Cant rate high enough - One of the only places Ive been with solid (and taken seriously) covid19 practices both for take out (and now dine in), its become one of my regular spots for preorders.Very high quality food; Specialty milkshakes are always fabulous - smores is my favorite - and the crowlers to go are both a greatvariety and great value. I loved swillburger/playhouse pre-covid and love it even more now.
Awesome! My kids and I love this place. The vegan burgers were delicious and so were the fries and deep fried cauliflower. Awesome food and environment. The people that work here are amazing as well and went the extra mile to make sure my family and I enjoyed ourselves. Great food and cool games. This place is definitely a good night.
The burgers here are freaking amazing. I highly recommend trying them out. They have an excellent menu selection here too.
The burgers are delicious here and its a great place to bring the entire family. Would recommend you try this place out.
A great trip down the arcade memory lane for those from the 80s/90s and earlier. A good history lesson for younger gamers. Donkey Kong, Pong, Simpsons, TMNT, etc. The food was alright - I had a burger. I have had better, so I disagree with their sign claiming “best burger in town.” Its a good place to have a casual drink (or a milkshake) and conversation. Have a small room in the back for a private party - I would say about 20-30 people would fit comfortably.
And interesting restaurant/arcade/bar. The burgers and they fire fries are good but not the best. The ambience is a bit loud and the acoustic is such that it is difficult to have conversations. But hey, why talk when you can just play retro games? It is definitely a unique place in Rochester and worth checking out.
We visited on a Friday afternoon to enjoy lunch and the pinball machines. The food was excellent and fairly priced! Well-seasoned and not greasy. They have some of the best fries Ive ever had in Rochester. The selection of pinball machines was excellent, from classics (Attack From Mars and World Cup Soccer) to modern makes (Stranger Things and Guardians of the Galaxy). Im hoping to stop by in a while to see if they switch out machines. The other arcade games are excellent and varied with great options for two-player jaunts. The upstairs area is cool as well. I had a coin jam in Mario Kart but they gave me tokens to replace it (and were very nice about it!) Honestly, it was one of the most fun experiences Ive had in a long time and I suggest it to anyone coming through Rochester.
So Swillbur is an interesting place. Its a burger place/ bar/ arcade. You can get a grass fed burger and all food is locally sourced. Thats a major plus. On street parking only and very uncomfortable seating is why I give this place 3 stars. Games include old school arcade, lots of pinball machines and some new games. Its warm and loud. There were more adults than kids. No kids after 10:00pm. The building was once a church. For me this was a one and done. My husband and son will likely go back.
The cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches are subpar at best. The drinks are grossly overpriced. Many of the games are often broken, under maintenance for long periods of time, on top of the fact that you have to pay for every game.Have been to many barcades around the Midwest and east coast and this one falls far below average.
Fun atmosphere and good food. The menu is not extensive, but all the choices are excellent. And there are great vegan options including milkshakes! Its great to be able to play the old-school video games, too (and the newer games arent bad either).
BEST BAR IN ROCHESTER. This is the best place to play games and eat amazing food. The car tender even made me a special key lime pie drink to help celebrate. I have been with my 10 year old cousin and we have as much fun together as my 25 year old friends. There is no other place like this! The parking can be tough since it is only street but once you find your way Inside I promise you will never want to leave!
Very fun. A ton of assorted games . Old, new and everything in between. Game prices are compatible to other arcade style places. They have a decent tap list and the bar service is quick. Food was tasty and you get a big pile of fries .
Lots of hipsters, food is good but overpriced. You can do better for your night out but is definitely worth checking out at least once
Great food, we love the impossible burgers, and the staff is so friendly!
Their fries are some of the top in Rochester, theyre so good! Theyre shoestring fries seasoned with a great flavor combo, and easily should compete for the spot of #1 french fries in the city. Also they can make almost everything completely vegan so thank you! They serve a veggie burger thats very beet heavy but the flavors used in the patty are delicious. Itll fall apart when you eat it because, well I always put a lot of toppings on it, but thats great because you get to eat everything thats fallen off afterwards with a fork!Their bar is really big and they have tons of beers on tap, and even some ciders! Also of course they have lots of arcade games, with lots of old pinball machines around the corner. Be prepared to spend a bit of money though for the full experience of eating, drinking, and playing, but its a great night out with friends!
If you are a gamer and you like burgers, this is the place for you! The food here is really good and the staff is really friendly. They sell mainly burgers, tater tots, and milkshakes. Food doesnt take too long to prepare, and there is plenty of seating. On the gaming side however, they have arcade games (classic and new, but mainly classic), skee ball, pinball, and much more! They even have a display of classic gaming consoles such as the Atari 2600 and Virtual Boy.
