I honestly cant say Ive had pasta better than this outside of Italy, its seriously that good. The place itself is pretty small as there are only a handful of tables inside (and parking is pretty limited), but you can see the fresh pasta being made behind their glass wall! They have a couple of different variations of pasta shapes and sauces that you can mix and match to customize your order.
Matthew Edward Hall is the hottest guy on Earth and mind blowing. Even his words! pretty venue and atmosphere!
I loved the concerts I saw here. But this is a pretty cool venue. Pretty intimate space but without feeling cramped because of the 3 floor design. Music sounds great. Would definitely go back to see more shows here
Amazing venue that is three stories high and each story you can see the stage and from the comfort of your table for the most part. The lighting there is spot on which makes it easy to get great photographs regardless if you use an iPhone or a professional camera. They have tons of local bands playing here that are both well established and up and coming and a lot of bands from Hawaii as well as from around the world. If you havent been here I highly suggest you check it out and support live music.
I’ve gone to four shows at this venue now, with musical genres ranging from swing/jazz to indie to hip-hop, and it all sounds amazing in this space. The acoustics are great and it’s on the small side, so come here for the music. You can easily get within 10-15’ from the stage if you wait it out during the opening set.Drinks are good and, yes, a bit pricy, but they’re usually promoting something for cheaper. Only thing: the venue is narrow and long, so if you decide to walk back to the bar during a set, good luck getting back to your original spot.
The Music Box meets the expectations of a mid-sized concert venue. While on paper I’m sure it reflects a large square footage, the narrow stage and standing room area makes it seem a lot smaller. It is a three story venue but I’ve never been able to understand their rules for letting people up on the balconies... sometimes they let general admission ticket-holders upstairs while other times they don’t. The venue also has a particularly modern appearance which is a another drawback if you’re used to a more authentic and grungy atmosphere. However, what it lacks in floor plan or aesthetics, it makes up for in audio quality. The sound is always on-point and the technicians constantly work to correct and perfect the experience throughout the show. Something should also be said for the diversity of performers that come through the Music Box. Almost every genre of music can be represented on any given week. I’m always more excited to see a favorite band or musician scheduled at the Casbah or the Observatory, but the Music Box does the job as well.
Awesome bands. Awesome venue.Food is good. Bar tenders mixed great drinks. They book some super fun cover bands that I almost as close to the real thing. Usually never a bad spot in the place to see and hear the band. Ive been at least 25 times over the years. Bouncers and servers are nice too.
Super fun, trendy spot! Great cocktails! The appetizers we had were pretty good too. The music was awesome! ️
Venue was incredible, as was the show I went to see. All of the staff were attentive and kind, they really facilitated a smooth show with their preparation for a considerable younger audience while also accommodating the 21 and up crowd. Shout-outs to Robbie and the Cave Crew/Club for passing out water bottles and keeping people hydrated. Will definitely see more shows here.
Absolutely spectacular venue, small enough to make you feel like youre right there with the artist but big enough so that all your friends fit too. We did the dinner and a concert pass which was surprisingly inexpensive for what we got. I highly recommend booking a concert here if you are in the San Diego area
My husband bought tickets to a show last Saturday through a third party and paid extra for seats. When we arrived at the venue, we were told that we were mislead and there were no seats. My husband has difficulty walking as he has been recently discharged from the hospital. The manager, Joe stepped in and two seats were created for us on the balcony over looking the side stage. All the staff we encountered from the server to security were extremely nice to us. We were both impressed and grateful for the hospitality extended to us. We will be back (next time we will buy seats directly from the venue) and highly recommend the Music Box. The sound was great and its a small venue so its very comfortable. Thumbs Up to the Music Box!
Fun venue, but a lot of standing.3 floors for your viewing pleasure.
Came here on a Sunday night but ended up parking across the street in a lot for $10. Venue is a little small but the show was great. That night was extra if you wanted to grab a table on the 2nd floor. Would come back again next time.
These guys also own the Belly Up in Solana Beach. Always, a night to remember. Especially with 2 bottles of Champagne and a George Clooney Tequila!
Great venue! Veggie sliders were delicious and servers were friendly and attentive. My drink (the house old-fashioned) was a bit blah for the price, but the quality of the sound was so good, I consider the drink a small complaint. The 3 levels of viewing area made for several options of places to enjoy the performance from and the place was remarkably clean for a club. I also appreciated the convenient parking.
