I reserved a table in one of their tasting bays (for free!) to celebrate a birthday and just had friends open their own tabs. The contract says theres a one drink per person minimum, but I didnt feel as though it was strictly regulated and it definitely wasnt hard for our party to meet that. :)
My stepson and his wife to be had a big crowd of us here for a buffet after their wedding rehearsal. The two proprietors are real high-energy and make things happen quickly. The crowd kept growing, so they kept bringing more food out to the buffet table. Cooked just right.Great quality gin and bourbon made right there, too.
Great place, awesome staff. Always good to stop by!
Just a bad overall experience. I arrived around 8:45 pm for a live band which was scheduled to start at 8:30. After the struggle to find parking I approach the location only to find out there is a “Colorado University College Football Game” on and the band wont be starting until after the game ?!? Colorado college football? In San Diego? ... I then proceed to walk around little Italy for an hour with my pregnant girlfriend and when we return we are charged $10 per person to see the band. Then we are told in order to get a drink we have to exit the area in which the band is playing and access the bar downstairs. After waiting just under 10 minutes for someone to even make eye contact with me at the bar I am told that the 3 drafts I am interested in are all empty. I order an available draft and go to enjoy the show ... when I go to order another beer, after exiting the music area and waiting an excessively long time for service at the bar again I am told there are no drafts available at all, only cans and bottles.... Needless to say I will not be returning and it’s sad because the music sounded great and the dance floor is very nice. Good luck .
Our company Xmas party was held here. Good food music was ok beer selection was good. I hope we will be able to return next year.
Invited here to watch Mimi Zulu perform in The Backroom. Small, but cozy area in the back of the bar for live music. $11 cover charge to enter so bring cash. There is also a $10 minimum drink/food purchase if you use a credit card. Staff was friendly. We didnt spend much time in the actual bar, but it is two levels with plenty of seating, including outdoors.Bar is modern with a bit of a rustic vibe. Seems like it fits in well with Little Italy.
The Loading Dock is one of downtown San Diego’s hidden gems and is a must visit for just a drink and a quick bite or for an affordable event! We chose this place as our venue for my Dad’s 50th birthday and it was amazing to say the least! The bar has an industrial vibe with a little bit of airport history and a great selection of drinks. The food was so delicious! SERIOUSLY! We had the beef tri tip, chicken, and pulled pork with salad and grilled vegetables for our event and got compliments throughout the whole night! We had access to all the games they had available- jenga, shuffle board, Bimini ring toss,& corn hole - we didn’t end up using majority of them though. On top of the mellow atmosphere, the service we received that night and while planning this party was very good and easy going. Chris and his team worked hard for us that night making anything we wanted happen with the least amount of stress! That’s a win for me!
A great special event venue. Nicely decorated and lots of room to mingle.
Awesome sort of new 10+ months old place to call home away from home. Staff is top notch, welcoming friendly and some wonderful sass to tongue in cheek banter and enjoy sarcastic humor. The craft beer selection is very very nice. Love how Justin features family vineyard wines . Ask how your pallette tastes and theyll take care of you, your pairing, your flavor fest. Oh yeah, theres delicious food also. What more do you and your crew want or need? Fun, friendly, food, folks, beer wine spirits and my new hangout. Eat Drink and be Merry at The Loading Dock! -Cheers, Steve Kwo San Diego
I appreciate this venues furthering of the jazz quality in San Diego. However their venue has a food/drink minimum (usually $10) on top of a cover charge. Drinks are high moderately priced. The audio quality for the performances is average to below average. The front of house lounge is nice, if you are just coming out for drinks, or if the band is playing there. In the back room it is stuffy, there are oddly placed beams that block a clear view of the band. Tables are communal type setting so there is a lack of intimacy.
Great place for an event of any kind... sports are in the front area pub as well
Love this mellow wine and craft beer bar. They have trivia and painting nights. Great staff and tasty food options to go with the great wine and beer selection. I love going to 98 Bottles!
What an awesome new bar and event space! It is family owned & operated. They were all super friendly and did not hesitate to have a laugh with you.I am not much of a beer drinker but they had a solid selection of the local favorites. I kept asking for the Happy Hour beer because that is what the dude said was most like a pilsner and it was delicious. I felt a little silly when I got my bill and found out the beer was Hoppy Alis, we all had a laugh. The atmosphere was chill and it was in a perfect part of Little Italy. Cheers Loading Dock. Thanks for the good memories.
Cool vibe with a great staff.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The tri-tip is to die for! So tender and juicy
Excellent atmosphere and great place to watch sports. Great prices and would love to host an event in the backroom
Very cool space with two levels. Very friendly and helpful bar staff. Had the trip tip andpulled pro sandwiches. Both were AMAZING! Will be back again for more tri tip and beer.
What a great place to go! Management and servers are great!
A great place for casual adult dining. Open, airy, friendly and not epically crowded
Went here for a paint and palette with my girlfriend and had a surprisingly good time. They have some pretty good food.
Mona Lisa was incredible. Best chicken marsala ever!
The new L. I. Loading Dock is a great place to have a drink and catch the game and dont forget the tri tip sandwich!
Amazing beer selection. I think they do all Sculpin. Not sure, but they had, like, all the Sculpin selections of all the times.Food is delish. you have to order the food from a different bar than you get your drinks from... Why? Shrugs. Not sure.
Great place for a drink and food. They also have a comedy show.
Three words: Caramel covered cheese!! It is heavenly and something I highly suggest you order as soon as you sit down. Your life will never be the same. Also, their flatbread pizzas are so crunchy and topped with yumminess.
Came for a company event, and the bartender was awesome!
Good spot in a ok area of Little Italy. It has shuffle board and 2 levels but heads up bar closes at 11:30 on a Friday night and also heads up they dont serve shots.
Great space, really transformed it. If theres a live act there go.
Regarding the atmosphere - I prefer simpler places, not too sophisticated. Still I go there from time to time with friends as the beer is great.
I love Madison, she really serves her customers well ;)
Ask for Ryan, Roo or Chris. They rock. This place rocks. Eat the tri tip.10/10
A nice venue for live music, but not digging the food and drink minimum after paying a $10 cover for many shows.
Good local beer, great staff.
Great paint and drink venue
Great event space
Fun. Delicious. Super owner
Great place!
It used to be called 98 Bottles, FYI
Parking can be a challenge
If the Mule doesnt come in a copper cup, is it still called a Mule?
Beer, wine and soju drinks only. Sound system was horrible. But multiple TVs. Parking sucks bad here.
Great choice of beers
Not a very good selection. Just wine and beer. The bartenders and staff were great though. Food is hit and miss.
Wine selection OK. Seems empty most of time. Dark and cozy though, good date spot.
Cool vibe. Friendly staff.
Come for trivia twice a week!
