Amazing!!! I recommend for couples and children. Its a great family environment. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because this is a walking activity. It is incredible! I definitely will return next year! Its absolutely beautiful
We had such an amazing time tonight at Christmas in Roseland! So many beautiful lights everywhere! Decorations of Santa, candy canes, reindeer, etc all light up. We had hot cocoa and toasted marshmallows. It was so much fun. Definitely worth the $5 per person entry fee! Everyone was laughing and in a festive mood! Merry Christmas!!
Check their website for the best times to go to see the roses, but honestly, its just so beautiful and peaceful to walk around at any time. Lots of benches and shade to rest if you need it. Definitely a must see.
My best friend married the woman of his dreams there and Ive got to say it was a beautiful wedding and and Really Gorgeous place #!
Very pretty - even this late in the year the grounds were nicely kept and there were still some roses in bloom. A nice place for a walk.
The smell of the roses is incredible. I think because of the heat/time of year there wasnt a big selection of roses but the whole place still smelled amazing.
Went to see the Christmas lights and walk around, it was very nice, they had authors and a childrens choir singing. Every year they add more lights and displays. They also have the postcards that the schools students make for Christmas.
WOW!! What an AMAZING hidden gem!! My daughter found it as we were searching for places to visit during spring break. The wonderful receptionist, Raven, let us know as we checked in that the roses were at 60% full bloom. Even with the renovations going on the grounds were beautiful and the roses are stunning!! It was worth the four hour drive from home!! This beautiful facility is a must for anyone that loves roses, even for someone like me that cant grow them!
Once again we were a bit late and past the the rose peak bloom. However, what we did see was pretty special and allowed us to capture some blooms. This a beautiful well kept facility and grounds, so the thoughts of returning and seeing it in full bloom is tantalizing. We will make the effort to return to this wonderful place and enjoy it in its full glory.
I don’t recommend nobody to have a wedding at the Rose garden Lou Kerr is a liar she will tell you what you want to hear until she get your money .She contact me thru email less than 2 weeks to my wedding saying we would have to have our wedding and reception out side we had to find another venue for the reception last minute my wedding was at 7 pm she told us the steps would have lights lights would be on there was no lights we had to try to take pictures in the dark and she then had the nerves to tell the photographer he had to wrap it up we paid to much money for nothing to be out side I had to come put covers over the ugly cheap chairs out side the grounds wasnt neat they had dirt piles everywhere while trying to set up 10minutes before my rehearsal she walked another couple in looking around at what I set up . I’m reporting her to the BBB she do not need to be in business so many people told me after how she was very ruled she is bad for this business .John you need to put someone eles in charge you will lose lots of business because of her lies it’s not her business what kind of work my husband and I do she don’t need to ask my caterer what we do or how much money we have that’s not professional at all.Im not stopping until she is gone no bride and groom should have to put up with her BS on their special day.The water in the pool was dirty and smelling .also during rehearsal after she walked another couple thru for over 30 she came out and told us we had 10 mins left on rehearsal when I told her I didn’t appreciate her walking somebody eles thru she told me we didn’t own nothing there when I paid my money I own it .
The Christmas Lights were wonderful. They are renovating the core garden and planting this spring. Kids will love the lights. When I came here a couple of months ago everything looked dead. The lady said they are renovating this year. Again, the Christmas party is wonderful. Update..2018 Christmas lights are wonderful again.
This a beautiful place very quite. A must see.
Took our kiddos to see Santa and ended up getting a huge surprise myself, my boyfriend planned to propose to me, it couldnt have been more beautiful and special! The crispy cool night air, all the beautiful twinkling lights and displays for Christmas, and including our three little ones was the icing on the cake! The kiddos had a blast and I had a lifelong memory!
A wonderful venue for weddings and ceremonies.
I can tell this is beautiful during rose season. Still beautiful!
We visited during the Easter party, and had a lot of fun! My son loved the train, face painting, characters in costume, and egg hunt. The garden and grounds were beautiful! We will definitely be returning.
Place is pleasant, but is undergoing a multi-year renovation. The gardens, paths & stations are being worked on. Nice playground for younger children. The blooms were sparse when I was there in mid October. They were preparing the park for Christmas.
My family and I love this place! It is beautiful! We love that you can get out and walk and get up close to the roses. We love to go during the Christmas season, and walk around the lighted displays. They are beautiful, and its so much more fun than a drive-through Park!
Lights during Christmas was very fun and cool to see.
The American Rose center is one of the most beautiful places in Earth. It is best to go in late Spring to early summer to get the full effect. It is best to go early in the day, bring water. You might want to consider an umbrella or parasol if you go late in thr day the direct sun in Louisiana can be a beast. There are many lovely statues and hundreds of rose varietals. There are also several benches in the shade. If you love roses the American Rose Center is the place to see them... See them early before it is 100+ degrees out.
