I like this hiking spot. I also like that it can be accessible to someone using a wheelchair. Im sure its hard to find Parks that have that. The long Main level loop is accessible with a wheelchair, but if you hit that Restoration trail, that becomes pretty steep really quick. Not as bad as other trails, but if you havent exercised in a while, then your calves will definitely be sore after. Beautiful place though!

Beautiful park with multiple trails in various levels of difficulty. Keep in mind almost none of it is paved. Gets popular on the weekends so don’t forget to wear your mask when passing people. Only downside is dogs are not allowed due to nature preservation/restrictions. It’s a great trail when you want some beautiful sights and a little adventure.

The scenery here is simply beautiful with trails that blend ever so seamlessly into one another. It offers a variety for everyone, with trails several being easily accessible and other trails that are more challenging. I recommend the main loop trail and water loop trail. Plus one for the restoration trail. Also get here early because it does tend to get packed!

Just finished hiking the restoration trail which is just under six miles. The hike was quite nice and not crowded at all early in the morning (started hiking at sunrise). The terrain was mostly easy grade with a few rocky areas. Overall, Id rate the trail as easy to moderate provided you are in decent shape. The scenery was nice and it was awesome to get away from the city. The nicest part about this hike is that its only a 20 minute drive from downtown San Antonio.Ill certainly be back to hike again.

Fredrich wilderness park is a wonderful park to visit. There are multiple trails (miles and miles) you can take and different levels of trails based on your fitness. Level 1 are the easiest all the way up to level 4 which can be challenging. With all the apartments in the area, the park is becoming busier. Parking is limited, so try and plan for off peak times if you are driving in to the park. This park does not allow dogs, so best leave Fido behind.

What a beautiful park with numerous trails of varying difficulties! We’ve seen parents with young kids, as well as more experienced hikers tackle the trails. With that said, this park gets very busy on the weekends, especially when it starts to get cooler. You shouldn’t have to worry about the trails being super crowded, but parking can be a challenge as the main parking lot fills up quite quickly. There’s an abundance of side street parking though.Back to the park itself– You can “mix and match” trails or approach them from the opposite direction for a new hiking experience every time. Because there are so many, some very long, you can often find yourself secluded in nature. A majority of this park is also shaded, so you don’t have to worry too much about the sweltering sun. There are stunning views of the hill country if you choose to ascend, and there are quiet wooded areas closer to ground level.

Easily the best trails in the Bexar County. Plenty of levels listed to gauge the type of trail difficulty you would like to walk down. The multitude of side trails and extensions is what sets this Park from the others. During the COVID climate you have people keeps ng distance with some in masks. Very friendly atmosphere.

Love the tracks here, enough challenge to really get your HR up and a few burning climbs. It is getting busier though as its popularity has risen! if you show up at 730am you will most likely not be able to park in the parking lot. Do so on the road instead.

This park is great. It is very steep so be prepared to climb up a Hill. You do have to be aware of the wildlife such as snakes and bees and wasps. It used to be much better whee the area was less populatedNow everything is being built up around it and it is losing its ruralness. It was crowded especially since the pandemic and the rich folk that have moved into the area. The apartment and house in the area are very high priced (before someone gets bent of a shape).

This is a large wilderness park. The trails are well marked. Part of the trails are wheelchair accessible. It was very hot and most of the forest noise came from the Cicadas. The woods were dry which is pretty usual for south TX during this time of year. If you go during the summer it is best to go early in the AM. All in all, it was a nice park.

A beautiful park but trails are very narrow which would be fine if the park didn’t have so many people consistently throughout the times I’ve been recently. Most people not wearing masks and since the trails are narrow, you’re almost brushing up against many people. In this climate I see why our covid numbers are at an all time high and there’s no staff keeping track of the amount of people entering this park.

This is a very nice place to go on a hike or a run. The bathrooms could be cleaner, but otherwise we had a great experience there today. Theres not a ton of elevation gain, so the trails are relatively accessible to a wide range of hikers, presuming the heat/humidity isnt to bad. Most of the time you are hiking in at least partial shade, which helps a lot. As a couple new to the area, the beginning of the hike where signs tell you what the native plants are called was really helpful/informative. The hike is close enough to town to be enjoyed by San Antonio residents, which is nice too. Being nestled in the hills amongst some McMansion developments, this park is frequented by a somewhat snooty crowd at times, but most people seemed to be relatively considerate of other peoples needs. All in all, a good place for City folk to get out for a fun hike and enjoy the trees/wildlife native to the area.

Trails are marked as levels meant to describe difficulty; the lower levels are better suited for bike - bikes are not recommended for higher level trails as the higher level trails will have taller stairs, various gravel, more narrow walkways, and spirratic rocks on the ground. Restricted areas are clearly marked so no one slips off the beaten path. Parking was full when I went, with parking spread out on the side of the roads, and the park was large enough to where the trails were not reflective of the parking! I got there at 9am Sat morning, the parking started to clear closer to noon when the temp started to rise in case youre wondering the best time to go. Restrooms available and Water fountain is also onsite with crisp cool water--not the coldest but definitely crisp and clear!
