Wow! Love this place. Just got into kayaking after living here for over 17 years. Where have you been all my life? Great place to launch, rest, have a picnic. Just meditate and pray by the river. So peaceful and nice. Bring bug spray. There are several launch options by the river. Parking is plentiful. The several times we have been there has had plenty of parking. The bathroom is a great bonus. The construction about a mile away isnt all that great but it will help after it is done. Not crowded on the weekend like Wekiva Island. Try this place out, bring your own food, cookout, and have a great time. Parking is $3 per car on the honor system, which I consider small change to put back into the Florida parks.
Great place to launch a kayak. $3 to park your vehicle - take cash to put in the self park envelope upon entry. Free if you have a state park pass, you put your pass number on the envelope. Detach the hang tag and put on your review mirror.Iwas there on Thursday morning at 9am and there was no one else on the Wekiva River at that time. So peaceful! Handicap parking available but far walk on uneven ground to the river. Restrooms off parking lot were very clean.
Great place to launch kayaks or inflatables. Great location on the Wekiva river. Not too far from Wekiva Falls, the perfect stop along the river on a weekday day for a cold beer at the tiki bar! Parking is great and the location always feels safe.
Nice scenic area to launch kayaks or a boat. Great place to have lunch and enjoy the river view! With a trailhead to Lower Wekiva directly across the road, its also a nice spot to plan a day hike.
This river is still wild. I saw grey herons and numerous other birds, turtles and Gators. There was plenty of shaded trees along the way. We kayaked for 5 hours and only saw a handful of other kayakers and a couple of boaters. Everyone was cordial and respectful of the waterways. I would highly recommend this river experience.
Secluded launch without the screams of children or crowds of families, perfect for a relaxing kayak launch. Can ride up the current and float down stream after. Easy parking, loading, and unloading. Bathrooms + trash bins for convenience!
Great place to relax grill and enjoy gods country
This is a wonderful kayak launch and, across the road, some great trails. It’s quiet, a few bucks for parking, easy to access.
Great little spot to fish, picnic and kayak/canoe. The trail inside Lower Wekiva River State preserve is a hidden gem!
Beautiful! Kayaks and other people can be really mean!
Dangerous swimming, Not much to walk around to, Beautiful scenery.
Always a pleasure launching by kayak from Katies Landing. My favorite place to go kayaking.
Awesome little place.
Beautiful setting with plenty of seating available for your own picnic or bbq. No rentals from here so if want to go out on the water, bring your own (or go further up the river). Quite well covered with trees so very shady and cool despite being close to 100°f. Cant really walk from here other than over the road is a small trail that leads to another part of Wekiva which is great for spotting wildlife.
This place is absolutely gorgeous. Please pick up after yourself. Bring a kayak and enjoy one of the most beautiful rivers in central Florida
Dont steal my Fishing Spot!!!
Great location 1/2 way down river from Wekiwa Spring State Park to St Johns River (about 7 miles up river to Spring, and 7 miles down river to St. Johns River). One of the few rivers in America designated Wild & Scenic. Excellent place to put in a kayak or canoe and get away for awhile.Picnic tables, BBQ racks & public restrooms are available. No camping though.Across the street are hiking trails, which travel through many native species of bird, and natural habitat. Great pocket of natural habitat to enjoy!
A friend and I looked for a place we could eat our lunch on the go, before heading out of central Florida to our homes on the west coast. Its a nice little park, with a few picnic tables and is situated on the water, suited well for launching of watercraft. Its pretty there, with facilities, and we were able to find a shady spot. I remembered canoeing there years ago. There is a small charge for the use of this park, and there isnt a whole lot of parking, but it may be adequate for the parks use. It was quiet and well treed. Very nice.
$3 to park, park not serviced, no playground, no signage...trails are actually across the street, they are unkept with 0 maps or trail markers to show you the way. If you are planning on canoeing be prepared to work your canoe upstream. I was not impressed with the overall ambience of this park and the beauty was just not there. Save your money and choose a better park. Nothing worth picturing either, sad sad sad Americas Best State Park my ass
Lovely little park with grills, picnic tables, benches, restrooms and easy access to the river. Pet friendly, great Florida history, a preserved midden!
Lovely quiet park
Very small with very little to do. Costs $2 to park even though it goes by an honor basis. A couple picnic tables in front of Alligator infested waters that they allow you to hop into. Was about to take a dip and then a bunch of rednecks flew by on a boat so we said nah.
Nice. $3 charge or I would have rated a 4. Nothing for little kids. Great for quiet lunch on picnic table and grills. Great launch for canoeing. Bathroom facility. Peaceful with nice view of shallow heavy vegetative river
We went on a kayak tour through Adventures in Florida. Jeff was our guide and he was great. We got lost and were late, but they waited for us, which I think is great customer service. Highly recommend.
