Had a great time here. Lots of activities for the children, and as an adult I enjoyed the old school exhibits. They have an old school dress-up bedroom, classroom, pharmacy, etc.... definitely took me back to my childhood.....My children did several art activities, the have sensory activities, play are downstairs, and much much more....
Super fun!!! Housed in an existing building, whoever designed this childrens space had brilliant vision. Each space is artfully crafted to engage and withstand children. The entry-level floor has a lovely series of historic buildings on kid scale. The basement level is packed with beautiful, colorful exhibits that grab the attention of kids and their grownups!! We spent three and a half hours here and the kids didnt want to leave!
My kids love CHOM. My husband grew up going here, and it’s so fun to watch my kiddos love it too. We always have a blast, and the staff is super sweet with the kiddos. Some Saturdays they have art which my daughter loves!
Awesome place for children! The staff was amazing and so helpful!!
What a great time. We were in Tuscaloosa for my wifes doctor appointment. To kill some time I took our 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter. They had a blast. Plenty of things to tough, turn, push, pull, and explore for a few hours of fun. The place is very well kept and the staff was nice. I recommend this place e to anyone looking for a fun and educational place to take your kids.
A fun place to let your children run off steam. We loved the elevator! It was clear the staff adore their job. Thanks.
Me & my family enjoyed ourselves
Had a great time. We went for New Years Eve and they had an early celebration for the kids. Didnt realize they had a whole other childrens section on the basement floor so that was a nice suprise. Had a miniature DCH area that was pretty cool. Overall it was a nice time with the kids.
My 1st &2nd grade students went on their field trip. They always love it. From dressing up in Grandmas attic. To playing on the Wii machine downstairs. Making the barge come alive and being doctors in the hospital. They loved it all.
Fun to go to before the game to let our son run around and get out some energy. They always have fun activities going on.
Theres plenty to do here. Lots of hands on activities themed towards current events (at the time of our visit, ground hog day). Exhibits for kids of all ages and interests. The welcome staff is VERY friendly and informative. The rest of the staff is present and available. The gift shop was even decently priced. This was our first visit and well be back.
Good childrens museum, a lot for them to do. Best for 7 & under I would say. Loved the hospital area, best part in my opinion.
Amazing
The workers here are fabulous. They went out of their way to play with my children. They were very friendly and educated us in every exhibit. The art was fun specially when the workers are so great with the kids and educated them during the art.
Always a fun place to be.... The kids are enjoying it a lot
My grandkids love it there they would go every day if they could lol
Great place for the kids to learn, play, and explore! I’m only giving 4 stars because I wish they would rotate exhibits in/out to keep things fresh so it isn’t always the same. They make up with this by their weekend events, but my son is always too young to participate in their activities, so it doesn’t really help him/us.
Its ok, I guess. It has had the same exhibits since I was a child. My kids dont seem to mind but you can see the age. If it were cheaper, it might be worth it. Its a little too expensive considering its been the same exhibits and toys for 30 plus years.
Great for a 6 year old birthday party. Really wish they would allow outside food, other than cake, for the party. The kids had a great time!
Great place to take your kids. I volunteer thee and it is a great atmosphere and I can tell you that all of the staff cares. It really is a great environment.
Good for ages 7 and under but not older kids, despite what the website says. Cute exhibits for that age group, though.
Excellent staff and a great place to spend hours!!
Great place for kids to play and learn. Check out the downstairs for the little ones.
We have found something new to explore every time we come. The space is arranged so children are encouraged to explore different section. The staff if friendly and great at helping keep toddlers with their parents. The year membership is a great deal.
Great place for kids 12 and under especially if they have great imaginations...$9 per person but its for all day and they offer lunches passes. There is a lot to see and touch as the name says.
My son loves this place.
SAD THAT THEY CHARGE FOR A 1YR OLD.MOST PLACES DONT START CHARGING UNTIL A CHILD IS 2 OR EVEN 3.WAY TO PRICEY FOR THE AVERAGE FAMILY WHO VISITS TUSCALOOSA WITH 3 SMALL CHILDREN.
Grandchildren 5 and 10 yrs old loved it here. We did 2 floors of all hands on music, history, science, life, commercial, food, medical etc. We stayed there several hours. The role playing was fantastic and imaginative and we were impressed with the knowledge the girls had and learned about. They have classes on different things. Check the website. A few of the young workers were good helping kids learn about their sections.
They have lots of activities for kids. Very friendly staff.
I would have given this place 0 stars if possible.Talk about an unfriendly establishment. Showed up with a voucher for free admission through the Smithsonian. No where was it noted that it had to be printed, and the rude woman at the desk wouldnt accept our voucher on our phones. Instead, she pointed to a hand written sign on their counter. We left and drove back the hour home. What year is it there, 1999?Wont be going back to this museum.
