This comedy club is the real deal, really refreshing that there is still comedy clubs like this. They had a nice variety of acts, I caught the hosting saying that the feature writes jokes for TV! and the headliner Taylor something has work with HBO - pretty cool spot to check out with the talent they have come in and it was a great time with my best friend Jen from school. Everyone was friendly too which was an added bonus. Nice way to spark our trip visiting Washington, DC. It was a perfect night!
Very poor experience here.10 comedians of which 5 were passable. One comic got quite angry with the crowd as we werent finding him funny. He turned on the crowd and said it was our fault for being from DC.The place was freezing. Like absolutely freezing. Wore my coat and hat throughout. Other people wrapped scarves around their legs.No alcoholic drinks were being served. Just tins of coke / 7 up. We were told to go to the bar next door for a drink if we wanted one but we would not be allowed to bring them back to the venue.Would not recommend from my experience.Update - Apparently I have written a false review. Please look through my other reviews and see that this is not what I do.Im from the UK. My daughter bought our tickets on line on advance for my husbands 50th birthday present. I have nothing to gain by this negative review except trying to help future people not waste their money like we did.
Had an amazing time here last weekend, it was just what me and my girlfriends were looking for to sit back with some yummy wine and laugh the night away. The host was very engaging and kept the night going smoothly. Tip, get there a little early because this club has a serious following it appears cause it was packed the night we were there. Look forward to coming back the next time me and my ladies are in need of a good laugh and we will be getting there early. They had multiple talent on the show that had comedy central credit, I was laughing so hard felt like someone was actually tickling me...I dont usually write this long of reviews but I had to share the fun time! Cool venue too, the laughs were so loud it sounded like an amp theater. Good time all around in Washington, DC I would say a must-see! You can tell everyone works very hard to make sure everyone has a nice time which is really refreshing
I was here last weekend, we had a blast. All the comedians were engaging and hilarious! It must have been some special night because Tony Woods dropped in and so did Sean Savoy, I was almost in tears of laughter and so was my husband, cant wait to come back. We arrived around 8:30pm to get seated and we got a few drinks at the bar - the waiter was so nice she said we could get our seats and she would come to us but we felt like hanging out at the bar a bit cause its such a cool bar, cant wait to come back!
Very nice place to start a night not the funniest comedians ever!!! But that can change depending on who’s there for the night! But very pleasant night. ️Nice food too!
Been meaning to leave a review for this place for awhile, I love coming here with my best girlfriend!!! We havent been able to find a better comedy spot yet in DC - the service is great with being seated and the comedy is something special, we always leave giggling and cant wait to plan a time to come back. This last weekend show I think was my favorite, we love getting dressed up and mingling with the comedians, they are so nice and funny. Shout out to this comedian I think named Herricane who was the last comic of the night, I was laughing so hard!!!! Thanks for starting our night off great again!
I was here a few weekends ago with my sister from out of town and it was refreshing, you can tell the comedians are professional by their stage presence and their jokes were clever. I liked the fact that I was seated by a nice young woman I believe her name was Anna, she was very pleasant. Its also very nice that they dont have a drink minimum but the staff was nice when I wanted a drink. Next time I need a laugh, I will be coming back!
Its not that this was bad comedy, its that this simply was not comedy. No attempt was made on the part of the venue or performers to put together a legitimate show. Many jokes were copied material, puns, or simply rambling stories without punchlines or humor.A better description would be: an open mike night, where the venue charges entry.I would feel more remiss leaving such a poor review if it seemed like the venue had made any attempt at putting together a legitimate show; but they didnt. As it was, they put a black spot in what was otherwise a nice night out with out-of-town guests.
Maybe it was the night we went but I can say the performers were very hit or miss. 10-12 in total with some being quite hilarious but the majority felt cringeworthy. Better to save your money and head elsewhere. The real kicker is the venue didn’t have alcohol (possibly a license issue at this time).