One of the easiest places around to launch a kayak.
Have loved this place since childhood, when then it was a working, very active, fish camp. Now its a state park. The difference to me is tragic being one that was raised going there early in the mornings before school and on the weekends to swim and put in our john boats set up for bowfishing it was nice to have the bait shop in fuel station and people local people just wondering about Sanam every morning knowing your name and family, it was nice!! BACK WOODS Small Town that no longer exists in the area. At least for me thats how it is.
Untouched Florida. Take a walk through the bamboo forest and see the old oak trees that are tagged by the state and following growth. Picnic tables, clean restrooms,. Lovely setting on the Rivers edge. A small beach to launch canoes or kayaks, or any non motorized vessel. Fishing from all the shoreline. Have caught largemouth Bass, shell cracker, catfish, bluegill. We visit several times a month. Small gate fee. Well worth it. Never busy. Love it!
Lovely little park. Fished a little and then grilled butgerd, steaks and chicken.
No frills place to launch your next canoe or kayak trip! Somewhat out of the way and safe!
A fairly small park, enclosed by houses either side, on the river. Fine for a Sunday afternoon picnic perhaps. Quite a few tables and benches. On a quiet Tuesday morning it was idyllic as no-one else was there.
Very beautiful very peaceful access to the Rock Springs run cant beat it with a stick
Great place to put in/out with your kayak, picnic, or find a nice shady spot to read.
Very nice and clean
This is one of my favorite launch sites for my kayak. Its a smaller park, with restrooms, picnic tables, and charcoal grills. Since there are not rentals, its not very busy ever.
So good my dad bought the property next door.
My kids grew up with our family canoeing here every couple of months. Weve had lots of adventures here with wonderful memories. I cant wait for our family reunion this summer, where we will once again hit the water, with grandkids this time, to have new adventures & make new memories!
Most amazing experience of my life..and I am a Florida girl
Great place to put your kayak in for the wekiva River
The water is nice.
Fished here at two seperate times. The water was shallow and the fish just did not seem to be there. Nice place to launch a kayak or canoe. You can drive to the launch unload your boat and then park about 400 feet away.
Very nice place small not tons of people. Can put canoe or kyak in here little bbq & picnic table area. Clean restrooms very inexpensive. Quiet & clean beautiful place to see sunrise or sunset. Can see lots of different animals turtles fish birds alligators deer bear.
Nice and easy right off State Road 46 great parking, the trail is well-marked
Good for kayaking. Shallow water. Saw many gators definitely not swimming friendly.
Hugh and Sue are great keepers of the park. Very courteous and friendly. Thanks for the hospitality!
Great place to get on the river only $3 for vehicle. Water was low but beautiful and natural
Excellent way to spend some time at the rivers edge contemplating, paddling, or picnicking. A world away from city madness just around the corner.
Great spot to launch on the Wekiva River. Its Florida so there are alligators. Other than that its what you can expect.
Beautiful spot on the Wekiva River. Sadly, no one seems to take responsibility for the park. It is not locked at night, and there is always activity going in and out of the park after hours. During the week it is not uncommon to pull into the park and find illicit activity going on because the park is not monitored. Living nearby, we have had meetings with the Seminole County Sheriffs Department and FWC, which you would think would help, but nothing changes. The park is a Haven for drug dealers, and young people who wish to park there and have sex in their vehicles. Yet again another fail in the part of the state and County collaborating to do something.
There is a picnic table and small boat ramp that is it.
Best low key fishing spot on wekiva
Very nice park
Great place to park and launch your boat. If you cross the road, you can take a nice hike through the Lower Wekiva River Preserve
Very peaceful and serene
My favorite place to launch my canoe on the Wekiva River. $3.00 per vehicle State Park fee, ample parking and vehicle pull through for boat trailers, soft riverbank for damage free launch. Motor boat launch prohibited.
Love this place. So quite. Exellent choice for a picknik. Has 2 shelters: 1 huge for about 100 people, closer to the river and s small one on the side
Nice little find and we will be back when we are in the area!
We love bringing the kids here they enjoy it here.
Love this place. Beautiful scenery on this river.
Great fishing if you know how to work grass mats
Great place to watch the Wekiva river and launch you canoe or kayaks.
BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO RELAX, AN PUT OUT A CANOE....
Nice place for a quiet family getaway.
Very basic, nature window into old Florida via the Wekiva river. Wekiwa Spring upriver, Wekiva KOA just past SR 46 upriver, and St Johns River downriver.
Long
Good place to launch/recover from a paddling trip
Nice easy access
Beautiful park..
Beautifully peaceful
Not much to see here, just a spot to really drop off or pick up from the river
Cheap, well maintained, and beautiful!
Great place to launch a kayak
Great place to launch a canoe
A glimpse of the real Florida.
