What a wonderful place to enjoy the day with your family. If it were not for covid-19 we would be there today. The next time you have the chance to visit Arizona, this is one of the best and oldest water parks to visit. You will not be dissatisfied.

Okay so Big Surf has enjoyed the luxury of not having much competition in the valley, which means they never really had to do much renovations to the property. The place looks virtually the same as it did in the 90’s. For that reason it is a three star water park. You can still have fun at the park, just could do a bit better. Slippery areas, also hot on the feet of you or your kids are barefoot in several areas of the park.

Had a great day. Food prices were good, not outrageous, think movie theater, not Disney. Loved the slides, a good mix. Lots of areas for all ages. A wade ares with slides for the little ones, another kids pool, slides for beginners to the adventurous. The wave pool was great, my son says its better and bigger than Wet n Wild. We will definitely go back.

Located on the boundary of South Scottsdale and Tempe, this water park is for all youth ages. Has a huge wave pool as well as smaller water pads and rides for younger kids. There is enough shade and lounge chairs if you get there at a reasonable time in the morning. Food selections are typical of this type of venue. They are sticklers for drinks from outside the park and will inspect your bag upon entry. You can bring a large cooler and leave it in your car and then exit and have a little lunch picnic for a much cheaper option. You may reenter the park with no problem. Highly recommend.

Big surf is really a fun place to enjoy the day! The waves are AWESOME and the slides are pretty good, but the one thing Big Surf needs is some repairs being done. Some of the slides are closed because they are dangerous. This should be fixed. Other than that the park is super fun and I would recommend to all ages. Although the water could use some replacing.

They have a SERIOUS bee problem, and my niece was stung on the shoulder as a result. There were dead bees in the wave pool, a myriad of bees buzzing around the grassy areas, and a few even made their way up to the top of the waterslides, which is where my niece was stung.First Aid did what they could: monitor her vitals, apply anti-itch cream, and keep an eye on her to see if she broke out in hives or stopped breathing. Turns out my niece is not deathly allergic, which means no one had to deal with anaphylactic shock (which I was informed they are NOT equipped to deal with, as there are no epi-pens of any kind on site), but her luck ran out when we discovered shes EXTREMELY sensitive to bee venom. Like stratospherically, absurdly sensitive. The pain was excruciating and lasted for hours. It radiated down her arm and across her chest. It caused several panic attacks. Tylenol and Ibuprofen couldnt touch it. She was in tears the whole way home. All because Big Surf is infested with bees, from the bottom of the wave pool all the way up to the top of the slides. We wont be returning, and I would caution ANYONE with a known bee allergy to stay far, far away.

Outstanding place to take kids 7 years and below. Plenty of space, usually not crowded. But summer pass and two admissions will have equaled the cost of the summer pass. Traditional admission is $35 and Military is $20z Lockers about $8-12. The only issue is there’s no lazy river and the wave pool only creates one wave per ten minutes. Would like to see more continuous waves.

Great place to relax and let the kids play. Food is not overly expensive. I ordered a large pizza and drinks for five and it was enough for all of us for under 25. The only problem is there isnt enough shade for the number of people they let in the park. Get there early or wait for someone to leave are your only options. The kids always love going. Their was one police officer on duty walking around, which I thought was great. I wasnt worried about someone taking our stuff from our seats while we were playing. They have lockers, changing rooms and plenty of restrooms.

This is descent park to spend 2 to 3 hours though day option doesnt have enough rides to keep you busy. Rides are monotonous here. They can be more of water sprinklers/games for kids to keep them busy. This is just relative comparison between other water parks I have been to. However wave-pool is a big attraction and most of the crowd enjoyed to ride on waves. We end uo spending most of time just dipping in various pools.