Very pretty place.
Lou has to go!!!! She doesnt do anything she says.
Me and the family drive here to see the seasonal Christmas lights. $20 to get in and acres of lights and displays. There was even a little train ride for the kids and you could buy tickets to have you or your kids picture with Santa.. Was looking for something like this close to home and this fit the bill..
Went the first weekend in August 2019. I would have pardoned the construction had there been something to see or if it the grounds were fully open; large area gated and not accessible. Roses looks dismally under cared for as did the areas we could see from our vehicle. Did not venture out of our car as it was being inundated by large horseflies. Website presented a much rosier picture thsn the reality.
It was the off season and the plants were suffering from the heat but we managed to see some beautiful roses and speak with one of the staff. You can tell they work hard to maintain this garden. Well worth a visit especially in the fall or spring.
Absolutely a beautiful place to spend hours photographing and smelling hundreds of varieties of Roses. The one gentleman that cares for the grounds stopped and gave us insight and information about the different roses and the grounds. Do glad we went here.
We visited on a beautiful cool day. Many of the roses had already lost their blooms but, the ones that were blooming were beautiful.
It was expensive for just to get in and I didnt know to buy my ticket for santa so my kods had already sat in santas lap and the photographer turned her back on my kids and Santa never said a word to them so whole.i was in line to buycmy.blue ticket my.kids were ssitting and standing by Santa looking a little unsure of what to do
Make sure you go during the blooming season or this is not a great place to go. I think during the blooming season it would be a 10/10.
I enjoyed the time, but this was mostly for my girlfriend. She said the best time would be to visit during the spring or fall.
Absolutely beautiful!
Havent been here but commercial on tv shows it is decorated for Christmas. Hope to go.
Our wedding ceremony was great, Lou was helpful, I just didnt like that the Easter event got moved to our wedding day due to storms and we didnt know about it until we arrived... so it was hard to take pictures without eggs or bunnies, or staff setting up picking tables in the background... kind of a bummer!
It’s usually good but last Christmas some of the Christmas lights were off and they were not letting my family in some parts we usually go to
Largest Rose Garden in America AND theyve got Christmas Lights, too!
While viewing wedding venues, for the company that I work for, I paid the gardens a visit. Ive seen quite a few venues, but nothing quite like this place. Its gorgeous (even with the renovations going on), to say the least.Lou was very helpful and informative, and was kind enough to take me on a tour, and provide me with all of the information that we generally need, when viewing for clients. I cant wait to go back for a visit, this time for pleasure, as opposed to business, so that I can take the time to enjoy the gardens.
Festive atmosphere and fun for the whole family.
The Easter egg hunt was fun for the kids. We will be back to see all the beautiful roses next month.
Always a pleasure! Christmas in Roseland is absolutely the best family affair in Shreveport. Cant wait till April when the roses are in bloom!
The gardens were unkept and the walkways were not swept. There were weeds everywhere including growing up through the walkways. A lot of the attractions were gone too. The Statue of Liberty was nowhere to be found. The only good thing was that the AC was working in the visitors center. The greeter was not very friendly either. She didn’t give us any information on what areas were closed or what attractions were gone. To top it off when we were leaving one of the grounds maintenance guys was peeing in the bushes out front. I do not recommend this “rose garden”.
Flowers werent bloomed yet. But still a nice place
Beautiful lights and friendly staff!
Some of the bushes had a lot of blossoms on them, but a lot of the bushes didnt. Parts of the garden are being renovated now.
Gardens were laid out well. However most of the roses were withered, dead or not blooming due to the extreme heat weve been having. They were being replanted. Log cabin chapel with strained glass was beautiful.
We were on a road trip from home in Florida to Texas...passing through Shreveport. We decided to Stop and smell the roses at this tranquil place. After a visit in the Klima Education and Visitor Center (where the brochures and maps are) we strolled the extensive gardens. At first you encounter The Reflection Pool...walk a little further and there it is...Windsounds Carillon Tower...plus roses. roses and more roses. On the way back out you see a sweet little Japanese Teahouse. An attraction off the beaten path and worth it.
Too much walking no signs or directions to lead you back to entrance
Christmas lights and displays at The American Rose Center are fantastic. Very nice for family outing during the Christmas season.
On our way to a family event in Texas we decided to stop at this rose garden in Shreveport. We were not charged an entrance fee but we gave a donation anyway. We went through the Visitor Center and gift shop then out onto the vast grounds. We encountered The Reflection Pool...walked a little further and there in all its glory surrounded by towering pines is The Windsounds Carillon Tower with bright red roses nearby to enjoy. After time at the tower and a short walk back towards the visitor Center we encountered the picturesque Japanese Teahouse. What a delightful place to visit...to stop and smell the roses.
