Learned a lot about history of trolley/street cars. We went back in time when we rode on 2 trolleys. Will go back. Highly recommend visiting this museum!!!!
Great way to spend a Saturday!! Two trolley rides and lots of neat information about Pittsburgh.
We had so much fun! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. When you first get there, you purchase your tickets in the gift shop (which are good all day). Then you walk out to the platform. There are 2 different Trolley rides. The first Trolley is an old time passenger car with windows. That one takes you for a 15 min ride around and back to the station. The other Trolley is an open car with no doors. That one takes you to the museum. There are lots of old cars starting with the very first cars. It was really neat to learn about them and how they progressed over time. My 4 year old had a great time too. I would definitely recommend.
We stopped to visit for the Daniel Tiger event. Though the breakfast felt a bit rushed, we enjoyed the whole event. You take a trolley ride to the museum. The volunteer conductors were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. On our way back to the parking lot, our trolley had to wait for another trolley car. The volunteer explained what was going on. He also explained the history of the trolley we were on. He also talked to us about the other trolley which was the actual Streetcar named Desire. Each trolley had information about what it was near it. We also could go inside a few and see what they were like.
Really cool destination and super fun spot. Two rides and a museum tour. Well worth it.
We took our grand niece here the day after Thanksgiving. It is a very small museum with not much to see and do. We took 2 trolley rides; the Letter to Santa ride and the Santa Claus ride. The Letter to Santa ride was somewhat boring. The Santa Claus ride made the trip memorable and earned this museum 3 stars. They offered hot chocolate, cookies, and crafts in one building for a donation if you desired. The cookies were Danish cookies in a tin can. Volunteers poured fresh hot chocolate which was good. The crafts were kits ordered from an Oriental Trading like company. There were no volunteers to help with the crafts.Luckily, we ended our visit with the Santa Claus trolley ride. It was worth it just for that.
A must see. Excellent tour guide.
The trolley museum was great the conductors are very knowledgeable
Really cool to step back in time and ride and see these old trolleys. Can not wait to see what the furture brings for the museum
This is a little hidden gem! Every single person on staff that we talked to was kind and knowledgable. We were there for the Daniel Tiger weekend and it was perfect! Multiple trolly rides, a story time on a trolly car, a craft, a free snack of popcorn and lemonade... the kid appropriate fun just kept coming! Well be back again to explore on a regular weekend!
Wonderful people. Nicely kept museum. Plenty of parking. If you ever rode a streetcar, this is the place for you!
Beatiful place with trolleys from all parts of Pennsylvania. Have a lot of fun riding and watching cars.
One of the best operating trolley exhibits around. A large variety of equipment and a nice ride. First class professional operation and facilities.
An awesome experience! It was really cool to ride one trolley from 1920s and another from 1940-50s. I cant wait to see their expansion(coming about 2 years). All the people are super friendly and enjoy providing this experience to visitors. Look at their website they have many activities throughout the year.
Plenty for the kids to do. They loved the simulator. Be sure to watch out for the cow .
First time there I wish at the museum part I could see and take pictures of the old trolleys that were there
If you have an interest in rail car, definitely visit. I had a great time. A fair number of antique trolleys to see. Our conductor and operator were very knowledgeable and gave a great tour. If you have time, I reccomemd riding the trolley to the show building twice. Once to listen to the guided tour, and the other to just stay back and look at the trolleys up close. Also, dont miss the trolley simulator in the main building. It was fun to get a chance to use the actual control system.
Went here for an Easter event. My kids loved it a bc the staff was super friendly. You get to ride on working streetcars and enjoy the past. Highly recommended. Ive included pictures of two of the cars we got to ride on.
This place is almost entirely run by volunteers and you can feel the love put into the place when you visit. The guides are very knowledgeable and happy to share what they know about this fantastic resource. Adults and kids alike enjoy riding on trolleys. Learn how to drive a trolley on the new simulator in the visitor center! So fun! Get a membership; youll be back ;)
Great place to bring the kids and the grandparents. Always something new to see. Santa trolley is great if its not too cold.
Great fun for young and old. If you ever rode a trolley or a streetcar it will bring back memories. The kids had a great first trolley rode. Definitely a good place to stop.
We found this museum so interesting! Its amazing that some of these trolleys still run! To get the opportunity to ride on one was fantastic!! We thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of a means of transportation from yesteryear. Taking the ride pulled us back in time. The whole experience was awesome!
Unique place with great charm. They keep the vehicles well maintained with a eye towards preserving authenticity.
