The area is very big. Some shady characters outside the nature trail gave me a very bad first impression. I dont recommend this place for just a mom and kids trip. The trails looked isolated ( purpose of going hiking, I know) and there are signs of littering around the main trail. The large trail is about five miles and not many people use it. I dont recommend it. The vegetation is being restored and a crew of workers was working on the trail. A strong smell of smoke was present due to the burning. We didnt see lost of animals. No bathrooms, or drinking water (in the area near the playground, I noticed both).
Great place to paddle if the water level is up. Its been raining consistently for the last month so the water was at the perfect level and very clear. Try and paddle early in the morning (sunrise) or late in the evening to avoid the south Florida heat. Bring binoculars or a long lens camera because there is a good amount of birds.
Amazing nature preserve! I went twice and walked all of the trails. I was able to see tons of wildlife including a young alligator, a gold eagle, rosette spoonbill, armadillo, tortoise, tons of fish, and beautiful sunsets over marshlands! I would really love to go back and do it all again at some point. I highly recommend, just be sure to stay safe and on the lookout for gators!
Great spot to experience some native South Florida ecosystems. An alternative to the shopping centers and housing complexes. There is an informative guide publication that you can pick up at the information stand on the way in. In only an hour we saw snakes, birds, ducks, hawks, lizards, butterflies, dragonflies, fish, and lots of plants and berries. A great day out in nature!
Wow!! .5 mile paved walk to beautiful bridge that goes over spanning water/Marsh area. Bridge has pavilion covered small lookout area with 2 little benches. Canoe launch, 3.3 mile path. Hiking area goes around lake/Marsh, 5 miles. Hiking path is white sand. Fishing allowed, catch-and-release only. No bathrooms. Saw many birds up close, 2 alligators. Great peaceful walk.
Very pretty and relaxing. The paved path goes on for approximately one mile until you reach a middle point where the different wetland trails connect. No bikes are allowed per postings. Benches are located throughout the park. We did see one gator in the water and well off any paths. There are plenty of biking trails immediately next door at Dyer park. Very nice area.
Love it! Must go for fishing. Highly recommended
Beautiful water expanse on the edge of Palm Beach - best to go at the beginning or end of the day to see the most wildlife. Birds and alligators and snakes all over.
We walk daily, five to seven miles. Winding Waters offered an awesome alternative to just street walking.
Awesome little spot. Bird paradise! Beautiful vegetation. The kayak launch isnt the closest but it wouldnt deter me from going there again. :)
Serene and well maintained. Very pretty area
For those who may try to take your dog, be aware that there are no pets allowed. Im writing this here so that you may avoid an unnecessary trip out here.
If your looking for a place to kayak, fish or both look no further.Couple quick things.1) theres only one entrance into the preserve. That is a narrow sidewalk with a cement pole in the middle of it. That means for people like me with 36 wide kayaks it barely fits thru dragging it on a cart. The ramp is about 40 feet away from the initial parking loading/ unloading zone. The rest is simply amazing. Great bird watching, excellent fishing and beautiful scenery.A group of us went out for 6 hours and caught allot of fish.Blue Gil, Mayan cichlids, small mouth, large mouth and tilapia.Someone also said theres Oscar in there but we didnt catch any.In conclusion this park is a must. Walk the trails, enjoy the observation area over the water, or drop your kayak/ canoe in and enjoy the water. You wont regret it.
Canoe, kayak or walk, its an adventure! A birders paradise, wood storks, bald eagles, roseate spoonbills are just a few highlights. Theres gators as well. There is a well marked hiking trail as well as a kayak trail. Its a special reclaimed world. Enjoy!
Good 4 miles around the water. Lots of fresh air, birds, gopher turtles. I like seeing the sky almost 360 with no buildings!
Loved the hiking trail. We discovered this on Saturday and hiked it on Sunday. It’s just north of us 4.1 miles.
Quiet hike in the middle of a bustling area. Didnt see anyone once we went on the unpaved trails. People hanging out in their cars along the south Dyer park entrance is a bit odd though.
Beautiful place to connect with nature. Free from tech .
Fund peace someplace
Quiet little place.
A very nice place to come to be one with your thoughts Tranquility peace of mind the therapy of nature.
Not very much to see and very overgrown grass. Nice walking place.
Its very peaceful theres lots of places to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Youll see lots of snakes alligators Eagles owls. Great fishing spot as well.
Birds, a curious otter, a splashing alligator and the quiet place with nature. Great place to kayak.
It seemed a place worth while visiting although not to the standards of some other Palm Beach County parks such as Green Cay Wetlands. I went on a Saturday afternoon. I was hoping to do a long walk on the trail. However, not one other person was there, no other cars in the parking lot. Since I was by myself I was hesitant to walk too far in in the event of emergency or some other unforeseen problem.
Great park, the trails are well maintained. Great place to go kayaking.
I enjoyed hiking 4.6miles on the Wetland Trail and took photographs along the way. There are many things to see, birds, ducks, turtles, fish, butterfly, and variety of plants and flowers. If you like passive recreational activities, this is a good place to spend a few hours.
500 acres of nature in an urban setting. Purchased and restored by Palm Beach County, there is a kayak launch and a 1/2 mile ADA compatible nature trail. Another up to six miles of fairly sandy trail winds through the remainder of the natural area.A boardwalk makes for a great bird watching platform.Restrooms are provided in the adjacent Dyer Park.
Very serene
My wife, the kids and I always enjoy a nice walk around this place
Love this park
Limited parking means your unlikely to bump into many fellow outdoor enthusiasts.Trails flood easily.
