Visiting from California, this preserve was an awesome deviation from a business trip. About 20 minutes North of West Palm Beach area, free access and plenty of wildlife to observe. Would highly recommend. Parking is minimal, but can be accomplished. Nice elevated walking platform above the everglades.

Well maintained, good information about the habitat, and every time weve visited we have seen a gator. This time we saw two large adults and one juvenile I really want to take one of the rental canoes out sometime. This place is very large! Clean restrooms, too.

So glad we took time to check out this preserve. It’s a treasure in the middle of town. Very well maintained. Depending on the time of day there’s is various wildlife to be seen or heard. Definitely bring a hat and sunscreen. Paths are well marked and again it’s well maintained. It’s definitely west of just about everything but Google gets you there.

An AMAZING place!! A piece of the Everglades in West Palm Beach. We signed up for a two hour kayak tour and it couldnt have been better. The tour was delayed due to an alligator that wouldnt leave the deck but we eventually got onto the water. The tour guide was awesome, friendly and informative. The two volunteers were friendly and helpful too. The tour was only $10 which includes the kayak rental; a total steal! We wouldve paid $50 for the event. There are trails you can walk too and plenty of wildlife to explore. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic wild reserve. Alligators galore, wild bird species, deer, exotic plants n trees, n sometimes the smell of garbage on entering the reserve on 45th street entrance- the only drawback. Totally wild. Be careful folks.

Calm and tranquil park that is wheelchair accessible and has a small historical museum on the water. Private kayaks and boats are not permitted, but you can book a guided canoe trip, or a dip-net trip for the kids. It is advisable to book at least a month in advance. Entrance is free to this Wildlife Management Area (WMA)The winding boardwalks are about a mile in total, and there are rocking chairs in selected shady spots along the way. It is a good little place for nature photography, and just to escape for a while.

Grassy Waters Preserve is one of the hidden gems of Palm Beach County. Though close to metropolitan West Palm Beach, it feels like youve travel a great distance away almost as soon as you leave the parking lot. Grassy Waters Preserver offers some splendid views from their free to use and well-positioned rocking chairs. If only they didnt close so early, at 4:30 pm. The views from the boardwalk at sundown would be divine.

Grassy Waters Preserve in West Palm Beach is more than hiking and biking trails in paved-over South Florida; it is a close encounter with the natural beauty of Florida, a beautiful and healthy ecosystem of pristine and wild 23.5 square miles. When people think of West Palm Beach, they always allude to the gorgeous Waterfront, our modern CityPlace and the historically outgoing Downtown. But West Palm Beach natural parks are second to none in Florida and the city is putting a substantial effort to preserve our natural resources.

Ive walked here twice so far on the hog hammock trail, located on the north side of North Lake Blvd. The trail is 3.8 miles long and nicely shaded. Bring bug spray and keep your eyes open. I spotted a big rattle snake on the edge of the trail. He slithered away and I kept waking. Ive seen a lot of wildlife on this trail. Ive really enjoyed hiking on this trail but I assume in the summer time it would be too buggy.

I was curious to check this park out on Jan 2020. I assume its more pretty during the summer time when trees are green. This time of the year it looked a bit gray. Trees had no leaves and grass looked dead. I didnt have to pay for the entrance. The parking was a bit small but it had kayaks and air boat service. The wooden trail around the marsh was only 0.6 miles but it was somewhat pretty there. I believe there is a bike trail outside the park where you can hike too for a long distance but it looked like it goes along the highway which I wasnt happy about. In general, I wasnt very impressed by the park.

There are 2 sides to Grassy Waters. Hog Hammock (HH) trail is very nice. Large gravel parking area with an easy to read map at the HH trail head. Trail is a mix of natural limestone, crushed gravel and boardwalks. Mtb is allowed except on boardwalks. There is an extention dead end to HH which is the Promontory trail that adds a few miles. There are many shortcut trails throughout HH that lead back to the parking lot. Take bug spray with you and enjoy the wildlife. Saw raccoons, tortoise, and signs of wild hog. Currently the Apoxee Trail is closed for improvements.

My boyfriend and I loved it here! Definitely a hidden gem. We did the Hog Hammock trail, which was beautiful, and ended the trip on the Eagle trail. Both were beautiful and had some great sights to see.

If you love the beautiful natural flora and fauna of South Florida, this is the spot for you. It is a wide, easy boardwalk trail that allows you to see Florida’s beauty in safety and ease. I see families with strollers, don’t bring your pets, though. Definitely take a camera, there are wide expanses of The Everglades and Cypress trees that are very picturesque. I’ve also noticed that there are kayaks, so I’m sure there are rentals available as well. I just went there and fell in love with it. You can reach their offices and find out what sort of programs they have available. I see there are children’s programs there as well. They have quite a bit going on. I try to get there in the mornings and do a brisk walk, you can’t find a more beautiful spot. It’s a nice alternative to the beach in the cooler months. And if you simply want to do the walk, it is free.

There are three separate walking trails in the park; two near the main entrance at the listed address and another farther away. The wetland feeds the water system for Palm Beech. The best and most accessible is a boardwalk of about 0.65 miles into the wetlands. It has discussion boards and there is a small museum just off the boardwalk a bit from the parking area. The boardwalk allows you to see the wetlands but stay above the water and dry. There are also kayak tours with a park guide. This was really very informative and a good way to spend an hour seeing and understanding the importance of the wetlands to the Florida ecosystem and getting some exercise
