Very nice out there and I didnt even make it to the actual arboretum area. Theres lots of nice open spaces on the old golf course.

Recent infrastructure improvements are making a big difference. New entrance signage and new chairs and seating in the pavilion are a great upgrade. Trails need better signage and could be linked to longer walls they the old golf course.Beautiful Magnolias

An absolute gem. This is once of the best places to run in Tuscaloosa. Plenty of well manicured trails and pavement. Some fairly aggressive hills help add a level of difficulty to your runs. There is always plenty of parking. Plus there are public restrooms and a water fountain.

Beautiful hiking trails, some of which lead to some enchanting areas, like; A cute little treehouse lookout, a small forest amphitheatre, and one trail ends in a wide-open field with a beautiful garden area, (which, has a pretty sundial centerpiece exhibit). University of Alabama Arboretum is also free for the public to visit, All YearRound! And, that means, that you can make it an everyday, scenic nature escape... Even when youre completely broke, lol.

Cool area on the edge of town and great place for walking a dog and going running. Unfortunately, not as well maintained as it should be and lots of trash around the ponds.

My family and I went in April 2018. This was our first time going. You can park in the black top parking lot or go down the gravel dirt road to get the the Aboretum. We chose to park in the parking lot as the gravel road is small. When we got there everyone that worked there was very sweet and helped us find our way. There are maps of the trails available close to the “main” pavilion. The 6 and 10 year olds favorite thing was the tree top platform. We loved every minute of being out there.

The UA Arboretum is an excellent to run, walk, bring a dog, or just enjoy the flora. There are countless single file trails for those who like a more scenic or interesting trail run/walk, as well as more open, paved trails on what used to be a golf course. There is also access to a lake for swimming in the warmer months, however no fishing is allowed.