Place was okay. Some real beautiful places but took a 20 donation but didnt bother telling that they were closing in 10mins and there was a tree down blocking 90% of the rose garden
This place was not kept up at all. I was very disappointed
Building felt like an old mosoleum..gift shop had old outdated items and not much to choose from..staff was rude..the grounds were lovely but going thru the musty building took away from tour..no plans to return
Great christmas light event. very well coordinated.
Must have been off season nothing to look at in October but also kinda run down
Kids love the Christmas lights, it is quite expansive. During the summer the grounds are beautiful when in bloom but more of an adult thing to do. Staff is friendly and informative.
A huge garden of different varieties and types of roses developed by the society.
Nice facility but a lack of enough parking spaves
I was looking for a place to take senior class photos. Plenty of spots to do so. Has a public bathroom. Very nice staff.
Not sure what happened. I loved visiting this place when I was younger. My visit the other day was uneventful and disappointing. All but one walkway had a closed sign, property could do with some maintenance. Went into the office to make a donation as required for admittance and walk the park regardless. Shouldnt have wasted the gas. A woman there made eye contact with me and just kept going about her day. So we left.
Visited during the Christmas season. Have made lots of changes to the park from when I visited years ago. Not a bad experience, and just different enough to enjoyable.
We visited last weekend and knew we were too early for the roses but went anyway. The area is not well marked with directions to the actual gardens. The driveway back to the gardens is a rough drive even going slowly. The grounds are unkempt. We then went to the Tyler, TX gardens and they were wonderful! Perhaps the ARS garden could get some advice from TX.
A nice rose center near shreveport ... but it is a bit hard to find
Oh no... Uhg... this place is in desperate need of proper maintenance and repairs. Left the gardens feeling depressed.
I have lived here in Shreveport all my life and girlfriend came over from Texas for a visit and we went to the Rose center and we our Visit was very Enjoyable, !! Thank You
Beautiful park, a little unmanaged, some gardens seem to have been empty for long, however its still a place with visiting, both for its beauty and the large variety of species for anyone interested in roses.
I didnt walk the gardens, but visited the gift shop & I liked it. I thought the replica train would be larger.
Beautiful venue. Attended a wedding here. It was wonderful.
Attended a friends wedding. The employees were not PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. Upset that we asked if they could mow the area where wedding was going to be. Said we had 30 min. Did not realize that was set up and teardown time.Employee came in as ceremony was over and said we had to go they were locking gate. We had not taken any pics yet. We asked her not to ruin brides day, she said she had been there since 10am..... beautiful venue, horrible customer service.
Beautiful place to visit. Their Christmas and Easter celebrations are the best.
We loved the Christmas lights and decorations. It was a beautiful way to start the Christmas season with our family.
It was wonderful, but it was too cold and lines were outrageously long.
Beautiful experience - this would make a great setting for a wedding.
It will be really beautiful after they get redoing the area.
Been here several times mostly in the spring. Currently the garden appears abandon except the fountain is still running. The roses, roads, and facilities are HORRIBLY maintained. Very definitely a waste of gas to drive out here.
Loved the Christmas light display
Love the lights at Christmas!
Map we given didnt match the new trails
Very nice Christmas lights display. We enjoyed our visit to the grounds.
Absolutely exquisite place
I had a very peaceful experience! Great place for anyone that loves nature! More than enough to simply enjoy!!
Great place to enjoy with my family. Really nice friendly atmosphere
Awesome place
My sister was told that she couldnt take her bridal pictures and was sent to the back of the whole garden where no one could see us. The whole back was just poo, the flowers were all dead, grass wasnt even cut ugh my sister was going to have a meltdown. It just shows how people treat others
I always go during Christmas for the lights and we are never disappointed!
They very unique plants, flowers. And the staff is very helpful an informative.
Well maintained, beautiful gardens!
Peace Rose stamp Inauguration
Lots of memories from my childhood. Kinda went downhill alittle.
Help us keep this treasure trove of of Gods Beauty open. Donate and help keep it up.
Great place to take the family
Palm Sunday at Rose Garden
Beautiful!
Pretty interesting place to walk. The Christmas light display was fun for the family.
Went their for Christmas in Roseland, great lighting displays
We went to the rose center to see the Christmas decorations. We go every year, it heralds our Christmas holidays.
Gorgeous
Not trying to rate as much as suggesta change to the operating times. Google says open today 1-5pm but-**From November til March the park is CLOSED on the weekends**
