The inside is better than the outside. The outside looks like a cheap apartment complex near a community college but the condos themselves are new, nice, and well furnished. Comfortable furniture and awesome porch for drinking morning coffee and a nice new kitchen. Conveniently located. I’d recommend staying here.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Great for a week long vacation with the kids. We traveled during Covid so the activities were cut down a bit and you had to put in a reservation to use the pool. I didnt mind that too much as they were doing their best to keep us safe. I love the quietness of the area and restaurants were literally down the street. I would have given it 5 stars but only missing the 1 star due to the somewhat outdated furniture but it was a fantastic trip nonetheless. Would highly recommend!

We have stayed at several of the Vacation Villages resorts and The Colonies at Williamsburg is by far the nicest! I would live here! Love the master bathroom shower. And its close to shopping and other attractions.

We come here every year for a reason! The staff are great, its clean, pools are great and its just a wonderful place to vacation with family! One suggestion I have suggested before is the adult swim should be 2 hours from 8-10am and not just 9-10am. If youre there youd understand why. I also have been coming here for years and the decor is the same and would love to see a revamp of the decorations in the rooms. If I can find pics Ill upload they are the same year after year except the couches are more worn. That does not reflect the rating of this place tho. Its centrally located from most of all the attractions and shopping locations. We love it and will be back. Pay them a visit, youll enjoy.

The check in process was nice and our unit appeared clean but was infested with roaches. We were up all night killing roaches... it was disgusting. They were all over our unit.

Lovely town house but the hours long hard sell to buy into is very difficult to walk away from. We were told you could sell the time share back to the company we found out this week that was an.out right lie. We were cohersed into hearing yet another selling seminar took 3 managers to tell them no we will not be buying any thing further maddening

Staying At the Colonies a great choice to use my certificates (2) to exchange from my home resort Kings Creek Plantation. The staff is one of the best Ive ever encountered on vacation. They did an outstanding job meeting my every need. We had a large group and actually accomodated 5. two-bedroom units. No on-site dining but there is no shortage on near-by eats or delivery services. They offer several daily activities including water aerobics. Tuesday and Thursday. Also all sorts of arts and crafts activities are available on a daily bases During the current Pandemic you have to schedule times for the pool and activities but because we were on the tail end of the summer season September 18-25,we had no problem with getting the times we wanted. Overall they get a 9. And a high recommendation for future travelers from me and my family

Very nice, clean, beautiful resort. Helpful staff, lots of activities to do, attractions were very close, restaurants and outlet mall just 5 minutes away. The pools were divided into sections and guests were given reserved hour intervals to enjoy their sections so everyone got a turn, which I enjoyed. We bought groceries and used the full kitchen and its accessories to cook and save money on takeout, and were able to wash all out clothes so we dont have to do laundry at home upon our return! There was so much to enjoy both in and around the property that we had a very eventful week of vacation. My only complaint and reason why I took a star, is that on vacation I like to sleep and keep my babies asleep past 7 AM, and these people were out bright and early cutting grass with a weed wacker outside the window or driving around on the carts with lawn sprays right outside the windows. Woke up my babies and I was not happy! Other than that, we had a great time and I would definitely come back!

This is our second stay here. We are always pleased with our stay. The rooms are clean and modern. The staff is friendly. We dont use the pool, indoor or outdoor but they look weel-maintained.

I recently took my family down for a week long getaway at the colonies and i personally feel that a few things need to be addressed for the greater good of the resort. One major item that shocked me was something i discovered in the outside pool. It was great that the pools were open in consideration of the pandemic going on right now; however, there was a hole in the bottom of the pool on lane 2. The hole was the size of a softball with sharp edges resulting from the concrete chipping away. Upon discovery I immediately notified the staff on the ground, that claimed to pass the info on to the maintenance, what really concerned me was the fact that two days later nothing was done to rectify the problem it was like no one cared about my concern and they tried to act like it wasnt a big deal, the edges were sharp enough to cut some unlucky person which could have been me. I personally feel with the amount that i pay each year for maintenance fees that should have been spotted long ago and handled in a quick and timely fashion. The second issue is the movies that are currently available for rent, majority of the movies are very old and very little new movies have been added to assortment for people to watch in their room. When i asked why was i seeing the same movies from the previous year again i was given a lame answer and quickly rushed away from the desk. It is long overdue for the rooms to be upgraded to blu-ray players for DVDs. The final issue was the treadmills in the weight room which were very dirty and in my personal opinion need to be lubricated. I am not a picky person nor due i ask for a lot, but some of these little things need to be fixed ASAP. I will still continue to take my family but i would like to see some changes.Thank you!!!