This was a fun joint to visit. The burgers, including vegan selections, were very good. We also had a lot of fun playing the vintage video games.Go there for a very good burger joint and an opportunity to play nostalgic video games.
Just like arcades of old... except with a bar. Great place to bring your kids (before 10PM) simple food but done well and reasonably priced. Best selection of video games and pinball machines around
If you love historic places and arcade video games this is your place. Sure its the weirdest combination. But its also awesome!Bartenders are always on point. And they are extremely helpful. There is never a wait to buy a drink, yet the place is always packed. Im so glad to have this place in the South wedge, because iy is another example of a how downtown Rochester has come to alive again! This is a business that will succeed!Side note:It looks like a church from the outside but its a bar. An awesome bar!
Loved the concept, great food, good beer selection!
Unique location in an old church complete with stained glass windows. Simple food menu that includes a delicious crispy chicken sandwich with lots of topping options and daily tatertot specials. Homemade ketchup. Lots of vintage video games. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
A great place to hang out no matter what time of day! Games are always fun, food and drinks are always great. Adeline and Abiose are amazing bartenders and will make you something amazing. It also helps that they are both very attractive and great people. Will hang out here anytime!!
Well not everyone else would like games but its a good expericence for new beginners who wants to try something new..but as for me .I love games its a blast from the past for me.its a great way to relive your childhood and bond with family and friends. Theres a bar, food. Its kids friendly but after midnight they cant enter. Its a pricey $$.but there is a fun fact about this place it use to be a church so how cool is that to explore and it hard to find parking.
Best Chicken Sandwich anywhere!
Great causal spot to have some food, drink some beverages, and play some games. Theyve added a back area for games which is nice. Cant wait to visit again.
A super fun place to have a night out with friends. Drinks, great food and shakes(veggie friendly!) tons of games and great upstairs seating.
Excellent food and drink selections. Very clean and stylish. The arcade games are great. Many classics from my childhood and excellent new ones as well. The bartenders are quick and attentive to customers. Everything was excellent, truly a great experience. Ill be heading back again soon.
Awesome! Menu is super simple and they had a great bar. Very adult and kid friendly. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again!
Love the atmosphere. This place is perfect as a family outing, I saw quite a few with one parent being able to relax with a drink while the other was playing one of the many traditional arcade games with the kids. Its also great for a first date, happened to peak and saw a date; not certain if it was a first but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. My husband and I were actually impressed with their beer choices. Great for the kids and the young at heart.
Great place to go for a beer and a burger. They now sell the impossible burger. Go on a Monday when it is a bit quieter there. Mondays are also industry night and if you work in bar/brewing world you get a bunch of free tokens for food.
Fun atmosphere with old school arcade games. Good food, nice place to meet up with friends. Such a fun place!
Great atmosphere and good music, probably not the best place to bring a kid. Ordered a burger and tots which were good. The patty was a bit thin though.
Phenomenal experience! Was so much fun hanging out with friends and enjoying food and a coke. The games are vintage and modern, and have much variety! Would recommend for a friend-gathering.
Great burger joint, cool retro vibe with pinball machines, foosball, Mario Kart, and Atari, and Pac-Man (among others!) . There are two stories, a fair amount of space, ample tables and chairs. I believe you can also rent out the place for corporate events. Super neat adult arcade right in the South Wedge. Highly recommend for a good time!
Awesome place. The food has always been excellent. I wish they would bring back the vampire fries, but the fire fries are an OK substitute. The games are fun and fairly priced for the most part. In a world of Dave and Busters card system, there is something great about having a place where tokens are still king. My only complaint is that a few of the bar tenders can be rude. Their beer selection is surprisingly good.
Very creative menu and great lineup of craft beers. Tons of fun video games to play including many classics. Very cool concept brilliantly executed.
Great spot! Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders, always something fun to do with all the arcade games, and the food is great! Highly recommend.
Had a burger with fries and tater tots. It was good. Kids played video games and were able to keep themselves entertained. Had numerous micro beers on tap.
The bartender made me this drink that had beet juice in it. It was delicious. Im a newly vegetarian so it didnt feel like there was mas many options for me but they do have veggie burgers. They also have a ton of arcade games which makes for a fun date if youre into that kind of thing...I am so I enjoyed it.
Previously LOVED this place for its amazing burgers and shoestring fries but after a recent visit discovered that they changed the fries in such a drastically terrible direction that I have to bump them down three stars. I honestly think Ill have to boycott until the superior fries return.
