This place was amazing. The animals are all extremely well taken care of. Our tour guide, Ashley, was phenomenal! Will definitely return in the future.
Sanctuary is clean and spacious. Animals are well taken care of and are happy and excited when the care-takers come by. Sanctuary provided a personal experience with many animals. Guides were knowledgeable and very nice. I want to go back! Such a lovely experience. Out of all the sanctuaries Ive been to, this is definitely one of my favorites!!
Had an excellent time at McCarthy Sanctuary. Definitely worth the visit.our tour guide Ashley was so fun and gave us lots of information and time. The animals are so beautiful. This was such an amazing day I will definitely go again when Im in Florida.
I love the work that McCarthys does for wildlife in need. Wonderful staff! There is a way to donate to them online for all the work they do. Go to their website and hit Donate. They helped me rescue baby squirrels️ Love this place!!
Highly recommend this place. We have gone there twice and had a great experience each time. The staff is very knowledgeable and very close to the animals, they know their story and you can tell that all animals know the people who work there too. You get very close to the animals, and you are able to hold many animals.
Best experience ever! It’s beautiful - well maintained - the animals are so cute/playful and some lazy/sleepy. Our tour guide Ashley was amazing, thank you so much. I will be going again for sure!!
We went here as a spur of the moment idea without realizing you needed a reservation, they did their beat and fit us in the same day, beautiful sanctuary, a lot of animals and our guide Jess did her best to go to the animals when they were awake! Mostly big cat which is what we wanted! Absolutely amazing time!
The tour is very interactive. I had a blast. Good for adults and children of all ages
This was fun and educational. The tour guides really know the information and the animals are amazing. They do great rescue work and save animals that would have nowhere else to go. I highly recommend it!
This is such a nice place to be, I am so glad that this place exist and help animals, it was a wonderful experience & our tour guy was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I totally recommend this place to anyone who loves animals. The animals are in very good living condition and well treated! And clean!
It was beautiful Mr McCarthy amd staff take very good care of the animals so good to see how healthy they are I would recommend a visit its worth it guides very friendly work on tips please help them thank you
Never got so close to such huge Lions, Tigers. Nice tour!
I was looking to take my daughter to a local zoo but they were closed, which led me to stumble across this place, which to me was so much better than a zoo. Their animals are much closer up than many of the zoos.. they literally feel like they are right there next to you, which made for a unique experience. It was very shaded, unlike a lot of the zoos that have direct sunlight directed right at you. It also was more personalized being that there are not many people there at a time. We went yesterday morning, and spent our time with our amazing tour guide Alexia, who was very sweet with a great personality and was very knowledgable. She provided us with a lot of background and fun facts on the animals. My daughter even said when we left that if we went again she wanted her because she was nice, and it wouldnt be the same if we got someone else :). Thanks Alexia! I loved this place because for me my favorite part of the zoo is the big cats and at most zoos they have limited amounts of big cats and they can be at quite a distance away. They literally had 1 if not 2 of every kind of breed of big cat! Tigers, both orange and white, lions, ligers, jaguars, a snow leopard, a bobcat, a panther, and another one I dont remember the name. I was impressed. They also had a good selection of snakes, including some pretty cool colored ones and large ones. Some very cute and funny monkeys there too! Im looking forward to my next trip here, and will be telling my friends and family about this gem. Well worth the money for a memorable experience.
Very awesome place to visit very knowledgeable the staff helps explains about the animals that they have there better than the zoo
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!! It was great to be so close to so many amazing animals while being educated on them and how they arrived at the sanctuary. It was also fantastic to have an education on animals in captivity and why they cant survive in the wild. This isan amazing place for education and you can see the love that the McCarthys and their employees have for their family. Had such an amazing time and recommend that everyone make an appointment for this incredible experience!!!!!! I have already told my friends and family will continue to recommend others!!!! A huge thank you to the the McCarthy family and friends for all that youve done and do!!!!
Very informative and lengthy tour, totally worth it! Interesting rescue animals and I learned so much! What a great idea.
Great opportunities to get up close with rare animals. They had one of the best Venomous snake collections I have ever seen. Animals look very healthy and well fed. Definitely recommend coming here!
Great place to tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and so many animals to see
Beautiful sanctuary with wonderful employees. Definitely taking my boyfriend & mother. Such unbelievable work they do there with the animals.
This place is amazing! The tours are smallgroups which allow you to get very close to the animal enclosures. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable about the animals in general and share the backstory of the big cats. So much better than a zoo or safari and what a wonderful cause to support.
The tour was so much fun! Huge variety of animals, from various big cats to Gila Monsters, monkeys, and birds. The staff was well informed and able to answer almost every question my tour group could think of.
