We enjoy visiting here (especially when its cold and there are many Manatees) we bring our out of town guests to see these gentle giants. There are public guided tours, check their website. There are lot of exhibits explaining about ehse creatures habitats, their food their predators etc. They also have a small gift shop The building is neat and clean with wheelchairs accessibility, clean restrooms.Overall great place to visit and learn about these beautiful creatures.
Visited in mid-February. I guess the water was warm elsewhere because there weren’t many manatees out at the lagoon - just one who floated in and fell asleep. People here seem dedicated. Nice that the power plant next door converted to natural gas and has no byproduct in the wastewater discharge which is the perfect temp. for a manatee habitat.
Manatee Lagoon is a gathering place for manatees in the area, especially during the winter months when they gather by the warm water that is released by the power station. The building on the site is a research center with descriptive displays about manatees and a uniquely manatee-themed gift shop.
Fun and educational place to take children. Seen manatees every time Ive gone there. If from out of state and you want to see manatees fairly close this is a great place to go.
I went several times this week until I finally saw some manatees. One tip is to watch the live video of the manatee Lagoon and then come see them when you have seen manatees on the live feed if possible. The view from the upper deck his much better for spotting them. Also look for other wildlife. The Barracuda are beautiful and I spotted a large turtle.
An amazing place to stop if you are traveling around southern Florida. Manatees are hard to see and only saw one but it was amazing. Inside there is a wonderful exhibit all about the manatees
Didnt see manatees this time, too much noisy water motorcycles in the lagoon but its really beautiful. Ill be back in a quieter time
1st if all its FREE!During cooler weather you can see dozens of manatees up close basking in the warm waters that FPL pours into the lagoon.During hotter weather you can see a variety of sea life like barracudas & lots of colorful tropical fish! The museum itself is a hands on which is great for the kids!I dont have to tell them dont touch, come back here, you know all those annoying parent rules you usually have to deal with.Great place. Highly recommended!!!
I came there in February when I came down to see my brother and sister-in-law and the manatees were amazing next time I come down again I must stop there and see them they are some beautiful animals thank you for doing such wonderful work and keeping His animal-safe.
Florida Power and Light has done a great job creating a viewing opportunity for all to see manatees that are typically elusive. They built an informative facility with multiple viewing areas to see the animals as well as the different species of fish and sharks that share the man made lagoon. Frequent updates tell you what species are there. Very kid friendly. Free admission is admirable for what is presented.
Beautiful place to visit! Loved it! Lower and upper deck to view Manatees and water views. Visitor center is great with cute gift shop. Keep in mind depending on time of the year, you may not always see them.
I’ve heard of this place for a while but surprisingly never gave it a chance until this past weekend. It’s such a wonderful and very well maintained attraction in West Palm Beach. There’s a gift shop, an area of learning sea life information, tables and benches for picnics and an upper deck to have a better view. We didn’t expect to see anything but from October through March I believe is the best time to see manatees here (I may be wrong in timing). You don’t have to pay at all either, but they might take donations! You also have an amazing view of the intracoastal!
Great experience and excellent teachers. My students loved it and we seen a manatee and its not even the time for them. How awesome is that.
We came from Hollywood Florida, an hour drive, worth the drive. Seen several manatee. The observatory and museum are very interesting and nice.
Manatees are my favorite animal in life so I am ALL OVER this place. This place seems to do a lot of events based on their Instagram. Plus while I was visiting, there were educational lectures mostly for kids. This is a great place for the whole family.I gave it a 4/5 because there were no manatees the day I went. I will have to visit again when it gets colder. Also, the pier was closed the day we went (whats up with that? we couldnt even get close to the water). In addition, the shrubbery in front of the manatee statue makes it super hard to take good pictures. That was just poorly designed smh. Otherwise the landscaping is clean, nice and modern.
Great place to visit. Take the kids or go with visiting family and friends. The Manatee are wonderful to watch. The inside has a lot of great information and some beautiful coral and fish.
It sucked, there were no manatees this afternoon! =D Seriously though, its a very cool place and I strongly suggest checking out this free attraction. Better chances of seeing manatees on the cooler days when they come back to the warmer water. Really enjoyed the informative panels inside.