The rooms were immaculate. The grounds are well kept. The admin staff provided everything we needed. We cant wait to go back.

We rented a two bedroom, two bathroom unit on Pennsylvania Avenue for four days. While this is a timeshare community, we booked the room through popular travel site as a hotel room.Overall a great experience, the staff is attentive, polite, and engaged with their guests.Check in process was quick and well thought out, we were in our room about ten minutes after arrival.The unit was immaculate; it was well maintained with everything from carpet to appliances feeling new. It included two large bathrooms, a full kitchen, a dining area with a table for six, a washer and dryer stack.The kitchen was well equipped for daily cooking and included everything needed to prepare and serve family meals.The closest grocery store is a Food Lion, though a few minutes down the road is Harris Teeter. I encourage using Harris Teeters due to their full and superior (IMO) selection of prepared foods and grocery items; its open 24/7.The beds are comfortable; sheets are bulk bedding quality but are fine. The master bedroom had a king size bed, the guest room a queen size bed, the pullout couch also queen size and was comfortable for a pullout bed.The guest bathroom was quite large, had a single sink and a jetted tub. The master bath was more massive still. The commode was separated from the main part of the bathroom, the sink area had room for one, but there was a separate makeup table. The shower could seat three, was equipped with body jets and a massage head.The amenities were nice; indoor and outdoor pools, spray playground, hot tubs, game room.The complex is centrally located in Williamsburg.

The room was nice. Clean with good amenities. However, there weren’t enough parking places in front of our suite and we often found ourselves walking from the overflow lot. The pool hours were limited and there were not enough slots for all guests. We were only able to swim twice our whole week and the last day got canceled because they closed the indoor pool due to forecasted rain.

Great vacation, just no washer and dryer. Otherwise everything else wonderful.

Spent three weeks there after a one-week planned stay, but stayed two more weeks longer because all the personnel were very personable and professional, and the facilities were very accommodating, cozy, and appealing.

The Colonies at Williamsburg was a very very nice place to stay, especially if you have kids. And you couldnt ask for a better location, the Premium Outlet is in walking distance, not to mention there are a plethora of food options and things to do. Im really looking forward to returning.

Positive: I Loved the kitchen. Everything you could possibly think of needing was provided. Negative: I had to empty my own trash, and it was a distance for me to walk. But other than that this place is Outstanding.

They had amazing looking apts. and activities nearby that can be done. They had one problem with the rooms the day off but but time we got there it was fixed. I definitely enjoyed my stay.

Second time staying here. This week was all about relaxation. We hung out in the condo all week and with Covid-19 avoided the pool area and activities. We did go to Yankee Candle and the Outlets but this trip was mostly about shaking off work stress and chill time with family.

Older furniture Im guessing to fit the history of the city, but still newly renovated very clean and quiet, more for adults not to many options for children to have fun on the premises, Busch Gardens close but still closed..

Overall I had a good time here. The rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, loving rooms, and pools were all good. The problem I have with this place is the obnoxiously vile breakfast. It was served in a styrofoam box and it was cold as well as dry with little flavor. Youd think that a place with such high quality rooms and pools would have high quality breakfast as well, but not in this case. Though I have to say that the only meal I had there was the breakfast meaning that the dinner or lunch might be better. But other than the horrid morning meal I had, everything was very good.

I absolutely fell in love with holiday decorations in the main lobby that I just had to show it !! The resort is absolutely gorgeous as well!! I did not stay on property at this resort but did tour the units a couple years ago when they were under condition building new units and they were absolutely beautiful!!