There were several comedians and of them only 2 were decent. The building was freezing the entire time as if the heat was not working or not on; we had to keep our coats on the entire time. There was NO ALCOHOL being served as advertised on the website menu, which was a major disappointment. We were told to go to the bar next door for drinks and that the comedy club owner did not advertise the liquor license issue because of the restaurant/bar next door being open ......either way the website advertised a menu that the comedy club didnt offer. The last comedian (Tom) was on stage for about 20 minutes with what appeared to be a video camera....it was very uncomfortable to watch him roll around on the floor, scream, run, and have the hostess disappear instead of move the show along.UPDATED REVIEW: Since I did originally give 2 stars I will now give 1 since Jennifer posted a response that was FALSE! Point blank answer the questions: did you serve alchohol on 1/25/2020? Did you advertise beverages with alcohol on your website on 1/25/2020? Did your last comedian Tom place a camera on the table? Did Tom at any point during his routine get on the floor, run, or scream? Be advised that there were groups of people there that witnessed this spectacle and for you to constantly call people liars or say reviews are false instead of correcting issues is poor business! Lastly, your building was freezing and there are reviewsto that fact before mine!
A bit hit or miss with the talent. Some were great and some bombed. The waitress took our drink order but never brought us drinks. I think the MC was probably the best of them all. For $10 a ticket, it was fine. Id probably give the place another shot - maybe it was an off night.
I was here last weekend, had to write a review because I am still laughing about the jokes. Will be back when I need another laugh. the whole experience was enjoyable. Thanks to Anna who seated us and gave us a great spot, it was a packed night!
Objective factual part of my review:Venue was very cold and was not serving alcoholic drinks (advised to go next door if we wanted one).Subjective part:Acts were mixed from funny and engaging to almost frightening and crossing the boundary from comedy into therapy. Better to have quality over quantity in my opinion, have less acts and a shorter show than a long show with some real duds. Some of the acts need to practice more in free venues before asking people to pay to watch them. Makes it harder for the better acts as they need to win the crowd back.Edit - not wanting harass - providing an opinion and constructive criticism. Dont be so defensive and look to improve.
Found Groupon tickets for the Saturday night comedy show and decided to give it a try. The night was a total flop. The venue was filled over seating capacity. Individuals that couldn’t sit stayed near the bar and were talking loudly through the entire show. There also wasn’t a path to the bathrooms on the other side of the seating so people were constantly cutting in front of you—as well as people just trying to get to the other side to stand due to lack of seating. This could have been less of a problem had they not over filled the seating capacity. 2 stars because I get you can’t control the way the crowd reacts to the comedians. That night seemed to be more miss than hit. One comedian could tell he wasn’t getting anywhere with the crowd and proceeded to throw himself on the ground multiple times. Another comedian you couldn’t understand because he was shouting his jokes(?) at the audience. The host also tried once to quiet people but it didn’t work. We didn’t stay the whole time and have no intentions of returning. Waste of money (even with coupon discounts) and waste of time. Wish I had cross referenced with the more accurate Yelp reviews.
I love the comedy here but I also cant talk highly enough about how great the staff is, they always go above and beyond which is why its me and my husbands favorite spot for some laughs. Good customer service is tough to find at comedy clubs but this place really strives on providing the best of the best, people seem like they enjoy working here. I also like that they really care about providing the best comedic talent. We were so happy to find this comedy club in Washington, DC a few months back.
This place is awesome. Great atmosphere, great food and drinks, reasonable prices and good jokes. Its exactly what your looking for in a regular hangout spot. I highly recommend as a spot to bring first dates or old friends.10/10, will absolutely be drinking there again.
So much fun! We started our night here and we were really happy with the service and the talent for the night. After the show we got to talk to one of our favorite comedians from the night, he was selling CDs and T-Shirts. Great welcoming vibe, hard to find with comedy clubs but this place does it right, I hope it never changes and we look forward to coming back when we are in town again!
Came to see decent comedy. Got asked to leave bc our conversations were more entertaining than the comedians jokes. Go to the improv for real comedy. These comics are worse than open mic night at a local VFW
Pretty much the worst. Bartender didnt know what rye was for an old fashioned. That was a bad first sign. You know the MC isnt supposed to be great to make the comics look good. But oh. My. God. So bad. And the comics are horrible. To be fair, maybe young amateurs that were developing. But, painful to watch.
Went here for date night and it was everything we were hoping for, they have experienced comedians which really makes a difference compared to other places where they just let anyone on, this club seems to really know how to spot talent which as an audience member I greatly appreciate. The waitstaff was efficient with asking us if we wanted anything to drinks or eat I got the pizza which was tasty - added bonus, no drink minimum, rare for comedy clubs - we were here labor day weekend and were lucky to see Chad Ridgely and Maggie Mayfield (a famous voice-over actor who can also play guitar & do comedy!!!) a night to remember for sure!
A great place to see live comedy and music with friends. A lot of good comics with funny material. Great atompshere really good drinks and food. I would definitely recommend this place if you want good laughs and experience the DC nightlife.