This place is amazing. They have a wonderful staff that really care about the animals. Wish there were more places like this. The tour was very informative. Small groups on the tour made it very personable. There is a room with snakes but totally optional. There are lots of big cats that you would not be able to see at other places. We really appreciated the level of a respect shown toward the animals.
Third year in a row going to this sanctuary. The enclosures are clean and the animals are well taken care of. Until people stop keeping exotics as pets, aces like this will be necessary. Fortunately, McCarthys is a really nice one. Kids love it because of interaction with the animals.
Had a lot of fun at this place! Its clean, the animals were happy, healthy and loved, and the staff was knowledgeable and fun! You need a reservation for a tour because they dont really aim to make money. Its a non-profit organization which focuses on the well-being of the animals (rehabilitation, research). This is a great place to learn about animals and their mission reflects kindness and respect towards animals. Thank you, guys! Special mention to Jessica, our tour guide. She was just wonderful! Keep doing what you do. You all contribute in making the world a better place. We will be back! Cheers all the way from Montreal, Canada! :)
My kids and I loved it, and it’s very educational.
Very interesting and informative tour by a very experienced and well-informed guide. She explained all about the wildlife sanctuary and the animals so that everyone in our small group was able to enjoy the day. It was great to see the animals and even be able to touch a few. The place is clean and welcoming. We all enjoyed our outing!
We visited this sanctuary while in Florida from Ontario, Canada and can definitely say we’ll be coming back every year. Our tour guide Ashley was absolutely incredible. She was informative, had a good personality and it was clear to see how much she loved and cared for every animal she showed us. She gave us the back story of all the animals, and made sure all of our questions were answered. She took her time with each enclosure. The animal enclosures are incredibly clean & well made. The love for these animals is easy to see. I highly recommend visiting here. The tips are shared between the animals care and the tour guides, and admission fee goes towards the animals as well. 10/10 will come back. Thank you so much Ashley for the tour & Mark for making this possible!
Hidden gem! Small groups for a 2 hour tour, lots of opportunities to be closer to many of these animals than youd ever have a chance to otherwise! Guides are knowledgeable and very pleasant, and the cost of admission goes to maintain the park! Love this place!
Amazing! We loved our time at McCarthys. They staff is incredibly knowledgeable and they clearly love for the animals in their care. SO much better than a zoo!
Excellent experience they are so great with the animals. The animals are beautiful
We booked this largely based on other reviews we saw and were not disappointed! This was a two hour tour and our guide was WONDERFUL! It is hard to keep people engaged for two hours but she really did a great job explaining how these animals came to the sanctuary (which was some really interesting stories BTW)As a note I do work in animal rescue myself (although not with these types of big cat / venomous snakes animals!) and I thought all their enclosures appeared to be clean and the animals appeared to be in good care. It was nice to see these animals have a forever home and have the educational component as well.I would highly recommend a visit here!
This place is great, our guide Ashley was very knowledgable. You get to touch and hold some animals but otherwise you are very close to the others.
We found two baby bunnies and took them hear they were welcomed with open arms...
Absolutely amazing animals, staff and facility! Alexis was great and the owner, Mark was on site and also very friendly and personable. Definitely recommended!
Off the beaten path but worth the trip. Great for kids. Clean and the guide was great. Most of the animals are rescued. Why would anyone want to own a lion or tiger? This place takes the animals from people who dont realize how big they get
What a wonderful place. I am an animal lover, and this is the only place I have been where you can see tigers and Lions so close. Such a great experience. Liza gave such a great tour, she knew all history of each animal. Amazing place, with great vibes. Highly recommended!
It was awesome to be able to get up and close to these animals. Our guide was so knowledgeable and was full of information. I recommend if youre in the West Palm Beach area to take this tour. It last about 2 hours.
Such a cool experience for all ages! Got to pet a couple of smaller creatures. Highly recommend! Manny was a great guide.
Love the place and all the wild animals, most of them has been kept as pets by private people, untill they discovered they grow too big! An excellent guide took us around and told us the stories of each animal! Pricing $$
Im so thankful there are organizations out there like this still open like this during this difficult financial time to take upon the financial responsibility and care for our animal kingdom. After finding thisgopher tortoise hit and injured on Okeechobee boulevard they were more than willing to accept him with open arms.
Amazing, great tour of the sanctuary, gained alot of knowledge, so much fun getting to know these beautiful animals.
Beautifully maintained facility, well worth the experience! The animals here are given a wonderful new lease on life. The tour guides provide an excellent education and highlight the often sad or horrific stories on how they came to the sanctuary
It was a wonderful experience!! I loved it ️️
A MUST SEE. At first I thought the animals should of had bigger areas BUT these animals were keep as pets-some in cages so small they could hardly move. They were Not use to the wild -so that being said, they are in a good place w/all their needs cared for by loving people &workers.Go visit. If U cant toletate the hot weather- try visiting in the winter months.