Anthology was the name before a change in mid-teens. I have seen some rare and fantastic shows at this venue. Wine selection is very good. Servers work hard to keep you happy. Meals are delicious. Crowd is great. I need to schedule another visit.
Love this venue. We saw Tom Gun Live here and laughed until our faces hurt. If you know whats good for you, youll check out the show when it comes back to San Diego in May.
Love this venue. Great bookings and so easy to have fun in the back, the top floor or walk right up to the rail. Very affordable drinks and great cocktails. Great spot!
Went for the White Lies w/ The Young Wild concert. The venue is a great size with three different levels to watch the show from. The crew at The Music Box were great and extremely efficient.
Cool spot to check out live bands and music. The sound and equipment they use a good quality! Lively spot in the middle of Little Italy. Good bar with beer and mixed drinks available. As well as VIP tables available. Three floors of viewing, although I believe the 2th floor is all VIP. Small outside patio area for smoking.
It had nothing to do with the drinks or anything like that. It was 100% the sound system was exceptionally below-par. Not real sure if I want to ever go back.
Being Disabled they have always, ALWAYS been accommodating! Love the people here! A variety of music! A Beautiful, simple venue! Close to Downtown. Yet, away from the crowd! But dont take my word. Check it out! (Yes they have food & drink)
One of the best music venues in the city. Most recently took my whole family to see Tobe Nwigwe and the venue was very accommodating to my children; both staff as well as guest. They were allowed to the front row and felt very comfortable. Sound quality is on point and because it is a fairly intimate venue you are close to the action no matter where you are posted.
3 floors, each with great viability of the stage and each band member. Great beer and liquor selection.
1st time visit to the Music Box to see the awesome Plague Vendor from Whittier, CA. Cool club. The sound & stage set up was very good. I stayed on the floor stage left but it looks like there is VIP seating on the right side of the club from the floor onto the upper 2 levels. Recommended place to see live music, Ill come back for sure.
Wonderful place to be!Enjoyed every minute of it!
Cool venue. Has seating and tables on one side of large GA floor, raised stage to help shorter people see the bands, and multiple stories to view from (2nd floor is VIP/bottle service only. 3rd floor only opened if the show sells out)
This place has one of the best sounding sound systems Ive ever heard. Super clear music loud and awesome building.
Really great venue. Multi-tiered makes it feel smaller. I wish more bands I knew performed here!
Nice design. Atmosphere is good. Really liked how they had upper levels to view the performance from.
Cant really speak to the drinks, food, restrooms, upper floors, or most of the staff, but the prices seem fine, the service is attentive, and the acoustics are some of the best Ive found in San Diego so far.
An intimate venue to enjoy your favorite artists. Whats not to love?
Had a great time last night. Staff at front door are welcoming and friendly. The manager Damien was accommodating to my personal requests. Dj Chris Herrera was who went to see, however all dj’s including the headliner, were really connecting with the crowd providing a great atmosphere. I’ll def recommend this venue. Looking forward to the next. Thanks music box
Its a good venue for music, not too big but not small either. Had lots of fun dancing on Bollywood night event.
Great spot to watch live acts. Good layout, not too big. Reasonable poad parking nearby.
Such a great venue for any type of music! Lots of space and several different levels to listen to a great show!
Very nice, three level, venue in downtown San Diego. Several choices for reserved seating. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Food and drinks were very good.
One of San Diegos best music venues!! Saw 80s New Wave band THE FIXX
Dope venue. VIP is sick up in the rafters. The craft services was on point, best little potato wedges I’ve ever had and the pizza are flame. Good shows good vibes. Go see a show here.
The third floor is amazing for watching a concert. If you get there early, you can watch the band without your view being obscured. Look for the doors to open later than some venues, and for the bands to be done before closing.
Cool venue but you best get there early and stand where you want to be for the show or else youll end up not being able to see anything.
Went here for the first time Sunday night and it was awesome, the place is huge and sounds amazing. Service was top notch and the group was mix. I loved it and I will be going back.
Went here to see a show and ended up getting bottle service on the second floor which was phenomenal because we had a really clear view, the drinks were really good and the food was also delicious which I wasn’t expecting. Had a wonderful time!
Was there recently to see the band, Steely Damned. The sound was good and the service was decent. I thought the venue was clean as well. I’m not a fan of bathroom attendants. It cost me $6 to use the bathroom, might have been higher, I didn’t cave into the pressure from this guy. I felt uncomfortable ️ Shout out to David the server. Good kid. I found out days later they serve food somewhere but dont think they advertised it to the customers that night, because we would have ordered something.
