The pedestrian bridge is absolutely amazing! This is something we needed decades ago. Tom Hanafan Rivers Edge Park is beautiful. The only downside is its prone to flooding when the river goes up after extended rain or snowmelt. It really transformed what used to be river bottoms with plenty of wildlife.
This park provided a beautiful view of the Missouri River from the bridge. A spot on the bridge noted the border of Iowa and Nebraska! We rented electric bicycles to get around the park in a fun and fit way. Beautiful landscaping, sidewalks, and paths. Fun daytime activity.
Great walking trail if u are adventurous enough to walk that far but for biking its would be great as well
As i already posted about the bridge, the 5 acre green space is incredible. I must teturn to see the light show and games. Such an undertaking and a wonder of intra city cooperation.
Such a lovely place. Clean and safe and beautiful scenery.
I live walking along the bridge. Its so peaceful! Watching the wildlife while I walk is an experience worth its weight in gold.
Nice park pavilion area. Trail goes around the main green space, although frequently has large puddles and goose droppings. Some benches/seating. Trash cabs almost always overflowing.
Beautiful little park on the CB side of the pedestrian bridge. We enjoyed exploring it and have a snack on the roof of the pavilion. Has an elevator so it is accessible to all. There were a couple pains of glass that were shattered, but we went a couple days after a hail storm so unsure if that was a result of that storm or not. Some of the park features were roped off due to the flooding as well, which was fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time.
At peace when you realize the river really runs quickly and the sounds of the birds was awesome.
Best place to get for fresh air and scenic views
Do not waste your time coming to this park. Its probably a good spot to let your dog poop though.
So sad all the damage done by the flooding new pavilion is really nice but cost to rent way too high. Easy access to the John Carey bridge. The new lights on the walk bridge between Council Bluffs Iowa and Omaha Nebraska are so beautiful at night, dont forget to bring your phones for pictures.
Very nice place for peaceful walks and getting some fresh air!
Nice place to view the Omaha skyline and see the river, however we sat down on a bench for a picnic and I immediately got sprayed in the face by the sprinkler. 4 stars because we got a good laugh out of it
Nice park with beautiful views. Love the pedestrian bridge and sculptures.
Whether youre going to a concert or looking for a place to chill, it is a perfect place and space to do it or anything really.
Great place! Deserves love!
Great scenery in to Omaha and a nice place to go for a walk
Its a park that can be easily accessed and a nice place to stop off for a quick walk. Youll have to drive through a few parking lots from the casino to find the actual park. On the day I was there they had a small market with various vendors. The bridge crossing over to Omaha is a fun walk. Its neat to see the river from up high and kind of cool to be in two places at once (the line for Iowa and Nebraska is marked on the bridge). If you cross the bridge you will be near the ball park and the Century Link Center in Omaha.
Scenic river views, green space, and lots of paths for active families and fun
Easily accessible park, Bob Kerry pedestrian bridge is right there, but no restroom access in winter months- only reason I didnt give 5 stars
It was beautiful and so peaceful
Great place to enjoy together with the family and friends but the place was not well-maintained as well as the facilities.
The bridge and park is awsome but its sad how people leave there trash around
They have a great area to relax.
Gorgeous place.
Cool place to take the scenic view but bring your walking shoes since its a long way across that bridge. Be sure to stop at the mark halfway and get your pic in two states at once.
It is the most beautiful at night, my favorite part of the trail is currently closed but hope it is open again soon. Great place to get some exercise.
Nice place To Ride on the Boat!!
Run by national park service, interesting visitor center and can walk from Omaha to Nebraska and back on the pedestrian bridge over the river. Fun!
Relaxing when there arnt little juvenile delinquents causing a ruckus. If i stared at people in Texas like they do to people here i wouldnt be alive. Its a very disrespectful. So worry about yourself.
