Very cozy little venue! Great bar and staff. Saw The Fall of Troy there last week and it was a great time. Dont know why kids wear ear protection for shows now. The venue reminded me of my home towns venue where start up bands would play often.. including the Fall of troy over a decade ago.

Pretty rad venue, with great people running the place. Sound is on point, and there is not a bad spot in there. I like that you can be getting some merch at the back and still be able to catch the show. The bar is right in the middle of the club, which is an odd place but it works. Great place if you want to catch some good music in a more intimate setting. Come check it out for yourself if you havent.

Watching and playing shows at BxB has been a great experience every single time. The sound guy, Luke knows his stuff! The staff are all fantastic and friendly! I will always enjoy coming here.

It could be a much nicer venue, but I guess its geared towards the heavier crowds? Staff was great this and it had a good sound. But the bathrooms were really dirty and there were only two bathroom stalls in the womens bathroom for a venue that has a capacity of about 400 people. Again, this would be a much better place if they only took care of it a little bit.

The best heavy metal venue in all of San Diego! Their calendar is consistently filled with some of the best underground bands that travel through our area, with great sound, an intimate venue, and a fast-paced bar this place gives you everything you want. Even better, if youre not a fan of the opening bands their arcade games in the back to keep you entertained!

Intimidating at first but it will quickly grow on you. With the awesome bands they schedule to their wide-open (for a smaller place) lounge. They have a wide bar that offers solid cocktails and good craft beer. They even have a pool table and a place to hang out when you need to take a break from going all-out for your favourite band. Be warned its hard to park. I suggest taking an uber or lyft. You wont regret this visit

A great haunt for metalists who love live music... if capable, Im practically a regular and quite known by both staff/security and bands. Easily able to become personable with the bands playing and others that play there without even knowing they are the band!It doesnt help that there is a bomb bbq place next door and really good Mexican food in 2 different places close by.

Im a native San Diegan and have been to 7 venues here counting Brick by Brick now. I consider myself a music enthusiast, but wouldnt say I am an audiophile nor am I credentialed in sound engineering. My opinions here are influenced by those of a sound engineer that I know, and honest introspection of whether I found a loved band that Ive gone to see enjoyable. That is overall my priority in going to a concert - did it sound good and make me appreciate their music as I have for years? I do not have severe tinnitus, and am not hearing impaired. Whether listening at home or in concert, I can isolate instruments from each other, as long as the leveling is right. I say all this to put in perspective for you the trustworthiness of my review.Pros:- Intimate experience with the music and bands.- Easy parking.- Freeway access.- Free self serve water.- Books metal bands.- Could feel bass shake my clothes.- Could see band through bar even if seated in the back.- 420 friendly.Cons: For the night I was there, guitars were barely audible with or without earplugs and the sound engineer disagreed with me. Vocals were distorted such that words couldnt be made out. Listening without earplugs was physically painful. Systems well designed and tuned do not exhibit this problem at any volume. For local venues, this one has the worst sound reproduction of all that I have been to so far including HoB, Observatory, Chula Vista amphitheatre, Soda Bar, Casbah and Fluxx. Out of these, Soda bar was also poorly levelled, but not as severely as this.I give BxB 3 stars instead of 1 as the free water was much appreciated and layout and seating at the venue was good.

Review №62

One of the top spots to catch a metal or punk show, this venue hosts a ton of talent. With an outside smoking area you can drink in, I dont feel so left out going for a puff. I did dock a star, since once in, its no re-entry and another star for not really being able to see the shows or hear the music well from the smoking area.

I’ve been here 3x before and never had issues. I love the small atmosphere to see the bands I like. My last visit it was so over crowded the air was unbearable and extremely hot. My wife and I had to step outside multiple times in between sets just to get air. When we returned inside to see the headliner my wife had to leave once again for air and passed out onto the floor hitting her face. Neither of us were intoxicated nor dehydrated. I will not be returning here ever unless they implement a serious upgrade to ventilation ac and air quality. Worst experience.

Solid venue for punk, hardcore, or basically any concert you would wear a black shirt to. Get a PBR and a smoke in their smokers patio as you wait for the headliner to come on because your too cool to listen to people who arent famous yet. Great venue but tricky parking.

Very intimate atmosphere. I wish I could give it 5 stars (THEY EVEN SELL EARPLUGS AT THE BAR) but the sound quality was not the best. I could hear speaker rattle(most people would not notice as it is slight). Also EXTREMELY hot. I drank water (free, easy to access) but I still thought I might get heat stroke (first time for any concert). Only go if there is someone you really want to see.