It’s amazing to see the giant cats up close at McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary. We took an afternoon tour and the animals were all very active and engaging with their keepers. Way cooler experience than any zoo I’ve ever visited! The facility is well managed, the animals unique, and the time you’ll spend there will be unforgettable. The tickets are a little pricey, but worth every dime. Don’t miss it!
Highly recommend this wildlife refuge. Our guide Lisa was knowledgeable and cared very much about the animals she was telling us about. The place was so well kept and the animals were in fantastic shape.
Informative ... Dont think you could closer to big cats than here. Small tour groups are great. Great activity for kids tired on the beach
Loved it. Really enjoyed the animals. They have saved so many animals. I think more people should come out and support this cause.
A great day out. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful experience! The animals are well taken care of and Lisa was a great tour guide
Great place - really enjoyed the tour. The guide was informative and the animals look content and well cared for. We went in mid August so super hot. There are shaded areas throughout and also some benches here and there along the tour but most important bring water or bring a few dollar Bills because they sell water along the tour for 1.00 and youre going to need it.
Great tour and clean facility. The animals are very well taken care of and are very active. Our tour guide, Alexis, did an awesome job with the tour and allowed us to touch and hold a few creatures.
What an amazing experience. Animals are so content you are ALMOST fooled into thinking you can get in and play with them. Wouldnt recommend that but I would recommend this sanctuary. Thank you Dalton for referring us here and thank you LV for taking us along with you on your experience during private tour.
Excellent...make time to book an appointment.
Like no other place I’ve been. My husband and I had a great experience. McCarthys is clean and the animals are well cared for. Lisa, our tour guide was informative and friendly. She gave us lots of info and played with the cats so we could see them do more than just relax lol. I highly recommend going and enjoying.
This is an awesome, beautiful sanctuary tucked in natural surroundings. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind and patient with the group I was with. The species were fantastic to see and learn about. They are very well-cared for and content. Great place to visit!
Extremely satisfying and informative. I initially went for the herp room and a chance to view McCarthys venomous snake collection, and while that was very cool and met my expectations, the big cats are what left me in awe. The facility is in excellent condition and you can immediately tell that the animals are very loved and especially well taken care of. Alexis was our small groups guide and the bond that the animals have with her can only be summarized with the word LOVE. While the birds, primates and big cats are all wild animals, you can tell that this place harbors that magical something that bonds humans and animals together. Knowing that your entrance fee goes towards the sanctuarys feed bill is reason enough for anyone to go. With the reality of climate change very much on the horizon, I can only hope that more places like this will exist in the future, not necessarily for our amusement or entertainment, but for the animals sake and right to life. Kudos to McCarthys.
Awesome place to see animals up close and to hear about their mission. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Check out their Facebook page!
Alexis was great and very knowledgeable. Tour is walking and staying for about 2 hours. Many places to sit during most talks. Able to hold 2ft small gator a snake and a tarantula and pet a fox. Pretty much shaded and cooler than surrounding areas. Also met Mike the owner, very passionate about what he does and friendly.
This was our third visit to McCarthys and was as fabulous as the first. The guides are engaging, and the animals are in the best of health and condition. This is the most up close and personal big cat experience that I know without needing your running shoes. Excellent.
Animals loved and it is obvious. Rescues that will be released if possible. Tour guide, Alexis amazing. So happy we experienced this too notch place!
Wonderful experience! Dont miss it.
Great place for people of all ages to visit and learn about wildlife.
Love this place!! I have been there several times will go many more!!!! This is now a “must do” for anyone visiting us from out of town. A friend of ours in a wheelchair got around wonderfully and everyone was so accommodating!
An educational and incredible way to get up close and personal with animals youd never expect to see up close. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive to your group as you see lions, tigers, various birds and other animals up close and in some cases in your hands.Their mission is very admirable and you will not be disappointed by the trip into the Acreage to see the sanctuary. Theres a reason theyre one of the number one things to do in the Palm Beaches.
This is a must see. cant even begin to describe all of the big cat adventure, not to mention all the other critters and all of the great info about them from the story tellers
Wonderful assortment of animals Birds snakes and insects. Very clean and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very good answering questions.
Amazing place, we come whenever in the area. You can tell they care about the animals and are doing a public service by taking them from irresponsible illegal owners. One of the better attractions Ive seen, plus non profit.
Awesome experience. Our tour guide was Manny. He was excellent. You can really tell he loves his job and is very knowledgeable of all the animals they have. Definitely a must do.
