I love this nature trail, it is so beautiful. It would be even more beautiful if I was not constantly picking up litter. There is only one trash can all the way by the parking lot even though there is multiple picnic spots along the trail. It would be extremely beneficial to the trail if trash and recyclable cans were more accessible. If you are enjoying nature, why not take care of it also?
Its so beautiful and well kept too. Only problem is people speeding passes you and your dog almost running them over. And telling you to move the f*ck out of their way
I live within ten minutes from here --and never knew about this nature preserve. Its a great place to walk during the summer because its has so many tall trees providing shade.Theres benches, pavilions and boardwalks along the trail. The trail goes pretty far back into the tranquil woods. It is pet friendly- so we brought our dog Chloe. Its nice free outdoor fun for the whole family!
A nice, shady walk. There are multiple trails but many are closed due to flooding, construction or just plain dilapidation. Didnt see much wildlife when I was there. The clear spring in some of the photos was brown and murky. Its up Osprey Trail on the left (if youre going east) across from the pavilion.
Most of the facilities were closed when we got the there but my kids and I loved the trails. Definitely somewhere we will visit again in the future.
Great place to take the kids or to be alone and enjoy the nice Serene quality of Florida nature.
I had so much fun walking this trail. Theres a lot of side trails to explore and areas to go off road biking.
A marvelous escape to enjoy some hiking! Can get muddy on parts of the trail so make sure you bring a towel if you plan on walking your canine. Worth it!
Nice 1.25 mile loop hike along a creek.
This may soon become one of my fall hang out spots. The walking trail is mostly shaded with the hint of a creek and the almost captivating feeling of full submersion into nature. The bike trail is the best for short and long distance rides. Ok, I havent rode the bike trail yet. But I will and excited to get out and ride; just looking at the section of trail Ive seen, it looks inviting.
Fantastic, large preserve area that’s great for hiking and jogging. So cool to see different types of wildlife - hawks, alligators, wild hog (I’ve only seen their tracks, but have met folks who have seen them), etc. Lots of nice paths to take great pics, especially off foot bridges. In some areas you’ll even see sand boils. Make sure to come with deep woods off as their are tons of mosquitoes, large biting flies and ticks. Allow yourself about 2 hours to really explore all the trails. Lots to see!
Probably home to the last major stand of millennia old cypress trees in Florida. I would give the coordinates to the biggest one in the park but you Longwood crackheads would probably just burn it down anyway
Awesome place for walking and sight seeing. Lizards everywhere and great photography. Definitely great experience and adventure.
I wish they would reopen the nature conservatory here. It is such a nice place to picnic and walk.
This is a wonderful place to come and explore. Some of these photos were taken passed points of trail, which Im sure you can imagine, can be very tricky, and isnt maintained at all, so the trail that once was there, is sometimes hard to see.The trails that are present are nice. Obviously not completely picked up from Irma. Still some trees and limbs still lying about, however nothing detrimental! Most of the boardwalks are done for. Mainly the ones that looked to be the most interesting, which is a shame. I went on one of them, and if you love to bob and weave, climb over things, all that, Is recommend going on them, anyway! Just be careful! The boardwalks that lead into the mud walk portion, if you went to the mud walk field trip in fifth grade, are well maintained, and you can walk through tons of mud and water! Really fun to bring kids through this part! The one that leads to Lake Jesup is ruined, and above water. Obviously, you can try it, however, you risk falling into the water if youre not careful. I only went a little out onto it. I fell in coming back, which was fun!Overall, great place. Would love to see the whole circle restored, but I think thats wishful thinking for now.
SHP is another great place for hiking, biking, birding or just plain getting out and enjoying nature. Its just outside the hustle and bustle of the norm.It has great mtn. bike trails, unidirectional for safety that run along Soldiers Creek. They range in difficulty and can be hiked as well. The Florida Trail runs through the Hammock, marked by its usual orange paint, along with Rails To Trails crossing through a couple times. If you dont mind mud and want to have a little fun the mud walks are going to make you feel like a mud puppy! There is a spring to wash some mud off. Bring plenty of bug spray, old clothes and a camera!Get out and about!
AMAZING little place to take kids for a cute little nature tour!
It was a nice shady walk on the trail near a spring. Will go back and explore the rest of the trails off the main path.
The main trail is great! However, due to the amount of rain lately theres a point you cant go past, the water is over the trail. Most of the bridges across the little canals are dilapidated and falling apart... Needs some maintenance and tlc..
First time visitor and enjoyed the midday morning walk. The environmental studies is right at entrance. Going straight will take you towards the trails. Upon walking with my dog I passed many others some with their dog as well. I attempted to go off the main trail but had to turn back due to some unaccounted swampiness. I will definitely be back for a longer walk.
This place is pretty sweet. Trails everywhere. We went on a Sunday. The main building was closed. We found several animals (see pictures). The previous Hurricane had done a fair amount of damage and some of the trails were closed. Still a nice walk to take.
Place seems abandoned, trail heads that say no trespassing, quite confusing, no real good maps to explain what trails are what.
Excellent hiking, biking, walking and talking trail.
Beautiful walk and it is entirely shaded the entire way. Just wish the boardwalk at the end was still functional.
Great trails. Well kept by the local Florida trail association chapter. Good signage once youre past the front gate. But dont miss the turn off 419 to get in. New camp site added just today right on the river.
Great park and trail, looks good and clean!
Good place to explore, seems very safe and lots of wildlife.. you have the main trails and some side trails.. good for dogs, familys and hiking..
Lots of beautiful, shaded trails. Bathrooms are closed though.