My favorite place in palm beach county. I am obsessed with manatees. I watch from the Manatee Cam. They have a great viewing area. They have all sorts of activities every month for every age. Always clean. They updated so much and its such a calm and peaceful place to be.
Great place for adults, families, and kids. Interactive, entertaining, and educational. Its completely sponsored by FPL no entry fee, nor donations collected! Its a must see if in the area. Free parking, free visit.. thanks FPL
Neat little stop to explore with kiddos and learn about manatees. Unfortunately we didnt see any manatees as it has to be the right time year when the water is cold enough for them to seek out the warm water the plants next door produces. But we still enjoyed the small tanks & info about manatees they had inside. Good place for a quick visit, but not the kind of place youd spend a whole afternoon.
I have been to many manatee watch areas but often didn’t see any manatees or just their shadows cause the water was so brackish but this has been the best view of manatees yet! Very nice viewing area and they’re not just swimming by but really hanging out! it has been cold the last couple days (February) so it helps w the manatees swimming into the warm Lagoon and hanging out there to be seen and there were sooooo many!!!!! Mommy and babies! All so nicely visible and right under you in pretty clear water- very exciting! We had a friend from Seattle with us and she looooooved it ️ we all did. Must go visit!
Fun, free attraction for all ages. They have a manatee camera that is always live so you can know if they are there or not before setting off to see them. We saw probably 10 or so manatees and even a mama and baby! The gift shop was cute and had nice things and very nice employees. The bathrooms were clean and there is a baby changing station in the womens room. The second floor has a nice viewing deck. We spent about an hour there, but didnt read much of the signage and facts.
Awesome place for people of every age. It is a great place to visit year round to learn more about manatees or join one of their free tours or yoga classes. However to get to actually see manatees its best if you visit during the winter months. Chances of seeing them are higher then. During the winter months manatees migrate back down south to warmer waters and the outlet of the power plant is a welcoming area for manatees to hang out. Parking and admission are free. Staff is awesome and the visitor center has many programs for kids. Take a stroll along the waterfront. They also have free Wi-Fi. This place should be on your list while visiting the area and especially during the winter.
I got to see this place twice back in February I’m so sad it’s not open right now though I would love to volunteer/work here️
I’ve been to Manatee Lagoon twice for events on the second floor and both times were outstanding. The view is unbeatable from both the room and the veranda. The lower level is an educational display of manatees along with a great observation area. I didn’t go through the displays but I hear from other parents that’s it’s great for young kids. I saw manatees, sharks, and other fish both times.
It is a great morning activity for everyone. We saw many manatees this morning and enjoy the interpretation center. Many things to learn. Easy access and free parking for everyone. The aquarium inside the center is awesome !! Take the time to look and enjoy the details of the corals, Bernard l’hermite and the fishes.
Manatee lagoon is an awesome place for all the family, You will enjoy your visit no matter what. Its good if you are going with kids because they have some educational things inside the building. Its good if you like walking outside because it has a nice boardwalkAnd its perfect for you to relax and admire manatees
Cool place and full of information inside the building, 2nd floor is a great watch tower. Small gift shop and public restrooms. Outside area to watch fish, and manatees is very cool and nice clean place. On a sunny day the water is calm and clear and manatees can easily be seen.Parking is free, admission is free, great place to go and explore. Lovely manatees, worth the drive and learning experience.
Always a fun time visiting this center. We got here late Tuesday afternoon but didnt get a chance to see the manatees. It was a cold day here in Palm Beach but the charts said 1 was spotted in zone A near the warm water exhaust from FPL. We came back around 7am on a chilly (45°F) Wednesday morning but none were spotted when we got there. When we were about to leave half an hour later we noticed some bubbles just off the inlet and sure enough a mom and her baby were swimming in. They were soon followed by 8 other manatees. Was very exciting to see them enjoying the warm water at the center..even saw one rolling over whilst the fishes did a nice job of cleaning it.