On the Iowa side of the Missouri River is one of Council Bluffs newest creations. Built on the location of the historic Dreamland Park now boasts a wonderful place for families to attend events throughout the year. A great place to visit as the pedestrian bridge connects downtown Nebraska to Iowa, allowing bicyclists joggers and those wanting to take a stroll along the river. The one place where people of all kinds can share the simple or not so simple hobbies. With convention rooms and outdoor seating there is a well maintained field with lighting through out the night provided. Clean restrooms and a great place to let your pets and children run out any energy they have. A large sand box attraction for everyone to play in if desired. As well as benches along the shore to comfortably relax as you fish or just take in the view of Nebraskas historic downtown skyline. I suggest a blanket and a picnic basket with a bottle of wine any time through out the day or Frisbee and fishing poles. There is always the chance to see the Sandhill cranes and white tail deer wonder on to the field with you since the nature reserve is incorporated with the modern park. Parking provided off of Harrahs Blvd located off of the i29 Harrahs casino exit.
Didnt spend any time at the park, but the walk bridge was awesome, especially for sunset & night pictures.
Had an amazing time out with family!
Great place for anything picnics games lunches quite time.
Love the bridge ️
So nice
Great times and free. Nice area to go for a walk... Weather dependent of course.
Beautiful work what theyve done down there
Cool place
Very excited for all the new businesses on the Iowa side. Its looking good!
No real river trail access. Disappointed
Although the park has not been completely finished yet... The park has a lot to offer... The reception building is very nicely equipped... More maintenance need to be done on the grounds areas of the park... The direct link to the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge is very nice. GPS navigation gave wrong directions to the park... Easier access need to be made to the park.
A brilliant way to experience the community in a casual fun loving way. Often has free concerts and other family approved events on the green. Very well taken care of, other than the construction always going on its a wonderful place to go anytime night or day. Secure and safe place for everyone.
Its always fun at The Walking Bridge. You can meet a lot of interesting people. We almost always see deer while we are here as well. Children and adults love jumping back and forth between Iowa and Nebraska. This is a nice place for families and for bringing your dog. Looking forward to Loess Fest.
A nice cool place to hangout or attend an event.
They added more lighting to the bridge which is nice hopefully people wont get shot there anymore
Great bike trails. I commute on my bike via these trails all the time
Had fun. Its a nice place to visit and work-out as well
Wonderful place for the family. Water play area for kids. Open field in front of a big stage for great outdoor free concerts all summer. Pedestrian bridge to cross the mighty Mo to the CentryLink center, historic Old Market District for great food and shopping, and the ball park for College World Series.
Its nice that the walking bridge is there to cross between Omaha, Nebraska & Council Bluffs, IA. Its especially gorgeous at night. However, Im really hoping once the apartments that (I think) theyre building are finished, a public playground of some kind is added back on to the property. Im quite upset that the one that was there was demolished.
Bueatiful speachless ...
Really pretty when river isnt flooded
It was flooded when we were there. Looked like a fun place when operational.
Many great things about this place... Except for... Its the first thing to get flooded when the rivers water level raises! Yeah good idea, spend MILLIONS of dollars on something that will literally wash away from erosion in a century. And even bofore that, the base of it already gets covered by the river when theres a solid rain...
The views are amazing! It would be awesome if people would clean up after their animals!
A great addition to the riverfront. And the public art is amazing.
Always a lovely place to go for exercise or entertainment. Property is overall well cared for. The rivers edge itself, not so great. Kids like the splash pad. Theres a button with a timer on it so theres no wasted energy.
Needs a lot of work after the floods
Calm and peaceful.
It is amazing what has been, and is being developed! It is fairly difficult to find the paths to get there, but that will get easier as it becomes a more regularly traveled destination. You can search online for a schedule of events for this Summer, many cools things planned!!
Rented the pavilion at Tom Hanafan Rivers Edge Park and it was a nice facility expect, it was rented for a childs birthday while the family was visiting from out of town. The splash pad was shutdown with no confirmed date of when it could reopen, at the time the party was booked the splashpad was fully operational. Inside the pavilion hall area, there are not changing tables for babies in either of the indoor restrooms. This made it fairly complicated with many parents with kids at this birthday party, I saw at least 3-4 parents in the 2 hrs we were there having to change their babies on the floor. For family friendly it was a failure.
