The comedians were absolutely hilarious. I really like the style and layout of the venue. There is not a bad seat in the house. The manager, Pete, was extremely nice and I Hope to make this a regular place to visit every time Im in DC.
Small, fun, intimate. Lucky if you find an up and coming comic before they blow up here. Snacks, beer, spirits and wine available...average price is close to $9 a drink...little more little less. But tix ($20 ea.) and 2 rounds of 3 drinks ($29) was less than $100. Not bad for a quality date.
Great place and great comedians! Ive been here 5 times. You always get your monies worth and then some. I like the intimacy of the venue. It is indeed small.
First time visiting the venue. Very intimate space with clear sightlines and good acoustics. We saw Rhea Butcher and they were amazing. Also parking on the street on a Saturday was pretty easy in this part of town.
Went on a couples date night with some good friends, havent seen live stand up in a long time and I havent been to DCs in awhile either... We all had a great night in the city, it started with DCs Comedy Drafthouse. Our 1st time at this venue. Space was not big nothing fancy. Just a mic a small stage and rows of chairs like half of a movie theater almost. Theirs snacks and drinks spot by the entrance when you enter the venue. Brew, wine, some mix drinks, and candies & chips etc. can be purchased thru out the show. The show started shortly after scheduled time. Matt Braunger was our head liner. My man was hilarious definitely got our laughs worths, one other comedian open before Matt did, he was funny as well. Definitely had a fun time and laugh our butts off. And also got another great feeling and memory from this. Well put by Matt, we dont have these human interaction alot anymore like we use too.... everybody is glued to there phones and laptops just like I am right now but make the time get out there and enjoy the NOW and people around you.
Your experience maybe different from mine. I went last year around this time of year. I dimby even live in DC anymore. The food was good I remember...I think the name changed.
The venue is intimate and you can feel the comedians vibe with enthusiasm on stage. We will return b/c I love my FEMALE COMEDIANS and my wife too
A fun spot to hear up-and-coming comedians fine tune routines on their way to (hopeful) stardom. An intimate setting lends itself to similar joke palaces in New York or Boston.
Small venue, but easy to get to. Bar was out of half their menu, so that could be improved.
The choice of artists is usually hit or miss. The long room does not seem to be as cozy as in other Drafthouse in Arlington. It became better when the placed the chairs facing the wide side of the room. However, the atmosphere is still very far from the pleasantness of Arlington one.
Great place to go and relax, have a good laugh. I loved that these were people with different jobs, trying out stand up on the side. Kudos to women comedians, they were hilarious! Really like how affordable the tickets are too.
First time visiting DC and first comedy show. Had a great time!
Low-key venue for comedy. Large drink selection, if not a little cramped for the lines, but theres no bad seat. Prices are affordable too.
Fun place to see comedians. Large seating area with attached drinks and snacks vendor.
Small venue perfect for watching your friends in amateur comedy shows. Seats 200. Relatively new looking. Would be an amazing venue to catch pros since its such an intimate space. Long and rectangular, so best seats are in the middle.
Good spot I gave it 4 stars because parking is limited to parking garages or if youre lucky in finding street parking
We went to the Attack of the Comics show. There were definitely some low spots, but the highs were so much higher and brighter than the lows. There were a couple young ladies that Im expecting to see big things from in the future. Best part? It was free! Loved it.
This place is an awesome spot to see a favorite comedian. Its not huge, but is roomy enough to be comfortable. Very funny making eye contact with the comedians - they actually feed off your laughter.
Always great shows. Buy drinks once you arrive. Intimate feel, big enough, but small and up close. Great staff. Love the free improv after the last paid show.
Great comedy club in the city without the moldy smell of so many others. We saw a free open mic night show and really enjoyed ourselves and the comedians.
This was a relatively small venue, with great visibility of the act we were there to see, and a pleasant atmosphere. Drinks were available, and I believe some snacks were too. I like smaller venues, they make the performance feel more personal, and the crowd size isnt suffocating. I would like to see more shows there in the future.
Intimate and entertaining, the venue is perfect for people serious about comedy.
Pros:The comics were all very good; the host, opening act, and headliner.Cons:I attended the 7:00 PM Saturday show. After the host, opening act, and headliner all performed, The show in its entirety was over by 8:00 PM prompt. It was 8:03 pm as I checked my watch while walking outside the building. The parking garage identified on the website was closed before 7:00 PM on Saturday, and all the garages I saw as I was driving around the venue we’re closed as well.No food service, but you can purchase packaged snacks and drinks.
Great show, easy to access, relaxed atmosphere. Comedy stage feels intimate and you feel close to the action. Clean and neat. Service is efficient and friendly. Will definitely go here again.
I love this small and cozy place. If want just get out the house for laughter. I recommend here for it.
