100% worth the money. The tour guide was great and well humored. Accommodated a big group on short notice and was able to point out all sorts of small things that you see every day living in New England and wouldnt have paid a second glance. Absolutely worth the tour.
Me and my fiance booked a personalized tour on their website, the next day they took the money off my card and then i received an email saying he had to cancel the tour due to being out of state, his email said he refunded my money...its been a week and i still havent received my refund
This was a called a walking tour but it is simply walking around the commons and stopping every 15 steps or so to listen to him while he points out random buildings. I liken it to a history professor giving a lesson. I would not recommend to anyone. After 45 minutes on our 90 minute ‘tour’ he announced it was done. And we literally had walked around the commons and saw nothing. Don’t waste your time and money.
Interesting tour. Covers a lot of seemingly unconnected topics related to the history of the area and its famous residents that all end up being connected. The tour guide definitely enjoys what he does and is enthusiastic about sharing the stories with you. Learned a lot of fun history and had a good time.Just so you know, the tour is an all outdoor tour. You are not entering any buildings or underground tunnels as part of the tour. So avoid bad weather if you can. Also, you might want to opt for choosing a time during the day. Going after dark does make it more difficult to see some of the buildings that are part of the tour.
Tesla, Webster, Tories, Jefferson’s Tariffs, The Federal Reserve, and Drunk Elephants. Get this tour and listen to a story teller weave the loose ends together. If you like Robert Anton Wilson’s storytelling style, this guy is for you. If you enjoy history, this tour is for you. Great tour! Great guide!
Finally a tour that talked about something different than ghosts or witches. It was a great tour and our guide didnt talk down to us. He gave us the whole story and went into all the nooks and cranies of the true history of Salem. The stuff that many of the old families might not want you to know!
Great guide, well informed and thorough. Definitely recommend it and well worth the money.
We just took the tour...It was so informative and gives you so much to think about!!! How many tours can you take about witches in Salem?? I learned so much more history about Salem than witches and how it still effects us today. Well worth it!!
Learned a lot! Highly recommended.Chris knows a lot about the history of Salem and is passionate about sharing its story. I was lucky enough to have a private tour on a beautiful day in April. He has crawled around many cool places under this town and has some pictures, facts, and tales to tell of these streets, its people, and the tunnels that connected them. I was impressed enough with the sample of what I heard and saw that I purchased his book after the tour and have enjoyed digging in more to his explorations. I definitely recommend Chris if youre interested in a thorough historical tour. He also pointed me toward some great food recommendations and other things to do the rest of my time in Salem. 5 stars!
A fabulous tour. We have done many of the different tours throughout the years, but most of them are just different shades of gray of the same script. The Salem Smugglers tour was completely original. Who knew that all of those sea captains could affect American history as much as they did! Plus it was cool to see the photographs of the tunnels under our feet they used to smuggle goods through. Our tour guide told us there was 3 miles of tunnels running under the streets that was quite amazing! Definitely worth the money.
NOT a ghost tour!A historical tour of Early Salem and the development of the New England development.Amazing!!If you want tons of fun facts, by a witty, knowledgeable guide who doesnt derail when you ask him questions..If you want to learn amazing things, in a magical place this is the tour for you!