Awesome museum to see all the history around the Trolleys that ran around our area and throughout the country. Amazing staff and time peices!
Well u took a trolly to the other side for 27$ then they tell you o yeah u cant check out the other trolleys because we dont have enough people working today o but the kid can ring a bell. How about charge less if its not open.
Awesome experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting and of course the trolley rides were great fun.
We went during their Halloween event and it was nice. There were three trolleys in operation that day and we rode them all. The conductors and other volunteers were very knowledgeable a d friendly. The lactation room in the back of the stteet car storage area with a rocking chair and a changing table was a lovely suprise!
Great time for the railroad trolley enthusiastic.$10/ $9 seniors ride all day. Definitely not a wheelchair or handicapped museum. Lots of walking.
Weve done the Santa Trolley for the last two years with our 5yo and 2yo boys. Our 5to has special needs and they are accommodating and super sweet.
You can tell they know their stuff and are thrilled people still care! My son loves every visit/ride!
Family friendly. Volunteers really knowledgeable and kind. You should definitely make the trip.
Went there today. Took my grandma. She is in a wheelchair. We got inside and bought our tickets. Looked around a bit and the nice people inside had called The operators and let them know they had a visitor in a wheelchair. They had mobile elevators set up for us to get her in the trolley and back off of it at the drop off location. They gave us a nice tour of the trolleys in thier museum and nicer staff to accommodate.
Great place to have a childs birthday party. The trolley ride was nice. The trolley Conductor made it authentic.
We had a wonderful day. The museum has more trolleys than we imagined, and we appreciated the narrative about the history of trolleys and their uniqueness.
Great experience. Super fun riding the trolleys. Volunteer ran and everywhere most friendly and enthusiastic.
This is one of the few places that you can go and actually get a sense of what public transportation was like not too long ago. Its important for kids and adults alike to remember that trolleys and trams were super important to the developing suburbs and the city feeling of America in the 1900s. the kids really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful place to bring them and something novel is always exciting.
Relaxing day. Loads of knowledge.. Great collection of trolleys..Nice trolley ride
Very interesting & fun. Great place for children, too. Good educational experience for them.
I Love the place! Excellent staff, service and I will recommend
Great ! Lots to see. Take trolly to see all the cars they have.
Well maintained, local history enlivened, and ride a vintage trolley.
This is a great interactive museum. Everyone is nice, and very real. They gave any info you needed including directions.
We love it here. If you have kids, go! The special events are so much fun, and the conductors are friendly and answer any questions kids (or adults) have. Great family fun.
Very interesting! Everyone knew what they were talking about and the tour was excellent. Would come again, :)
Inexpensive, close to Pittsburgh and fun for the kids.
Its a cool little stop if youre in the area like history.
Great place to visit for a short tour and a trolly ride. In the next couple years they will have an all new visitor center but visit now while you can get 2 rides one to the restoration center and one along the whole line.
Upgraded to three as other events say well organized, what happened here???Two for trying... Totally disorganized for the Dinosaur Train event. All but shamed us for not buying tickets online (they were obviously frustrated) saying they had very limited ticketing at the site and they were sold out till 1:00 tomorrow. Looked online while standing there, tickets were available. So we bought them after the person at the desk said that was impossible. The event dinosaur was a stuffed??? Dinosaur on a bench and a few hurriedly tossed together kids events. Sad, should have been cool.Sadly seemed as nothing more than a do what little we can to earn money for the museum.5 stars for preserving history... 2 stars for the event.
Great experience, truly a Hidden Gem of the Greater Pittsburgh area (tho easy to get to). Extensive collection of operating vintage trolleys, enthusiastic knowledgeable staff. Whether you remember riding the streetcars or have never yet had the pleasure, you will enjoy this trip back in Time. Experience how your grandparents and/or great-great grandparents traveled around town, and from town to town in their daily lives before everyone owned a car. Speaking of antique and classic autos, the Trolley Museum has an Antique Car Show in June each year (Antique Truck Show too, see their website for details, plus there are many special events throughout the year). Plenty of American history, Interactive displays, kid-friendly fun and of course adults will enjoy too. Weve been visiting here since it was the Arden Trolley Museum and its always enjoyable. BTW if youre going to the Washington County Fair, be sure to Ride the Trolley to the Fair. Highly recommend the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum
Nice educational museum about the history of the trolley system.
Super nice employees. It was Daniel Tiger day!