Awesome place to see the MANATEE! We saw a couple of Mom/Calf combos together. They like the warm water from the power plant. If you have not seen a manatee, go here. They also have a great indoor area full of manatee information. They seem to have tours at 2:00 pm.
Didn’t see many manatees today, the last time i was here there was a load of them. check the live cam before you go. even if there aren’t manatees in the water the information center there is beautiful-clean, friendly staff & very informative!
Great place to visit. We werent able to see any manatees but there were a lot of fishes in the water and the information inside is great.
I actually went to Peanut Island. It was a lot of fun. You can rent snorkeling gear and boats as well. It was my 1st time there, so next time I will be better prepared. You can bbq, fish, swim, hike and camp. The view is absolutely breathtaking!
Easy free parking, nice museum and nice views of the water. Actually seeing live Manatees depends a lot on the weather. They enjoy the warm water exhaust when their own environment is cool, so cool weather previous to your visit and sunshine greatly increase your odds of a sighting. Our visit was on a cool, cloudy day after several 80+ degree days and we caught a distant glimpse of two Manatees, several stingrays and many other fish. On a pretty day, its just a nice place to relax and watch the yachts cruise by.
Run by Florida Power & Light, this is a very bright, attractive and informative education centre.Since it is setup for wild viewing, there is no guarantee you’ll see a manatee. The centre says the manatee come in to warm up in the shallow lagoon and run-off area when the water is cold further out. So the colder the weather, the more likely you’ll get to see them.On our visit we saw a Manta Ray, which was pretty exciting.
Very interesting & informative displays! Daily tours. 2nd trip 4th visit No manatees Did see a few Baracudas!
Timing is everything is you want to see actual manatees in the lagoon (winter time) but it was still a good experience without them around. The building is well-kept and it has a lot of engaging displays and interactions throughout. Its easy to get to and get around, so you dont have to dedicate a lot of time there. It was a great stop along our vacation travels.
Tons of fun! Will definitely be returning. The tour was very educational!
The staff and experience this place puts on is fantastic (it’s free, btw). There weren’t any manatees there that day (it had been warm for a while so they didn’t need to come to the warm waters of this place), so we thought it would be a dud. Then we went inside. The staff, exhibits and facility are really impressive. My 3 kids (ages are 12, 9, 5) all found plenty to do on their own for about an hour and then one of the staff marine biologists sat down with them personally and spent over 30 min answering every question they have. The biologist, Chloe, was incredibly patient, fun, and so engaging for our kids. It was one of the highlights of our spring break trip to Palm Beach. As a bonus, the gift shop was the most reasonably priced gift shop I’ve ever seen and left me asking to make a donation (which they wouldn’t even accept)
We first visited when it was off season, and there were no manatees. But later we visited again during manatee season and there were so many. The center itself is clean, large and new and there is information and aquariums inside. During the season it was extremely busy but we still got a parking spot. Its completely free to visit and we had a great time here.
Was there for a meeting. Our group was given a very informative tour on the bottom floor. Our meeting was on the second floor which also offered a much better view of the manatees and fish in the water. Highly recommend for meetings. A local caterer served us lunch.
Excellent tour guide gave us a fascinating talk and beautiful display centre combining art and information well, some interactive touch screen displays useful for screen focussed generations. Had interesting history on them. But tour is best- make sure you get on one. Cente is Well set up for viewing manatees when there, and fully accessible with lifts to top area although we didnt see any Manatees at our visit. Still a highlight.
We liked the place. Didnt see manitees though:-) noticed only a shadow of one of them. There is a good educational center with interactive boards, describing the area and how manitees live.
If you come when it is warm outside dont expect to see manatees hanging around but you can still enjoy the Manatee Center. It is a beautiful facility with informational displays and a gift shop with lots of manatee items to purchase. If you are lucky enough to visit during cold weather expect to see lots of beautiful manatees. A wonderful experience fun for the whole family
This was a small location with just a couple rooms and an outdoor viewing area where you may get lucky and see wild manatee swim into the lagoon. We were only there for about an hour and did see a couple manatee swim up. Inside, there were small displays, that were nicely done and interesting to see. This is located near Riveria Beach, where a lot of dive boats leave from. After diving and lunch, this was a good spot to spend an hour.