Buy the season pass if you plan on coming more than once. Im not about the wave pool, but mainly just come here for my two year old to walk around in the water. Nice toddler area and baby slides. Theres water buckets and water cannons. A nice shaded water bench in two feet of water for parents with kids. The older kids love the wave pool and renting rafts. All the slides are fun and the lifeguards do a decent job at enforcing rules and keeping the peace. The food and drink, of course, are outrageous. This water park is a great family experience. The food was not too bad and not expensive. The wave pool is huge and my kids loved the slides. The only problem we had is they need to add more lawn chairs. We went on a very slow day and it was so difficult to find even a couple. We got discount tickets through Groupon and arrived when the park opened. Luckily we found a covered spot, very limited. My first impression was older park, but maintained. We spent most of our time in the wave pool and tried 1 slide. There could be better signs. Our child went to the kid area and was turned away from the open colored slides because he as too tall. The park offers a little kid area restricting height, not the area he tried to use. We were disappointed. Also, we went to ride a double tube slide and when we got to the top of the ride found out the slide we wanted was single tube only. The wave pool sends 1 wave every 3.5 minutes and the boogie boards get the wave pool for 30 minutes a couple times during the day. It got very busy as the day went on. We had a good time, but will try a different place next time.

We brought our small private school to Big Surf today. Joe Shannon, the manager, took such good care of our group of 14. When we arrived, we had a space directly in front of the wave pool, with plenty of chairs and shade. He also provided us with a cooler full of water and gatorades. He ushered our group through the crowd which eliminated the long lines He ensured our students and team members had a great time, which we did! I like big surf. This place has the one and only real wave pool, that simulates the ocean. Its not choppy waves that rock you back and forth. The wave gets pulled up from the bottom, and actually creates an ocean like wave, all the way to the shore. Once you learn where to put your raft to surf to shore, its a blast.Downside..... there doesnt seem to be enough lifeguards that watch the wave pool . It can be overly crowded. Its hard to control your raft when youre in the wave, so you end up rafting on top of someone else. Or someone else rides on top of you. Thats fine and fun, but its also a easy way that people get hurt and kicked in the head and whatnot. You have to watch out and take precaution for yourself. The foods pretty decent for a snack bar

I wanted to love this place...I took my 6 year old son for this first time. It was OKAY, but there were definitely some safety issues and there is a lot of renovations that need to be made. There were two times our raft got caught (double raft) in a slide and almost turned around in an enclosed slide, and another park patron’s actually did. Then on the white slide, the tube felt too big and was dragging along the sides at times and my feet kept hitting the sides, so naturally I brought my feet in, but I also almost hit my head...I really didn’t feel safe on that one. The slides and towers were super rusted. Everything else was fine, and despite everything we had a great time!

Its dated for sure but it was still a ton of fun!!! Spent the day in the wave pool but there are some very fun slides that I did also. Some people say the water is too warm, swim to the deeper end for cooler water. Extras can be pretty expensive so just take your need to haves and lock up your valuables in the trunk as lockers are $7-$10 per day (all day). If youve a family and need a place to put your stuff it would be worth it I suppose. Didnt buy any extras but rafts for the wave pool are $7. Totally worth it. If youre not going rent a raft youre wasting your time and money. The slides have their own tubes. They have lots of palapas for shade. If you cant find one in the front, there are plenty near the slides (makes it a little more private as well). Its been 40 years since I was there the last time but I still had a blast. Oh, look for coupons at Costco or other places. 55+ only $15. Have fun!!!

Big Surf is amazing and one of my favorite places to go in the summer! It has a HUGE wave pool (I heard its one of the largest in the world). The waves in it are pretty big, amazing for anyone who likes a good thrill! If youre able to rent a raft, or someone gives you one after theyre done (if youre lucky!), then it makes the experience extra fun. It also has some of the most fun water slides Ive ridden on, and a couple calm pool areas where you can sit if the wave pool isnt open (or if its Boogie Board time for those who rent or bring their own boogie boards), or just if you want somewhere to relax in the waters. Of course, they also have a great splash pad and some slides for your little ones. The staff here are really nice too! Definitely bringing my future kids here.

Now safety is very important, but that meant hundreds of people had no sun protection for a concert from 12pm-9pm in 100° weather. The park also seemed quite run down, as well as the entrance to the wave pool being incredibly slippery - all day people were slipping and landing on the concrete. Is a nice park but needs some love.

Also, maybe a few more rides? After like 20 minutes you have ridden most rides. Also, most lockers seemed damaged or useless altogether. Two friends sharing a locker had to change lockers multiple times. Other than that and some other minor stuff, food was ok, salt on the pretzel was overdone and salt didnt taste good.
