We went first tent camping with our little kiddos at Jarrell Cove and it was a hit!The campground was a little small, but well maintained with very friendly staffs. There was not much privacy but we felt comfortable having the kids exploring on their own without going out of sight. It’s really a kid friendly place, especially with little ones. We will go there again.
It has been a couple of years sense I was there, they have up graded on some of the things very nice setting, for boat morning, camping and just walking the pathway.
But please dont come here. A quiet little camp with well maintained trails and always watched by a ranger!! Thank you for the beautiful and safe Park for me and my family!
Went by boat from Tacoma. 6 or so hours at 5 knots, sailing, and motor-sailing. Quiet and very nice. Nice little bay for paddle boarding etc.State Park Mooing balls, and a linear dock. Dock might be too shallow for some sailboats. One of the south sounds best marine parks.
Jarrell Cove is a gem! A quiet, well-protected anchorage, many park mooring buoys, a cove and inlets perfect for exploration by kayak or rowing dinghy; a small marina with a store that sells boat fuel and ice cream; and, a state park with campsites, hot showers and meandering trails amongst towering Douglas Firs and a multitude of huge ferns.Whats not to love?
Had a great stay at the long dock. Having shore power makes a ton of difference. Moorage cost $.75/ft + $3/day for power. The store at the marina closed on Labor Day until mid to late May.
The camp host is very rude. The park website, and rangers we spoke to told us that there is open camping for paddle boarders/kayakers. There are campsites for reservation, and first come first serve, but you are also allowed to camp on the beach, as long as the tide does not reach there, which gives you limited options. We paddled up at 10pm at night, very quiet, being respectful, found a picnic bench and grill so started grilling. We just paddled 5 miles and were very tired and hungry. Before we could set up camp, the camp host came up to us and said this is not a camp site, she told 4 paddlers at 10pm with little to no visibility that they need to leave. Very very rude and inhuman. However at 10 pm at night on the water, if you float slowly there are bioluminesents, the water will glow like magic, and everyone should experience this. Make sure to float slowly in the cove at night, it is so awe inspiring.
Went there today for the first time and it was immaculately kept. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, the lawns were mowed and the paths were even and clear. Took our stroller on the short hiking trail and had no trouble. This would be my ideal destination if I was going to camp with an elderly or handicapped family member, or little kids. Only thing thats make it better would be a play structure. And maybe another trail. And be bigger. Seriously, this place was beautiful. Want more just like it.
Small park with water access. Some camping spots. Clean restroom.
Lots of moorings and dock space. Inner dock even has 30 amp power. Laundromat, little store and ice available across at the marina.
Small park with beautiful views.
Pretty, nice bathrooms, decent trails, but thats it. Not a lot of camping space, and the trails are eh. But the bay is nice.
Very secluded Park great place to pitch a tent or camp at.
Beautiful and secluded little magical park. Showers are clean and warm and the small walk to the waters edge makes you feel like you’re far far away from the rest of the world- all the way at the edge of the earth. Beautiful little known about park - shhh don’t tell too many people about this gem !
Great place to stay no cell coverage kind of nice
We just spend 3 days in Jarrels Cove State Park.It is a small park, only two sites have hookups. Small sites are mostly set up for car camping, but midsize RV’s will fit.Great nature trail through the woods. Cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a State Park. Two big boat docks big enough for multiple yachts. Bouys in the cove for anchorage.Bring a canoe, kayak or paddle board. Marina and grocery store are 100’ across the Cove. Ride your bikes on the quiet roads of the island. You will see deer everywhere. Great getaway for a few days, highly recommend.
We have been coming to this beautiful park via boat for years. The upgraded dock with 30A power is really nice. The state park pump out is out of service as of March 2020 but there is one at the store across from the park for a fee.
With it being the off season, this park is great for some peace and quiet. Was lucky to see an otter and a family of deer. Toilets were clean and warm. Beautiful views.
Wonderful marine and land park. Excellent dock and many buoys. Much nicer location off-season as late-May through late-September can be very busy with no space available. The marine pumpout station has been closed ... a problem a lot many of the states parks (guess the state wants boats dumpings holding tanks into the Sound?!?!?).
Here in off season so the place is a ghost town. Look forward to Summer experience. Water still on, big plus. Pump out station down indefinitely, big minus.
Out of the way... and quiet this time of year. Excellent place to boat in to and stay the night.
Nice quiet lil campground. Nice showers. Great trails and access to the saltwater. My kiddos live it there! They also have a nice group camp.
Meh. Campsites are small, out in the open with little privacy. Walking trails are small and unremarkable. Considering there are way better campgrounds in the area, I sadly have to say that this place is better for a day picnic than for a camping trip.
Showers are awesome! Nice open area
Very well maintained and clean. Great walking trails as well.
Beautiful park plenty of trails to adventure on. Camping sites, bathrooms with showers. My little dog and I frequently come here and love it.
Very clean open camp ground. Easy access to salt water, beautiful scenery, south a visit. The only sad part is that its becoming reservation only next year, no more spontaneous visits.
Camp hosts were very polite and made sure I had everything I need. My campsite was very private from other and it seems most are like that. It is far away from major traffic so it is quiet and peaceful out here. There is a Marina nearby if you enjoy that kind of thing. Trails are short but offer some views. Will come back during the summer. This is a year round camping spot.
Very beautiful place. Nice walks and waterfront. Gas store and laundry at the marina.