Great venue with good sound system. Staff was awesome too. Make sure Liz takes care of you!
Nice spot for a show. Its a smaller spot but has several bars, the staff is rad, and all spots have a great view of the stage.
A great place to see a show. The staff is very friendly. They have a bar but have shows for all ages. I went to an all age show. It was a intimate experience. The stage is up close and it’s easy to see the bands. There is VIP seating on the sides that go up several levels. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and was glad my daughter took me. I didn’t know anything about the band except my daughter had played their music for me once. They put on a great show and the singer even came down on the floor and walked down through the audience. It was a thrill! My favorite was when they played their final song “Choke.” Love the song and was even dancing around. I taped most of it. I highly recommend seeing a show here if you get the chance!
This venue is absolutely beautiful. It was my first time here and I was blown away with how nice and clean it was, even the ceiling looked brand new. I recommend the Golden Monkey, very good wheat beer.
Amazing show by meg meyers
Nice venue, very club like feel, but well kept. Got in early for a show and snagged a bench seat. Outside of standing most other seats are VIP. Had a super nice waitress come and help us order drinks and food. Only issue was closing out, since only that person can do it, cant close your tab at the bar.
Awesome Show RIP Johnny Distortion
Small intimate venue. They brought one of my favorite indie bands from Korea here and it was awesome! Security was friendly and the concert was enjoyable. It looked like there was a second tier where you could have special seats but not sure how to reserve those. There is a parking lot around the corner that is a flat $5 after 6pm on weekdays. It was fairly empty and made parking cheaper and easier than expected.
Great venue! 2nd time here, place is clean and sound is good.
Had a great time seeing The Church. Would definitely come back. Smaller venue but not too small. OK beer selection.Edit: 03/24/2018Recently saw langhorne slim perform a solo set. Another really good experience. The woman in box office was kind and accommodating. The gentlemen working the door were personable and friendly. Bartenders were attentive and patient. The rest of the staff was friendly and were really easy going. The lighting and sound were spot on and captured the intimate performance by a passionate man. I had a fantastic time.
Amazing food, drinks and artists. The security is amazing and helpful just like the waiters and waitresses!!!
Nice venue. Was disappointed that parts were off limits, such as upstairs balcony. Show was sold out, would have been nice to have it open. Way better sound than when I saw the same group at Belly Up. Too many VIP seats for my taste. The dinner ticket combo was an awesome deal. Mixed drinks were delicious.
Cool venue, great staff talented artists! =Amazing night out!
Awesome acoustics! More seating would be nice, though.
First of all, some of the best nights of my life have been here, ya know? Small and intimate but in a good way. The staff is a little aloof at times but the music is what you cum for rite? At least I do.
Great venue to see live music! Staff was great and service was excellent
The people. The atmosphere. The food. SOLID
Great venue, small and intimate. Big Mountain was awesome tonight. I drove down from L.A. to see them live tonight!
First time there and place is great, good acoustics and nice intimate setting.
Great venue and nice line up of house DJs but the floors are so not for house dancing. A bunch of people also complained about the sticky floors, not because they are dirty but because the material they chose is very rough.
One of the best music venues in town!
Great time listening and watching such a great group of talented musicians.
We saw the Cavetown show at the Music Box last night. After reading the other reviews, I had mixed feelings about what to expect.Reasons for my 5-star rating...VIP Table:1. The cost was a $75 minimum food and beverage order, plus 20% gratuity which is automatically added. I figured we would drop $50 in Little Italy either way, so whats another $25?2. We got to skip the line, which was 3 blocks long! We were the first ones in the door.3. The food was really good! I didnt think it would be based on some others reviews, and I was fine with that. But the shrimp street tacos were awesome! Seriously delish. And my daughter got the vegan sliders, and she loved them! The wine was also very decent (again, surprisingly).4. When we were ready to close the tab, we hadnt used up all $75, and our server, David, let us know. So we ordered more vegan sliders. Todays lunch was done :)5. SEATS! Unless you are lucky to be one of the first in line to sit on their long couch, you stand. All night. And then stand some more. So well worth it.Our Server: David was awesome. He was very attentive the entire night, without being intrusive. If I even looked his way, he was sure to pop over and check in.But the BEST part was Thomas, who is part of their security team. He noticed right away that a gentleman who was sharing our table was just slightly impeding our view of the stage. He very nicely asked the gentleman to move back a bit, and problem solved. We didnt bring it to his attention, Thomas just saw that it was happening and stepped in - in a very polite and kind way. In fact, I saw the two of them fist bump several times throughout the night after that. Thomas also noticed that my daughter was trying to take some pictures closer to the stage...he very kindly came over and asked that she position herself between tables, and not in front of other so she wouldnt impede their views. No problem. But then he mentioned he would make sure she could get a good view later on. About two minutes before the main act came on, he asked her to come with him - so she could be right in front of the stage! To the right so she didnt step in front of others that had already congregated, but still an awesome place to be. WOW!!! She was SO EXCITED and didnt budge all night. THANK YOU THOMAS!! I was so grateful I gave him a big hug - and made it a little weird :) But he was just so gracious.Dear Management - if you are reading this, please give Thomas a huge raise. And a promotion. He made our night. We will definitely be back.