Great show had the best time ever.. Funniest Comedians...
I went to this comedy club with my girlfriend for a last minute date idea and it was a great decision. I was surprised how many famous comedians were on the show. I recommend this comedy club to anyone looking for a good time in Washington, DC!
We paid for Dinner and the show, however the liqour license was not active, so we were sent downstairs, only to have no seating, and to be told there was no food downstairs. 80$ for a few Malibu drinks(high call?!)-1 with mosquito in it and back upstairs we went. No place to really eat, we did get food, but a drink wasnt provided with dinner...no biggie we didnt mind paying extra. Although we didnt really get to eat due to no real table space.Now-to the comedy, it was my first comedy show, so I enjoyed most of it. A few comedians I would love to see again for a little longer. The end included a major lighting mishap that blinded us through the last 2 comedians. There needs to be way more organization. As a previous Bar Manager, I know how much attention needs to go into events, this was a cluster. The bathroom-atrocious.That being said- They were nice and made a few unsuccessfulattempts to rectify-hence the 2 stars. A little organization and liqour would have went a long way.Edited to add: The owner is claiming this review is not accurate-as they do with many negative reviews. This is 100% accurate-shame on you for you being dishonest!
Loved itI had a GREAT time...Best night I have had in a LONG time..I will be back SOON...Absolutely AMAZING..Great performance...
First comedy club experience and it was so much fun!!! Surprise date night! We went to the show 1/25/19, get there early because this club has a cult like following and it gets busy in there fast.
This is my go to place for comedy in Washington, DC - love love love! Its so refreshing that each show is always a new experience.
Super cool place that has fun vibes. Would definitely recommend for a chill fun night out!
The worst experience I have ever had I had a date night planned for me and my wife we came from Fredericksburg va and went to dinner and then to the comedy show when we arrived in our limo that we had for the night we had our tickets checked at door and walked up the steps we arrived at 845 pm the lady at top of stairs stated to us that it was full and we could not take a seat we had to stand well we sure was not about to do that she said talk to the general manager and get a refund we waited for general manager as we called to have our limo return to pick us up and no general manager ever showed up no refund for tickets or anything the most unprofessional an organized establishment I have ever seen I would not recommend this to no one I don’t understand why they sell tickets and don’t know how many they are sellingAnd have people show up to not be able to take a seat Jennifer just replied to this and said they would never do this shows who they are I literally have no reason to lie and this may be why they have so many problems because they are always denying their wrong doing
Great atmosphere and great comedy! went for my best girlfriends b-day!
Sometimes awkward, sometimes crickets, sometimes hilarious, but always a good time.
The show was so amazing they did an encore, first time I ever saw one of those at a comedy show but it was awesome. They made sure to make the night extra special which was great cause I was with my dad for his 50th birthday
The comedy and service was 5 stars! Such a fun night out with my girlfriends, will deff be back for some more laughter and good drinks :)
Great experience and fun time. Really enjoyed Tom the comedian/actors time. Up and coming and hilarious.
I had so much fun had great drinks. The Management is awesome.
Great venue, service was good, no complaints. I had a great time and will be returning.
We had a great time! A great place to eat and have a laugh, and we could all use good laugh!
Bought tickets online for guaranteed seats and a gift for $20. Got to the door and everyone was being charged $10. No guaranteed seats for the customers that paid $20. We were told by 1 worker that the free gift was a drink but when we got to the bar, the female bartender told us that was incorrect. Then we hunt down Alex or Alan(not sure of his exact name) to be told it’s a card but we as the customers need to make sure we find him at the end of the night to get it. Soooo the show starts and it was terribleeeeeee. Never got our free gift as Alex was too busy setting up for the club portion after the comedy show. Save your money or go some where else.
Lots of fun at this comedy club in Washington, DC. Happy hour drink deals are great too! Loved the friendly bar staff and Hannah who seated us.
