Croisan Creek Trail reminds me of those Ive hiked in Portlands Forest Park, but on a much smaller scale. Its very quiet, provides a workout with uphill climbs, and offers beautiful scenery. The unpaved trail gets a bit muddy in the winter (just wear boots), but in the summer its perfect, with a tree canopy that offers protection from the sun and heat. Also, there was very little to no Poison Oak along the path, which was a bonus. This is without doubt my favorite hiking trail in Salem!

Quiet and secluded. Nice little hike through the forest.Although be aware if you have a fear of snakes. I encountered two garter snakes, during the walk, slithering down the hiking trail.

A nice little walk through a bit of forest left in South Salem. Go walk it before the kudzu, blackberry and english ivy completely smother it.

Nice walk through nature. Not busy at all! The many spiderwebs we an indication of that!

Close-in well maintained trail in second growth Doug Fir with some native plant undergrowth. (Sorry about the English ivy.)

Roughly 3/4 mile jog up it if you want a serious workout. Great bird sounds. You may see a person or two.

Nice trail, mostly for locals as it goes between the yards of various residents. Its the remnants of forest slowly being overtaken by invasive plants (ivy, berries, etc.). Wished it circled to not have to walk back through the same way.

Awesome, hidden gem. Be respectful of the neighborhood. Stay on trail, leash dogs, careful for poison oak.

Nice hidden trail in the middle of the city. I was out there for half an hour and saw about four people. Although the trail extends between neighborhoods (and the houses are often visible), there arent that many sounds of people, and its easy to feel that youre in a deep forest.Trail is decent singletrack for mountain biking (or unicycling), but its straight up and down, so be prepared to ride back up when youre done.Watch for section of trail thats inexplicably paved, but that nature is slowly reclaiming.

Cute light trail!! Great for beginners and when you just need to feel out of town for a bit.

Accidentally found this little gem of a trail. It is somewhat near others homes, but distant enough to cut out the sights and sounds of the city. You can get lost if you turn off on one of the many homemade trails and accidentally trespass so stay on the main trail, but well done city of Salem. Well done.

Great hike right from the Sprague High School parking lot. We like to leave a car at Nelson Park and just go one way for a 1.5 mile hike with a fun playground at the end. Short and sweet!

Great small trail for beginners and a good spot for walking your dog. I have seen people complain of all the dog poop but the only thing I notice was that there are little pinecone things that look like dog poop but arnt.

Dogs allowed On Leash. Nicely maintained trail between two neighborhoods along croison creek road. Unpaved mostly with light patches of gravel, but mostly dirt trail. Some also bike this trail. Dog bag stands provided at each end of the trail to make sure people pick up after their dogs.Great for a shortcut when walking in the area, a short hike or a nice route to complete a larger route.

Fun and easy trails gokd for the whole fsmily right behind Sprague high school. Not many people on it. The trails are kept fairly clean but once in a while you might encounter a homeless persons tent, though they arent there for long so Im assuming the trail gets checked up on often. I wouldnt recommend going down the trails alone or at dusk.

Beautiful trail but not great for small kids. Narrow and gradual decline so if you parked on the street its a tough walk back up. Trail is behind peoples backyard and a sewer grate is located at the bottom of it.

A nice alternative to Croisan Senic and a good way to get to Minto Brown for some Cyclo Cross action.Be aware of locals walking their doggies and control your speed on the descent... though its more fun as a climb.
