The Rails West Railroad Museum is awesome! They have the coolest model train thats setup to look like Council Bluffs of yesteryear. This museum is set up in the historic Rock Island Depot. This structure has been in this spot since 1899. Theres an old steam engine on the premises along with a caboose and other equipment that has been used over the last 120+ years. Its an excellent place!

RailsWest was absolutely wonderful. I just had my wedding here on May 17th and it was fabulous. Kat helped us with everything we needed. She made sure we had the tables and chairs we requested, plus closing the venue for the time block we needed. The day was almost magical, it was so wonderful. Several trains went by during our time there, so we got to hear the horn and feel the rumble as they passed.I am very pleased as a train enthusiast to have been able to have my wedding here. It was my first time marrying and I will always look back on that day with fondness. This was the best time of my life.

Even though it was not open when we stopped by, the outdoor section is easy to view without a guide and the location is next to live track; you may see some yard action if youre lucky.

Our small wedding was here, and I cant say enough good about it. It was the perfect venue in every way. Plenty of space for food, the cake, dressing, etc. The acoustics are fabulous. It is bright and cheery. And the museum manager, Kat, was an accommodating and gracious host. Perhaps a non-traditional venue, but absolutely perfect for train aficionados (a train even went by and tooted their horn just as we kissed--perfect timing!). We will spend the rest of our lives being grateful we chose RailsWest Museum for our wedding.

The equipment is very interesting. As Mike Wolfe says crusty barn finds. The RPO was great. But they need better picnic tables. I would go again but not for lunch.

It needs some cleaning up. Stickers and cactus plants growing up around the trains that the kids got into. Otherwise nice to see and great that its beside real trains running.

A nice smaller sized museum. The museum part is in an old station with plenty of things to see. Its great for going to and actually seeing the insides of the station, cars and engines.
