Very courteous reception that was pretty painless. I was super afraid of a forced time share rant but all they did was ask us about joining them. The lady was very nice about it and we werent sure about our timing to do it and declined. So for us personally, not a big deal. The room itself was square and not small but not big. Bathroom was fairly small but was clean and seemed modernized. My only complaint with the actual room was the smell it seemed musty or just off. Not quite BO but BO. And Im sure its just because its an old building. But an air freshener or something would be handy here. The cottages themselves were pretty darn cute and endearing. So close to multiple breakfast options and near downtown Williamsburg. The room itself was super cheap as well. Would certainly stay here again. It wasnt big or flashy but I enjoyed it for the experience.

We needed a place that would accommodate a dog on this return trip to Williamsburg (we have a student at W&M.) This hotel looked nice and was convenient to campus so we gave it a try. It was perfect! The room, cottage-style, was very large. It was clean with plenty of space and two king-sized beds! Ample parking right outside and the staff was kind and accommodating. We didnt have time to use the many facilities (pools, mini-golf, lecture series, etc.) but would like to on a return visit. And we will definitely be back!

I fell like a rockstar staying in a villa. I live in Williamsburg and have passed the resort many times thinking it would be nice to afford it. I was amazed the price I paid for two days. We had a snow storm and no electricity at my house. Never noticed they have villas in the back away from the street noise. On the tv they actually provide good channels such as HBO free. Anything you need there are stores within walking distance and restaurants. If you are planning to visit Williamsburg this is where you want to be a guest. As a local resident I highly recommend it.

Very disappointing stay. We arrived only to find our confirmed reservation cancelled. After an hour of continued fiasco to include being on the phone with the reservation clerk and then disconnected, we finally got a room at the adjacent hotel. We unwisely agreed to the tour where we were subjected to not one, not two, but three sales individuals that held us hostage as we dared say we were not interested in what they were trying to sell us. Finally, we received our reward of our 50.00 gift card and certificate for a 2 night, 3 day stay at select resorts. We activated the certificate only to be told that we would need to take another 90 minute tour or they cannot guarantee they could book us a room for the dates we choose. Surprise, surprise, we got a follow up email stating that they could not book us a hotel room 7 months out as there were no rooms available for those dates BUT, if we reconsidered and agreed to take the tour, they were certain they could book us at a resort for those dates 7 months out. Would never do this again. Not worth the headache. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Marriott or Holiday Inn.

Can someone sent this to Mr Siegel. I will never come back to this location. I am trying to make the best of it but I am not pleased with this stay and I want my money back. Check in was pleasant, professional and quick, after a long drive, arrived to the third floor and looking forward to relaxing in our two bedrooms staycation for a week. I received an one bedroom with small attached studio with kitchenette. The second bedroom was actually a studio with kitchenette, not an actual two bedroom. I paid for two bedrooms. The couch and table lamp was blocking the attached door and the closet doors were blocking the front door, why didn’t housekeeping and maintenance fixed this before my arrival? Why wasn’t I in a two bedroom suite? I had to walk back to check in for help. Maintenance will be called. Security arrived and she radio for them to move the table lamp out. Then when I asked about the 2 bedrooms in the suite, she point at the door, that doesn’t open, “that’s the second room it locks out and attached to other side!” She said, you can enter from the hallway. Talking to me like I’m slow, ma’am I tried that first. Maintenance never arrived but security came and pointed- to the door, as if I didn’t try it before heading back to the front desk to ask for a two bedrooms, and not this. The owner should not have to move furniture after driving hours to get there. There were no directives on how to work the washer and dryer or the heat or air conditioning, and maintenance wasn’t very helpful, told me to push the buttons. I tried that but which one says “ON”. He said, didn’t say the button had to be held, wait for beep and set time. No he points in the air and say “push a button.” The rooms are small and the space is small. The rooms smelled old hot, and smoggy. The ceiling fan should be on a timer or a string or wall controller, to decrease or increase the speed. The lamp of the fan was dirty. Suggestions for Owner update meetings should be served with hot food and not cold selective box food, served by human with no gloves and sticky hand sanitizer. I waited for twenty minutes to get two boxes of cereal, water down orange juice and tasteless cranberry juice. If you are not going to invest in quality hand sanitizer, get plastic gloves for staff and visitors. The hand sanitizer set ups were empty. The pandemic mandates were not enforced by all. After visiting the outlets and candle store there is nothing else to do here. It’s boring. I didn’t find out about the game room and weight room until day 5. Limited handicap parking. Sitting areas was under my window. The pool setting was nice to look at. The bathrooms were cleaned. The vending machines were full. The grounds were clean. One star: false advertisement for two bedrooms suite.