A beautiful way to connect council bluffs and Omaha.
Nice place to walk to pedestrian bridge with lots of parking.
It looks great, and seems like a great idea, but this park is in a flood zone. any time the river moves up, you cant really use the park. I cant believe they made this instead of keeping soccer fields, and an actual playground.
Great pedestrians bridge from Nebraska to Iowa or vice versa
I took my children to the new splash pad area and for the opening of Loess fest. While the kids enjoyed the splash pad, I was not impressed with the jagged, sharp rock placed around the entire thing. Even the most diligent parent could not avoid their children getting injured. We visited for 2 hours and there were 3 children injured in that time. Its a wonderful new area and great layout apart from the rocks. Im not sure why the designers thought those would be safe.
Just walked the river front area. Good place to walk around. Did not walk the bridge today. First time walking. Today weather is wonderful day to walk.
The peace and quiet sound of tranquility & Serinity...
No stars new splash park is a joke. Really slick surfaces my granddaughter fell and cracked her head with in first hour being there. As for handicapped kids absolutely no way for them to enjoy anything there. Had to put a star or wouldnt post
Love this place. Great access to river front. Coolest interactive light show on grass field at night. Walk across bridge to Omaha, NE downtown area, also with riverfront access by walking. Conserts sometimes on green. Beautiful, peaceful place for entire family and great to bring pets also.
Beautiful, I was surprised to find this awesome bridge just for pedestrians to enjoy!
Veiw was beautiful walking across the bride was a great workout. There are no bathrooms at the moment due to construction but it was well worth it to go!! Great family bonding!
Great place for a walk or game of frisbee. Lots of room with a decent amount of parking. Theres a lot of construction going on currently so the scenery isnt great right now, and its a bit urban, but still not crowded and pretty well maintained.
Lots of outdoor space! Fun bridge and splash park for kids. Not a lot of shade, but bridge gets wind to cool down.
7-3-2019 nice well kept. Some of the park is flooded.
So beautiful! I love it out there
Floodef. But even if not the city of Council Bluffs sold most of the area to an apartment developer . Deztroyed the park for dollars!
Seen a concert. The crowd faces west and it was sunny. Not much shade and couldnt see anything until dark. Lots of restrooms and food vendors. Overall a fun day. Take lots of sunscreen, sunglasses and an umbrella
Great
It is getting better all the time. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. The expansive green space is large and inviting. The annual summer Memorial Day time frame is popular. There is a new visitor center planned and under construction as of this writing.Projected completion is Fall 2017. There will be a water sculpture feature and more family-friendly events will be happening theres. It is situated at the end of the trail of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. How many parks like this where you have free WiFi? Well, they have it here. Courtesy of Google.Great views of the downtown Omaha skyline. It is a perfect place to bring a picnic basket and watch the sunset. If there is one complaint it would be the scarcity of bathroom facilities. They seem too few and hidden.
An amazing bridge over the Missouri River. They have bike rentals, places to rest midway and take pictures, and the rails are high so no worries about falling. There is a great view of the city, lots of photos ops. Good luck
Nice place to walk in the evenings.... Very good views of downtown Omaha from the bridge
This is a beautiful park. Ive been to two free concerts here, Chicago and KC and the Sunshine Band. The park is clean and a perfect outdoor venue. You can also get a perfect view of the Omaha skyline with the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
I enjoy the interaction with the public, we receive a wide cross section of visitors from all over the country. As a parks employee assigned to this beautiful green space, we receive considerable positive feedback. I end each day with a sense of well-being knowing in a small way Ive made a contribution.
This side is flooded and there is no real appeal to it other than a few tables and a huge statue.
Great for concerts. Plenty of seating area. Parking is a long way away.
This place was relaxing. I would go again! I love the outdoors.
