This is a fun place to explore if you dont mind getting wet, muddy, or (potentially) lost. It claims to be a state park, but is really more state land. Theres no maintenance to the area, so please pack out your garbage, its gross. Also, trails are where you put them. The Little River runs through the middle of the area so to cross from one side to the other youll have to get wet, or hope for a fallen tree. Also, there is poison ivy everywhere so be prepared with long pants and close toed shoes. If you can look past all that, its a beautiful park and lots of fun to explore. Just please remember your mom doesnt live there, clean up after yourself. ️
This is a really cool place to bring the kids. Wear some water shoes and wade thru the river. There are lots of little pools with small fish that my 4 year old loved. There are lots of shady spots to have a picnic. We will be back for sure.
Beautiful open space, great place for kids. The parking was a bit tricky as the gravel has sunken in a bit in parts and it’s possible to get stuck if not in a suv of sorts. We parked on grass and were fine with my car. There are little trails all around the water and surface rocks that allow you to navigate better. It’s a bit overgrown, but easy enough to get around. Such a fun peaceful place to spend a few hours.
Very pretty when the river is flowing. Will make sure to take pictures next time
A very beautiful place. Bring a fishing pole . Enjoy.
Very clean and interesting. Standing on these beautiful flat rocks allows to you to feel like you are one with nature. I wish there was better signage to alert that you have arrived and where to park.
Very relaxing and nice place to enjoy nature, if you dont mind walking a tiny trail through the woods.....
Such a beautiful, natural gem. We shot our engagement photos here and could not get over the unique rock formations. It is a great spot for exploring without traveling too far out of Raleigh.
Great place to bring pet. Not to much water. MUST watch out for glass.
Remote, parking lot is sketchy, trails are not marked, very few people lots of litter and broken glass, seems like local kids use it for a party spot
Love this area. Beware of copperheads.
Very interesting ecology and geology
The place was great. But, there isnt a parking lot, so you have to park of to the side
Beautiful area. Looks like a good place to fish and walk trails. Trails could use a little upkeep but not terrible.
Love this new discovery! Will be going back to sit by the water. Absolutely beautiful!
We had a blast!
Beautiful place. Really fun to explore. Keep an eye out for the wild life though and watch your footing. Falls are easy and I have seen copperheads around here.
Hard place to find! Definitely not where it says through Google maps. Got lucky and passed a pull off area Zebulon Road. Its very pretty though. Enjoyed exploring
Beautiful area. one huge rock it was a nice walk.
Very nice place to explore and to enjoy with the family, cant wait for spring to see its beauty bloom, its was our first time visiting in the fall but we still enjoyed our walk with our kids and pups.
Its unfortunate the state has not (been able to?) allocate funds to improve this land - even if its just to cut some hiking trails and put a trash can at the entrance. The history is rich and fascinating - the amount of exposed granite is impressive. We enjoyed the exploration but only because it was winter and the foliage is wilted. Trails are faint but negotiable, probably not passable in the peak of spring/summer - just wish it was maintained.
Very cool. Will be back.
Such a beautiful place! I can’t wait to come back again in the warmer weather!
This place is breathtaking a photograph dream place.
Nice area, not too crowded, lots of boulders and waterfalls.
Love going here but beware, there are SNAKES. Both venomous and non. Watch your pets and watch your kids!
Nice area for short nature hike. Trails can get slippery or covered with water after heavy rains. Nice quiet place to take kids or pets as it is rarely crowded. Open from dusk to dawn I believe so hours vary by time of year.
I have always loved this place
Very secluded, but close by, cool flat rocks and the dam, definitely worth checking it out.
Great place to go and take a walk, come closer to nature, or maybe bring a date to watch the sunset while listening to the trickling of the water. Or just go and chill with friends.
Great place to spend day w/family
Some signs you could see would be nice but it was beautiful
Great place to chill or take the dogs, definitely worth a stop by.
Beautiful park, LARGEST flat rock in N.C..Please bring a bag and take your trash with you!Water shoes recommended and a old bathing suit for playing in the water
