mother. Beautiful copper statue that will take your breath away. Dont look into her eyes on Halloween though, because this Angel is on the national register of most haunted places in the United States.
NICE & PEACEFUL PLACE
Best turn up spot but it easy to get caught
I have heard so many stories of this land monument. Because of the vibe I dont go close.
Went to se the Ruth Dodge Memorial aka the Black Angel. There was an overall sense of peace and healing among the pin oaks and flowerbeds. The angel sculpture itself is as beautiful a piece of 19th century bronze sculpture in the country. In fact the artist that sculpted it were friends of the Dodge family and he had sculpted works for most of the federal buildings built at that time around post civil war Washington D.C.
Beautiful old cemetery.
Fun place
She was beautiful as always, fountain running beneath her as it should be..glad to see the town of cb is atleast greatfull for 1 of the amazing gifts given to the city by one of its 1st and most prominent familes, the Dodges, since they have basically destroyed everything else they were left by them....
It was interesting, but not taking a second trip
Pleasant cemetery, the black angel is off to the side of the cemetery. Just a few steps up from the top of the hill will allow access to risk you life by reaching up and touching her hand where it is said to take your life in some terrifyingly gruesome way
Awesome. Didnt feel scared. Almost embraced. My mom dramk from her fountain. Ill keep you posted
Beautiful but the city needs to do some cleaning to make it exceptionally!

Local historical legend brought to life! Definitely a sight to see, the beautiful Black Angel.
She was beautiful!! But, she only had eyes for a buddy of mine. Come to think of it, It was the last time we seen him... ... ...
So much beautiful history
Always awesome to chill by The Black Angel in the summer time when her fountain is going. The graveyard backdrop makes it a perfect location for spooky stories.
Peaceful and quiet!
Best childhood memories ever
I remembered going to see the angel with friends when i was younger, I now work for a construction company and we were asked to do some work on the angel. I learned a lot of history and little facts that a lot of people dont know, all from the neighbors and the gentlemen in charge of getting the work done. It is absolutely beautiful. It is made of bronze and the patina on it is amazing. It is a very peaceful place to visit.
Nice and quiet. Cameras to make sure theres no damage done.
The Black Angel statue is a beautiful piece of art by the same artist who created the Lincoln memorial statue. While it may be shrouded in urban legend the art shines through.
Spirits call deer and its nice and quiet
Such a beautiful and underrated place to visit in Council Bluffs
Have many fond memories from here as a child. Hasnt changed a bit

The statue and memorial are beautiful
Beautiful place to go in the paranormal field
One of cbs many cool things to see. Theres a lot more to iowa than people think.
Its a great place for people to stop and see part of our history.
Historical, represents a dream of Ruth Dodge. Sculpted by Daniel Chester French. Ruth Dodge, wife of Grenville Dodge, Engineer of UPRR.
Good spot to teach kids a little history of 100 years ago