My family and I stayed here over the weekend and we absolutely loved it! The property is gorgeous! you have to enter in through a guard booth where they check to verify your registration. Then you go into a gorgeous building where they check you in for your stay. Building staff are extremely nice. They have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool and a Park. Theres plenty of parking and the condos are gorgeous. We paid about what it would cost for a hotel and receive so much more than we even expected. We had two rooms in the condo, one with a king size bed. There was a full kitchen and dining room table, living room with a pull out couch, and a TV in every room. The bathrooms are extremely nice and there was plenty of towels and blankets. One of my favorite stays anywhere. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

This place is an excellent choice if you want to spend a few days for a vacation with family! Compared with the tiny room you see in a regular hotel, every unit in this resort is like home, with enough space for anyone to sleep and play. My boys are very happy that they have a separate room and a queen bed that they can comfortably sleep on!The price of the resort is about half of a ocean view room in a beach front hotel, but it provides much more facilities than a regular hotel! This time we only stayed for two days and didnt get a chance to use the pool or the tennis courts, but next time we will definitely do that.

A really good timeshare resort with a heated large indoor pool. Great place to vacation in the winter. We found the unit clean and well stocked with the usual kitchen supplies. They will try to get you to one of their sales presentations but we declined. We have all the timeshare we want and have always purchased on the resale market.

We own here and love the layout and appointments of the suites. Stainless steel appliances and washer/dryer in the units. The grounds are still under development. There is a pool indoor and outdoorl, however, I wouldnt call it a water park. There is a slide and sprinkler system in the water park. It is considered a resort, but not complete yet. In speaking with the management it doesnt seem like there is a target completion date or a full plan for that matter...Overall the units are best that this place has to offer. Very spacious and 4 star quality. There is plenty to do outside of the resort to keep you preoccupied. Restaurants, activities, tour attractions, you name it.

Stay was wonderfully nice during hard times. It would have been a 5 except for the stain couch. I said something about it twice no one responded.

Me and my family stay at the colonies at least 1 time a year for the past five years this last stay was the worst!! The fourth night we realized we had ants in our unit maintenance came out sprayed and told us someone would contact us the next night. That didn’t happen we had to call again the next night because ants where in our bed the rest said that maintenance was gone she would move us but we only had one more night being it’s one in the morning we slept on couch. So no maintenance showed up we called again all we got was a sorry and maintenance came out in sprayed again so our last night me in the prego wife on the couch again. We love the colonies but this stayed was horrible and all we received was a cold we’re sorry

This resort is very nice and laid out. The units themselves are neat, clean with modern decor. We stayed in the Massachusetts section of the resort. The unit had two bedrooms and full kitchen and living room. The bathrooms have plenty of towel racks to hang everything. We had a nice patio with a small table and chairs. In the back yard there was a picnic table and small charcoal grill. The resort had both an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool had slides and a lazy river along with a jacuzzi. There was also a dvd library where you check out older movies. They gave you plenty of starter items like dishwashing soap, tiolet paper, hand soap, shampoo, dish detergent and laundry soap. The units have a stackable washer and a dryer on the main floor. So each unit has 4 apartments if you will, two on main floor and two upstairs. The resort is centrally located close to restaurants and the outlet mall. There is a Foodlion grocery store minutes away. There are onsite security guards. I will definitely be back. Saturdays they have an outdoor movie night at the pool. We didnt stay to see The Little Mermaid . They sold smores kits for $2 and other movie snacks. The only bad thing was our garbage area was full and stinking other than that it was awesome.

Enjoyed our stay, room was clean and staff friendly. Some of the amenities were not available due to China flu. I cant really think of this as a resort without a good restaurant and bar service onsite.

Still seem to be getting on their feet with the corona epidemic. TVs didnt work when we got there. After they hooked up our TV sets the living room TV kept turning on and off on its own. Next we found our AC wasnt working. Had to move to a different unit. We had the same problem with the living room TV in that unit so they got us a new TV and that seemed to work. Light bulbs were missing in the track lighting and the smoke detector kept beeping because of a low battery. The maintenance team came pretty quickly for all issues but we still lost two days of our vacation with all the nonsense. We really like the resort. The staff is courteous and friendly and the location is great. Close to everything. Ive never seen so many pancake houses in one town! There is outlet shopping and many historical sites of course. Near by amusement parks and not long to the beach. Much wasnt open but we were on a relax vacation and with the situation we were prepared for places being closed. We still had many things to do and places to visit. We will be back again when things are open and we can be tourists. Hopefully we will have better luck with the resort and can give a better review.