Its not a bad place to kayka. It would be nice to have a fresh water rinsing station because of the landfill runoff!
You park at the trail head and it is a loop trail. It was about a four mile walk. 80% of the trail is not shaded. About 10% of the trail is a sidewalk. We saw a gator in the water. There are NO restrooms (reason for a star deduction). There are a few pavilions to take shelter if it rains. It was a quiet trail. We saw snail shells.
Excellent place for a piece full, relaxing nature walk & excellent views of nature preserves and a large variety of native wildlife. Great experience for the whole family. Recommend to all nature lovers.
Longer trails, plenty of walking. Most of trail is along waterside. Mostly in exposed sun so prepare accordingly. Variety of birds present. Must pack out trash, as no trash cans on site.
Very nice, but a car bound person could use a sign are so explaining what is about these steep little ridges? It looks like there could be a very well covered landfill. There are no birds.
Good walking trails and observation deck that leads to beach. Shuttles take you back and forth if needed. Wonderful nature center with hourly tours and wildlife exhibits. You could spend hours here and still not take it all in. Great place to spend a day with the family. Ample picnic pavilions and tables to eat lunch. Gift shop too.
Friendly staff cool park hidden away
Had a great day kayaking! Saw 3 alligators, all kids of birds, and many turtles. Great place for a walk too.
My husband and I took a short walk here on a week day and were surprised to almost have it to ourselves. We had a lovely stroll and especially liked seeing and hearing all the birds and ducks on the water and in the air. As is the case with so many of the natural area parks here, it was astonishing to feel like youre in the middle of nowhere, when you suddenly see the VA hospital nearby or hear traffic in the distance. We will definitely return to see more of this lovely place.
Mannnnnnnnn I cant wait to return to this place. ......
Nice natural area
Nice place for a walk on a Saturday morning.
Awesome park to go through. Wetlands bordering forest. Lots of birds to see. Snail kites present in the park.
Paved walkway for accessibility through the first section of the forested area. Unpaved trail around the wetlands section beyond the bridge. Open and windy for good hiking with a few small covered benches. Parking lot is small, for 10 vehicles. Very well maintained.
Its a beautiful walk around the wetlands, lots of water fowl, great Blue heron, giant snowy egret ect. Sorry, no biking here.
Nothing particularly interesting. I find more wildlife in my back yard.
One of the best natural habitats in West Palm Beach located right in the middle of the city. Perfect location to collect your thoughts get a good workout in meditate on your goals and any other aspects of life would truly recommend it to any man woman or child 4 Scenic purposes
Beautiful
Watch out for alligators! Saw a 12 alligator there yesterday. Has a nice cement walking trail and saw some neat plants and birds. There are some good sized fish there if you want to bring a pole (and a fishing license).
There are a few miles of trails around a small island. Lots of pine, cypress, and cabbage palm trees. The park attracts various types of migratory birds. Great place to watch the sunrise or sunset.
Love this place. It is such a beautiful trail (that is made of cement) that leads to a tranquil lake with a gazebo to sit in and watch the birds. You can keep going on the trail, but it turns to dirt. A lot of bike trails and running trails. Must see park
Nothing like it. I love it and miss it so much. Just moved to Coconut Creek and cannot find anything close to it. Beautiful sunsets, lots of wildlife, paved and sand trails with sufficient trails to not get bored.
Amazing place to visit. Very interesting & beautiful! Easy to get to.
Beautiful walking trails, bird watching, and some fishing. Restrooms within walking distance.
What a beautiful place. A nice natural area.
Great walk, good for kids.
Abundance of wildlife but tons of litter and trash from human impact.
Im not a big croc fan tho
Great place for the kids to enjoy their fun time. And sportif also.
Nice paved walkway if you have a stroller or wheel chair. And there is a long off roading trail that is by the water, but be careful of snakes.
I love it! I love how theres a nature side and an actual play ground park for the kids. It has everything you could want from beautiful scenic views and trails to golf courses! My boyfriend and I love coming here
Fun place to visit, beautiful preserve
Amazing beauty. Tranquil spaceGreat walk ways and flora and fauna
Another Beautiful natural area to get a glimpse of what Florida use to look like.
Very beautiful, lots of birds, great trails and all for free!
Amz8ng hiking. Loved the long trails. If you take the water river trail all way it will loop back around. Recommend
Nice walk in the somewhat dried up swamp . Or at least where I walked
Been going here for runs or walks for the last 3 years really a great place just to get away even though youre right the middle of everything
Great fishing and walking around with family
Nice view of the great Floridian swamp! Nice hiking trail. Peaceful.
Peacefull
Recently we move to West Palm Beach and we enjoy to know new places in our neighbor, for that reason we visited winding waters trails, where they have good views, good pathway and quality, the staff is very nice and helpfully, the place is clean and organized, and you can view everything by the website. If I help you please push .
Great trails for florida runners that want something a little tougher
Nice place to kayak and fish when the water is not too low. Kayak access is a little tough to get to.
Food was great and the cust service was on point
Hiked around the lake. But I was worried about my bike. Wish the trail waa bike friendly!
Had a great time biking around with my brother. 4+ hours, almost finished the whole park
Absolutely gorgeous! Birds I saw today: anhinga, little blue heron, tri-colored heron, great egret, cattle egret, double-crested cormorant, and American coot. Definitely worth the visit!
Great area for a hike
Always beautiful.
Beautiful relaxing place
That place is awesome!! Hope to visit again
Needs to be more shade and more trees. Not long enough as well.
Very quite and a little bit scary for people who dont know alligators
Had an awesome time, besides the horse Flys attacking you lol
As nature should be celestial