The front desk staff were wonderful. Friendly and helpful. The tour we took (and timeshare presentation) was well done. The manager tried to talk us into buying and it got a little awkward. We didnt buy.Amenities are nice. Heated pool year round. However there are no breakfast options for regular guests. The rooms are fully equipped with kitchens, though, so thats a plus.TVs are not updated, so theres no access to Streaming or Rental options, other than bringing DVDs with you.Overall a very nice stay.

The good: the bathroom had clearly been recently remodeled. The location is centralized. The bad: grab a Snickers. My stay was in a king non smoking room in the motel style area of the property. Upon first impression, the door was stuck, the room was tiny & smelled, and the TV chose when it wanted to work or not. The walls were paper thin and I could hear everything the neighboring room was doing, down to their TV (luckily for them theirs worked). I did call the front desk about the TV and was offered to change rooms but it was midnight and I had been on the road for 3 hours and not up to doing that - so at least a solution was proposed. The shower head was permanently set to jet blast pressure wash and nearly took off my areolas. Last but certainly not least, the entire track on the bottom of the shower door was filled with mildew - which I finally determined was the musty smell that riddled the entire room. All in all, Ive seen far worse but Ive also seen far better. 2/5 wouldnt recommend.

At first, the Westgate Historic Williamsburg Resort seems great. The photos look wonderful the amenities sound great. What they dont tell you when you book a room is youre not getting whats in the pictures. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and were shocked and disapointed to say the least when we arrived in our room. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was wonderful. Very friendly and professional. She then asked the general manager to drive us on a go-cart which he kind of shrugged at. Thats when the first warning sign went off. They dont tell you when you book that youre booking for a room thats detached from the actual resort (about a ten minute walk to the main entrance). The rooms youre actually getting are in villas that were built in the 1940s. Of course, theres nothing wrong with an older room, especially in a historic town like Williamsburg. My second warning went off when we walked in the room and was overwhelmed with the smell of Pine-sol, as if theyre trying to hide something. As I continued inspecting the room my wife and I found over ten spiders and cob webs attached to the drapes. There was also hair and plastic wrap on the floor in the bathroom. Additionally, they had a small table with two chairs. Under the chairs cushion was also full of hair, crumbs, and who knows what else. Finally, the table was practically falling apart. Take your money elsewhere, there are dozens of hotels in the area that are just as affordable and you wont have a horrendous experience. My wife and I checked out the same day and booked a different hotel which gave us a deal because it was our honeymoon. The manager at Westgate didnt even acknowledge my wifes Just Married bag and the reason for our stay.

I dont even have words to describe this hotel, from the moment are family walked in we got stared down like we were nothing. Secondly we wanted a tour of the place to make sure we were getting what we paid for keep in mind no other hotel had a problem with having a SIMPLE tour, after being talked town and stared at we proceed to walk out. The same women that greeted us in, held the door open and watched us leave. We proceed to get in the car and the same women watched us get in the car and looked at are license plate before leaving. I wish I could give it 0 stares for the women in the front. Sad. I couldnt even rate the hotel for what its worth because of YOUR staff. Will not be stepping anywhere near this hotel again.

The resort had many villas off to the side of the main building. The villas were one room units connected to a couple other units. Our room was perfect for what we needed on a short weekend trip. The bathroom was small, but clean and had a nice window that let the light in. The one downside is that the walls were so thin that I could hear people talking in the next room close to my bed. And of course, I got the neighbors that decided to have a conversation through the late hours of the night. I called the front desk to ask the neighbors to speak quieter, but the walls are so thin I could hear them mumbling. This place says its a resort activities. We werent able to participate in those activities, so I cant speak to how well they were.

Our 2-queen single room was assigned in the further, motel-style part of the property, which was a little dated, but tidy and perfect for privacy and social distancing (our units doorway led directly outside, steps from our cars parking space, so we didnt have to interact with a soul after the Plexiglas-shielded check-in). The room was slightly musty but clean and spacious, including a table where our family of 3 could enjoy restaurant takeout meals. The 2 outdoor pools to choose from were also nicely maintained, and if we needed anything (towels, the wifi password, coffee for the coffeemaker) they were delivered promptly after a text message to the front desk.

The room was very nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was with housekeeping. We had to keep calling down for things like towels and toilet paper. Although the room was supposedly cleaned daily the only thing that was done was trash was emptied, the bed wasn’t changed the entire stay neither was the bathroom cleaned. I say all of this because if the room was properly cleaned we wouldn’t have had to call down for items daily. This stay was still one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

I did the tour and afterwards, I decided I wasnt interested in buying in and I felt as if they were gonna hold me hostage there until I agreed to buy. After the 90 mins and the tour were up, the manager made my sales person try to give me another 90 min tour, just because I said I didnt want to buy. They are too aggressive, if a person says no you should move on to the next person who might say yes. Dont waste time trying to convince ppl, by making them sit through 2 or more presentations.

