Got a warm Feb day. Perfect- no bugs for us. Got a little muddy.
Great trails and attractions. Can easily do all trails in a single morning.
Love This Place...So Nice for a quick beautiful stroll in the Forest!
You you love nature, this a the place to go. They have many trails that you can hike. Also they are pet friendly as long as they are leased. They sponsor Art in the Park in the fall. Always a good turn out of different types of painters and craft makers. Two of my favorite to watch are the potters and flint knappers.
This time we visited, I work there cutting trees. I have taken my kids there before, they loved it. For people who like nature they got a nice nature trail, they got little classes inside, they got reptile exhibit, they got Birds of Prey exhibit. I personally like to check out the poisonous snakes. The kids really like the trail, and the birds of prey. I think at certain times a year they also have a butterfly Garden. Check it out its a fun place to take your family. Im pretty sure they have places to eat a picnic lunch and stuff like that too.
We always enjoy our visits here. This place is perfect for young children. Weve been to storytimes, walks in the woods, and their owl night. We love it.
This nature park is wonderful. The programs they put on are very educational and promote a great message in a world where awareness about nature and the environment is diminishing.
Awesome trails and I feel in love with the deer! My granddaughter loved it too and wants to go back soon!
Great trails! You can do all of them in a day. Fun nature center. Many special events.
Attended the Winter tree ID class. The instructions were Great. Very helpful and educational.
Had a nice hike and saw some lizards.
Very educational. Im always looking for low price or free places to take the grandkids that are fun and educational and this is one of their favorites.
This place was pretty cool. We stopped here to let our kids stretch their legs on a long trip. There were plenty of cool animal exhibits and learning opportunities about the wildlife. There were several little walking trails clearly marked so not to get lost.
A very nice nature park to visit. Inside are exhibits that are interactive, plus they have people that will explain exhibits, and give short talks. Outside are a few caged animals that have been given to the park because of illness or physical damage. They have many trails for the kids to walk on. Great for photographing. Excellent place for a picnic. Bathrooms available. No food or drinks available. There is not a fee that I am aware of. There are no rides or theater. A great place for a walk in the fall. The space in the building itself is crowded with exhibits so I think a wheelchair would be unable to maneuver. Schools from all over the parish have field trips here. I would make sure that a school(s) is not booked the day I went because I feel you would be shortchanged. The paths are stroller accessible and very well kept. Be sure and dress comfortably and not in anything you might not want to get dirty as kids normally sit on the ground when outside.
Great place for an outdoor outing. Several programs for the kids.
This was a great time! We watched a slide show then went foraging for mushroomsVery educational and enjoyable*****
Visited for owl night and had a great time. It was well organized, informative, a great atmosphere for families and free! Well taken care of trails and a cool lodge with a lot to look at (including a baby gator). Definitely recommend.
Love this place. No excuse not to go. Just go.
Fantastic set of trails
Great trails and a neat interpretive center. A hidden gem worth the drive.
Awesome and educational. Really great for my 5 year old son. We had a blast!
I grew up coming to this place. I visited now 25 years later and it lived up to all of my memories. Take a break from the city and learn about the incredible biology of the woods around northwest Louisiana!
It was full of mosquitoes smarming you. We could not walk the trails. Had to leave but the nature center had some awesome reptiles and animals in it to view.
Beautifully kept trails! The animals are all well taken care of and everyone was extremely friendly
We held our sons birthday party here, and it was an EXCEPTIONAL experience!! The naturalist was so exciting and kept the children engaged and excited, and was very patient with them. Highly recommend for a fun family day!!
Great place for the family
Very great place to take a hike and really enjoy nature. The facility itself is interesting, with many interesting exhibits about nature, and even some live animals, too! Did i mention that it is completly free to visit? The walking trails are long and have a variety of trees and wildlife. Also, it is even great for birthday parties. So, this is an overall great place to visit and bring the family.
Bugs, Bones and Bats is a great event the park puts on. Weve been going for about 4 years. Great entertainment for kids with many crafts and more and more food options. Highly recommend this esp. with kids.
So I finally checked it out, i love the wwlcome center, it has some good info for the whole family. We walked the green trail, it was long enough to keep the kids entertained. Free bug spray so that was awesome. I recommend bringing a sketch pad for the kids and having them sketch the different plants because it has signs of the plants. This way it makes them feel like a scientist
We went for the annual owl night. Everyone was friendly. Well definitely come back again
Great place to visit and great place to for bird watching
Great place to go hang out in the woods. They do many programs for kids and families. There are numerous trails to walk on and lots of informational classes/programs as well. Highly recommend it.
Great place to take a family outing or field trip! The staff is very friendly and accommodating to whatever your needs are. Its a great place for children to learn about the animals in their area and nature in general.
The were cool. Smores yummy. People nice. Good memories. Recommend highly on visiting this Park. Love it
They do a great job of presenting Louisiana animals and information with children. Interesting and informative.
Trails can get a bit confusing. Needs better signage.
Very peaceful. A great place to get out in nature and get some fresh air! Easy navigation, lots of trail markers and well groomed. The visitor center has a trail map and free bug spray! A bonus since we forgot it. They had a bird exhibit with owls, falcons and a huge golden eagle. Pretty awesome place off the beaten path. Will definately return.
Beautiful hiking trails! Bring bug spray and wear pants!
Support this beautiful place, get yourself out in the wilderness as much as possible!
Wonderful little place with wildlife to interact with and observe and plenty of gorgeous nature trails. I secretly didnt want to tell you how much I like coming here so I could keep it more to myself ;p
This is a wonderful park with wonderful staff. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable about the animals they care for and the different native plant life in the area. Its sad knowing that the magnificent loblolly pine is no longer present next to the building. There are plenty of paths to take and get plenty of exercise. Its a great place to go bird watching.
Really great place. We went for the Owl Hike. Very well organized.
Great nature trails and wonderful fall pictures. There are alot of informative things to observe in the building . Family fun!
Beautiful trails to follow. Well marked paths.
I recently went to walk a nature trail and loved it. It was serene and wonderful. There is an exhibit with birds of prey, including a bald eagle. A neat experience.
Wonderful place to take a relaxing trail hike through the woods to learn about the diverse natural habitat of the area and see firsthand what native northern Louisiana vegetation and wildlife is present throughout the year.
Attended owl night. Amazing. Thank you so much for putting our tax dollars to good use.
Great place to take kids & grands!! Educational & fun!It was awesome meeting real owls up close.
Very large place to relax with lots of trails.
One of caddo parish s great things!
Walter B Jacobs is a nature park. Small, but has a very nice educational center with some live animals, walking trails, small parking area. The nature park is just north of Shreveport in Blanchard, La on Blanchard-Furrh Rd.
Great place to clear your mind on a walk. Long trails and a nice nature center.
Nice place to connect with nature. Many items to see and learn about. The nature center regularly hosts events.
Very peaceful, beautiful Gods creation experience.
Absolutly beautiful park to say the least. The trails are stunning, nature is vibrant, so much to learn!!
Fantastic place to visit nature and participate in educational programs. They have a wheelchair and stroller friendly paved trail!
“Great Asset In Need Of Maintenance”This park offers hiking trails, one of which is paved and handicap accessible, live exhibits of birds and snakes, a pavilion, and various scheduled activities. On this visit we enjoyed one of the trails, and exhibits in the main building
Could be better tended,too
Very informative and fun for the children.
Great place to get close to nature. I will be going back.
Great place! They even do Birthday Parties for free.
This place is lovely. We love to go out and meditate
Awesome time! Very kid friendly with lots to do in nature.