Video game lovers paradise. First time I went a few years ago, there were a lot of issues with the games eating $. Just went back last week and had no problems. Strong beer selection also. Food menu is small andbasic but you wouldn’t want it sit down and have dinner here anyways
Good pub food and reasonable price point. Fun atmosphere that changes throughout the day. We come for the burgers and the Foosball!
Chill arcade lounge. The counter service worker was quick, engaging, and took our order correctly. The burger and fries were tasty. The feel is an upscale old school arcade with lots of nice pinball and video arcade games. The bar with its video game bar back wall is a nice touch, but I went at lunch and the young preteen kids playing the games with the full bar feet away with some light midday drinking going on had a weird slightly off vibe.
I like that there is a separate area for food and non-alcoholic drinks. The division makes it far easier to get good service. The arcade is also nice. They seem to keep it clean. I have been here a few times.
Great food and a cool place to hangout. Video game selection is epic and the tap list is good too!
The burger and fries were tasty. The feel is an upscale old school arcade with lots of nice pinball and video arcade games. The bar with its video game bar back wall is a nice touch,The burgers and they fire fries are good but not the best. The ambience is a bit loud and the acoustic is such that it is difficult to have conversations.
Always a super fun time. The food is really good, with big portions for the price. And I enjoy their cocktail menu and big craft beer selection. now if only I was good at arcade games.
The burgers & tater tots are delicious! Very clean. Enjoyed the atmosphere
Great food. Great games. Great drinks. Definitely looking forward to going back
The food was great, I had the impossible burger (vegan). The girl at the counter was so nice she said if I didnt like it, bring it back since Id never had one. Wall to wall video games, just like the arcades of the 80s
Great beer list and other drink offerings. Good burgers and bar grub. Lots of games. Its C. Cheese for adults.
Fun but definitely an age specific group. Hard to recognize as a bar as it still looks like a church on the outside.
Had higher hopes for this place. Beer is expensive and arcade titles are ok. Decent pinball titles. Fun, random table top games. Food is pretentious but tasty (if that makes any sense). Its a fun place to visit but o wouldnt want to live there.
The burgers are pretty good and the tots loaded with Apple butter and goat cheese was a unique combination. Lots of games to play including a ton of pinball machines. The place was packed so it was hard to not be in the way if you were waiting for a particular game to become available.
So much fun! Great even for vegetarians. The beet burger is amazing. So many video games! All the greats from my childhood, and some awesome new ones too!
Great vibe! Fun place to play arcade games and grab some delicious food
Love this place for a low key night out with friends! However, I’m giving 2 stars because the bartenders are miserable and have no desire to be there. It’s disappointing on a slow Wednesday night when there’s 3 bartenders, nothing going on, and it takes 20 minutes of being blatantly ignored to get a simple drink. I say this as a bartender myself. It was very obvious that none of them wanted to be there. It’s been like this the last few times I’ve been there but last night was the worst by far.
Its basically a local, more affordable Dave and Busters. A perfect spot to bring kids and have a simple meal and after 10 PM it becomes 21+ only.
I love this place. It definitely went through some growing pains early on, but it seems to have come into its own pretty nicely. A great selection of arcade games, new and old school. A decent selection of pinball machines.Nothing is overpriced. Good selection of craft beers on tap and a shuffle board table. Oh yeah dont forget the burgers. They arent the best in Rochester, but they are pretty good and you dont have to go anywhere.A few ways they could improve is to make sure the games are in top shape. Most of the ones I played were fine, but a few were a little stubborn at times. Second is to improve the HVAC that place can get pretty hot and stuffy. Although it is an old church.Overall I hope this remains a Rochester staple for a long time.
Great place for drinks, boutique beers and games!!
Fun environment with really good food. The fire fries are bangin!
Not only does this take you back to the 90’s but the FOOD is their hidden gem. Go have some good old arcade fun and remember to bring quarters/$1’s for the tokens :)
Swillburger is the best ever. Great drinks and amazing games - I spent like 3 hours here and never ran out of things to do.
This place is off the hook!
Burgers are great, but bring back the shoestring fries! That was a big disappointment.Update: I actually was still thinking about how bad the fries were a couple days later, bumped down to 3 stars now. Fries are not even close to worth the extra they charge you to get them.
Terrific environment. Lots of options of arcade games and drinks, as well as really good burgers and tots. I got the regular cheeseburger with the works and Tikka Masala tots and they were really good!
Such an amazing place to eat and play games!!! They have all the classics like Pacman, pong, and donkey Kong
Great atmosphere. Had a burger and a shake. Shake was good, burger was a bit salty. For some weird reason there was marinara sauce on the burger along with the ketchup and mustard I ordered. That made it pretty gross. Not sure what happened there.
