San-Lee Park offers so many activities! There is a Nature Center and a Raptor Center with animals that can no longer survive in nature due to injuries. A display of arrowheads and different minerals and gems as well. There is a 300 foot bridge that goes across the top of a dam with a hiking trail on the other side by the lake. They have stocked the lakes and there are small platforms around the lake to allow access to fish. On the other side of the dam is a much larger lake with a nice dock where can fish as well! If drive down to the lower parking lot there are two waterfalls, hiking and bike trails and a playground. If you look across the field, the dam for the larger lake can be seen going all the way cross the top of the field. This was an awesome opportunity for learning about nature and a great deal of fun!! Wonderful day!

Though out of the way, easily gotten to. There is a nice park in the valley where you park. Everyone that was there was very friendly and courteous. One heading up to the trails though the signage is definitely lacking. Theres an ok map in a clearing to point you in a direction but we found once on the trails there was very unclear signs to the point many people were confused. The trails are very challenging for most people and should be respected as such. The trails a good fun but I hope the sign issue is something that is able to be helped. I definitely want to return for the challenging ride.

Who knew there were mountains to climb in Sanford NC?? Im exaggerating, of course, but there actually is plenty of hill climbing (and descending) along the trails at San-Lee park. We started on the (red) east side lake trail, but found a bridge out so opted for the (white) rocky mountain bike trails instead. 6 miles later, after passing through a short section of the gravity mountain bike trails, we were back at the starting point. We crossed creekbed water on foot once (staying dry) and got a couple doggie photo shoots in at a babbling brook and twin peaks. All in all a great hike, and we will be back! Five stars from me if they improve the start of the red trail (by the nature bldg) a little, and fix that broken bridge. Kudos!!

We like visiting this park and bringing the dogs on the shorter trails. Its not the best park Ive been to, but its kept clean and the location is nice! There is a newer little playground area near the front parking lot. The creek running through there is really pretty, especially when the trees are in bloom in the spring. We still have much more to explore and do here, such as the Nature Center, so Ill likely update my review in the future.

Such a beautiful park! This is my go-to park in Sanford because its beautiful, well taken care of, clean, and never packed. It has some extremely scenic nature and bike trails.Parking is easy to access. There are picnic tables and grilling areas. Quite a bit of the park can be traveled via car. The swampy ponds and creeks are beautiful. There is also fishing allowed if you are properly licensed. You may also rent paddle boats, but they do not seem to have kayak or canoe rentals.Highly recommend this park if you are looking for a beautiful, quiet place. The drive to get here is also extremely scenic and luscious. If you are looking for a location to take beautiful pictures, this is your place.

Its beautiful but the trails are not kept up as well as they could be. The bridges are all falling apart its not hard to replace a plank of wood once in a while. I wont walk one of the trails because the bridges are dangerous. My dog got his paw stuck on a rusty nail trying to get over a rotten spot. Ive talked to the park ranger Steve a few times he claimed theres no money in the budget but if you keep up on things it never gets that bad. I love walking these trials but not lately. The new visitors center is open clean and beautiful. The squirrels cage doesn’t seem big enough. The trails are poorly marked they are not maintained properly and the bridges are a safety hazard.

Its always a great place to visit. If your child wants to play on the swing set, look inside at the exhibits see the owl, snakes or other creatures that were found in the park, go for a hike across the bridge, feed ducks or go fishing or take a paddle boat ride, THIS PLACE HAS IT. There is also a gazobo available to rent, grills to cook out upon, and camp sites for rent at reasonable prices. Its a pretty place to take a picnic because they do have tables and grills available to use. I would recommend visiting San Lee Park.

Pretty decent mountain bike trail system.Came here once before moving to the Raleigh area. After moving I heard about the 2 mountain bike Facebook pages run by Donn, who is also the park trail volunteer.Well it seems Donn is quite the racist and also puts riders down, calling them names and even given them the title of squirrels, which is basically an idiot!!He has posted nasty racist things about Mexicans and how they need to back to Mexico. He posts are quite demeaning and after MANY FAILED ATTEMPTS with emails to the State they just DO NOT CARE as this person is still able to volunteer,do and say as he pleases which is downright disgusting.I guess San Lee Park management is not doing anything because this person does a lot of work there, his personal get out of jail free card and the park would lose out on trail repairs??...so with this I highly recommend you do not support a racist park. There are plenty of Parks that do not promote racism, lets do our part to put and end to this kind of petty nonsense as its 2019.

This is a nice little park on a dammed lake. The trails are geared more towards mountain biking than hiking, but still make for a pleasant stroll. Unfortunately, we didnt check the website for the park hours, so we headed down to ride the MTB park after work, blindly expecting to ride some sweet jumps. We pulled up after the 1.5 hour drive to find the parking full of mountain bike shredders, much to our delight. However, before we could even get out of the van, a park ranger (possibly volunteer) wheeled up on us in his white Dodge pickup truck and told us not to even bother getting the bikes out as the park closed at 5 pm. It was roughly 4:40 at that time. The ranger gruffly told us the parks winter hours close er down at 5 pm, and that we should have gotten there at 8 am when they opened. We told him we had to work at 8, to which he replied me too. Gotta love a guy who loves his job. We didnt get out to walk around and survey the place for the next visit as the hostility from that ranger was overwhelming. A few terse words were exchanged and we left, wondering how we could poach the trails. No luck, as it turned out, the park is patrolled with ATVs. The jumps do look sweet though.