Horrible experience. We are Westgate owners and this property has made it certain that we will be buying out of our ownership. They tried to offer OWNERS these tiny little bedrooms in a completely vacant property (couldnt book my free week because they were booked). The single bedrooms offered are not pictured on the website anywhere because theyre completely deplorable little shacks off to the side of the property. Front desk tried to offer me an upgrade after we wanted to cancel but quite frankly they should have never allowed an owner to be checked into that awful room when they had better options available. I will say the front desk staff was amazing. They didnt fight me on cancelling my reservation. They deserve the one star for their hard work. The property deserved -100 stars. We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge instead. Anyone checking deserves to know that too. We had a wonderful time there. If thats out of your budget, literally any other hotel is better than here.

Brought the kids here for a weekend visit to Busch Gardens. The price point and location are excellent. Trader Joes, CVS, The Fresh Market, gas, and ABC are all within minutes - if not right across the street. Although we didnt try any local restaurants, there are plenty to choose from (we cooked all of our meals). We stayed in a one-bedroom suite which was cozy and fully equipped for a family. My only complaints would be that the bathroom is not fully separated from the bedroom, and that the TVs are old with poor cable service. The kids loved the pool and game room. The pool frequently ran out of towels, but the staff was eager to remedy the situation when notified. I didnt have to sit through the sales pitch since my husband wasnt with me. Just be aware that they will ask you the minute you walk through the door. Overall, great place for a family trip. We will definitely go back.

However, upon checkin and being told our room was 1/4 mile away from the main building, and also an attempt to get us to sit down with them to listen to “amenities” for $125 gift card for towards breakfast. We realized this is actually a time share property, of which isn’t advertised. Obviously they were looking to sell us something which is so unprofessional immediately upon check in.When we drove around a long loop we found small groupings of buildings, and had to drive around twice to find our number along with there being NO PARKING SPACES. You are expected to park on the street, leaving your car open to be side swiped, hit, etc. Getting to the hot tub, and the pool (which was broken while here) is a car ride away. Never would’ve booked here if we ever knew it was a time share.

My family and I were visiting Colonial Williamsburg, and what drew me to this resort was the price. The rates were very affordable, so I was excited to be saving some money. When we arrived I was disappointed that we werent placed in a room near the main pool. Instead we were in a small unit that was a little ways off the main campus. But when we opened up our door to the room we were very pleased with the updated and clean room/bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of space for our daughters pack N play. The nice A/C unit kept our room very comfortable. They only serve breakfast to resort members (which I am not) but we brought our own breakfast to store in the mini fridge and heat with the microwave, which worked just fine. I would highly recommend giving this resort a try! I dont think youll be disappointed.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Westgate Historic Williamsburg. It is in a great location with easy walking or driving access to many restaurants, stores and Colonial Williamsburg. The king size bed was large and comfortable after a long day. We like the fact that the rooms are situated in their own little villages away from the main building. Unfortunately the rooms were not as clean as we expected. The blinds, floor, moldings and door in the bathroom were visibly dirty. The phone in the room was covered in a thick layer of dust; there was also spider and cob webs throughout the room. On our outside door and within the room we spent the weekend killing very large spiders, flies, mosquitoes and other insects; their was even a large spider in the bed. The hotel staff I spoke with was very pleasant and accommodating; we were told during the day that they would sent maintenance to spray but when we returned that night it was clear they had not. This property has so much potential but the rooms could benefit from a good deep cleaning and the grounds around the buildings could use maintenance and landscaping to address the issues.

The room was disgusting! From other reviews it sounds like it was a great place in the past, and I was extremely disappointed when I walked into my room. There was an extreme lack of hygiene standards and cleanliness. There were bugs crawling all over the ceiling and walls. They appeared to have gotten in through a large gap in the front door into the room (which also doesnt seem very safe). There were also large stains of what looked like paint on the carpet and smudges of some substance up the walls. Finally, there were SOMEONE ELSES TOENAIL CLIPPINGS ON THE CARPET! They werent hidden away either, they were easy to spot while walking around the room and could very easily have been vacuumed up. It was clear that the room had not been properly cleaned and was very disappointing. I would hate to think of what else was in that room and Im glad I left immediately. The website makes the resort look very attractive but be weary of the cleanliness standards. Also, many of the rooms are not located in the main part of the resort that is shown online, but instead are down the street with only street parking for guests. I wouldnt have minded being further away from the main resort if this had been shared with me prior to my arrival and if the room had been clean.