This was our second visit to McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary and they dont disappoint. Our guide, Alexis, was amazing in the information she shared about each animal and her attitude towards each animal. You could tell she really loves the animals and what she does. You rarely find a place thats not a zoo where you can see exotic animals up closed. We have recommended McCarthys to many friends and they all come back having had a memorable time!! Reservations are a must so make them in advance.
I love what they do here. Everyone is passionate about the animals and take good care of them. The only thing I felt was lacking was more time to actually see the animals. We moved so quickly passed each animal, that it was hard to truly appreciate them.
Great experience, they truly enjoy what they do. The animal cages where a pretty decent size for each animal. Dont let the haters dissuade you from coming.
Love the staff there, they do a awesome job teaching you about their animals and how the animals got there in the first place.Very energetic an happy ! When visiting, do pick a earlier time then the 1:00pm this was my 2nd time there and the latest time Ive went. (1pm ) the animals are least active at that time.
It was amazing!!!! Great way to spend an afternoon... The guides are soo nice and they did a great job with the tour. 100% worth every penny and their cause is incredible!!!! Loved it!!!!
Great place where they take care of animals. The animals look to be very well treated. The staff are super friendly, very informative and are open to answering questions.Though I am not sure why they let people hold a baby alligator with its mouth taped closed. That was the only part that was questionable to me.
Better than any zoo or sanctuary Ive seen. Cant say enough positive things about this place! Stop reading the reviews, just call them and buy your tickets- you wont regret it!!
Great tour! I had so much fun here. The staff was very polite and were very intelligent about the animals. I would very much recommend this great little spot! This is not a petting zoo for those who may have found it like so, they have a few reptiles and bird that you can hold/pet, however the is it.
If you don’t think this is a 5 star experience, then you are bound to be disappointed in life. Where else can you stand inches away from a full grown tiger in complete safety? The staff is great too - clearly they have passion for what they do and for these animals. McCarthy’s took animals in a bad situation and gave them a second chance. Great place.
Up close and personal with animals, super fun and educational. An outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. Highly recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about McCarthy’s! This is literally my all-time favorite place. If you are an animal person, you HAVE to go.All of the tour guides are incredible. You can see that they really love and care about these animals by the way the animals respond to them. The enclosures are always clean and well-kept and all of the animals look healthy and happy. You’ll have the opportunity to be up close with many animals and have hands on encounters with many others. For the price, you cannot beat it!!!On top of their awesome tours, I also called when I found a parakeet that could not fly wandering around an elementary school campus. No questions asked, they agreed to take the bird and stayed a few minutes late to ensure that I could drop the parakeet off to them.I have been to McCarthy’s a couple of times and love it so much that I actually celebrated my 24th and 25th birthday here and am planning to celebrate my 26th birthday here as well.
Best place to take kids in palm beach county. I’ve been to them all with my 4 year old. Informative, interactive, and awe inspiring. They have so many big cats. Really breathtaking. And manny who gave the tour was awesome.
It was cool being this close to the lions and tigers. The enclosures are on the smaller side, but space is a premium for more animals. Would definitely come back.
LOVED this experience. Our guide was Kara and she was fantastic! She had such a a great relationship with all of the animals, which was very clear in their interactions. She was able to get them to come closer to our group and sometimes play along. We had a great time learning about the animals and how the sanctuary cares for them. The close encounters were also a ton of fun and made for some great photo opportunities.Awesome for kids and adults.
Very nice personal tour in a small group
Took a tour last month (Feb. 2019) and was amazing and informative. Youll never really get to be as close except on a wildly expensive cross-continent safari. Jessica, our tour guide, was fun, friendly, knowledgeable and the love and care she showed her animals was more than her job. She answered ALL our questions and wasnt rushed. This place is a gem.
Amazing time with family
Had the most pleasant experience, the Sanctuary was very well maintained and all the staff were courteous and Friendly. I would especially like like to say A job well done to our guide Libby she was very well educated on all the animals as well as fun and friendly but always very professional. I was amazed it was only her third tour ever. Keep up the great work. I’d also like to thank Jessica for making our experience extra special. Will definitely recommend this sanctuary to all our animal lovers. I’d also like to Thank Marc for the love and care he has for all his animals.
I loved this place! Definitely check it out, animal keepers are awesome, super nice, they bond beautifully with the animals. You can interact with them so much better than in your regular zoo, and they look healthy and happy. I absolutely recommend this!
Tour was amazing get close up with the animals and very informative
We took our family to McCarthys Wildlife Sanctuary this past weekend. Everyone who went loved it! Alexis was our tour guide and she was very informative about each animal and why it was in the sanctuary. It was very obvious that she loves her job and the animals in the sanctuary. Its not a huge facility, but its very clean and you get up close and personal with the animals. Its like a behind the scenes tour of the zoo. We loved it and will definitely go back again!
This place is awesome! My kids liked it even better than the zoo.