We love the Colonies and stay every time we are in Williamsburg. The rooms are absolutely spacious so my family (me, spouse, 2 kids) can spread out and not just be sitting on 2 double beds in the room staring at each other. The full kitchen is perfect for us; we like to order from Guiseppes down the street and eat dinner in and we also like to have breakfast in the room every morning. The staff are friendly and when my daughter left her baby blanket, they shipped it right away the next day. I would absolutely recommend this place every time.

During COVID/Phase 3, they dont enter your rooms at all. You only share the door with 3 other suites and then a secondary door with 1 other suite. You have access to free laundry services in your hallway. You have a full kitchen, living room, each bedroom has their own bathroom. The TV quality is okay, but you shouldnt be staying inside while youre down here. Great proximity to the 3 historic cities, food, and shopping. Theres a security guard to feel safe. Very peaceful and a great hidden gem!

Apartment was great, very comfortable and included everything one can need to have a relax vacation. Loved the fireplace in the living room. The amenities excellent with a fantastic indoor pool, game room with DVD movies to borrow and well equipped gym. We would like to come back when its warmer to use the outdoor pool, jacuzzi and tennis, basketball courts. Staff very courteous and helpful.

Simply Beautiful, but be aware, they use high pressure to tru to get you to by their time share. If you are not in the market to buy, make sure they understand both letters on NO the N and the O.

While at the colonies, the staff were great. They always greeted us with smiles and were always helpful if we needed room amenities. The pool and hot tubs were a great way to have fun with the family, as well as the weight room had always been clean and well taken care of. The rooms themselves were spotless and cozy and fit our family of 7 easily.

Lovely units with all the amenities. Well appointed kitchens, bathrooms are great. Every unit is 2 bedrooms and a pull out couch. Perfect for a family of 4.The indoor pool is awesome and warm. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub too,.. Super large. Super close to outlets, colonial Williamsburg and Pierces BBQ! 20 minutes to Yorktown too!

Great place! Staff was helpful and friendly. We needed two rooms last minute after an awful checkin and immediate checkout at a nearby property, the staff was able to meet our needs by placing us in side by side units. It was like having the entire 2nd floor to ourselves, which was perfect because my husband and I were traveling with our 6 adult children. The units were plenty big enough with 2 spacious bedrooms and baths. The units were clean and stocked with everything we could have needed. I requested a late check out and was accomodated with no hassle at all. Would definitely go back.

Loved our stay during the winter. Kids loved the pool. Our almost 3 year old loved the joining apartments, ran from side to side the whole time. Will definitely be back but hopefully it will be summer time when we do.

I visited here in summer of 2014.This hotel was very convenient for our stay in Virginia, had great service, and has a great pool! Also has an arcade, which was very fun. I recommend staying here if needing a place to stay between Washington DC, and southern Virginia locations such as Virginia Beach. One of the most memorable hotels ive gone to.

The bad: Very slow check-in, featuring only 1 person checking in, while two people stood at the ready by the time share sales desk (where you go to get your parking pass). Queen mattress in our unit needed to be replaced, as wasnt comfortable for sleep.The good:Super nice property, tons of amenities for families; clean. Great pool area indoors and out. Very convenient to Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, outlet shopping. Great place for a family weekend.

Not a bad place to stay, but I will not come back here. The indoor pool cannot be used during rain storms if there is lightning because its connected with 18ft metal pipes to the outdoor pool as we were told by the pool attendant. Whats the point of an indoor pool then if you cant use it when it bad weather outside? Also, the people here have bad attitudes towards guests and guise it with these are the rules sir. Also, they dont have additional parking if you are two families in one unit, they only give one parking pass per unit and make one is overflow parking that is not convenient to units in the back. And the final issue that is annoying, there are not ceilling fans in the bedrooms and its 90 outside. AC is in the rooms but it doesnt circulate in the room very well. Overall I am not impressed by this resort it was one annoyance after the next.