It was free which was nice. Pretty funny, laughed a lot
We saw Shane Gillis. He was HILARIOUS!!! The opening act was great to
Good affordable comedy. Saw Megan Gailey this past weekend. The Drafthouse in Washington D.C. is a nice small venue. They also have an cash bar which is a nice convenience
Great venue to see local comics and national headliners
Fun and cozy venue. Four gender neutral restrooms. Lines move at good pace. Could use vents/AC, but clean. Concessions stand is a bit cramped but really friendly and quick service. Usual candy and chips. M and Ms can of coke and diet coke $6.50. So very reasonable compared to $5.00 small waters at Warner Theater. Was a lot of fun. Two thumbs up. Not a bad seat in the house.
Saw Chris Destefano here. He was great. The club is small and intimate. The drinks are mixed well and the prices are cheap for DC. Their rice Krispy like snacks are awesome. Will definitely return. Caught dinner and drinks at Stans 1 block away before the show, great night out. Easy parking found on street for early show.
Was invited to the place to see the routines of stand up comediennes, especially south Asian ones. Some of them were very good and some were not so good. But overall a nice experience and a fun way to kill some time.
Number one spot in DC for very affordable tickets. The talent that comes in is great!
Nice laid back atmosphere. Comedians was very funny amd they even had decent drinks. Me and the wife came past this place while on our date night. Well worth it.
Its ok, just chairs around the stage. Good sound system. Drinks were outrageous
No frills comedy club. No table service like a typical comedy club but theres a bar out front. Open seating so get there early if you want to be near the front. Wish the ceilings were a bit lower cause the room feels pretty big but it still feels intimate enough for a 50 or so seater club
Great show. Hilarious local and national talent. All seats are close to the stage.
Perfect smaller venue. Have seen numerous shows here and it never disappoints.Good bar selection for drinks or snacks. Seating is intimate and gets you right up to the stage.
Great place to see comedians in an intimate setting. Had an entertaining time.
DC Drafthouse is an awesome venue! I had a great drink and saw a great show for under $30. Will be back again!
Not the usual vibe. The tiniest bar I have ever seen, no food, just bagged snacks. Line up was ok. Some were more funnier than others. They need to clean the seats, animal hair on them
Its a really cool spot, but the acoustics are such that, if someone is talking in the audience, you cant hear the comedian.
Hands down the place to spend your time on a saturdsy night in dc before drinking. The comedians are funny and alcoholic beverages are offered at reasonable prices. i would definitely recommend.
I enjoyed the venue. Intimate, but still spacious. Cute little bar in the lobby; seemed to be adequately stocked. Comedians were funny enough to be a step above improv level which was nice.
Excellent venue. The staff was friendly, our show was awesome, and the theater is small and personal. Oh, and the drink prices are weirdly reasonable.Note that the theater is set up differently than pictured now. The stage is centered on the long wall, and chairs arc around it so youll likely end up much closer to the performer.
This small, intimate comedy club had an easy going atmosphere with open seating. It was a no fuss experience and easy to get drinks.
Nice comedy for a free event, though the humor focused heavily on race issues on the particular night I was there (and one patron and her two friends were offended when called out by the mc on mildly boisterous behavior for being white girl wasted, which ended up being awkward). There were some folks who have potential, and Id totally go again. . .it was free! And, it was nice supporting area talent.
Great comedy club for seeing up and coming and well-known talent. Tickets are reasonable, staff is friendly, club is clean and unfussy!
Inexpensive, but fun comedy venue. Often features comedians who are writers and on circuits such as the evening talk shows and SNL. No minimum purchase, small bar, laid back. Bare bones atmosphere.
We saw a Second City show here and it was great, small venue that is sort of like a large conference room, but the comedy was great.
Free comedy nights on Fridays and Saturdays with no drink minimums make for a great date night or fun with friends without breaking the bank. Rare and appreciated in the DC area!
Decent acts right in DC.
Felonious Munk was great, loved the other comedians as well. I need the 7 cities to really embrace the talent we have.
Went to a late night comedy open Mic. Open seating, no cover. All seats with good view. It features a series of short sets of mon-professional but practiced and active comics. Several VERY funny and only a few were not. Enjoyable time! Would go back definitely!
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I honestly didnt know what to expect. But the setting was very intimate which usually makes for a very personable show. The bartender did a good job on the drinks as well. I would definitely return.
Great little spot! My husband found a deal on Groupon and surprised me with this as its out of our norm. I really enjoyed it! The customer service is great, the atmosphere was relaxed, the snacks are good too lol. Well be back for sure.
Nice place and great staff. The Speechless show was awesome. Reached early and found street parking just across the street, and there was no minimum purchase requirement on drinks/food.
Saw Norman and James, they were both super funny! Had the crowd gasping for air between laughs! They did an amazing job! Venue was clean and very well put together.
Host was amazing, handle drunk lady that tried to get on the stage well. Show itself was so good. All the comedians were funny. We will definitely be back.
I usually am pretty picky about comedy shows but I loved this place & had a great time.
I saw the show about single dating stories. Funny overall. The venue had comfortable seats and it’s intimate but big enough so you don’t feel claustrophobic.
The funny maine comedy show was absolutely boring. Less than halfway thru the show, he switched to football, and after that it was just another sports show. Did not pay good money to hear about college football. Not visiting this club again.
