Looks like a nice place to camp. The grass/weeds needed to be cut around the sites when we drove through. We havent stayed yet, but just wanted to check the place out for a future camping trip. Nice level full hookup sites with gravel. Took some pics of some of the sites as we drove through. Hope they help.

Goose Creek N.C. State Park - this place is a real gem for campers who are not neccesarily into power boating, but are looking for a quiet natural setting. The campground is virtually brand new and there are many miles of easy hiking trails. Plus- a beautiful swimming beach on the shore of the Pamlico river. A very dark sky makes star gazing an excellent evening activity!

This state park is quite a hidden gem. Extensive trails that take visitors though a wide range of ecosystems and habitats. The boardwalk is damaged near the end but we did enjoy a good portion of it over the marshes. Best thing during covid times is how completely void of people the park is on a Saturday afternoon.

RV campsites are large and bath house is pristine. Miles of beautiful trails (Palmetto Boardwalk has a section that needs repair). Goose Creek and Flatty Creek are great kayaking areas. Bring insect repellent for yourself (mosquitoes) and don’t forget tick prevention for the dogs. I gave only 4 stars because the boat ramp is about 4 miles from the RV campground. We’ll definitely be back again.

12 primitive tent sites are beautiful, and so are the bathhouse facilities in the new rv/camper/cabin area. Unfortunately, when they created this new section, they cleared most of the trees, leaving nice, flat campsites with full hook-ups that absolutely BAKE in the NC sun. The swimming area is officially closed (COVID) to prevent crowds, but no one complained when 6 of us swam anyway, social distancing in the water. Kayaking was lovely, especially on the canoe trail to the flower garden.

Visited on our way to our vacation destination. It was a wonderful hike and easy if you have small children. There’s a nice dock to look out onto the water. The “beach” was underwhelming. Strictly for hiking, fishing, camping and boating from what we gathered.

This park has an interesting landscape and a decent visitors center with clean bathrooms. There are a few exhibits in the visitors center. We were unable to park at the lots near the campgrounds because the beach area is closed so that limited the trails we could walk on. We took the Palmetto Boardwalk trail but it was broken near the end so we were unable to pass to connect to the Tar Kiln Trail or the Ivey Gut Trail. The Palmetto Boardwalk trail is flat and easy so good for small children.

Well maintained trails and good primitive tent campground. Tent sites are well spaced and not right on top of each other, like some other parks. We saw the new cabins and bath house but did not stay in them. The new buildings are very nice and well built.Experienced hikers can hike all the trails in a day. This park could be a day trip for most people. All of the trails are flat and easy to walk.

Many of the primative campsites have a private feel since many are spaced a good distance from each other. A few sites have hiking trails that come close to the campsites which is a downside for us since we like privacy! We have a small travel trailer and a quiet generator so most of the primative sites work for us.The RV sites are new so not many trees for shade. Each has its own pump out. There is no other pump out at the park so have to make arrangements with Park ranger to meet at an empty site and pay $12.

My family recently camped (tent) at Goose Creek for a week. GCCG is a clean and well managed park. Immediately upon entrance to the park, you notice the well manicured grounds and open spaces. The visitor center is closed (due to covid) but the doors leading to the restroom are open. The Park Rangers do a great job of posting information about the park and what to expect, plus they are very active in the park. You will see them driving around checking in with visitors, looking over facilities, etc. (They take pride). My review will focus on primitive camping but drove around the grounds thru RV and cabin camping - both of which looked very nice and comfortable. We stayed on site #9 this trip and find it to be the best site of the 14. This was set back of the road and was quite distant from 8 (couple hundred feet) and 10 (by about 100ft). #9 was far enough away from the waste bins and restroom that it wasnt bothersome, and also the water pump. #9 sat parallel to the Goose Creek hiking trail but was 50 feet of so. #9 has plenty of tall trees providing lots of shade and coverage during hot summer days, and a fantastic evening breeze.#9 has a lot of parking spaces if camping with other people or additional vehicles are necessary. The restrooms are basically outhouses in stilts that has hand sanitizer for handwash but are very clean! There are no showers for primitive campers. RV and cabin campers have access to showers. I suggest bringing a hanging shower and using the pump water for showering (if you feel the need). At the end of the loop are some really nice outlooks onto the sound and a small pier. It is absolutely peaceful!

There needs to be a 3.5 rating, and this is only a rating of the camping/RV area. It is NEW.. Bonus points for the RV sites 50amp and full (yes Sewer) hook ups, tent pad, fire rings, picnic tables all new..Of course the bathhouse is new and very nice (heat only)... I know we were there the week of the 4th of July..(oppressive heat) but there is currently NO shade. Trees will come but the few that are there offer no relief.I found pictures of the cabins online by searching for them. None currently on their website. A/C and power inside and out but no water, or cooking facilities indoors. They do have fire ring and grills, and water spigot at the road. Happy Trails and good times to all that visit.

Infested with ticks! Incredibly beautiful beach area by the sound. There are miles of trails by the sound, through swampy areas, and woodland forests. Wildlife Rangers are very serious about the rules and constantly check on you. Very safe, but not much privacy.Do not bring your dogs. Mine are infested with ticks every time that I visit during the summer. I am taking my youngest to the vet right now because she has literally over 1,000 freckle-sized ticks all over her body, in every crevass. I have been picking for hours and am getting nowhere.

