I’ve tried to go to this park three times in the last week to kayak and I’ve been met each time with stipulation. You have to be a USF student or Alumni to enter(I am but my significant other isn’t). Kayaks are only available for rental Friday Saturday and Sunday. They open at 12 and they stop doing kayak rentals at 3:30, as I was told by the person working. I love kayaking and was excited about this opportunity, but now I have no use for the kayaking part of this park due to its limitations.
Its a tiny park for use by the university community, & the hours are short, but its absolutely lovely & the staff are always friendly & helpful. Great for picnics, short boating trips, & bringing outdoor games to play.
If you want to do something different like kayaking, enjoy obstacle course, paddleboard, this is the place to go
I go here for the disc golf course. Its a nicely maintained course that has many holes that move basket positions. The course has a fairly easy to moderate difficulty. The front nine is a bit easier and open while the difficulty goes up a bit in the back nine due to it being in the forest with lots of trees. You can lose discs in the back fairly easily if you dont pay attention to where they land or dont have a spotter. The park is part of the college and therefore you can have people walking around or events going on.
Amazing place for some peace and quiet during the weekends
Good place for large get together. At the end of fall, you may find little bit fall colors, mostly yellow leaves
Great for throwing discs, Im sure the canoe program is fun to.
This park is beautiful. The disc golf course here is incredibly fun. The front nine are out in the open with a few trees to get past. Not incredibly long or difficult. This is definitely a beginner-intermediate course. The back nine are far more difficult as there is a lot more places to lose your disc. Be careful wasting through the longer great as there are quite a few black snakes. Also, there is an alligator that visits hole 1 and 4 often. The back nine are optional and I would recommend that beginner players play the front nine only to avoid losing your discs. Play it twice for 18 if you want. Keep your eyes open and your discs on the fairway!
Great for students and alum you can rent kayaks canoes and paddle boards. Just wish they were open for rentals on weekdays.
The bathroom needs to be maintained well. I like this place because it is the nearest from USF for kayak and also organize picnic, family gathering. There is a parking lot structure and it is free. You can do zip lock here - normally they offer group discount and for USF students.
The people that work there are not what I would call customer service friendly. While we were on our kayak we were laughing at the fact that they were so rude. But otherwise everything was great!
This place has a lot of amenities involving kayaking, zip lining, outdoor activities, etc. Beautiful park to try some outdoor fun.
It’s a good and quit place to enjoy the river and kayaking and canoeing
Large open area for plenty of activities! Staff is also accommodating last time I went to go kayaking. Check out USF’s recreation page for monthly activities and events! I learned about moonlight kayaking through there
5/5 My girl flipped her Kayak, amazing memory, wont forget
An excellent place for kayaking and canoeing. We could not go too far, but the scenes were fantastic and breathtaking. Free admission for USF student and staff. Twice a year, the kayaking and canoeing are free: First 50 Days of Summer in July and Glow in the Park on Halloween night. Otherwise, in every academic semester, there were usually three to four nights that the Outdoor Recreation hosts Moonlight Canoeing for USF students who may purchase the tickets for $5 per person with single boats, 2-person boats, or 3-person boats available, but it was difficult seeing anything. Sometimes, the alligators are easy to spot as they lay down to rest by the bank.
Awesome challenge course and facilitators Good and quiet place to study, if you love to study in the open. You can also kayak on the Hillsborough river.
High ropes course, frisbee games, kickball field, volleyball court, open space.
USFs Riverfront Park is located across the Hillsborough River from Lettuce Lake Park and therefore shares the same basic water features as the county park. Canoe rental is available and one can experience an extremely beautiful waterway for minimal effort. I would almost consider this stretch of waterway more or less pristine except for man made observation towers and wooden walkways. One can canoe in narrow passages providing excellent views of this watershed providing ample opportunity to experience a wide variety of both flora and fauna. I would definitely recommend a visit to this park.
Very pretty place to go kayaking or play in the grass. People are always there playing disk golf
Riverfront is USFs best kept secret. Its a quiet piece of property on Fletcher avenue that occupies a spot on the Hillsborough river. Its got frisbee golf, ropes course (group reservation required), and kayaking/canoeing.
One of the best local par 3 disc golf courses around. Well maintained
Awesome place if you love kayaking and canoeing...
I usually go there for kayaking. Good place to be if you like outdoors.
Cheap kayaking for students! It’s beautiful, just beware alligators.
Kayaking on the river was very fun. Interesting wildlife, saw some Gators.
The height challenge is a must try.
Best access to the Greater upper Hillsborough. I have been on several solo journeys here as an alumni wildcrafting. I plan on camping up the River, with a paddle, as I did as an undergrad at USF. I have found from here anything from food, to feathers, to skulls to shells. I love it is good to relax and play in the park
Great park with lots of trails to walk
Very nice and relaxing place.
Great disc golf course!
Nice place to relax
Restricted to USF students and employees, I guess.
The park is very beautiful! I really enjoy getting out on the water and seeing all the wild life; and maybe wrastlin a gator. (which are out but never close)
Its a beautiful park on the hillsborough river. They gave picnic tables and pavilions.
Nice quiet place to go and study
Super cheap if ur a USF student, but not open on most weekdays
Beautiful riverfront park thats only open to USF students and staff, I can rent a canoe for a couple hours and for only $5. If you have a USF ID, I would definitely give this place a shot!
Great disc golf park!
It wasnt amazing but it wasnt horrible. I personally did not enjoy. The park is not as green as Id hoped. Very patchy landscaping. The volleyball is littered with dead plant matter. The river is very wide and calm for kayaking, but very dirty too. Its not the ideal place for a date as I would prefer clearer waters and a more radiant park. There was also little to do there unless you bring your own equipment.
Perfect place for kayaking!! A lot of nature, good work out, very peaceful.
Very fun place to have fun with the family
Most of the time, its great! Super cheap to go Canoeing/Kayaking if youre a USF student ($5 for a rental) and the river is beautiful! I had one bad experience with one of the staff where he was very pushy and rude, but otherwise its usually a great time.
Cheap Canoes for USF students. And the rivers was great!!
Shady paths. Boardwalk wonderful views of gators, turtles, and birds.
Lots of shade covered picnic areas
Cause it was raining and I couldnt go on the zip line
Love coming her to kayak
Calm, great place for a picnic or to study
Great disc golf course. Good equipment, well maintained, and multiple pin positions on many holes.
Beautiful place
A peaceful place. Thank you
Good place to waste time with friends and family
Very peaceful and serene.
Great place to take the kids or to go on a date. Feels like being in the country. Beware of gators and cotton mouths
Nice disc golf course. Dog friendly!
Stupid that you can only pay with credit card. Dangerous alligators beware! I would not bring my dog. Or play frisbee. Since there are gators lying within 15 ft of the frisbee goals sometimes. I would give 3.5 stars, but that rounds up to 4. So have 4 stars....USF
Excellent grounds and staff.
I have been trying to get in touch for weeks with this office to see about booking a reservation/find out information to plan an event. The phone just rings no matter what hour of the day I call and there is not even a way to leave a message. If you try clicking on website, it takes you to USFs website and it is so confusing from that point trying to identify how to access/do anything.
Lots to do and plenty of space for social gatherings. Make sure you bring cash to park.
Great park but they locked me in before 7 pm. I had to call campus police to get me out.
Great Place to Relax, Canoe and Disc Golf.
Love it. Nice place
Great service, this Tilly guy is really helpful and the Kayaks are great value for money!
This is a nice place for USF students to go for canoeing or kayaking. For USF students the canoes are $10 for 2 hours.