The condo was really spacious and modern. Full kitchen. It was located close enough to local attractions. The pool was nice and the kids enjoyed it. Two complaints are there is only one parking place for each condo. It just makes it annoying cause other people will park in your spot and then you need to park in overflow lot that isnt even paved. The second thing is we paid to have the condo cleaned and all they did was change sheets and towels.

My family and I have been visiting time shares all over the country for over 30 years, and this is one of the nicest weve stayed at. The unit was large, clean, and well-appointed. It was too chilly for the pool, but the outdoor hot tub was a relaxing retreat one evening after touring Williamsburg. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Theres a lot to do in the area, and wed definitely stay here again!

They closed the parks during the virus which I think is a place that are kids can run around and get fresh air without catching the virus.

It was really fun, I liked the food they had, and the pools were fun to relax in, mainly in the mini lazy river. the room I stayed in was comfortable and cozy and I could just watch something on one of the TVs, but there werent too many channels, but a lot of ones I like including news.

Resort was nice but we are VIP members and was told we could check out late but then was forced to check out on time to accommodate another VIP member for early check in last minute. Poor customer service. You saying one is better than another. The manager then denied it was said to begin with. For what we pay, this was totally unacceptable. Not to mention we had a 4day old baby there and there was a time restrictions to check in to our next destination. None of that was considered.

My name is Mitchell Higgins We were at this resort last week with my family and my daughter did not remember to take her shoes. There were 5 pairs of shoes and they only delivered 4 pairs they stole a pair of shoes.

Great place to visit and walk

The front desk manager Joycelyn was a tremendous help during this covid19 global pandemic. She and her staff accommodated me with all of my request regarding a dinner for my sister whom is a health care worker and my wife who is an officer. Because of ms Joycelyn I was able to book a unit and believe me I had several questions and concerns but she was so patient and kind and her customer service was excellent. I want to thank her and her team and from my manager expertise I can tell that Joycelyn is someone to keep around at the property longevity!

The only complaint was with the check in staff and manager. They need to go to a customer service refresher course. The unit we stayed in was very clean, updated and comfortable for our family. Master bedroom shower was pretty impressive. The unit its self I would give 5 stars. Front check in desk I give a 1. Dont fall for the parking pass timeshare pitch. Just tell them you went the parking pass when you check in. The pool staff may need to know the procedures of when someone gets sick in the pool. The two young gentlemen gave myself and my wife a good laugh watching them.

Loved the pool and the water slide outside. My 4 year old niece had an amazing time too! We were able to do one of the activities that the place offered and it was painting the piggy bank. The staff there was amazing and helpful! We cant wait to come back!

DISAPPOINTED about not being Able to enjoy half the fun due to covid

We had a clean, quiet 2 bedroom unit close to activity center and pool. Kitchen was well equipped and all appliance were working well. We had a few ants in the bathroom; staff responded within minutes to address the situation.Location was ideal to visit attractions in the area; also close to shopping and restaurants.There are numerous activities and tours offered on site.

All of us as a Christian Gathering & Fellowship Group enjoyed & reveled in all the offerings of The Colonies that it blew our minds once again (our Group came back again this yr.!). Each couple(s), etc. could do their own thing & go & tour wherever they wanted. Thank u 4 making our stay so FANTASTIC!

Rooms are nice, kind of like a gated community almost.Issue was the fact that it cost 220 a night and they could only check us in after 4pm and checkout was at 10am, which is completely absurd, considering the fact that half that time is used sleeping.Also outlets didn’t work, and cleaning job was poor as i found wrappers from the previous guests.Personally i would look for somewhere closer to Williamsburg too as this is out the way a bit. I will not stay here again, i don’t need to be rushed to checkout.

Staff is wonderful, had a terrific stay felt comfortable in the well stocked home away from home. Participated in a number of planned activities, that were well planned and fun for all ages.Rooms were well supplied and I could have packed much lighter now knowing the laundry services were close at hand.Would deffinatly plan my stay there next time in VA