Awesome spot, went to the Manatee fest..
Such a wonderful place...I love manatees didnt see any today though!
My children love science!! They were thrilled!! So much information. Not to mention its free. Thank you for such a great day for my family.
Very nice place to visit. The building is very bright and clean. We took the tour which was very informative and interesting. They have observation decks on the ground floor and second floor for the lagoon. We didnt catch any manatees but saw several barracuda and a small shark. We will definitely go back again.
Great education resource for our community. Thank you for helping educate humans about our impact to Manatees. I had been waiting for a cold Florida winter day, it was 57 F this morning. Over 100 manatees huddling for warmth.
My only issue was that we havent seen a manatee..We went in the wrong time of the year.
A lot we can do to save these beautiful creatures. Head out to level 2 to get a better view. Kids will enjoy and learn a lot about Manatee. Visit during March and November to see a lot of Manatee
Its a fun place to bring the family. The kids get to explore and learn about these wonderful manatees. The staff is very friendly and informative. You can see the manatees up close and personal outdoors swimming together.
Incredible the amount of manatees that hover in the lagoon to stay in?the warm waters. FREE PARKING FREE VIEWING. Nice place to picnic or sit on Adirondack chairs and enjoy cool weather. Nice educational center indoors and viewing areas both upstairs and downstairs. Not open on Mondays!
The manatee museum is very informative to walk through and we also enjoyed learning about the local power station. The manatees stay near the power stations water discharge on the back side of the museum. This is a free place to visit and donations are welcomed. If you happen to stop when the manatees arent there the discharge area has other fish that stay back there that are still interesting to see.
Great place to spend couple of hours with family and children. The place is well maintained and lot of parking available.
Great place to gather with family and friends.
So beautiful!! Great to see these amazing animals perfect staff very nice and friendly.
No manatee today, been to warm. Cold front coming and was told to check back but left town. Nice museum type displays of area history and ecology. Self guide but staffed for questions. Lagoon did contain barracuda and tarpon easily viewed. Check out big tree on property while there.
The observation deck and visitors / educational center are very well done and a nice place to take pictures. The grounds are also very nice. The star attraction manatees were there this morning, dozens of them - very cool. Its peaceful to watch them for a while.
This is a great place to come an visit. Is free for the public and it has an amazing view!
They do great work and raise great awareness, but its just reading about 30 signs and then a lagoon where we saw no manatees. Only took my husband and I 15 minutes (at most) to walk through. Very disappointed. Free parking and admission though with clean facilities and friendly staff
Just a few manatees on the day we went, but a long time dream was fulfilled. The facility was very nice with lots of fun and educational info. The gift shops items were priced reasonably, which is very nice at a place like this.
Great for manatee viewing and education. The manatees Gather By The warm water outflow of the power plant. Also some pretty cool stuff at the gift shop
Another beautiful and informative location in an unexpected part of town. I got there around the time the museum opened, which might have been too late in the morning to see the manatees because it was already quite warm. I did get to see some barracuda, though. The best time to see manatees seems to be on cooler days when the manatees flock to the area to warm themselves in the warm waters coming from the power plant next door.
Go during the winter months when the water is cold, thats when you see bunches of them. sometimes there are even sharks in the lagoon. there is a nice museum, information, and giftshop. all is free!
Very cool. Not many manatees this morning but we got to see a mama and her calf and two others at rest.
Worth a quick stop. The grounds are beautifully kept. The displays in the museum are informative and interesting. My personal favorite part was the sculptures made from debris collected during beach cleanup efforts - Really eye-opening. Didnt see any manatees, though; wrong time of the year.
I check their webcam daily and it was fun to go in person. Indoor displays are very informative. The center is very clean and organized -- and when you consider that it is all free... The best place for spotting manatees is the second floor outdoor deck. We saw several.
This place was awesome! Didnt cost a penny, got to learn about and even see a manatee! Worth a look for sure
This place amounts to the great experience you will mostly have when you visit West Palm Beach. Good place to learn about manatees and see them in winter.
