Beautiful little hidden gem of a place. There isnt any signage (or none that I found) so you can only really find it if youre looking for it. I went on a Friday afternoon and there was literally no one else visiting but me. I didnt do a tour, since I was only in the area for the day and decided to drop by, but I would definitely suggest doing a tour of the house to add more to your visit since its a pretty quick walk to see the grounds (cant take you more than an 30 min). They provide maps of the grounds at the parking area and its free to walk around but they have a suggested donation amount of $5. Overall a very peaceful and beautiful place tucked away near the James River.

Im biased; my great nephew held his wedding and reception there. The food was excellent, and the drinks were plentiful. He and his fiance-now wife worked long and hard to throw a great celebration. Be careful of the rain; it gets muddy!

This venue is absolutely stunning! We were so impressed at how spacious it was for everyone to explore and roam. The history of the home was also such a cool touch for the guests traveling from the UK. They thought that was neat. The views to the river made for great photos. The staff at Tuckahoe were kind and so professional. they even helped me find some of my vendors! Thank You!!!!

A hidden gem only 20 minutes away from the city. The Tuckahoe Plantation is an incredible building from the 1700’s that still houses a family. What makes this place significant is this is where Thomas Jefferson spent several years growing up with his parents. There seems to be several architectural inspirations here at the Tuckahoe Plantation. Try to spot them if you can. It’s a simple place, but I would encourage you to schedule a tour before heading down. You can schedule a tour by going on their website.

There was a transcendent peace here wandering the grounds with the smell of flowers filling the warm breeze, butterflies everywhere and stunning garden spaces. I about peed myself when there was snorting in one of the beds but it was just the neighbors horse. Having been chased by an angry three-legged pig at one point in my life which started in much the same way (true story) this was the only interruption of the total serenity of this place. Meander dont run, but go. The long tree tunnel drive to the property is only the start of this magical experience. Park in the field, pay your $5 and enjoy

Very well done tour by the tour guide during the visit and well worth coming back again cause there is so much rich History surrounding this amazing as very beautiful plantation. Our tour guide we had today is very knowledgeable on what she knows about this location. Thank you so much for letting us take a tour of the property. Me and my friend will definitely be back next year.

Went there on Tuesday afternoon. The gardens were absolutely beautiful. There was a pasture with horses. Didnt have Time to tour inside but the view was worth the trip above the train tracks and a view of the James river slightly.

Well designed and maintained garden. Historical house tour of main floor. A family lives here so upstairs and downstairs are private areas. They are gracious enough to share parts of their home and lovely property. I attended a tea and quilt event that used all parts of the space to display quilts and served tea and homemade goodies. Very nice event.

The property goes on forever. The views are spectacular, especially the gardens. Thomas Jefferson lived in this house for 7 years as a young boy. The house is rich with history. We were here for a rehearsal dinner. It was incredible to actually tour the house and have dinner here.

Incredibly beautiful grounds and landscaping. The historic Jefferson home is equally as beautiful; one could easily spend hours here.

We need to remember that plantations made their millions of dollars of wealth out of the pain, suffering, and death of other human beings. The tour fails to resonate with that in any way. Its pretty, but it has no connection to the actual history that created it.

Such a beautiful and underappreciated space in Richmond. We had the place to ourselves, minus some grounds and event planning folks prepping for a wedding. Sounds like Saturdays are wedding days but weekdays are super quiet.

Beautiful gardens in a historic plantation. Visited for a possible wedding venue and the staff seemed very helpful and down to earth. The plantation offers a lot for a venue including pretty views, space for many guests, and get away locations when needed.

This property is very scenic and historical and a very valuable educational masterpiece for adults and children. It is amazing how the current owners take such great care preserving this property!

If I could give this venue 100 negative stars I would. My fiance and I had our wedding booked with them for over 2 years before we got the news that they had cancelled our wedding. Heres the background story: We had originally booked our wedding for a Saturday in September. We were later informed that if we switched to that Friday, we could receive money off so we decided to make the switch. We signed our contract and submitted our deposit. About 6 months out we contacted Tuckahoe to start finalizing some details such as lighting packages, etc. We were informed that Bonnie, who we had previously been working with had permanently left (which was never told to us) and Lyndee was the new point of contact. She went on to inform us that there was no record of our deposit or contract on file. She told us that we could not have our wedding there because the Saturday bride wanted to have her rehearsal dinner there on Friday night and she got first priority even though we had booked long before her (which was also never told to us when we switched from that Saturday to Friday originally). Obviously, we were extremely upset and confused by this news. We showed her our signed contract and deposit slip, along with all of our previous email communications with the venue. She was extremely apologetic and said that the issue would be fixed, along with giving us extra lighting packages for free due to all of the confusion and grief. We started to relax again and went on with planning, including putting down the rest of the money towards the venue. Several weeks later, after we had arranged all of our vendors and put down numerous deposits, Lyndee informed us that they were officially cancelling our wedding again. This was devastating news as our save the dates were sent out and everyone knows it is almost impossible to find a new venue and plan a new wedding in that short of time. Our amazing wedding planner stepped up and found us another plantation (Westover plantation) that could accommodate us on our wedding day. We were relieved that we found a venue and it turned out to be a wonderful wedding, but it took a long time to get over my vision of having my wedding at Tuckahoe. Lyndee and Tuckahoe promised to compensate us $200 towards transportation since this venue was significantly farther (which is no where near the compensation I thought was appropriate). They also took forever to give us our deposits back and never compensated us for the extra credit card fee associated with paying online! After this, myself, finance, and wedding planner were never able to get in touch with Tuckahoe and we never received any compensation. This was one of the most stressful and upsetting things I have had to go through and they put us on a terrible emotional roller coaster. I hope no other bride ever has to go through the same grief. I strongly urge you, even though this venue is beautiful, to not waste your time with the horrible people who manage it.

You could not ask for more in a plantation. TJ grew up here as a child...gardens, old out buildings and old tree specimens. I wish I had come years earlier. I will come back again soon.