They have the best comedians and great drinks.
Awesome little comedy club... Only downside is the open mics are funnier than some of the headliners... Nice drink selection!
Comics were good but I didn’t appreciate ‘Karen’ in the front row interjecting her comedy every two minutes. Pretty upset the staff didn’t pull her aside and ask her to shut up.
Its a nice place, its just so much smaller than I expected. If someone you wanna see is coming to town you had better grab your tickets.
Came here for a comedy act and had a great time. Its really small so the performance can get intimate, but theres more fun in that in my opinion! They also have a refreshment stand with beer, wine and snacks (no hot food).
Went to the Saturday night open mic. Some pretty good acts. Drinks is are decently priced.
Ok magic show, especially for the younger kids. Definitely not something to write home about. Still, good value for the money.
Really fun venue for stand up comics. Went to one show on New Years Eve that was drop dead hilarious, great time and got a good groupon deal. Went a second time a few weeks back for an amateur show which was extremely hit and miss (what do you expect for a free amateur show?) but none the less the venue was still packed. Only gripes with this venue is the overall size, can be a really uncomfortable fit for bigger stand ups coming out, and bathrooms are always packed, and not clean what so ever. Other than that its a great time overall.
I love this place. They have great free shows on the weekend with a huge variety of comedians
Enjoyed the comedy and the intimate setting... Just wish they had more drink options AND had no clue they dont serve food at all. Next time Ill eat before going but will definitely go back.
This is a great place for a reliable good night. Theyve been booking great comics lately, especially women and comics of color. The small theater size is nice, tickets are affordable, & theres decent parking nearby.
An intimate venue. Great for comedy! Highly recommended
I saw my future fake wife here (Rachel Feinstein) and came back to see some local amateur talent that makes me feel like I shouldve paid a lot more. Great show(s), nice intimate setting.I need to add this to my monthly rotation of spots to visit.
Small venue. No food. Just a snack bar. Street parking. Good for talent who trying to build name.
A HIDDEN gem. Love how it is setup and how its run. We will be back
Cute spot. Address is deceiving though. The entrance is not actually on the street of the address. It was a little frustrating trying to find it, but its a nice relaxed setting.
A bit cozy, but the stage is nice and they even have a green room for performers.
Best unisex bathrooms in the city!! Comedy is pretty fire too.
Great comedy show and beer choice!!
The comedian was hilarious and so was the opener. For 20 bucks it was totally worth it. They had a bar outside the theater room with plenty of options. The theeater room is very awkwardly set with half the seats looking at the stage and the other half looking at the stage from a 90 to like 30 degree angle.
We went to see some comedy and this comedian name Mu Cuzzo was funny. He had me in tears. I hope to see him again, I cant get enough.
Small and intimate venue.
This venue was super awesome. The ambience is very chill and the building has an open space loft like setting. The only reason i didnt give them five stars because they dont have any cooked food. Just snacks like Pringle and cookies. They do serve hard liquor, beer and wine.
I went here for an event sponsored by AU veterans for free, and it was very entertaining. Most of the comics were regulars at Drafthouse Comedy. The beer on tap was very good. The whole venue was clean. Would go again.
Very nice place to have a great but chilled time, the comedians that are regulars here are hilarious. Here at this location snacks and drinks(alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are avsilable. Come ready to enjoy.
Came here for my birthday to see shane Torres and he was amazing! The venue was nice and they serve alcohol so double plus! Great comedians!
Great venue. Attended the comedy show which began at 11. They also had snacks, fountain beverages, WINE & SPIRITS. Decent prices. Had a ball.
So, if you want to hear political hatred and racist comedy, this is the place for you. I, though I dont mind some political jokes, dont find routine after routine of people ignorantly slamming one political side very funny. What was ever worse was one comedians 15 minutes of talking about how creepy all white men are. Wow, one or two quips about it would have been fine and maybe even funny. 15 minutes of making fun of one immutable demographic is just mean and racist/sexist.
There was a banging noise all thru the show. Headliner Sam J was terrible. Opening act was very good.
Went to their free show, Attack of the Comics. They had some decent talent and was a good show. Since it is comics trying out some newer material, there was some awkward bits, but they all recovered well and didnt let it mess with their sets.
Okay beer selection and fun atmosphere. Comic was good
Fun time. I will be back!!
Had a great experience. Found street parking right outside venue. Checked in with my name only and didnt have to wait in a long line. Once in the door you can grab a drink and walk right to your (unassigned) seat. It is an alternative venue which is basically a long hall with a low rise stage. All seating is on the same level so a short person in the back may have problems seeing but I or my partner didnt have any problems. The show was great and the venue didnt introduce any unnecessary BS. Two thumbs up.
Great black box theatre with great comedy. Intimate setting. If you want to see some great headliners and some great local talent this is the place for you.
I’ve been twice and enjoyed myself both times. I found tickets to both shows that I’ve attended on Groupon, so the prices are extremely reasonable and the talent is really good. There’s a parking garage across the street and restaurants nearby.