It is a decent park to visit. Its got a few camp sites and plenty of daytime parking. There is even a boat dock iffin you own a boat and you want to sail it to the park. The park itself is pretty small. An added bonus: it has indoor restrooms and indoor showers.
Seemed kind of small but well put together... Camping spaces, playground and bathrooms all in one central area... None the less we enjoyed it and are going back.
Great little park with approximately 20 camping spots, 2 with rv hook-ups. Also has 2 boat docks and a restroom with flush toilets and showers. The place was extremely quite and peaceful, I could easily spend a few days here camping and sit around a fire or play horseshoes in the nice pits.
Cute, sheltered water park. Bare minimum basics store at the Marina (Marine is on other side of inlet so plan on a water crossing however you do it, only couple hundred feet away) little spendy though, $15 for moorage 21 or less land campsite $32 night.
What a hidden little gem. We stayed here on our trip to the rain forest and this campground was clean and the host were very nice and welcoming. We would highly recommend coming here. We also will make a point of coming back.
Clean bathrooms (with a shower) shared by both day visitors and overnight campers. A short and easy walking path through the woods and along part of the water with some great plant variety and some lovely views. Water has some docks to walk along, but most water access is boat related.
Beautiful park except for the low income apartments there.
You have to own a boat to enjoy this spot.
Beautiful and secluded, camp host was vert helpful and friendly.
This place is filled with northwest white trash trailers and generators. Air was filled with cigarette smoke and place smelled like beer and piss. Cant believe this is a park. Looked like a concert campground. Bathrooms were worse. I have seen refugee camps that look and smell better. So many off leash dogs running around. Dog poop. Sad.
Great place for people and puppies!!
A lovely small park with two boat docks. Both secluded and open sites. The staff is awesome: ranger, park employees and camp hosts! The grounds and restrooms were clean clean clean. As is the case with the state park reservation system, it is not accurate with regard to sites that can be reserved. I will call next time rather than trust the website.
Beautiful views! Has a small but great trail system! Love supporting our Uh-Mazing State Parks!! As the State budget for State Parks dwindles, I happily cough it up to keep these jewels open and Staffed!!!
Unique and private campsites on the hill where you couldnt see a neighbor if you dont mind packing your gear a bit from the car - we did and loved it. The campsites on the flat were more traditional park close to your tent sites. The ranger, assistants and the hosts were some of the friendliest people Ive met. Large very clean restrooms. We had a great time here but had we heeded this sign after crossing onto the island or the sign as we entered the park we would have turned around as they both said the park was full.
Nice anchorage
Great trails and dock, camping is a little pricey.
One of the most peaceful places on Puget sound. Come here to get away from hustle and bustle issues
This is a great little park with wonderful hosts. a nice variety of sites and trails. Were coming back.
Very clean and enjoyable trails and docks.
Great park, we really enjoyed our stay.
Great camping spot. Live music, horseshoe games and fishing. Bathrooms were clean and camp host was awesome!
Beautiful campground with some nice amenities.
Little weird navigating to our spot. Mostly hosts fault. Very nice park with great views. Held my step fatthers birthday there and yet all of us were having such a good time, we forgot to take pics
Quiet, beautiful. Car camped at the group site. Lots of privacy. The other sites has pretty much no privacy nor shade. The ranger is super nice. Theres am amphitheater and they had a nature talk over the weekend which was awesome.
Neat little state park that we were going to try and use for a long run route but the running routes are pretty short. Could see it being a great spot to camp and go on short little walks around the campground though.
Nicely secluded, roomy but still woodsy. Very clean, nice bathrooms. Campsites are a little small. Lots of trails and access to the dock.
Harrell Cove is amazing State Park
Great place to day trip and camp.
Nice view and calm..so peaceful
Had a blast...local firefighters came to campsite and gave tour of their firetruck
Beautiful marina, nice and quiet, wonderful people.
Very beautiful park. Unique campsites that offer privacy on the south end. Awesome group site on the trail. The cove is beautiful! Peace and quiet!
Beautiful space. The group camping site is close enough to be convenient, but just far enough to feel isolated and offer some privacy.
Best camping spot ever
Small place and Peaceful for a camping trip. Lots of water activities to do. Fishing, crabbing, clamming, boating etc. Volunteers at the park are very nice, patient, and helpful .The only drawback is there is only 1 bath room and 3 toilets. Which gets a little congested .
Pretty. Well cared for state park with nice facilities.
I like this small campground but you cant reserve the few best spots they have.
Nice small state park.
Very clean campground! Nice bathrooms and showers. Easy walk to water.
Fantastic bare bones camp site with a few sites you can kayak to.
Old family haunt:) its small and clean with good trails for kids
Lots of gathering areas. Looks like it would be a fun place to camp.
Great overnight with my family. Quiet and beautiful night sky.
A must see on a visit to Harstene Island. Great walking trails, boat launch. Note: Discover Pass required (bring yours or purchase a daily pass onsite). State Park camp hosts onsite much of the time.
Beautiful. Full of short trails that are easy to walk.
The kingfishers are a delight to watch. Peaceful and beautiful!
Nice park, no dump station. Great trails to wander around.
Great area to camp. Beautiful secluded area on the South Sound.
Beautiful views. Love the small outdoor amphitheatre.
A very basic campground. More for marine folks. You know who you are!
Great place for boaters and RVs. Watch out for the prices in the marina store!
Just visited once. Nice location.
Beautiful park. Small but fun.
Great camp grounds and facilities.
Beautiful park