We were riding the paved bike trail and decided to take a quick detour into this park. As others have mentioned the Osprey main trail is still being maintained but the return Limpkin trail and 2 boardwalks are closed. It was cool to see the spring. Wear bug spray! we were eaten to death if we stopped. We ride hybrid bikes and the main trail was ride-able as it has rained recently and was packed down. I could see that if it was very dry the sugar sand would be trouble for our bikes. Its not a smooth ride as there are old bricks and concrete used to stabilize the trail but it wasnt bad. Would be easy on a mountain bike. Such a same the park is not being maintained. Would be an easy 5 star if maintained. Sadly a 3 because so much is closed. This was July 2017
Gorgeous trail to walk on! I highly recommend that you ignore the end of trail sign and complete the loop instead. Its a little muddy, and youll have to climb over a few fallen trees, but its so worth it. Theres also easy access to the Florida Trail here!
Good place for a short trail walk
The two trees are impressive in person. The park is much nicer than i was expecting, although its pretty small. But for what it is, its very nice. Too bad the biggest tree was burned to the ground and all thats left is the base.
Nice simple trail.
Well maintained, even the less traveled trails. Good variety from challenging to a casual walk.
Shaded trails, interesting Flora and Fauna and pretty streams.
Saw what looked like a blue dragon fly, kids learned something new. Played on the well maintained playground. Extremely clean restroom
Mostly moist terrain due to storms. A lot of the trails are closed, but still a nice walking trail.
It is really pretty! It is a good place to ride bikes and things like that and there are hiking trails too
Awesome tour for the school. Very muddy.. Mud was everywhere. Thank GOD Im tall.
Very nice place for a relaxing walk and a nice setting for photography. the park goers were all cool people and it was a nice time. place is clean and they keep it up well so its safe for all ages. i highly recommend
Great place to experience the real Florida
Very quiet serene. Peaceful. Great place to think.
Great place to just go hiking and enjoy nature. There are rarely other people here so you can just walk without being bothered and everything is quieter.
Great place to just go hiking and enjoy nature. There are rarely other people here so you can just walk without being bothered and everything is quieter. There are a few boardwalks that lead off the main trail toward Lake Jesup, but they dont go all the way there and they are definitely in need of maintenance. If you just want to walk in nature this is the place. There really isnt anything else to do here.
Great place to escape the craziness of Orlando.
Great place to visit. You can stay on the paved. Path or choose the trail thru the woods.
This park is so nice and the tubing is super fun. The water temp (once you get used to it) is quite pleasant and the clarity is crystal. If you are going, especially on a weekend, be prepared to arrive WELL before the 8AM opening time and wait in a long car line. They only let a certain number in and then shut down admissions for the day so plan ahead & bring everything you need (food, tubes, etc) because they wont let you re-enter once they close off entry.
Great trail..
Cute enclosed playground for kids. Covered pavilions. Boardwalk into woods w historical information.
Nice, well maintained and peaceful
Very peaceful outdoors public place to relax and unwind..
Great local single track.
Come on down with the family this is a great site nature at its best
Peaceful.
Beautiful park
Best trail in Florida
Clean place well organized
Great hiking place. Fresh air and wild life to observe!
Nice park and hiking trails. There are only a handful of parking spots but it is empty so you can enjoy exploring the nature in peace.
Very interesting and beautiful.
I went hiking here and its the best, its clean and nice.
Park is beautiful, but most trails are closed :( just walked the main road until the sign that the board walk to the shore was closed.
Very nice place to hike and enjoy the original Florida forest. Paved trails great for biking and roller blading too!
Awesome place for walking and sight seeing. Lizards everywhere and great photography. Definitely great experience and adventure.
Nice forest on the shores of Lake Jessup with miles of hiking trails, though no outstanding features. Bonus: The multi-use Cross Seminole Trail runs right by here.
Such a nice place to walk and take in Nature unique to Florida. Love the news about rebuilding the elevated walkways to Lk Jessup and Soldiers Creek, enjoyed them for years before closures long ago...
Educational...
Its a nice little nature walk to see the oldest trees. There is also one was burned a few years ago and your can see the partial remains.
Very beautiful
The mud walk never gets old!
Beautiful Trails
Favorite activity in Orlando area
Beautiful scenery! But was waayyy too over crowed.. and the porta potties and changing rooms were absolutely filthy. For the money and wait time, there might be other places to visit that could have had cleaner amenities.
Very nice place for a relaxing walk and a nice setting for photography. the park goers were all cool people and it was a nice time. place is clean and they keep it up well so its safe for all ages. i highly recommend
Very Beautiful & peaceful place (RIP- Senator)
Nice little hidden gem
This park is amazing. I did 4 stars because I dont want it to get too crowded! Haha. Its good for little ones but the playground is a bit advanced for kids under 5. Im a bit sad Everytime I see the burned down senator but its sister tree is still really impressive.
Relaxing... A good place to unwind
It’s a great nature walk for your family
Loved the views and all the shade
Very nice park. Looks like they did a good job of keeping it in good shape.
Beautiful for a walk in the woods
Great place to take the kids or to be alone and enjoy the nice Serene quality of Florida nature.
Lots of fun . Great day out with the family. Lots of mid
Love this little single track mtb trail
Very good place to go biking, hiking, or just relax
Very pretty!!
Hiking trails here are not very good, they are too short. Someone please fix the broken boardwalk. If you bring a bicycle theres the Seminole trail which looks great.
Excellent Old Florida place. Im a native and Ive been coming here since I was a kid. Come and enjoy!
Great mountain biking in North Orlando.
Nice place. Wish some of the bridges were repaired but definitely worth a try.
Lots of great trails
Nice place
