This is an awesome place to see sunflowers (best time is late September to early October).The best hike to see sunflowers is the Mark Bed Flats Trail. Follow the red trail out to the flats and you will be immersed in a sea of yellow flowers. Be ready for mud/water up to your mid-calf if you want pictures in the fields. I highly suggest wearing rain boots that reach mid calf if you don’t want your feet getting wet.

Nice trail during the dry months. Plenty of wildlife. Deer, eagles, osprey, etc. The back part of the loop coming back hasnt been managed in a very long time. I was covered with burrs. Overall its a decent short hike.

Great hiking area near Oviedo. A nice short, well-earned trail leads to a cool observation tower near Lake Jesup.

Very beautiful, but the only issue is there are bridges (SR 46) and (Toll rd 415) that pass through it and debris from the vehicles lands in the water. Dont be surprised when you see plastic bottles and debris floating around!

Wild sun flowers bloom here 3 weeks out of the year. If you dont make it out to see them, take a horseback ride around the area with Hidden Palms Ranch. You wont regret it!

Beautiful place to go for an airboat ride

This place is almost entirely taken over by swamp grass fueled by the Sanford City grey water overflow!!Its going to be ANOTHER LAKE APOPKA! Then theyll spend millions of tax payer dollars to correct Sanfords misdeeds!

Pretty cool place to hang out inside a boat. Pretty congested with Gators.

Awesome place to take a quick hike not far from the city.Depending on where you go, parking may be a bit of a squeeze.

Not sure why this popped up, I just drove across the bridge on my way to Best Buy, and it asked me to review lake jesup, conservation area. it is a beautiful lake, Ive been fishing there many times. there are quite a few alligators in this lake though.

Great bridge with a great view of the lake with the most gators per ft

I drive over this bridge on 417 almost every day on the way to work. Its great. Usually there is one Osprey per light pole. Fishing seems great for them! The alligators really seem to enjoy lurking in the waters of Lake Jesup. They probably are dreaming of when the water rises enough for them to have a chance at some of the cows wading into the water on the toll side of the bridge. On that same side there are often beautiful blooms of yellow flowers. I dont usually go home in the evening that way though...too many bugs at dusk.

It is not big but it is beautiful. Cattle can sure tear the trails up in the wet season. Parking lot is tiny. Very good place for photographing wild flowers.

Neat place to take a hike. Various Florida ecosystems. Muddy ground makes the traveling difficult in places. It is easy to get off the designated trail in a few places so pay attention to trail markers.

Twas a terrrrrible idea to swim in here. So. Many. Gators.

We went here for star gazing. It is close enough to town to be a short ride, but there is a little less light, therefore, there are a few more stars. There is also a boat ramp and a few picnic tables.

We hiked the 2.1 mile East Tract. Very nice course with changing types of trees. Lots of good tree canopies to relieve the heat of the day. The observation tower was a nice Galway point with a decent view of the lake even though it is set back quite a few yards due to soil conditions. Hiking path was very dry since we are not yet in the rainy season. Small wooden foot paths are found sporadically along the way. No restrooms in the area. Pack your water.

Beautiful and lots of unique birds and alligators! Loved it!!

I visit this area frequently to look for wildlife, especially shorebirds, wading birds and other wildlife that can be found in marshy areas. There are three tracts to the conservation area--the East Tract (south of Lake Jesup on Elm St), the North Tract (north of Lake Jesup on Cameron Ave) and Marl Bed Flats (north of Lake Jesup near rte 417 on Oak Way). Marl Bed Flats is the most popular of the three destinations for birders and other nature lovers.When you arrive at Marl Bed Flats, you can walk through an oak hammock until you get out to the Marl Bed Slough. It can be very wet at times, so I always bring wading boots with me. You also share this area with cattle, so watch your step!Ive logged over 160 species of birds in this area, along with Bobcats, White-tailed Deer, Coyotes, lots of butterflies and dragonflies, and unfortunately, feral pigs.