We went to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum for the ride with Santa. The facility is nice. It had an electric train display which was small but well put together. There is a small gift shop and museum area. A separate building housed a little lunch room. They have some nice old trolleys on display and the one used for the ride with Santa was from the 1920si believe.
A great museum. My children love visiting and riding on the trolleys. The volunteers are very good with children.I highly recommend visiting!
It was a wonderful visit. We were lucky to see the parade of Pittsburgh Trolleys.
A great place to learn about the history of trolleys and fascinating for children!
What an amazing museum with a great collection
Trolley rides, friendly hosts and a lot of history of trolleys!! Who could ask for more. Combine with a stop at Sarris Candies for ice cream or your favorite spot and you have a nice daytrip.
Loved seeing the old street cars!
Had alot of fun and learned alot too
Awsome
Great place for whole family. Has the Streetcar Named Desire there . Got great picture with granddaughters in front of it.
Great fun, awesome collection of trolleys and trolley related artifacts. Friendly people that make your experience a memorable one.
Fun history stop on the way to Lancaster, PA.
Great ride and lots of historically valuable collection of trolleys and much more!
A unique facility where you can ride fully-restored classic trolleys and learn about the history and view the relics of this form of transportation. See where Mr. Rogers got his inspiration for the trolley on his neighborhood.
Fun and interesting place to take the kids :-) during our visit on 10/18 the longer portion of track was closed for upgrades. Well be excited to go back and see the improvements!
Great place to take the kids.
Ive been here once, and yet, I absolutely adore this place. The staff is so incredibly friendly and welcoming (they even allowed us in the maintenance bay!), and the magnitude of the history there is astounding. This is not just for families and children - anyone can appreciate the history and inexplicably fun nature of seeing something so ornate, loved and outdated :) Will absolutely return many times.
Quaint museum and nice trolley ride
The Daniel Tiger event was wonderful. Our little grandson loved it!
A fun place for the entire family.
Perfect stop for a transit geek like me. Awesome collection of old trolleys and such a great experience getting to ride them. Only wish we had more time to self explore the barns.
Loved this trip to the past. Ride on a real working trolley. Visit the gift shop and make a craftHave taken the kids to the Pumpkin trolley. Santa trolley. Workers are dressed in the uniforms worn of days of old. What a great time for the whole family, school field trip. Curriculum for teaching the young about the trolleys. Reminds me of Mr.Rodgers neiborhood.
Great great place. Wonderful time for little ones and grown ups alike. We always learn something new when we go there. Staff is amazing and welcoming. Step back in time and enjoy a relaxing ride on one of their many unique trolleys.
We have 2 young boys that love trains, this was a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Fascinating to sit and talk with the volunteers that are here. Working trolley lines, and we rode on the Streetcar Named Desire. The kids love it. We try to stop out during the holidays because they always have something fun going on like the pumpkin patch. This is definitely a destination place if your kids like trains or if you love the history of the trolleys!
Love the place. Great history center. Just sitting on the trolley and reading all the old signs brings back memories.
Awesome collection and display of vintage trolly cars. Includes rides on the trolleys.
Very nice place to visit
We went to see Daniel Tiger. Great for the whole family!
Loved it, everyone was so friendly and accommodating to our handicapped son
Exceeded expectations. It really did. Highly recommend.
A wonderful collection of trolleys and other historical artifacts. You get to ride the rails and talk with people who really know the history, and the operation, of these machines.
Very knowledgeable volunteers, a lot of old trolleys, and a museum. Rode 2 trolleys.
I grew up here and always loved this place and Ill always love the place
Daniel Tiger weekend was great. They didnt rush the kids. They didnt have too many crazy rules. If you wanted to take an extra picture or two, you could. Nicely done.
Went to Daniel Tiger weekend. The kids loved it! We had breakfast with Daniel, rode the trolley, and went through the museum. Staff were great and did a wonderful job!
Weve been to several events now, and they are always well-organized and lots of fun. A typical event includes two trolley rides and a self-guided walk through the warehouse with the old trolleys. The volunteer staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful.Parking can be an issue on event days, but theres always ample space across the street.
Incredible place, fun for whole family. Great restoration work on historic trolies.
Nice place to spend the afternoon.
Great place to go. Fantastic time. These guys know their stuff and can really put a forgotten era on display!
If you like trolleys, this is the place for you. We went on a day when Daniel Tiger was visiting. There was a surprising amount of stuff out for kids to do - but I dont know if it is all out on an average day. Theres nothing overly fancy here, but riding the trolley was fun. The kids enjoyed it.
