I would give this more stars if I could! If you visit DC, you have to attend this event! I can’t say enough! I wish I could post videos for you all to see how fantastic this is! I attended the event for July 4th. No better place to be than in our nation’s capital during this time of year-very patriotic.
Beautiful and regal. The history in that place is amazing. Spent a whole week living above Center House with access to the bar below whilst training with the Marines there. Ooh Rah!
Semper Fidelis! To all those who served in the beloved Marine Corps, to those who are currently serving and to those who will one day step onto the yellow footprints Semper Fi and thank you for your service.I was privileged and honored to attend a night at the Marine Corps Barracks. the Oldest and most prestigious barracks in the corps. The performance of the Marines was spectacular. I rode my motorcycle across the US from Los Angeles to DC for Memorial Day and this was a HUGE Highlight of the trip.If you are a Marine, you need to visit.
An amazing experience for all. The oldest active USMC post in the world. Get your tickets in advance online. Give yourself plenty of time to park and arrive. I found it just as easy and faster to walk from the parking location on M Street versus riding the bus. All of the Marines are extremely kind and helpful. The parade lasts about 2 hours. Marching band, Silent Drill team, Marine Corps mascot, honored guest(s), lowering of flag, Taps and more. A true honor to witness.
On the south end of Capitol Hills Barracks Row is the longest standing Marine barracks in the country built by Thomas Jefferson in 1801. Within the barracks is one of the oldest houses in the city built in 1803 to house the commandants of the entire Marines. The commandant still lives in the house. From March/April through August every year, the Marine band puts on free concerts on Fridays for the community. All are welcome!
The Friday Night Parade is a spectacular show that everyone should see when visiting DC. Living in the neighborhood is even better.
You totally need to experience a Friday night parade here at the barracks! The Marines are awesome!! My hubby was stationed here when we were dating many years ago!
Since 1801 & still going strong!
The Oldest Post in the Marine Corps! Fascinating history. If you ever have a chance, visit!
Such a cool place lots of history. If you ever get a chance to go see the sunset parade in the summer time do it, you will not be disappointed.
This is a great place to visit. Every Friday starting in May the Marine Corps put on a great show. This is the best of the best Marines. I know occasionally a special guest will make an appearance. On the day that I attended the VP of the US was there. Again this is a great place to see whether you are military or not. Go and support of Marines.
What a great opportunity for our family to see the final parade of 2018 at The Marine Barracks.
A must visit while visiting all the other historical buildings/monuments. Especially if you are a Marine!
What an amazing group of Marines!
The Marine Gift Shop is a neat little place to visit. All the Marines that we saw around the barracks were really nice and helpful. We would love to cien back and take a tour of the barracks.
Even though I have been out of the Marine Corps over 35 Years I always think of this place. Visited February 24 2017 about 0800. Walked around the Barracks. The Guards seemed very interested in what I was doing there. Even approached by a Lance Corporal wanting to know what I was doing.
The Evening Parade, held on Friday evenings during the summer, is a must-see at The Marine Barracks 8th & I in Washington DC. Must make on-line reservation at least 96 hours in advance. We recommend it.
This is a nice parade. Every american should go to see it at least once in their life times.
I was fortunate to live across the street from the Commandant for two years and had the benefit of the safety provided by all of the armed guards. They were always professional and courteous!
Please we need help in Milwaukee Wisconsin
Truly a wonderful show! Every American should see this show. Certainly goes to show you what precision/expertise each and every Marine is subject to. They are the best we have, God Bless them all!!
I love you!
They always have great shows.
Always awesome.
Attending Friday Night Parades has become a family tradition & my sons agree that its the best part of summer! (Husband served in USMC, was stationed at 8th & I Barracks 1995-96.)
The United States Marine Core always deliver when it comes to Drill and Ceremony, I recommend in the summer months to drink a lot of water.
Neat place to be on a Friday night during the summer. Get a ticket online or line up early for a seat.
My brother served in the Marine Corp in the band during the Nixon Era. Wonderful trumpet player. RIP James Underwood
Makes one (especially any former Marine) proud. These young Marines of the silent drill team and The Presidents Own band never fail to deliver. Semper Fi!