Beautiful park with excellent maintained trails. The highlight to me was definitely by the Live Oak part of the trail where you can lay under the trees and listen to the waves.IMPORTANT: There are TONS of ticks. My dog had a dozen or more on her and I had even more on me. They were extremely small an hard to find. Smaller than a freckle. I had on tan north face pants and something about that just attracted them they were all over. Honestly I had such a great time I want to go back but unless they get the ticks under control I don’t know if I will.UPDATE: I went back again an same thing in the grasses near the water lots of super tiny ticks. This time I was prepared with off brand bug spray so as soon as I saw the first one I sprayed up real good and that seemed to do it. In a nut shell, just come prepared with bug spray. It well worth it such a beautiful park. The park Rangers are so great and helpful too!

I really loved that Goose Creek had some nature trails in the woods and some along the water. Very picturesque. Theres also a small beach for swimming although its at your own risk and there are rooted dead trees in the surf so beware. There are shaded picnic tables and grills. Really nice, brand new RV park in Goose creek. Opened Nov. 18. The single loop has about 20 RV sites and 5-6 super cute little 2-room cabins. The cabins appear to have heat and AC, and are very close to the bath house. RV pads are gravel, very level and the sites are a nice size (larger than most, plenty of room between neighbors). Most all sites look like they can accommodate large rigs (>40). Since the park is brand-new, it will a couple years before the trees and shrubs return to create privacy between sites. Full hookups at each site (30A and 50A service).

We camped in one of the Group Camp sites for two nights, 21 and 22 June 2019, with the Boy Scouts, Troop 11 based out of Goldsboro, NC. This is a very well cared for State Park. The visitors center has a lot of information about local flora and fauna, and includes a museum and a really nice meeting room. There is a staffed attendant there to assist you during hours. From there you have access to several trails, including the Palmetto Raised Path through the wetlands, (be advised that the path is, as of this writing, still closed to through traffic from last years hurricane damage). The roads are paved and they are building some really nice cottages to rent near the entrance to the park. There is a bathhouse that is shared among the two Group Sites. The amenities in the bathhouse are limited to one stall and one urinal on the mens side. Two sinks that worked well. There are no showers. The bathrooms are regularly tended to so they are clean and stocked with soap and paper towels. Each site has a steel trash receptacle with compartments for trash and recycling and heavy doors to prevent wildlife from accessing the inside. The site had three all-weather picnic tables, a fire pit and a grill. There were two poles with hooks to hang food bags or trash bags off the ground. The common area of the site is crushed gravel with manicured grass surrounding it. There are plenty of trees to hang hammocks from, and a lot of room for tents. We had two large tents and 6 hammocks. There are nice walking trails, and a great swimming area within walking distance from the group site. The swimming area had life jackets available to swimmers who wish to use them. The bathroom associated with the swimming area is a pretty good walk from the beach, so be prepared for that. The wildlife is plenty. We saw a lot of deer, turtles, several species of bird, and a cute Grey Fox who smelled our food cooking. Be warned that the ticks and mosquitos are very active and the population is emence, so bring and use plenty of bug repellant and sleep inside a screen. We would definitely camp here again!

Free admission. Open 7AM - 8PM. Many walking trails which are very well-maintained. Verizon signal: can text, but no data. Regarding the Campground: $15. It is primitive with a central shared (threated so you can fill your tank) potable water spigot. My 24 B+ RV fit. Id say 27 foot is maximum size - and probably only 3 of the 14 spots. No trailers... well - maybe a 10 Tab / teardrop or similar if youre very experienced: trees on both sides of very narrow entry, plus both sides of all sites

Situated near the mouth of the Pamlico River and about half way between the cities of historic Bath and Washington is Goose Creek State Park. This park is ideal for anyone who loves water. There are beaches both for the public and for campers, a boat ramp, and unique ecology in swamp and forest that can be easily reached via clearly marked pathways. The Visitors Center may be one of the most impressive Ive ever seen and plays hosts to all sort of educational programs for people of all ages. This park is also ideal for large group gatherings for even those who are not all too curious to be immersed in nature. There is a large open area for makeshift sports, covered picnic shelters, and plenty of easily -accessible restroom facilities. Offering eight miles of trails that run through pines, on the edge of the Pamlico, over marches and beside cypress swamps, Goose Creek is a real catch-all for finding easy access to what Coastal Carolina is really made of. When I was there all trails were clearly marked with sand-trails or by easily seen tree markers. They are mostly flat and great for an easy stroll. An easy walk from the second largest parking area (the largest being the Visitors Center) is a public swimming area and beach. There are easy trails that lead down to this area and they run past restrooms and picnic tables. There are also tables down by the beach area so that guests have areas to place their items without having to worry too much about the sand. What I loved the most about this area was the free life-jacket rental station. Everyone can be safe here and through little effort. While I found the water to be very shallow near the beach, this effort certainly doesnt hurt anyone. It is recommended to wear shoes in this water due to the nearby trees and their roots. While I was there I had this entire area to myself, however, I imagine that it fills up fast in the summer. The good news is there area plenty of trails nearby to walk on if things get too crowded.Goose Creek is easily one of the parks that I could take up full-time residency in and be just fine forever...however since that is not legal it looks like Ill have to make due with the two-week camping limit in the near future. One of the unique features that this park offers those staying amongst the fourteen spaced out sites is its own swimming area and pier for campers. These camp sites vary in amenities, but they all offer general parking and fire pits. Water came be found nearby along with restrooms. There is also two primitive group camping sites are available near the middle of the Goose Creek Trail. These are in a convenient location to the public swimming area and the restrooms there.Whether youre looking to get away from humans and spend your time with your dog on the trails surrounded by the sounds of wind running through pine needles or just looking to grab some friends and family and spend a nice afternoon in the fresh air, this park has plenty to offer everyone.@AquarianQuirks#getparkedatncstateparks