Maybe it’s not their strongest night, but being in the midst of an argument between the comedian and a customer is... awkward.//Follow-up on 12/31/18: Comedy Club DC reached out via email, and as a goodwill they have offered to refund our tickets and free entrance for a future show. And to consider updating the review to a 5-star.Perhaps its my lack of experience in writing reviews, this is the first time a business owner wrote to my personal email address in respond to my review. Not quite sure where the boundaries are on this. (Is this ... okay?)I declined because it was our experience that evening, which may differ for future attendees. And I received what I guess is a, comedic, sarcastic, passive-aggressive response from the business, with the following in quotation:Thank you for getting back to us. We understand that you wanna keep your review but the problem with it is that it is technically incorrect- an audience member was heckling a comedian- you stated that a comedian and audience member were arguing with each other which is far from the truth. An audience member was heckling a comedian, we spoke to the person that was heckling and tried to resolve the issue. Its not fair for audience members to see your review which is a lie. Thanks for supporting live comedy - look up the word heckling if you need to. All we tried to offer you was good customer service but instead you would rather keep your lie review up. Cheers! For future attendees, understand that this rating and review is _our_ personal experience. You should make your own judgement on whether it is a lie. Do some due diligent before attending, such as cross-reference with Yelp if you must, which we failed to do. Your call!
This was a truly horrible experience. Having paid $15/ticket, I can confidently say Id rather have burned the money, as would have the friend who accompanied me.If you read nothing else: the most important thing to know is that one young woman in the audience was repeatedly subjected to sexual harassment, which rose to the level of threats. This was not funny; it was deeply concerning. If thats not enough to desuade you, its also worth noting that none of the rest of the show was funny either. Only two of the dozen or so comics we saw tonight managed to tell even one joke as characterized by both a set-up and a punchline. Not even alcohol could redeem this situation - especially given that the options on offer were limited and overpriced (even for a place that clearly makes its money on the drinks).I cannot recommend highly enough that you do something - anything - else with your time and money.
A nice comedy club. And a great place to discover new talent.
Lmao! Cant wait to come back! Almost peed my pants! Thanks for a great night of non stop laughter!
As a comic that has performed here twice, I can say the ROOM has lots of potential. However the guy running it Tom Mango (with a Gumby outfit) is dibilitatingly horrid. Hes apparently charging $10 cover and keeping all the money... there is no payment of talent or free/discounted drinks (even water costs comics $3). Last show he hired a camera man to film, but only HIS terrible set. Not even stills for us. Yet he asks us to let him leave good Google reviews on our phones. Its probably because the SINGLE mens toilet was backed up before the show even started, and remained that way the entire show. At one point a comic with a reputation for being creepy towards women shows up and starts doing creepy things to female comedians and the producer/host did NOTHINg to address it... Did I mention, he wears a Gumby suit and dosent pay anyone?!
If you are looking for a fun time with friends and a place to see great comedy, this is the place youre going to want to check out. Highly recommend!
Great show! I went with my husband on our anniversary and the comics were hilarious. Check it out!
Buyer beware. This menu isnt real. There are no nachos or snack foods. The menu is ethnic stews and spaghetti. Super annoying because there is a picture and menu here. The waitress just keeps walking away while we are trying to ask questions. I dont really want to try to eat a lamb stew while watching a comedy show in a tight dark space. WTHPost Script- a nice guy tried to make it up to me, when he saw this so I added one star. But I dont want to. He was nice.
The comedy was 5 stars and so was the service! I will be back and I look forward to it. Just the laugh I was looking for after a long work week!
I was visiting from Philadelphia and my best friend surprised me with tickets, we had so much fun!
Started my bachelor party here Decided to leave a review because I am still laughing about the jokes - my whole party was almost crying we were laughing so hard! I have been to comedy clubs all over the world, thanks comedy club dc!
Just randomly walked in with a friend. Definitely worth watching! These guys are hilarious.
Tony Woods dropped in one night and I was laughing for weeks - I remember seeing his special on Comedy Central! Lucky night!!!
This place is very spacious and it was a ton of fun! I couldnt stop laughing!
So much fun! I was visiting from Boston!
Small place with good vibes. The comedy night is must stop for night on the Adams Morgan strip.
Hilarious comics and a very fun atmosphere! Ill be back.
Great comedy shows including me! (Shameless plug!)
Had a great time tonight 7/6/2018 lots of laughs and fun with the comedians. Keep it going.
This is SuperHeroDude from Copenhagen, been to a lot of shows and let me tell you, what is going on with this club, 5 stars
Great Place! Great Vibes, and great music!
Best birthday present ever!
One of a kind comedy show!
1 Star for removing my post and giving Kai Wang a hard time. Shame on you
By far my favorite comedy club in Washington, DC!
Rad spot. Nice and spacious!
Good local comedy, good drinks!
Went to a show there on Saturday night...paid $10 a seat.
The comedy club was DOPE!!!! So Funny
