Walking the logging roads to a small trail that opened up to a hidden, ice cold, yet refreshing waterfall. Yes, we will be back. Wear junk shoes it gets muddy.

So pretty! Lots of trails and very little traffic. Some of the trails are more on the steep side so be careful but the views at the top are awesome!

Basically, just a stop on the side of the road. Googles directions do not take you to the parking area. That is on the east side of 101. Nice to stop and look at but not a destination.

Awesome place to get a small walk and see spawning salmon. Docents there to interpret what you are seeing. Wear UV glasses. Youll see fish in the water easier with them. Or bring glass cleaner to use the docents version, as they are dirty. It doesnt smell of rotting salmon yet and you can see them building nests and jockeying for mating. . Closes at 4, so 3 is the absolute latest to arrive.

Many of these comments are for the wrong place there is no waterfall or salmon run and no dogs are allowed per sign. It is a beautiful little spot you can pull of off of the road and enjoy.

Easy walk along logging road to reach the short side trail to the falls. The short Salmon Trail at the beginning was very pretty.

I went at low tide, later in the day, and unfortunately there wasnt a lot of wildlife out at the time. There is a parking area along the corner of 101, up on the hill. There is also parking along the roadway with a trail that heads down to a small area on the water.

A lot of the reviews here are for the wrong place. Theyre for the Salmon Trail or the falls. The Natural Area Preserve is very small and just a couple of overlooks at the estuary. No hiking trails. You cant actually see the salmon run. Its more of a bird watching site and yes there is a lot of poison oak.

Unfortunately I keep finding ticks on my dog and I each time I go there. Not sure why there are SOO many ticks there. Otherwise I would go there a lot more. Even in the winter weve gotten bitten. This is the only place I have encountered ticks around here, and I go hiking all the time.