It is a very nice and informative little area. The purpose is to help manatees, which I love! The elder employee shared between December and January is the best time to visit the Lagoon and see hundreds of manatees!
The was a really cool place to learn about manatees and the local water ecosystem.Kids had a great time
Loved seeing manatees in natural environment. Wonderful place to bring family. Very educational. Enjoyed the exhibits. Nice gift shop.
I’ve lived just down the road from this place for about 5 years and it was my first time there. How come this place not get more attentions from locals? The place is AMAZING and they’re doing great efforts to help preserve the manatees. It is a MUST GO for every local and tourist visiting Palm Beach County
Super cool spot to see some manatees up close! They do a great job with educating the public about these amazing animals, and it is free to park and visit as well.
Nice place. Sea cows are amazing!
Dont leave the area without checking it out. Especially if its a cooler day the Manatee population will be higher. Its really a cool place. Great visitor center very educational with a great little shop inside. Picnic tables available. Parking was free
Every visitor and native should stop here at some point. Manatee are very amazing creatures. Its educational and free. And right nearby is a really cute tiki bar
Nice place. Free. Can’t go wrong with that! The manatees would get close enough for us to take their picture but we still enjoyed the other fish that put on a show for us.
Great place! We brought our 3yr old son here and he loved it! From the amazing saltwater fish tanks to the huge interactive, kid friendly touchscreen TVs and pictures with Mr. Manatee. Good for kids and adults of all ages.
Fun for family and friends. Great manatee education info. Dont miss your photo with my manatee statue and live manatees!
Nice place for a short visit with kids or adults. Beautiful views! Good picnic spots outside. Great gift shop. They have programming like yoga and I think it’s free.
I would definitely rate this as top 10 things to see in WPB. I went on a cool morning in January and saw four to five manatees. Better than nothing, but it would be spectacular to see the whole reservoir filled!! The education center is great for children and adults. Ive never seen the guided tours.
Cool place to see Manatees and get info about them. They have a Manatee cam too so you can see if theyre there before you come and visit. Best of all... its FREE!
Wonderful education center. Great experience for adults and children. Beautiful facility and nice gift shop. Additional educational tours at scheduled times. Also, the tours and facilty visit is free. Great thing FPL is doing with this center! I hope this helps create awareness, so people are more diligent and careful to not hurt the manatees and their habitat.
Manatee Lagoon is a great place to view manatees when the weather is cooler & also a great place to learn all about manatees. And it is free! Definitely worth the trip to see manatees staying warm there in the water by the power plant.
Great place. Informative and fun. Wasnt so many manatees when we went though. check the live cam on their site before you go to see how many are there.
VARY nice, and FREE!.. on a sunny day you can clearly see a few manatees hanging out right near the observation deck.. a TON of fish and we also saw two nurse sharks... really cool. Kids loved it.
60 or even more manatees were getting warm in a hot water discharging of energy plant gasturbine+steam combined cycle
We were able to see dozens of manatees close up. The information center is very well done.
I recommend going during the colder winter months. Otherwise, there is not much chance of seeing the manatees outside. The manatees swim into the small canal between Manatee Lagoon and the FPL power plant. The like the warm water that is discharged by FPL.There is a small oceanic educational center indoors which is great for children and school trips. Its not a big place and it wont take long to see everything. Hopefully it will grow and revitalize Riviera Beach.FREE ADMISSION AND FREE PARKING!
Good experience and learning time for the kids... i am glad a new exhibit is coming soon...friendly staff....free admission...
Go when its cold (by FL standards) and youll see a LOT of manatees. Very nice outdoor and indoor areas, and its free. They have a manatee cam on their website so you can see if there are any manatees before you go.
Really awesome little museum displays info on the sweet primitive creatures
Really nice place for a quiet and beautiful day. The aqamarine colour of the water is appealing. Manatees are seen only on cool days.
The population of Manatees has blossomed in recent years. FPL has done an admirable job of contributing to protecting them and their environment.
Great facility... pack a lunch so you can hang out to see the Manatee. Not always there but odds are good... use as an “educational excursion” to earn back that educational trip for the kids.