I recently attended an event held at this venue and had an amazing time. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with friendly staff who answered all of my questions and were very helpful. In addition, I was helped by a server named Ariel who provided impeccable service. She was truly an amazing server who kept checking on my friend and I. This is truly an amazing venue with incredible staff. I look forward to attending many concerts here in the future.
Sightlines not great because shape of venue is long and narrow. Saw Queensryche here and they sounded great.
Great place! Parking structure is 10 dlls per 12 hrs. (in front) parking in the street is free after 6 pm
I went to see Guitar Masters finger style acoustic guitar concert. The venue is really cool, the artist were fabulous! The sound was TOO DAMN LOUD! This was NOT a grunge rock, or metal concert. It was an acoustic guitar concert! The sound level was ear splitting! I felt like I had been hit over the head by the guitars. My ears have been ringing ever since!
Great venue! Good sound and visuals.
Small Cute Venue (arrive to shows early.) Pretty location, great beer options, good sound and light. Handicap seating thoughly available
Great place to see bands. Perfect small venue. Upscale look at a decent price. Sound is pretty decent as well. Three levels with bars. Ive seen Buckethead, Galactic and Victor Wooten among a few others here. Atmosphere is chill...youre in Little Italy so plenty of places to eat nearby. Security is very cool as well but they will check your messenger bag. Great upper level outdoor seating.
Great music, yummy food and wonderful staff
Great venue. Definitely gonna come back and get a VIP booth on the 2nd floor. Like the option to order food
Literally the best experience at a concert venue I’ve ever had. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Everyone made us feel extremely welcome and our hostess Ariel was really sweet and kind! Will def return to this venue in the future!!!
Just saw Bob Moses at Music Box and love his DJ set. Took my coworker for her 27th bday and we had an awesome time celebrating!!!
I wish more venues were like this. Smaller than SOMA and SOMA Sidestage, terrific layout.
Great venue, small, multiple floors with good views. Also multiple bars, good seating and food, and good ambiance.
Nice venue with good sound. Limited stage viewing, but they have monitors all over. There are bars both downstairs and up. Theres also a non-smoking patio upstairs and a smoking patio down. No ins and outs.
What kool venue! Staff was rad, and very helpful...even walked me to my car, because we got out so late. Beautiful inside!
Went there for a show. The place is great, there are some food options, good drink selection, bit pricey so next time am gonna drink a bit more at home before going there.
They have Queensryche playing tonight!!! Life is good!!!!!
This venue is awesome! First time visiting for their Dance Yourself Clean event - I frequently drive up to LA for that on Saturdays but decided to try the music box. Reasonable drink prices and a very cool venue layout. Ill be back again.
Cool spot, drinks are expensive, but they are good sized so worth it.
Hit the VIP balcony and see a show...best seats in the house
Weve been there for about 5 shows and its always fun, great entertainment, staff is nice, foods good and prices are reasonable.
Saw Metalachi from the VIP Tables for my birthday. It was a blast!
Easy entry, layout cool- it was open floor standing. Bar service was decent.
Great venue for music. Looking forward to going again.
Fun place, great shows with different genres of bands and age groups. The kitchen is awesome with a variety of finger food even has some vegan options, and of course lots of local beer and craft cocktails.
This venue is perfect for an intimate setting. We love it!!
Easily had one of the best show experiences here (saw Toronto punk band, PUP and they put on the most amazing and fun show). The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and it was just an all around cool environment, namely the whole 3 story element to it.