Swillburger is incredible. Their burgers are phenomenal. They have gluten free buns. Their soup and sides are gf and or vegan almost always. Their fryer is GF.The hot jam alone is worth it.I appreciate this place so much as someone who has Celiacs.Go eat here and then have a cocktail and play some games at the Playhouse!
Delicious burgers and everything tastes homemade! The arcade is awesome with rotating games and the craft beer and cocktail selections are on point.
Took our 6yr old daughter who loves pinball. We all had a blast AND the burgers, fries, and milkshake were amazing. If we lived closer, I would definitely be gaining burger weight.
Pretty good food. A little weird ordering situation. Been here a few times and not disappointed by food but atmosphere is non-existent. Nothing worse than an abandoned arcade area taking up space. Ive never seen anyone use the machines. Five stars if they would change that up and make it more user friendly.
Posh arcade bar with a pretty stellar atmosphere. Food is a bit on the steep side, but at least is a few notches above typical bar food.
Burger is really good. Regret not getting a second! Place is clean with a great tap list.
GREAT Place! Tons of Fun!
Theres a lot to like about this place. They have great smash burgers and great buns. Their beer selection is nice. Oh the arcade games too. The thing I appreciate most is the simplicity of the menu. Only a few options. Beef or bean burgers. One or two patties. Cheese or nah.
Great place for kids to come during the day and play arcade games. Awesome burgers and food even had a vegetarian burger.
Not bad. Very limited burger menu. Cool games. Parking is tough.
Great burgers, awesome atmosphere! Great selection of games! I will be back!
Very friendly staff, and the arcade games are a ton of fun as well. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was very fun as well
We took our daughter there for her 6th birthday! ...she loved it. We went during the day on a Monday and practically had the place to ourselves. The food was awesome (the veggie burger is a must try! I’ve never had one this delicious). The place was super clean and exciting...it’s every 80s kids dream come true; an arcade with good food and a bar.....
Easily one of the most fun places in Rochester. The burgers and sides are great, the bar offers all sorts of options, and they have a ton of great video games to play while youre there. If youre somebody who grew up hanging out in arcades as a kid, you need to check this place out.
Food is amazing, great vegan options as well. Friendly staff, fun atmosphere
Yeah usually the best. And honestly still the best veggie burger in town. I don’t know what the heck has happened staff wise for the food side- the last 3 times I’ve been there have been so far under acceptable I can’t say it without this review being reported for vulgarity.First offense- (I DONT EAT MEAT) they gave me a meat burger. I returned it. Explaining I need a veggie burger. - they just made me another meat one.I said “no pls thank you” and then I watched them pull the toppings off the meat burger and put them on the new veggie burger. NOT. COOL. AT. ALL.Second offense - call in an order- pick it up, ticket is correct. So I go home. Open it up. There’s literally no toppings on my burger. And my fries weren’t Cajun like requested. Literally nothing on the burger even though I asked for what I wanted and it was printed on the ticket attached to the bag. NOT. COOL. ALSO.third offense- I called to complain about above burger issue above and to see if I could come pick up the correct order. Was hung up on. Then attempted to call back several times and nobody picked up.Honestly what happened ?Why y’all like this now?Get your act together.I’m offended and mad and hungry and y’all are SLIPPING.Get it together. Get it all in a bag. Get. It. Together.
Great burger! Really fun environment, but a little loud for my taste.
Very nice and interesting place with lots of arcades and games. The hamburgers are really good. Definitely recommend it
Great place for games, and very tasty food, with a variety of options (the burgers are great).
To begin last night was my 22nd birthday party. A few friends chose to come here and we left very disappointed. At first it was a decent experience, we all got something to drink. I got wine and didn’t like it. They were real quick to get your money but never came back to ask how my drink even was. We tried getting the attention of any bartender to fix this. Not one of them even acknowledged us. The bartender who was originally serving me ended up completely leaving the bar and had a long conversation with someone as he had a few people who needed service. We wanted to leave very quickly so I ended up chugging back the disgusting wine and we left. Last time I came to Swilburger it was a great time. This experience last night is putting this bar on a no bar crawl list. There are better bars around with better drinks/prices.
The burgers are pretty good, in the Rochester style. The atmosphere is kinda crazy - if you dont like bar/nightclub noise and crowdiness, especially on a weekend night, it would probably not be an ideal place. That said, kids are welcome until 10pm.Prices arent cheap - we got 2 double burgers, a single burger, 1 order of fries that we split and 3 sodas....and the counter-service tab was over $40. Also, the fries looked good but taste was a bit lacking.
The ONLY PLACE I want to spend my free time