Very exciting for the kids! This gives them the opportunity for their imagination to run free along with educating them!
This place was so much fun for my kids. They loved all the different things that they had to do and how different every area was. Would be an amazing rainy day activity.
We had a great time at the Halloween party! The booths were fun and easy for a wide variety of age groups. The staff and volunteers were super friendly even after getting mobbed by a thousand visitors. They had prizes at all the booths and kind words for my son even when he missed the ring toss or some other event. They had fun with us which made the time there even better. We cant wait to go next year too.
Kids loved it. They didnt want to leave.
My 3 1/2 old daughter loves it. Staff can be dull but this place always puts a smile on my child.
The Childrens Hands On Museum contains many exhibits and activities to entertain children. My son is 8 and there are plenty of things to do. He especially enjoyed the DCH clinic exhibit and the exhibit with the flying plastic balls inside a closet. He didnt want to leave even at closing time.
The Gross-olgy was slime in a Tiny cup. Not enough umph for advertising onlineOtherwise, a great place!
I remember going here when I was little. The whole place was just fantastic. Still have a picture from 20yrs ago in the boat.
Great for younger kids. Lots of hands on activities and cute crafts.
The kids had a blast
I think kids 4 or 5 and up would oss cry the most benefit. My two year old would have enjoyed a lot more of it off she couldve reached things. There is a section for 3 and unders, but my toddler wasnt very impressed with it. Also, the fact that so many exhibits had audio on a loop was a bit over stimulating even for me.
KIDS ENJOYED, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE MORE FOR YOUNGER KIDS, MAYBE 7 AND UNDER.
We love this place! My kids are ages 7, 6, and 2 and can spend hours at the museum. We especially love all of the special event days they have.
Appropriately named. Its VERY hands on for the kiddos. Our two granddaughters (ages 11 and 6) had a blast. So much to do, and the young men and young ladies who work there spent time making sure the kids learned something while having fun. Highly recommend!!!!
Good activities for my toddler and he enjoys touching the objects!
My children always have a blast here. They do really fun special events for holidays. It is better for the young ones, older kids might be a little bored.
Great place for kids to play and explore.
Its an awesome place for kids to go!!
Our 3 year old loves it here. She runs from display to display as long as were there. A single admission is expensive, $9 per. But a family membership with two babysitter slots is only $100 or so for a whole year.It would be nice if they were open until 6 pm instead of 5 for quick trips after work.
Maybe a little old and dated (I went when I was a child 20 years ago and not too much has changed) but they still have lots of fun activities for kids. Its good to go a couple of times a year especially for the themed Saturday events.
Grandchildren had a great time. Highly recommended
I paid how much for what?! For how much money this place is taking in youd figure more of their exhibits wouldnt be run down and broken.
Amazing fun for little kids, took my 6 year old here and she didnt wanna leave.
We LOVE CHOM. Go for my daughters birthday every year.
The kids didnt want to leave, I found myself playing at some of the exhibits.
Awesome peace for kids
Great place for small/young kids !!! ... Its a little retro tho.
Amazing staff! Really friendly and welcoming.Very entertaining for children, specially on rainy days!
We liked this museum: it is small but clean and with a lot of stuff to touch and play with. Our 3y.o. was happy!
Lots of stuff to keep your child busy. My 4 year old daughter loved it.
My daughter loves to go! The exhibits are so fun.
Although my daughter enjoyed herself it was not worth the drive from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa.
Fun lots to do
Small museum, but packs a lot of stuff, organized well.
Kids had a blast. Spent 4hours here. Staff was very friendly and engaging.
Lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. Worth the drive and ticket cost.
Kids had a blast
This turned out to be a great place to take our 3 year old at the end of a road trip. She enjoyed fishing and sorting microbes.
So much fun even for adults! Great staff. Really fun to volunteer here too. Kids love this place.
Good Childrens Museum. Excellent cleanliness. Excellent and helpful staff!
Small but enjoyable for my 4 year old.
Had my 5 years old sons birthday party @ CHOM- It was the best! Everyone went above and beyond to make it a great day!! THANKS CHOM!
Pretty cool place to entertain small children
Came here all the time as a kid
Great place to take the kids and let them run off some energy.
Great place to let kids run wild
Great place for family and classroom field trip!
Great place to expend kids energy.
Nice place especially for young children
The kids love the place, a lot to keep them occupied.
There is alot of improvement to do..old building and not so attractive to kids. Also, the cost you pay is high compared to other museums that charge less and only charge kids not adults.
Very nice place, lots of learning
Had a blast w my son! He didnt want to leave!
Fun
My son loved this place!
A fun place for kids and adults
Great for kids
Loved it
My kids love this place
Great for kids, pre-teen
Great for kids.
